    2019 Acura MDX owner here. 6 year old battery kept dying and needed replacement. Bought new battery, brought it home, found this video and 1 hour later the new battery was installed. Would have taken me a lot longer had I not watched this first. There's something very comforting about approaching and completing a job after watching someone do that same job successfully. Thanks a lot Dave. Appreciate your videos.

    DIY DAVE! You saved my butt! My husband is deployed, we live in England, and my battery died in the dang parking lot of my kids soccer practice. With your simple video, I was able to take my battery out, take it to a store to find a new one, and put the new battery in by myself! And I don’t know the first thing about cars. I really really appreciate your videos!

    Thank you DIY Dave. Very clear and easy to follow. I am proud to say this "over 65, non-mechanic grandma" replaced the battery herself!

    Thanks, Dave! 2016 here. Easy peasy after watching this, and you’re right, there are still almost no other vids on this job even in 2024!

    I am definitely NOT in my comfort zone under the hood of a car, yet I just successfully replaced our failing battery by using your video as a guide. Very helpful comments. Only suggestion for improvement would be a couple zoomed in shots to get a closer look at what you were describing. I’ll come back to DIY Dave for my next project outside my comfort zone.

    Thanks for posting. I was so confused when I first opened the hood. The only thing I will add is that the black clip / wire holder on the right hand side doesn't always come off with a "little jiggle". I had to put an adjustable wrench underneath it and give it a very "big jiggle".

    Dave, this was VERY helpful. I had an almost new battery in my 2014 MDX short out while in the backwoods of Ontario Canada. No service available but was able to find a battery. Your tutorial was perfect. Did the replacement in about an hour and we will be able to make our "escape"! Thanks.

    I never comment on anything but I wanted to give a big thanks to this video. I was able to replace my original battery with an Autocraft battery. Note that the Autocraft batteries come with a handle that is not designed to be removed so the battery cover might need some finessing to put on before that hook bracket.

    Good video and description! My problem was that 3 "posts" from the top cover are lost forever in the engine bay. Be very careful once you pop up the cover to make sure the post isn't loose in the slot and ready to disappear forever; grab it before moving on.

    Thanks for your vidoe. I like the fact that you took the time to show how to do this. I also like that you choose an Interstate battery, its a good brand, as my experience with Acura batteries have been terrible, 1-3yrs. What i normally do is clean the terminal and connector with wire brush. Really good to clean the areas like you did while you are in there. I don't use vaseline/petroleum jelly but one of those anti-corrison (felt?) washers

    Thanks for posting this. It’s -25 C here and the battery is stone cold dead. You think they would put a ground tab somewhere in that area. I wonder what they would recommend for a suitable ground.

    Nice video, Thanks for posting it, Any plans on making video about spark plugs replacement ?

    • @DIYDAVE
      @DIYDAVE  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mario Mlotkowski, Realtor - I did think about it but there are so many videos that already cover it. I did jut recently do my spark plug service and there is plenty of room for access to the rear. The trickiest plug in the rear center, you just need to move the cable there over. As in just push it while you get the plug out / insert. No need to take that off like some videos show.
      Do not use anti-seize.
      Cheers.

    Like your videos on the 2015 Acura MDX. One question - I know that this vehicle takes 0W20 oil. But does it need to be synthetic? If not, what did you use? Thanks

    • @DIYDAVE
      @DIYDAVE  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steven Nahulak - I am glad you are enjoying them and ideally you are learning how to do this yourself.
      The MDX doesn’t require synthetic but that’s all I have been using since the first oil change. I don’t recall seeing anything but synthetic or a blend for 0/20. In general Synthetic protects longer and I feel better following the Maintenance Minder since it goes about 6-7k between changes. With conventional oil or a blend I’d change every 3k no matter the maintenance minder trigger.
      Happy DIY’ing

    I have 2017 mdx
    Car doesn’t start if I drive 2 hours and turn it off than starting it right away
    I have to asked for the help to jump start it and it does start
    But if I Driver like 2 hours and turn it off and restart it after 2 hours ,it does start
    What could be the problem
    Does the battery gets hot

    • @DIYDAVE
      @DIYDAVE  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naiz Khan - I am sorry you having this problem, I can bet it’s very frustrating!
      Your vehicle should still be under warranty so I’d bring it to Acura to diagnose as you seem to have a very specific issue. You can also try joining an MDX forum like mdxers.com as someone else may have experienced the issue you are having.
      I wish I could be of more help.

    • @antikoolaid9891

      These mdxs kill batteries. The extra lights and the trunk motors drain them especially when they are operated with the engine off. Get that battery replaced under the new car warranty asap.
