The Mystery of Melchizedek - Part One

  • www.truthforlife.org || By: Alistair Begg - (Hebrews 7:1-11) Melchizedek’s royal priesthood casts an intriguing shadow down the corridors of time. Bringing his Old Testament background to light, Alistair Begg explores the role of this mysterious biblical figure. As a priesthood established by personal worth rather than lineage, the order of Melchizedek foreshadowed the reality of Jesus as the Great High Priest. Through Christ’s sacrificial work, the Gospel invites sinners to set aside self-dependence and fix their belief upon the power of the Spirit of God.

Dropped out of school in the 8th grade. Was allowed in a college without a high-school diploma, started off with remedial courses, with the promise I would complete my high-school degree before I graduated. Nevertheless I failed miserably. Finally got my GED at age 36. Went to trade schools-tech schools, got tons of certificates in many areas including physical fitness and sports. And academian I am not. If it wasn't for auto-spell I wouldn't comment because of my terrible spelling skills. And yeah I grew up in housing projects in the hood. With that said: this presentation was clear, precise, scriptural, simplistic; even for an eighth grade dropout. I read a lot of comments trying to put their 2 cents in. One commenter even tried to flip the script to Allah. On this particular presentation, the Lord God Yehovah gave this man an accurate description of this mysterious character. Leave it alone naysayers, problem solved. 👋👍👍🙏

I am preaching from this text this Sunday, and am glad to hear:
    1. That the temptation to skip it is real
    2. The application of something seemingly obscure.
    3. The tying in of the Aaronic priesthood.
    Thank you!!

King of Righteousness does not sound like any of us ordinary beings. The New Testament said he had no beginning and end. Only God fits that who don’t have no other beside Him, Lord Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit.

    The Sage of Salem
It was 1,973 years before the birth of Jesus that Machiventa was bestowed upon the human races of Urantia. His coming was unspectacular; his materialization was not witnessed by human eyes. He was first observed by mortal man on that eventful day when he entered the tent of Amdon, a Chaldean herder of Sumerian extraction. And the proclamation of his mission was embodied in the simple statement which he made to this shepherd, “I am Melchizedek, priest of El Elyon, the Most High, the one and only God.”
When the herder had recovered from his astonishment, and after he had plied this stranger with many questions, he asked Melchizedek to sup with him, and this was the first time in his long universe career that Machiventa had partaken of material food, the nourishment which was to sustain him throughout his ninety-four years of life as a material being.
And that night, as they talked out under the stars, Melchizedek began his mission of the revelation of the truth of the reality of God when, with a sweep of his arm, he turned to Amdon, saying, “El Elyon, the Most High, is the divine creator of the stars of the firmament and even of this very earth on which we live, and he is also the supreme God of heaven.”
Within a few years Melchizedek had gathered around himself a group of pupils, disciples, and believers who formed the nucleus of the later community of Salem. He was soon known throughout Palestine as the priest of El Elyon, the Most High, and as the sage of Salem. Among some of the surrounding tribes he was often referred to as the sheik, or king, of Salem. Salem was the site which after the disappearance of Melchizedek became the city of Jebus, subsequently being called Jerusalem.

In Islam, the prophet Mohammed is considered the ‘seal of the prophets’, i.e the last of the prophets and it is said that he had a ‘seal’ birthmark on his chest where his heart was.. just like Melchizedek… historically, some of the Jews were expecting the messiah to be born in Mecca but when the prophet Mohammed started to preach the word of god in Arabic, they rejected him as a false prophet because, like Jesus, he was against what the Hebrew priests were preaching at the time.. this then led to the conflicts between the Jews, the tribe of Quresh and the followers of the Prophet Mohammed…. The rest is history

At the time of Abraham there were seem to have been areas that worship the true and living God. Shem and many of his descendants were still alive at the incident with Abraham and Melchizedek. Melchizedek seems to have been the first King/Priest. Our Lord Jesus Christ is King/Priest by direct descent. His mother was cousin to Elizabeth one of the priestly daughters, Joseph was a direct descendant of David

Look at what is in the revelation a short verse.
When John is touched and told i am alpha and omega.
Everyone seem to remember this. Here is the consideration.
I am one that is and was and is everlasting.
Shows path of spirit of God. So looking at reverse no genesis to rear.
    But the revelation to genesis.
Because there is similarities things that unwind and things to shortly come to pass.
Example is prophets always foreshadow Jesus.
The wrap your mind around elisha and Moses on mount transfiguration.
So in genesis you had Enoch and aberham.
So if prophets always preceed Jesus. Just consider this.
Next example is in the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Write what have seen what is and what shall shortly come. Its a code . Every example follows
Old testament. New testament and the revelation of Jesus Christ. Repeat and fore shadows the next.
    Just consider this.

could that also describe an angelic being? no mother, no father, no geneology, without beginning of days ...and given a position of the Priest of God Most High and a king over a particular area in Israel ?? if not, then an incarnate of the Holy Spirit?? Our God, One God, Three person has no mother, no father, no geneology, and no beginning of days...God Is/eternal, without beginning or ending. How can Melchiz. be given a pedigree/lineage then from anyone in the OT? QUEST: When our bodies are changed do we also immediately receive the answers to questions about particular Scripture verses??

    Psalm 110:4 RSV
    The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind,
“You are a priest for ever
    after the order of Melchiz′edek.”
    Correct Reckoning:
    4205 BC - 2171 BC = 2,034
    2171 BC - 2,034 = 137
    2182 BC - 2171 BC = 11
    137 + 11 = 148
    0000 + 2,034 = 2034 AD
    2034 AD - 148 = 1886 AD
    Where:
    4205 BC Birth of Adam
2182 BC God's Call to Abram
    2171 BC Melchizedek blessed Abram
    0000 Birth of Jesus Christ
1886 AD Birth of Felix Manalo Ysagun
    2034 AD Judgment Day
    when Joshua Manalo,
    the Christ
    at the Second Coming,
    turns 35, as prophesied
    in Joel 3.

    THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK.
(THIS IS HOW LORD JESUS REPLACED ANIMAL SACRIFICE WITH PRAYER AND BREAD & WINE)
" Jesus Christ our Lord is the high priest in the order of Melchizedek. "
    1. Melchizedek, who's hard to explain
    (Heb 5:11)
    2. Natural and Spiritual Melchizedek.
In old testament times when all priests blessed with animal sacrifice, Melchizedek the high priest, blessed Abraham with bread and wine.
    (Ge 14:18-20).
Jesus Christ the highest priest of all, did exactly the same
    (Mt 26:26-28)
    Apostle Paul's Testimony
    (Heb 5:8-10)
Then what is difficult to explain ??
    3. Points hard to explain.
    The difficult points.
    (Heb 7:1-3)
    Jesus had genealogy (Matt 1:1)
and had parents who had faith in truth .(Matt 12:50)
And is God almighty. (Jn 10:30)
Thus, St Paul is NOT telling about the 1st coming, but the SECOND coming Christ.
    4. We can recognise 2nd coming Christ if he fulfils the following. (Heb 7:3)
a). Must have no genealogy in Israel unlike 1st coming.
b). Must not have parents in faith, I,e,. They must be gentiles.
c). Must bless with bread and wine like 1st coming as prophecied in (Isa 25:6-9)
    d) Must be God Almighty.
    (Heb 9:28)
    e) Christ forever
    (Isa 25:9)
The one who fulfils all these prophecies and conditions is Our Father, the second coming Christ and he's the high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
    Amen !

    Genesis 14:18-20
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: 20 and blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
    Psalms 110:4
The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent,
Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
    Hebrews 5:10
called of God an high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
    Hebrews 6:20
whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
    Hebrews 7
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. 5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: 6 but he whose descent is not counted fromfrom them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. 7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. 8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. 9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. 10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13 For heof whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. 20 And inasmuchas not without an oath he was made priest: 21 (for those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) 22 by so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. 23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 24 but this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, andthen for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. 28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
Part one at around 17 minutes in, Alistair Begg's April 8, 2020 presentation on Melchizedek, Alistair begins to EISEGETE the birth of Melchizedek based on the KJV saying that he was made "like unto" the Son of God. Well here's where and why I disagree with him. He doesn't have biblical passages to show that he was a descendant of Jebu, or whoever he said. I conclude that because He is described as it is clearly written in Hebrews 7...
    3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God;
abideth a priest continually. [4] Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
And being described as such, he cannot have earthly parents. He is "like unto the Son of God" in that He was in human flesh, but therin lies the big difference between Melchizedek and Yeshua of Nazareth, Yeshua is born of Mariam, so that fleshly manifestation of God does have both a beginning of days, and the very end of days, as far as that flesh Tabernacle existed IN TIME. So that's my final conclusion concerning this mysterious man, Melchizedek.
Then at 21:40 Alistair says that he is a mere man, but His priesthood is not after the Levites blood line, but that He existed throughout eternity, but then He suddenly appears on the scene with Abraham who give Him tithes. Only s priest gets the tithes, so why did Abe give Him tithes?
I'm sorry, but your arguments are far less than convincing.

let me please add that Melchesidek was as a priest worshipping El Elyon the chief God of the caanaite pantheon also called the "father of the gods". As He was only blessing He is clearly to destinct from the God designated to the Israelites YHWH who brought the ministry of death and condemnation, the Mosaic law. It is obvious that the Lord Jesus Christ referred to EL when speaking about His Father.

YHWH means to “behold the hand, behold the nail” as well he “he is, was, and always will be”
The name YHWH represents the voice and prophecy of God’s word,
the name is another characteristic of a specific aspect of God (El) the mostly high (Elyon)
Just because false prophets ministered death and condemnation in the name YHWH
does not falsify the origin and source of the name, it only reflects the word of the false prophets.
In the same way historically people use the name of the Messiah Yeshua Jesus Christ to spread death and condemnation (the inquisition for instance) that in no way tarnishes the Truth of Christ the Messiah,
it only is truth twisted by the words of false prophets,
as the devil can not create, he can only twist what is true.
He twists our perception of Holy names and concepts to create division between Gods Children

Very simply Melchizadek was created (not born of anything earthly) before earth was created and was Priest of the heavenly tabernacle made by God in Heaven before time began. The earthly tabernacle and earthly Aaronic priesthood were just a copy of what was in heaven and temporary until Christ came to shed His blood on the mercy seat in the heavenly tabernacle thus cleansing heaven of the filth of Satan and opening the way for us to worship in Spirit and truth now having the High priest of heaven to deal with all our sins and make intercession for us.

Shem, the son of Noah, was still alive at the time of Abraham. (Genesis tells us the number of years Shem lived.) In the days of the patriarchs the oldest members of the family acted as the priests for that family. Noah offered sacrifices for instance. Perhaps Melchizadek was Shem.
