My father promoted the then Bro James Cleveland in the 1960s. My father invited Bro. Cleveland to our church on Classon Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, for a big concert. Yes, this is 1973. I was old enough to sing in the children choir. We sang and got the church ready for Mr. James Cleveland, he was not a minister at that time and this is before he moved to Southern California. Talk about a Christian party in church on Sunday morning, wow!!! LOL no kidding. This is how my dad became a big time musician, promoter, organizer and anything to do with music. Everyone talked about this concert from Brooklyn to NJ to Southern California. No kidding. His daughter will probably not even remember my dad as I believe she is much younger than me. I don't know. My dad went on to promote other gospel giants like Andre Crouch and the Disciples, and Ronny Leaky and more Pops was modest but superb musician he played brass, winds, percussion instruments. He was a fine vocalist as well. His mom did not want him to move with Bro. Cleveland. So he stayed in Brooklyn, NY. A family friend have an 8mm video film of the concert. I will have to get the 8mm film of the concert to see if it can be converted. Who knows what condition it will be. It has been over 50 years since it was last seen. Thank you for uploading this tribute. It is lovely to see. And it is a treasure to keep. We are on our way for sure. 😇🙏🐑📖🛐💐❤️❤️❤️. Happy Easter Sunday and week!
Thank you for your generous message Lady A. R. Browne. It is truly an honour to have you watch the video of our choir singing gospel music. We are indebted to your legacy and the legacy of African American people. Your father was at the famous Aretha Franklin concert in LA?
update 18:09 @@wildatheARTcommunity Thank you for the warm regards. My dad was invited. We had flight plans to go, but at last minute his father took very sick and we couldn't attend for the weekend concerts. In fact, my grandpapá died that January 1974 and he got sick three years before the concert (Jan. '71). Note: I had to check my gramps obituary and other paperwork. I am still searching for the filmage of the 1973 concert held at Miller Memorial Church of the Nazarene on Classon Avenue in Brooklyn. NY. I will say that was one heck of a memorable concert that never ever will leave my mind. And my mom remembers it well as does her friends. We all were there. Your organist and pianist did a great job at playing ... i mean all instrumentalists did a wonderful job. The choir also delivered it well. It would have made pops and Rev. Cleveland very happy. It would have also been a huge party. ❤😇🎼🎹
WE ARE ON OUR WAY Played and sung in the key of Ab major TO A LAND OF FADELESS DAY WE ARE ON OUR WAY WE ARE ON OUR JOURNEY HOME. --- WHEN WE GET TO GLORY WE WILL SHOUT AND TELL THE STORY HOW WE MADE IT OVER WE’RE ON OUR JOURNEY HOME
This is a “march in” by the choir....traditional and common in black churches. Usually done for choir anniversaries or special programs but in some cases this is just the way the choir takes to the choir stand every Sunday.
Greetings . . . I will be most appreciative if someone can clarify one particular phrase of this song. I've racked my brain for the longest trying to figure it out. "We are on our way--- to a land of ???????????---- We are on our way--- We are on our journey home---." I've heard so many substitutions, but this is the first current version I've heard sung using what sounds like the phrase sung on the original recording. R~😁
@@RodneyDBray Thanks for your feedback, Rodney. The lyric perplexed me too. I listened many times, searched many versions online and decided in the end it sounded most like "we are on our way to a land or prayer this day". I hope that helps. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows better than I.
I love they are honoring the music of the legendary the Rev. Dr. James Cleveland from America.
Sang Choir.👏👏👏 Made me think of The late Rev James Cleveland
any time we sing the praises of the Lord, we are indeed on our WAY...on our journey home! Thank you.
I love this, Rev. James Cleveland would be very proud of you all!!! I will be sure to show this to Rev. Cleveland's daughter Ms. LaShone Cleveland!
I love to hear this choir sing this song. Yes Lord we are on our journey HOME!!! To a land of brighter day!!

Is this a Baptist church? Or some kind of a program?

@@rodneywilliams5288 I’m well aware. I grew up in a black Baptist church.
And yet.....you still asked that question ?? Lol. Ok then *sigh*
@@rodneywilliams5288 I was asking for this video specifically. Is this a church or what? That’s what I wanted to know.
