@@lisgraa82 Then why was there a leak that specifically said Sims 5 Cancelled. For PS5, but still the words "Sims 5" was found on an official document. I think there was a point where they were planning on Renee being Sims 5. But they don't want to risk the mainline game franchise if the playerbase rejects multiplayer so they pivoted
What worried me the most is how redundant some of the options are with stuff we already have... Get Famous, Island Living, Jungle Adventure, Outdoor Retreat... I wouldn't necessarily hate another take on a done concept, even as a game pack we have to buy, as long as (1) it's much more thorough in scope than a refresh and gives us many meaningful additional options, not just shallow reskins, and (2) IT BLENDS AND HAS INTERACTIVITY WITH ITS SISTER PACKS!!! please. im begging u, EA...
I noted a few of those. While they sound fun on their own right, what at first seemed unique does have some overlap that idk how I feel. and of course, I do want to see any pack intregate and add on to the game
So, I thought the same thing until I saw the long description on the sims community. They didn't do a good job on the short descriptions. I would if that was on purpose or just an oversight. I suggest you read all the descriptions. They actually discibe thongs the players have been asking for or use mods for that should be in the game.
I picked the "gritty city" one, but with the added feedback of adding in superpowers which could be a skill tree similar to vampires, werewolves etc. so that our sims can be superheroes/villians. Which is a concept I've wanted for a while.
I picked this one, but I just want actual cops that can like arrest you and the chance to actually be a criminal with some risk/rewards. Its also the only concept they had that really fit naturally into Sim-life play.
YESSSS me too, I picture there being like a Supersim occult type with the skill tree, and then also having separate Hero and Villain careers with a variety of alignments, so you could be a vampire superhero or a powerless billionaire vigilante or a supersim supervillain or just a regular crime lord etc.
The retro stuff sounds great and a good throwback to both Sims and real life history with babysitting, newspaper routes, drinking from the hose, and of course landlines. I've wanted landlines for a while. I dig the van life and the crime one too. Van life could be good for Scooby-Doo. Crime sounds like it'd add extra grungy items for builds.
I really liked the retro 80s/90s stuff, the cyberpunk dystopia, and the criminal city dystopia. I spent *ages* choosing just 2 (went with 80s/90s and cyberpunk) when they asked us to narrow down. Also, yes, I really want more shabby build/buy options, and both the cyberpunk and criminal city dystopias would provide some of that!
I am so happy to see others interested in that one! def does feel like a bit of a throwback to past games with its own features some . maybe the sample here is biased ha I never thought about it with Scooby doo ha that sounds fun
yeah hard to say. ideally it would add a multifunctional feature and we could create our own malls it could however be done like high school years, where there is only one lot that could function as the mall. I don't mind a rabbit hole for a few things (like a cinema if needed) but would want mostly interactive stores, food court etc
@@SimmerErin I wouldn't even be mad if we only had one fixed lot that could function as a mall as long as we could customize it. They probably would do something like that to lock the gameplay behind the expansion pack.
I, of course, voted for the Apocalyptic one, because like I have already said, it sounds like the closest we'll get to CASTAWAY! 😭 The whole system of collecting resources to build stuff from the blueprint, like Shelter, Fire Pits, Furniture, and Tools really just ignites the sparks in my eyes and my excitement! 🤩 I feel like they're trying to combine the idea of an Apocalyptic survival environment with the mechanic of CASTAWAY. I personally don't mind if we get more exploration packs and worlds like Jungle Adventure and Selvadorada because imo it's really fun and has a replayability value in my book 😁 as opposed to like, let's say Stramgerville. I also want to share that not every single Post-Apocalyptic game or world is always dark and gloomy or filled with Zombies and Spooky Creatures. I play a game which is called My Time at Sandrock, and it essentially takes place hundreds of years after an Apocalyptic event, and the world around it is not gloomy, but instead, the direction of it is much more wholesome, hopeful, and brighter as opposed to what is commonly pictured in a Post-Apocalyptic world. My second option was definitely the Mall one as I said with how much jam packed it is with gameplay and unique ideas that I've always wanted. 💚
I picked the cyberpunk and the royalty choices. i felt like they were the most unique compared to a lot of the content we've gotten in the past for Sims 4. Unfortunately, I don't really trust them to do any of the themes properly anymore.
yeah, my biggest concern would be that disclaimer of how they may pick and choose features.. and some of these actually especially the two you picked.. I could see so much potential in a more expansive setting like their own spinoffs
I love the mall one with the 80's/90's theme world and the summer camp as kids need more activities like elders! Wonder if they would add hotels/resorts to this or the ocean world one?
probably not on top of everything else listed but it's hard to say. there's a disclaimer they may pick and choose select features / each description. it's possible they pare it down then add something else
Those were my two choices, especially the retro pack. I would love an enclosed world where you go back in time, but your modern sims can’t go there unless with a Time Machine.
Ooooo, I would really like the fossil/plant life idea. Being able to build a natural history museum somewhat along the lines of Jungle Adventure would be cool!
I agree ... I have advocated for the team to put the "archeology nodes" from Jungle Adventures in each world, with new artifacts to find, because otherwise the Archeology "career" gets really redundant quickly. Fossils/plant life would be an interesting way to expand upon that, and then we could call our Sims paleontologists instead :D
@@MaximusBoggington , the sims have a sort of 18th century apporoach to natural science, with no real separation between crystals, fossils and artifacts. That's OK with me, but the team should have a look at their museum system. It's very arts-focused so far.
The Van life idea having "Better Elders" thrown at the end really does seem so random and feels so out of place, and that made me think if Better Elders aren't coming with the new EP? Coz tbh, I was kinda expecting them to make Elders more interesting in the upcoming EP. Now that they still mention it in Idea No. 2, I was a bit anxious if there might be nothing too substantial for Elders in the upcoming EP, because "Better Elders" seem to be mentioned here in the survey. With that being said, I definitely noticed how the most anticipated themes from the community, such as Bands, Hobbies, and Fairies aren't mentioned at all in the survey. As far as I recall in the past, they didn't include the themes that they are already working on or plan on doing in the near future since it's definitely happening. I can't help but wonder if three of these themes are finally gonna become a thing in the next year or two...
someone said it could be that there are people now retiring that are getting into RV travel .... but yes, that struck me too. I wonder what this ep will entail....
The van life pack has a focus on elders because a lot of old people buy vans and RVs and just travel around after they retire. It's far from a new thing, my great grandfather and his third wife traveled until he died. It's not that the pack is specifically focused on improving the elder lifestage, it's just that the pack would add a good bit of content specifically for them because that's like, realistic. They're not going to like, drop a "Better Elders" update and then never touch them again. Every new expansion will, or at least SHOULD, add something to all the lifestages. That's the point of them.
@@destinee6590I agree that EPs should work that way, and that it should be the bare minimum of what any EP includes, but very few of them have in the past.
I think/hope that they'll include a Bucket List aspiration for elders. Elders could travel to different locations, collect souvenirs, etc. They could expand the postcard collection, etc. I also think elders should have an interaction to "rediscover lost love/reconnect with old friend" that would unlock new interactions and provide unique rewards.
All of these packs sound really interesting to me, especially the cyberpunk and royalty ones. I just really hope they’d actually make them very interesting and compatible with other packs we already have. The premises all sound cool, but of course it’s a matter of if they’ll actually give them depth
Any Sims game could go on for a very very long time, but the engine would disagree at some point. Some things I think can't be done now I.e. editing worlds, fully opening the districts, and CAW. it could be hints for what's to come with project Rene which if it's going to be 100% online. Ah of course, the DLC argument.
Yeah I don't think we're going to see fully open worlds ever. The one question though made me wonder what they think they can do it could be, but this survey is specifically for sims 4
For my picks I quite liked the post apocalyptic option and the full ocean expansion. I felt like Island living was so shallow compared to what we got with Island Paradise in the Sims 3 that I need that other 70% they missed out. The van life idea wasn't bad. The vigilante one sounds kinda cool. Ideally, and I've seen other commenters say this; we need the basics. We need a better gameplay loop altogether. We need a fully functional game. If we are not getting the Sims 5, we need a better engine under all of this, a full retrofit. Someone needs to go through all of the code and recode it using some kind of discipline.
@@SimmerErinI love the idea of a monarchy pack but think it would be better as a spin off game. Then it could incorporate different time periods as your monarchy grows and expands. It would be great to start in a feudal or medieval period and flow into Renaissance, Georgian, Regency, Victorian, and onwards. Could also add in periods from other non-Eurocentric cultures like China, Japan, Africa, etc - each with their own monarchy or dynasty in a separate world.
I want normal stuff. Hotels, malls, school for kids, arcades, bands, multi-use lots, etc. More destination vacation packs like Outdoor Retreat or World Adventures. I'd never buy a monarchy pack or villian/superhero pack, those sound like spin-offs. First and foremost, I want them to heavily focus on fixing the game, improving the backend so it can actually handle more content without creating a mountain of bugs and making sure packs aren't released broken in the first place. The last couple of years have been a complete sh*tshow. It's clear we're stuck with The Sims 4 for a good long while yet, but they need to show they are serious about keeping it alive and well for the remainder of it's lifespan, however long that may be. And game packs released as expansion packs just means I will wait for those expansions to be discounted down to game pack prices. This is unacceptable. Shareholders be damned.
at very least, hiring a new team (finally) and having much larger patches seems to be a good step in the right direction. the best would be also to not have an ep for a long bit- one per year max. Though I don't see it happening
I love the idea of the summer camp gameplay but they need to fix something that also impacts University - In theory, you have the children going off alone, so will the remaining family autoplay, possibly leading to random deaths or pregnancies? I don't know if we need open world so much as the ability to multitask between a limited number of lots. It's annoying enough that you can't leave family members at home to go on a date etc without coming back to them randomly grilling something at 2am... I feel like that also hits a number of the other pack ideas like undersea exploration, where most of your active household will not be involved. I don't like the idea of the alternate time periods, but that's more about how it integrates with my own play. Sims 3 Into The Future was goofy, I had some fun with it because it was different, but I'm fine with not going back to it. Sailing/cruising is an interesting one, I had a houseboat in Sims 3 and I can maybe see how you could have maybe a boat lot that would pull in to coastal neighbourhoods for quick visits, but have sites on the boat where you could have some activities. I doubt the ship could have an onboard casino though!
I would love to be able to have a rough world. maybe not a fallen civilisation. But you know a world where most building should have been renovated a decade or two ago.
@@SimmerErin Yeah you only really get a hint of grime or shabbiness from an industrial Evergreen Harbor or from the unacceptably *tiny* werewolves world. And a few build/buy options from City Living.
Sleepaway camp! YES! I've actually asked for something like this on the official forums! Hope I get to take this survey, will check when I get home later.
Many of these sounds more like complicated scenarios or spin off games than packs for TS4. However, I was fascinated by the survey itself. It was very much tailored by what I chose when they were asking about which are my favorite pack subjects. Their description of an ocean-based pack sounded great (although I told them it was what I had been hoping Island Living would be but that I'd buy it in a heartbeat.) It would be interesting to see all the various options in the survey rather than having them limited by what I was already interested in.. (I suspect their option for "over 45" is set so low because they really don't care about anyone who is older than that. That's why I chose to say "I prefer not to answer." As you and I have discussed recently, they don't seem to care about any age group except 18-25.)
Sleep away camp/van life could be combined into a fun pack. The mall and 70’s/80’s/90’s/and even time traveling could all be combined, too. The ocean diving and traveling sounds interesting and fun but couldn’t it be combined with the last two you mentioned with costal landscapes and uncharted extreme environments? They’ve done similar packs in the past with their old Sims Stories packs where you were on an island. I wouldn’t turn down any of these to be honest, but I’d want them to be combined into PROPER EXPANSION PACKS, with true meat and substance with actual game changing play. The biggest chaos in the game though has got to be their issues with routing errors.
one could argue a lot could be combined, yes thing is, the disclaimer signals the opposite: that any of these are likely to be trimmed down HOWEVER if you look at the 2020 survey they did *technically* combine high school w/ cheer etc
One of the ones I choose on the survey was the van one because I desperately want cars in game. Was disappointed when I saw the full description as it seemed like "customizable van" just sounds like a object you have your sim attach things to (like the crib) and not really something a builder can mold without playing. Plus no cars other than a van was mentioned in the description.
I went for the criminal expansion and the travel/elder one. We definitely could use some details on the Criminal career because its so barebones at the moment and I rather just like traveling. (And cars)
Almost/all of these could be refreshes that actually make expansion packs worth $40 The monarchy one could be the political side to Get famous The crime city could be a district in city living The mall in get to work The van life in growing together Summer camp in outdoor retreat Sailing in island living Etc. My point is eps are now becoming game packs and that’s sad. Hopefully it’ll change. Secondly, these packs all overlap but will probably have no cross pack compatibility which just makes the game so disjointed. 😔
I think it's pretty clear by these pack ideas that the sims team just aren't interested in making traditional expansions & game packs anymore. It seems like they want to tell stories more than provide a sandbox & tools for the players to do their own thing. Sort of like the Sims 2 Castaway or The Sims Medieval. I enjoyed both of those games for what they were, but they could never replace ts2 or ts3 for me. They were like a side dish, whereas ts2 & ts3 were like the main course. I guess I'm just.....not as interested in these kinds of games, at least not when I've already experienced a Sims game that prioritizes sandbox mode over story mode. Idk, it's not why I personally play the sims. When i play the sims, it's a solo experience totally dependent on what i come up with on my own. I'm telling the story to myself, making it up as i go, and that's what i love about it!! I'm not against framework to help me tell a different kind of story, which is why i enjoy some of the more specific packs such as Horse Ranch & Cottage Living (since those packs' fearures work best within the the game worlds they were intended for.....otherwise u have a horse parked on the sidewalk in Willow Creek lmao 😅) but overall I tend to prefer doing my own thing rather than following someone else's plan. So this is all.....pretty disappointing for me tbh 😅 But i guess I'll have to wait and see. For now, I'm just a little bummed out, but it's literally the least of my worries rn.....😒
the modern monarchy is prob their closest to one; another reminded me of elements of castaway but in a different environment. I'm a bit split on that- it's always a discussion, as some want remakes of things, others want all new. I think it's simply best balanced out. I also feel spin off games in many ways were best as spin offs so they could be fully fleshed out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, hope you're okay!
@@SimmerErin yeah, I think the modern monarchy one sounded pretty similar. And it's true that a lot of the side games were great as their own independent games, I loved the sims urbz lmao 😂 I guess we'll have to wait and see!! I'm definitely willing to change my mind, if the newer stuff goes well. (And I'll be ok, thanks very much for the kind words ☺️🙏)
When I took the survey and immediately thought of you Erin. 😊 This is probably another survey that you may be referring to in the future. I voted for the retro mall specifying customization with the shops. I also mentioned that I would like to see a lot of retro items like landline phones, VHS players and tapes and cassette tapes as well. My other vote was for the oceanic world and I mentioned that I would be more interested in seeing an underwater world. I also wrote that with a pack like this it would be a perfect time to refresh mermaids and their overall system by expanding it more like the vampires and werewolves. I enjoyed taking the survey. Let's see what comes out of it.
Ha yes, I certainly will. who knows, I may end up looking at it as much as that good old 2020 survey. I did find it funny to see some overlap with this survey and the 2020 one.. and even a few much older ones too The Mall one is by far my fav! for those items and indeed a connection to past games,. maybe it's my nostalgia talking yeah... I don't dislike IL as many do, only feel it has more potential. it's a gorgeous world and has some interesting content
I found it ridiculous how some of the ideas are so jam packed with gameplay and stuff we don't have yet and others with basically almost what we already have but wrapped in different words. The Mall one is insane to me how there's gonna be ARCADE (Oh you bet I was waiting over 5 years for it to come!), COMIC STORE (unexpected!), TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAME (essentially D&D Omg hell yeah!) / TABLETOP CAFE, RAMEN SHOP (unexpected! pt.2), but also on top of that potentially ACTIVE CAREER OF LIFEGUARD, BABYSITTER, NEWSPAPER PERSON, and also WATER SLIDE??? I know that they might take out one or two from here as the disclaimer states but these to me feels so full of fun stuff that could be so entertaining imo. Whereas the Kids Camp idea really feels like it's so vague. They keep mentioning "activities" and "interests" but doesn't necessarily outright spell what activities those are gonna be that we don't necessarily have yet. In the end, it just feels like Granite Falls if it's better.
it was a little uneven.. the only thing I will say is that disclaimer of they may pick and choose certain things.. so I bet the mall would not come with all that amazing as that'd be
I think the multi-purpose lot thing being possible would be such a massive improvement to have in the game. It’s something that’s crossed my mind a bunch since For Rent happened. There’s now already a system for designating individual units, so it’s something I think could absolutely be possible to do. With a lot of the ideas shown, they feel redundant- like they could have been in other packs that already exist… Which raises the argument of maybe- and I know they haven’t done it since the one time with Spa Day- but implement some of those ideas into pack refreshes. I will say though, retro would be great for people who like doing more period or era-based gameplay/building… and a hobby pack could be good for introducing actual new gameplay. Some of this stuff just didn’t sound super EP-worthy though, tbh.
true. one could argue that for rent showcased there is in theory a foundation for doing so I agree.. I was mixed on a few of these being an ep. the sleep away camp especially
I would love the sailing one. Particularly cause i like the idea of living on a boat/ship/yacht. I know if you are creative enough you can have that on sulani island but everytime i try i have issues making thevlot playable because my sims always have ttouble interacting with the stuff on the lot.
Sounds like some interesting concepts. Not sure how the van life one would work, but I do like the things we can do with tiny houses so if its more compact stuff like that it would be interesting. The two that stand out most or my personal preference would be the Mall and the Cyberpunk themes. A mall would be awesome provided its not one big box with rabbit holes. Food stalls, shops, an arcade, we need more places for Sims to hang that isn't just a bar. Plus I love the prospect of what we could build on our own with the assets. Cyberpunk just sounds interesting, I've always been fascinated with Cyberpunk and Solarpunk worlds. Would be cool if we could have robotic limb replacements that look computer chippy/wirey/metal. I know these are only hypotheticals, but still those sound pretty good.
someone said they looked into the description more on van life and sounded like ones you can decorate but maybe not actually move,.. I honesty don't know Yeah, I do wonder what the mall would be like . I would be OK with a rabbit hole here or there but admittedly would want most of it- like the man shops etc- open. And so true about stalls and bars
i laughed seeing the cyberpunk, royalty, and apocalypse options. those are all llazyneiph mods and i know for a fact maxis would do those concepts worse than llazyneiph. their mods are so expansive and full of features and detail
ok first of all, whimsical and dystopian are two words that i never thought i would hear together in the same sentence lol. and that kinda highlights my personal gripe with ts4. because of its teen rating its so demure and safe all of the time, and im sorry but if your gonna go the cyberpunk route then GO THERE, ya know? second of all as someone born in 85 but grew up in the 90s, malls were a whole ass experience that you could spend all day in lol. i would totally be down for an indoor mall theme, my only issue is that if they added retail shops like clothing stores, thats kinda redundant since sims automatically have access to all clothing in game through their dresser. (one of the reasons that clothing shops just dont make any sense in get to work since sims dont actually have to buy their clothes.) oh and thanks for that "retro" label on the 90s theme maxis, time to go book my colonoscopy and check myself into a nursing home early i suppose lol. and third, allow me to be catty for a moment and say i wonder how many simmers will look at these lists and say that 95% of it should have been in base game, or in a free update like they always do🙄
the mall def. sounds appealing to me, if done right. I know they had a mall in freeplay (and often stuff comes to sims 4) and they had the 2020 survey so seems highly considered. Am wondering why we are surveyed on it again though prob many ha. I am used to seeing such arguments
Actually my top two are ones I was hoping they’d do. That would be the boats and ocean one. After Island living didn’t contain underwater exploration, I was kind of thinking a boat pack would be how to put it back in. My other top choice is the mall pack, for much of the same reasons. I also like the sound of adding in some retro gameplay. The other packs I mostly like, van life and criminal seem ok, I wouldn’t mind them. Summer camp and adventure camp seems pretty cool, I would hope they would expand / refresh the scouting activity. They both sound pretty similar, I can see them being two game packs. Post apocalypse sounds kind of odd, I’m not sure how it would fit in. I’m also not too into the cyberpunk one and I’m not really interested in a royalty pack. But overall, reading all these pack suggestions makes me glad they are continuing the Sims 4.
summer camp feels like a weird pack, i would thing it would have been apart of one of the other packs. but a future or cyberpunk pack could bring interesting. The mall one is weird and im kinda surprised they aren’t castaway type expansion cause i would love to vote people off the island
summer camp while I see the general appeal would be lower on my list. I know the arguments can get old, but it does feel like part of a different pack. hm, weird how so?
@@SimmerErin i would have probably put summer camp with the highschool pack or the outdoor retreat. It essentially would have been what the vacation homes would have been, you go there for a set number of days and so on. The other would have been if you failed in school you go to summer camp /summer school which would have made all the schooling for your sim have more consequences if you slacked off.
or they could just take inspo from real life malls.... yknow, to appeal to everyone and make it more realistic? we don't need another stranger things inspired pack
No hotels/resorts?? Hopefully that means that and multi functional lots are in the works already. Even though I pretty much feel it will be disappointing 😅😂These options worry me about in the way most are worded it almost feels as if they are trying to get us used to in Game quest rewards and the reason I play the sims is to play at my own pace with no reason to 'win' or accomplish anything in a set time and if they start adding this element to gameplay I don't think that's what most of us meant by we want better gameplay! But world editing I'm completely here for, probably the only thing I've heard in a long while for Sims 4 that has me excited! I also stand baffled in why 10 years in sims 4 and like a century past sims 2 why can't they just mimic sims 2 gameplay? Like that was the pinnacle. I took the survey, for me I like the nostalgia of the 80s 90s mall vibe if they could also tie in nostalgia sims 2 gameplay, revamp get to work shopping and it definitely needs multi functional lots imo. My mall memories range from feeding ducks, pictures with Santa and getting snacks or food in the food court to hanging out in the arcade or seeing a movie or browsing cool shops and occasional bands or a celebrity would be at the mall lol I also picked modern royal if they could revamp the political career, give me historical aspects tied to in Game lore, a historical lot trait, I can experience a proper high tea, polo and curate art and focus on generational legacy!
not mentioned here anyway. keep in mins surveys often occur well ahead before the packs come out, so I presume they already have maybe up to 1-2 years of packs ahead of tis survey
I completely agree with everything you said. I do not want to be given timed chores to do in a storytelling game, or have content locked behind doing the company’s bidding for their benefit. None of these options sound like much fun they way they are wording them
I did the survey. And I did it quick by clicking "Not Interested" on all of their checkboxes. I even wrote in the Other section by saying "I won't buy anything until you fix the damn game!". That's not just my opinion. That's my experience with the game.
@@SimmerErin All of them. The Items Removed bug I want gone, the constant game crashes, the Failed to load, everything. I spent over $1,000 on this "game", and for what? For the company to screw with their consumers? This is why I won't play the game anymore.
I'm a big fan of packs that really change the way you play, so you don't need to "visit another world" to feel the new features of the expansion. That's why I love packs like Pets, Seasons, or Growing Together. I'm still hoping that we can customize the worlds even more, I want to be able to play in the old town from Sims 1 or Pleasantview from Sims 2.
Pick only 2 on the 5th question, though? 3 of them are *so* close that I really struggled to only pick 2. Went with 80s/90s and Cyberpunk, but it was super tough to choose between those and the criminal city dystopia. On the questions about specifics about packs we might like, I am really stumped by the questions about whether CC/mods can provide those experiences. I honestly have *no idea,* as though I am glad CC/mods are available, I have no interest in using CC/mods, myself. Aside from things like maxis match items, alpha-cc, and wicked whims I just don't know what's out there. I wish they'd broken it down in another way so that those of us who don't use CC can meaningfully answer the questions - even if that just means marking that we don't use cc/mods.
ha I think that's what I picked too- and several others here too. but I felt weird picking just two yeah, I too don't use cc or mods. I get loads of people do.. so I guess they are worried people will not buy.. because mods exist? But usually mods have less scope and may even break with said pack.
I legit dont want any of the options, I want hotels, bands. Maybe cars in some way, like a car workshop. Why cant they just make basic things people wish for instead, of these weird original ideas.
I kinda think- this is just a theory- that they already have bands lined up. Surveys can result in packs, but a pack can take a year even two or so to make. so we can presume these ideas we won't see for a while
They won't add in cars. We kinda have hotels already so I don't see them adding that. I do think they'll add bands at some point though. I really wish we had the color wheel but we won't ever have that either.
While this survey may be labelled for Sims 4, it could easily be for Rene and they don't want to make that known. I really can't see building neighbourhoods being a thing for Sims 4, at least not something that would be meaningful. At best it'll be off lot decorating or something similar. The cyberpunk part sounds like the Sims 4 version of the Sims 3's future pack that many are expecting to appear at some point.
@@TONZAMUSIC You missed the point I didn't make very clearly. The survey may state it's all Sims 4 but that doesn't mean it has to be used for Sims 4. 🙂
@@TONZAMUSIC Maybe it's my cynical nature but I've learnt over the years not to believe anything stated for investors. It's all about bigging things up to make them appear better (and more profitable) than they are. These things never show reality. @@TONZAMUSIC You're still missing the point. I never mentioned the Sims 5 at all and when did I say anything about any of these being the first packs? Or even mention packs at all. Oh yeah, I didn't. I'm not going to drag this out further with someone who managed to create an almost completely irrelevant comment to everything I've said. It really isn't worth the trouble.
I love the idea of the gritty world pack. It would be fun if there was like a prison, and you could escape it It'd also be really cool if it was tied to other careers like detective, or lawyers and such.
The biggest reason for me for not playing live mode in ts4 is the fact that it all feels so shallow and not alive. Compared to the sims 3 with the open world it felt like each sim had a personality and everyone felt different to me, in the sims 4 everyone is basically the same walking around aimlessly. I wish they would open up each neighbourhood so you could visit your neighbours/the park/restaurant etc without a loading screen. Opening up areas like that would make the world feel more alive to me I think. Today I only build in the sims 4 and if I’m craving making a story and playing in live mode I just boot up sims 3. I didn’t mind the empty places that much that slowly filled up with sims because your own sim was there, I could look past that in community lots so I wouldn’t mind it too much if that was the case for ts4.
If they can keep most stuff $10 and under and the major stuff $20, I’m down. It’s not fair to pay $40 for broken gameplay, a couple janky hairstyles, and 3 new lots.
I don't see prices being lowered. Eps are the same price as 10 years ago- though one could perhaps argue we get less content I can't think of any eps with that few of lots- aside from the tiny world with get to work. we average 12-14 / ep
I didn't get the survey either. I got the link from someone else. most often, the team sends out the survey to a limited number of people or a random sampling.
You can already make some sort of Mall on a 64x64 lot. But would love to see in the sims that your able to use the elevator on each floor you make. And I wonder what project renee is. And what I love is if they make it able to play sims multiplayer/coop
Despite being pretty skeptical about how well the hypothetical packs would work, the mall, superhero, criminal and van life ideas sound the most appealing to me. *Mainly the mall one. I was born in 99’ and missed out on all of the 80s/90s staples, so getting to reenact those decades could be fun.
I did pick the camping one, cause I have fond memories of summer camp as a child. I was very excited to see, in the more detailed explanation, that it would include camp myths and discovering new creatures. That makes it sound like a Cryptid expansion and I’m so there for that 🤞
most of these concepts sound good. my only gripe is on the nest question when they give you more info about each concept they list quite a few feature we already have in other packs. for example i picked the kids camp one and they listed babysitters, lifeguards, community pools, rollerblading, and waterslides as features. we already have that stuff. there are so many other water features idk why we would get another waterslide? unless the babysitter is an active career, but in that case i would rather it be a daycare and not geared towards teens. but then would that even fit into the pack concept? idk
Here are some ideas I can think of for additional gameplay items / hobbies Van Life : Fixer-Upper Car Ocean Exploration : Beach Volleyball & Surfing I'm pretty sure there people have a lot more that could be added to make some of these feel fuller as an Expansion.
I'm not sure how I feel about TTRPGs being highlighted for an 80s/90s themed pack. Because on the one hand, I want TTRPGs to be in life sims, and it fits the 80s like a glove. It feels like the first peak of TTRPGs is in the 80s. But while White Wolf were doing their WoD thing in the 90s, the 90s is when I associate with the start of their decline meaning that anything with 90s in the name isn't something I'd particularly associate with TTRPGs generally. (And I think that highlights a problem I have with 80s/90s as a pack. It's a _very_ broad era. The 90s alone has three distinct aesthetics in my head - Neon; Industrial Grunge; Cyber-Goth. I like it, don't get me wrong, I'm just not sure how you can make that coherent as a _thing_ ) ...Also while boardgames were a thing in the 80s and to a lesser extent 90s (although it's not until the mid 00s to mid 10s that their commercial and cultural renaisance truly began - Seemingly in response to the common adoption of smart phones as a means for people to find time away from screens), the first boardgame cafes started emerging in South Korea around 2004, and spread to the North American continent around about 2010 (we're not _sure_ snakes and lattes in Toronto was the first, but it was the one that made people realize they were viable in the West, making a 'gameboard cafe' positively anachronistic to an 80s/90s themed expansion. Again, something I _want_ but it feels weird for it to be in an 80s-90s pack.
It is indeed. I guess I'd take it as a mall based pack with a blend of things from both the 80s and 90s- it seems to also be focused on some nostalgic nods to past sims games too
The 80s is when I remember parents and ultra religious people freaking out about kids LARPing to death or becoming possessed by demons from playing D&D.
Since the focus for the van life pack is on travel what if they added something like three small worlds that could maybe have a couple lots each but were mostly open and focused on being more interactive and explorable? And let's not forget to mention it's CRAZY that they're actually teasing us with real cars. But as TS4 is set up the potentially offroad compatible traveling van makes more sense than giving us commuter cars.
I chose the post-apocalyptic one, causing me to think of the fun Castaway gameplay. Adding more of a survival aspect to Sims sounds fun. I also chose the crime and Heists one... hoping that would bring back robbers. The mall one sounds good for the potential of multifunctional lots and arcade items.
yeah, I was close to picking the apocalypse one... I think maybe I should have picked that as my second choice instead but in general struggled to pick just a second one. I think either way those could add some interest to the game. and I will agree I want actual robbers to return
i chose the modern royalty and 80s and 90s packs- and explained how i would never use them for their intended purposes 😂 id use aspects from both for a victorian save file but id only really consider the royalty one unless we see more vintage stuff in the 80s pack
this made me laugh "I will never use them... as intended yeah it could be useful for that. The modern royalty one I'd prob skip buying unless they really wowed me I like some strategy games like civ, age of empires etc but I'm more keen on different time periods... I will say though if it's going to be in sims 4, it's a better fit
I am trying to think what I would want in a pack, a Cyberpunk one could be really fun if done right. 80/90s could also be very cool Many of these ideas are cool but not for the Sims, if I want for example intrigue at court I would play Crusader Kings 3, it is a really cool thing but how would it even work. I want Sims 4 to be great but I think if we got a new base in 5 or vent back to earlier games, I miss things like landline phones, newspapers and cars.
those were the two I picked yes.. exactly.. I think there is a reason some things are better as their own game.. I feel most strongly that way about the monarchy theme
"I actually do currently still have a mall near me that I go to in person sometimes. I know, SHOCKER!" I shouldn't have laughed that hard. THAT WAS GOLD 😂
@@SimmerErin WHAT? That's weird as hell. Where I live, Malls are pretty much still alive and thriving. I know things might be different in a few U.S. towns.
as someone who graduated HS in 88 I'd love for the 80s or also the sailing world, I don't care about the modern monarchy, I don't care about the real ones.
I took the survey a few hours ago, and I feel like the "Build a World & Neighborhood" option is a bit out of context. The way it was presented with the question didn't really give me something like Create a World, which before I took the survey, occured to me if that's really happening even though we all know it is very unlikely. The way I took it is more like how you build and create the world around you to feel more cohesive and lived-in.
Even though I think that Life and Death Pack sounds interesting, I DO have some concerns about the amount of buggs or glitchrs IF it ends haveing ANY. That said it does soynd interesting. Also, when we had that update yesterday, my game ran a bit smoother. It RAN FASTER in game play but it ran smoother. I did NOT have to wait to to long for my sim to DO a task I had them do. It took a few but NOT as LONG as would BEFORE this update. It was NICE I DID though, HAVE to SLOW my game's speed down some by going into my option menu. Even AFTER that it still continued to RUN smoother. I WISH it could ALLWAYS run smooth as is now but I can't set myself too HIGH on hopes. But I AM glad that this update HELPED to have my game run a bit better over all and I DO HOPE that from here on out that what ever type of system the Sims team is USEING That IT DOES continue to help this 10 year old game out and help to RUN better. Because tbh that's ALL I realy WANT is a working game. Don't we all? SO this system they are useing MaY hopefully be a GOOD thing. We CAN ONLY HOPE though rite? 😊 Also then grim event sound pretty cool too. I like some of the ideas in it too. Hope it's as FUN as it looks. 🤔🤔👍 That said, Ty for the post and all you DO for us to keep us all in the loop on info as much as you possibly CAN. Ty and please take care Erin. HOPE youHave a NICE week as well. 💖👍✌
good! I am hearing from a variety of players now that performance is at least a bit better. progress I guess You have a good weekend too! appreciate you
The ones that interested me: ocean pack: mermaids revamp? please burglar: genies would fit perfectly, also we need more naughty sims and return of burglars post apocalypse: MADE for rags to riches and historical challenges. Could do something with plant sims? modern royalty: fairies!! also, great for rags to riches and historical challenges as well
I chose the one for coastals but inputted it should be more focused on creating the mermaid experience since mermaids suck. You really don't get to swim underwater or actually live as a mermaid. Would be cool to have a world specifically for mermaids that's under the ocean and build aquatic houses
Wow these ideas just show Sims 4 is scraping the bottom of barrel for more packs. Of course these concepts could have been refreshes or game packs, but EA will make them as expansions. Heist or crime life could have been an update for Get to Work, being a mirror to the Law Enforcement active career. Hear me out, "Van life" in Sims 4 means you can live in a stand still van instead of able to have a van to drive around. Cyberpunk is really cool but I doubt it can be an EP. Monarchy would have been nicer if it is a spin off. So does the post apocalyptic world. Malls could have been updates from any other packs (High School Years for a teen hangout, Growing Together for a family outing place)
to your third point: yes, that is very possible and should be considered for those looking at van life I def agree with monarchy being better as a spin off.. prob cyberpunk as well
Van life.. we have tiny living. we have outdoor camping activities. we don't have cars. Also they're like 5 years too late on that boat. The rest of these ideas are great but they don't really fit in with the game that we currently have. Except for the 80s-90s nostalgia. Feed me!
So, I'm going to say this, I read the longer descriptions on the Sims Community website, and the only one that doesn't sound intriguing to me is the cyber punk city. (I still want it though). All over these things need to come to the Sims 4 because these are all things that the community wants. And they know this. Also, I hate that we can't select more options in the survey to show this. We can only pick 1, 2, or 3 options after a point. That was disappointing because I wanted more than 2 of the pack ideas. But anyway, I hope we do get all of the content in some form or another. They mentioned water slides, roller blading, and more pets. I did get the option to build a world/ neighborhood in my survey. I know some are not seeing it .
ah! I didn't know someone had collected all the long descriptions somehow yeah... I think a) they should show the full descriptions and b) allow for more selection.. or maybe just to rank the ideas, which they have I think done before; maybe they feel it is easier to quickly analyze this way, but that analysis may have less meaningful information
I voted for cyberpunk and 80/90s historical expansion. A dystopian world is something EA never provided to us. And asking how much we find options mod-like was really interesting. As if they didn't expect us to find out Lovestruck is just a rip-off of WW.
Oh no I'm not even just retro but historical now LOL I do think cyberpunk has potential.. I think that is the other one I voted for two, albeit it was hard to decide. I'm longing for something a bit more out there so to speak
@@SimmerErin Yeah for sure, I took the survey and it included a lot of things people are pretty interested in within the community. I’m just saying: If we’re never getting a Sims 5… There’s not really the “Oh, we’re putting it in the next game!” line to fall back on. This is now THE game
90s is retro? *insert Matt Damon aging GIF* The mall one could be cool, even if my mall adventures in the late 80s and 90s were mostly solo, but my interest peaked with the cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic ones. Besides the fact that I tend to love both genres, I also feel like they have the most to add to Sims 4. Pity there isn't as much interest in Steampunk, as that could be pretty cool, too.
ha, yes, I think anything prob 20 years old and up would be. I did see someone say historical though and died a little inside. Those were my top two picks too! Yes, I agree steampunk could have been interesting to explore
Tbh, so long as this game keeps trying to be FIXED and Runs Better, I MAY be ok with some future packs maybe. But NOT now as the game still NEEDS some work to be FIXED. Packs included that are buggy or glitchy. But thank you for the post and take care Erin. 👍✌
Im so annoyed bc i was having an error with the survey early in and then when I tried to open it again it said I'd already completed the survey which nooooo I hadn't i was like 3 questions in T_T
I voted for the retro pack and the modern monarchy. If I got to vote for a third it would have been Van Life. Just the idea of having a mobile home and not being stuck on one lot sounded appealing to me. However I had to pick two and so it goes..
I picked the gritty city and the survival one, but after hearing the details about the survival one I was less interested since I wasn't sure how it would work in gameplay when you can just go to another world to get food and stuff
yeah.... there are a few packs here where I wonder about both the challenge and functionality unless they limit you to play in said world like a quest you have to complete
It sounds like in some cases they are proposing send ups of existing games. Personally I spotted the GTA franchise, Cyberpunk 2077 (that one was fairly obvious!) and the Fallout series. It's a fun idea if I'm right but probably a bit gimmicky, like the dreadful Star Wars pack. As to what I would like, I'm afraid I'm going to sound like a broken record as I'm sure I've mentioned this before in comments here, but what I really want to see is an overhaul of the music system, which is pretty rubbish. As a music lover myself I want my sims to be able to play together much as they did in Sims 3, but maybe with even more options. I know it would be impractical to have a full symphony orchestra, but perhaps a string quartet or piano trio, a jazz band and a rock band or various other combinations. I'm sure that would be feasible and is much needed.
you could very well be right on that. Idk, it would depend a lot on the exectution. the cyberpunk does indeed remind me a lot of sims 3's pack just with a different skin on it so to speak
@SimmerErin I would like to see big ships 🚢 for the sims to explore but we know that won't happen or little boats the sims can go to explore the sea and do some painting or something to do there skills on
Idk why but I just knew there would never be another sims like sims 5, I felt like they would expand sims 4 and stop using numbers and just make it The Sims and have it more online so they can do way more and open up mods to console bc more ppl have PS4 or PS5 than a gaming computer. Let’s see! 🔮
@SimmerErin I would love to see a zoo pack with animals, or be able to create our own mythical creatures (maybe like dragons( like sims 3)besides unicorns. maybe include pigs to the farm too. Dont get me wrong, i love the sims, its my favorite game and has been since it first came out (Gen 1), but i had always wished it had more animals. Maybe a safari theme? Sorry if i missed the survey and that was a option. ❤️
My fav is the post apocalyptic world. Not sure how they would do it, but even if it's a "something happened, make it better" like Strangerville I'd love it. Like how sims would have to work together, work out who has which strengths & skills. Would love to see the wrecked world & rebuild it. And it mentions exotic pets which I've wanted forever. The one I like the least is the monarchy. If it had been medieval, I'd have liked it better. But a modern monarchy, not so much. Unless you can have revolutions & fights for the throne (in the way common in medieval times), then it's got more fun potential. Still not my fav. All the other one are cool.
I realize I imagined that a cyberpunk fused lol. I'd def be interested in that one of done well. I am a sucker for dystopians .. modem monarch is my bottom pick too. I really could see it falling flat and see the whole concept either way as. spin off. Actually I think a period not as explored would be interesting, and not based off of European.... but again, for a spin off
I hope the gsme will be able to sense how good your pc is and then allow you to put more lots or have T least the world semi open so no disteicts thst are locked but houses o ly loader fro outside of course Like genshin impackt does this wirh the tea pot if u have more ram and power u can place more items in the sandbox thingy (to breake it sown to people who dont play the game) means basicly phone players can place less items than i can with my amd9 and my 4060tibi think it was the 60 maybe its the 70 however my pc can handle more than a phone or my old pc that was verr verry outsated So i hope they find a mechanic to optomuze everyo es gsme e perience I also hope there will be an option before u stard a new game save that you can choose to diactivate certain gsme play and only keep the items so for example i love to retell storrys of my rpg charachters but growing together is alot in the way of it to the point where i regret getting the pack thats also why i decidet against love struck sure its nice chLanging gameplay if it doesnt bug around but 😅 for reteling a set storry its to challanging 😅

With The Sims 5 officially "canceled", the reality of years and years of incoming Sims 4 DLC is finally setting in...
yeah I know what you mean
It wasnt cancelled. Project Rene was never supposed to be The Sims 5.
Lol years and YEARS of kits 😂
@@rose13red "Creator" kits, so no work required on there part.
That's the problem with everything Sims 4 everything "new" is just slightly altered content we already have.
I really want the gritty world where we can play criminals!! Sometimes it’s so hard to have a naughty sim who gets into trouble.
yeah, especially since sims 4 leans towards less conflict in general
I picked the "gritty city" one, but with the added feedback of adding in superpowers which could be a skill tree similar to vampires, werewolves etc. so that our sims can be superheroes/villians. Which is a concept I've wanted for a while.
Me too, though I didn't ask for a skill tree, I just wrote I thought this would be more superhero/villain themed (or spy themed).
funny you say that. there was a purported survey listed under the survey archives (I think VIP) that once showed a superpower theme
That was my 2nd choice. We have way too much whimsical and colourful stuff.
I am so happy to see others interested in that one! def does feel like a bit of a throwback to past games with its own features some . maybe the sample here is biased ha
I never thought about it with Scooby doo ha that sounds fun
The ocean underwater one is my dream pack
what would you most hope to see from it, and what did you think of the full description
Cyberpunk builds would make me cry. We need it!! The cybernetics would also be super cool for game play
I would LOVE mall. As long as it means multiple venues (retail) on one lot. That could be used for actual gameplay not rabbit hole store fronts.
yeah hard to say. ideally it would add a multifunctional feature and we could create our own malls
it could however be done like high school years, where there is only one lot that could function as the mall.
yeah, it honestly does feel like a combo of those too. Maybe they feel it's a better way to go about it than trying to recreate castaway
I also picked the post apocalyptic one that gave me hopes of the fun gameplay from Castaway. I also chose the Heist one.
The royalty one was my second pick after the 80ies themed pack. I'm really curious which one of the many will win. ^^
@SimmerErin they may already be working on hotels and resorts, since this survey is probably for end of 2025 and beyond!
Ooooo, I would really like the fossil/plant life idea. Being able to build a natural history museum somewhat along the lines of Jungle Adventure would be cool!
I like the natural history museum idea
@@destinee6590 You bring a very good point, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
@@destinee6590I agree that EPs should work that way, and that it should be the bare minimum of what any EP includes, but very few of them have in the past.
I think/hope that they'll include a Bucket List aspiration for elders. Elders could travel to different locations, collect souvenirs, etc. They could expand the postcard collection, etc.
I also think elders should have an interaction to "rediscover lost love/reconnect with old friend" that would unlock new interactions and provide unique rewards.
The mall pack concept makes me feel ANCIENT lol
I know me too ha
lol the 80s historical re-enactors will be STOKED 😁
All of these packs sound really interesting to me, especially the cyberpunk and royalty ones. I just really hope they’d actually make them very interesting and compatible with other packs we already have. The premises all sound cool, but of course it’s a matter of if they’ll actually give them depth
yeah... some I wonder if you could cover in an ep in sims 4. Cause there's so much nuance say that could go into monarchy gameplay
Any Sims game could go on for a very very long time, but the engine would disagree at some point.
Some things I think can't be done now
I.e. editing worlds, fully opening the districts, and CAW. it could be hints for what's to come with project Rene which if it's going to be 100% online.
Ah of course, the DLC argument.
Yeah I don't think we're going to see fully open worlds ever. The one question though made me wonder what they think they can do
it could be, but this survey is specifically for sims 4
For my picks I quite liked the post apocalyptic option and the full ocean expansion. I felt like Island living was so shallow compared to what we got with Island Paradise in the Sims 3 that I need that other 70% they missed out. The van life idea wasn't bad. The vigilante one sounds kinda cool.
Ideally, and I've seen other commenters say this; we need the basics.
We need a better gameplay loop altogether.
We need a fully functional game.
If we are not getting the Sims 5, we need a better engine under all of this, a full retrofit. Someone needs to go through all of the code and recode it using some kind of discipline.
yeah.. and I wonder what they plan to do. what does upgrade core functionality mean
I WOULD DIE FOR A MONARCHY PACK
do you like the description here? what other features, if any, would you like to see from it
@@SimmerErinI love the idea of a monarchy pack but think it would be better as a spin off game.
@@annabellina101 I recommend playing Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis haha
I would take a monarchy or villian superhero pack but i prefer first of what you said, hotels bands etc
I doubt the ship could have an onboard casino though!
true, being able to multitask between places would be very helpful- likely a big undertaking but I'd hope it'd be possible
I would love to be able to have a rough world. maybe not a fallen civilisation. But you know a world where most building should have been renovated a decade or two ago.
yup. a lot of sims 4 worlds are polished so to speak
Hope I get to take this survey, will check when I get home later.
oh cool! happy for you that it made it on there
if no one gets slashed up by Jason Voorhees, I'm not going 😩
Many of these sounds more like complicated scenarios or spin off games than packs for TS4.
However, I was fascinated by the survey itself. It was very much tailored by what I chose when they were asking about which are my favorite pack subjects. Their description of an ocean-based pack sounded great (although I told them it was what I had been hoping Island Living would be but that I'd buy it in a heartbeat.)
It would be interesting to see all the various options in the survey rather than having them limited by what I was already interested in.. (I suspect their option for "over 45" is set so low because they really don't care about anyone who is older than that. That's why I chose to say "I prefer not to answer." As you and I have discussed recently, they don't seem to care about any age group except 18-25.)
I agree. I'd personally also like to see the full descriptions of each pack. I wish we'd just been given them
Sleep away camp/van life could be combined into a fun pack.
The biggest chaos in the game though has got to be their issues with routing errors.
one could argue a lot could be combined, yes
thing is, the disclaimer signals the opposite: that any of these are likely to be trimmed down
HOWEVER
if you look at the 2020 survey they did *technically* combine high school w/ cheer etc
One of the ones I choose on the survey was the van one because I desperately want cars in game. Was disappointed when I saw the full description as it seemed like "customizable van" just sounds like a object you have your sim attach things to (like the crib) and not really something a builder can mold without playing. Plus no cars other than a van was mentioned in the description.
ah... that's eye opening. I kinda guessed that might be the case
I went for the criminal expansion and the travel/elder one. We definitely could use some details on the Criminal career because its so barebones at the moment and I rather just like traveling. (And cars)
true, there's not much nuance to it right now
im not sure it would add cars, i was think with how the sims 4 is that it would just be teleporting from one lot to another with a stationary trailer.
Almost/all of these could be refreshes that actually make expansion packs worth $40
The monarchy one could be the political side to Get famous
The crime city could be a district in city living
The mall in get to work
The van life in growing together
Summer camp in outdoor retreat
Sailing in island living
Etc.
My point is eps are now becoming game packs and that’s sad. Hopefully it’ll change. Secondly, these packs all overlap but will probably have no cross pack compatibility which just makes the game so disjointed. 😔
I disagree n the monarchy one.. I don't see that all squeezing in; if anything it sounds lie its own game
The others eh I can kinda get
@@SimmerErin honestly yeah out of all of those the modern monarchy is most different
So this is all.....pretty disappointing for me tbh 😅
But i guess I'll have to wait and see.
And it's true that a lot of the side games were great as their own independent games, I loved the sims urbz lmao 😂
I guess we'll have to wait and see!! I'm definitely willing to change my mind, if the newer stuff goes well. (And I'll be ok, thanks very much for the kind words ☺️🙏)
The 80s and 90s caught my eye with malls, lifeguards that aren't rabbitholes and waterslides.
not sure what would or wouldn't be a rabbithole
I did find it funny to see some overlap with this survey and the 2020 one.. and even a few much older ones too
The Mall one is by far my fav! for those items and indeed a connection to past games,. maybe it's my nostalgia talking
yeah...
In the end, it just feels like Granite Falls if it's better.
it was a little uneven.. the only thing I will say is that disclaimer of they may pick and choose certain things.. so I bet the mall would not come with all that amazing as that'd be
It’d be cool if they also have escalators and elevators (that you can add into resident lots too) in the mall pack.
@@Cole20231 That could be fun and very useful in retail lots that come with GTW as well!
I know, right? I also picked the retro pack because it's full of Nostalgia for me as an 80ies kid and I can actually see this coming.
Some of this stuff just didn’t sound super EP-worthy though, tbh.
true. one could argue that for rent showcased there is in theory a foundation for doing so
I agree.. I was mixed on a few of these being an ep. the sleep away camp especially
I would love the sailing one. Particularly cause i like the idea of living on a boat/ship/yacht. I know if you are creative enough you can have that on sulani island but everytime i try i have issues making thevlot playable because my sims always have ttouble interacting with the stuff on the lot.
a nice thing would be, if that ep came, to be able to also have that in sulani too
Sounds like some interesting concepts.
Those were the 2 I ultimately chose too, but it took so long to choose among those 2 and the criminal city dystopia.
someone said they looked into the description more on van life and sounded like ones you can decorate but maybe not actually move,.. I honesty don't know
Yeah, I do wonder what the mall would be like . I would be OK with a rabbit hole here or there but admittedly would want most of it- like the man shops etc- open. And so true about stalls and bars
Thanks for the link Erin. If they can actually pull these things off it'll be great but gotta say...I'm skeptical of their ability to do so
welcome!
I feel like it's a mix of how would they do this and a sprinkling of idk for an ep (the sleepaway camp)
i laughed seeing the cyberpunk, royalty, and apocalypse options. those are all llazyneiph mods and i know for a fact maxis would do those concepts worse than llazyneiph. their mods are so expansive and full of features and detail
mods cover almost everything, however, so this argument prob could be used for most all concepts
A lot of these sound more like Life Stories, which I would love to play. I'd be on board for a Sims 4 Life Stories offshoot.
I could see a lot of this fitting a more story like experience . but the stories experience they are bringing they said will be just a mobile game
@@SimmerErin boo! More mobile games. I know there's a niche for everyone, but I am personally not a fan.
ok first of all, whimsical and dystopian are two words that i never thought i would hear together in the same sentence lol. and that kinda highlights my personal gripe with ts4. because of its teen rating its so demure and safe all of the time, and im sorry but if your gonna go the cyberpunk route then GO THERE, ya know?
second of all as someone born in 85 but grew up in the 90s, malls were a whole ass experience that you could spend all day in lol. i would totally be down for an indoor mall theme, my only issue is that if they added retail shops like clothing stores, thats kinda redundant since sims automatically have access to all clothing in game through their dresser. (one of the reasons that clothing shops just dont make any sense in get to work since sims dont actually have to buy their clothes.) oh and thanks for that "retro" label on the 90s theme maxis, time to go book my colonoscopy and check myself into a nursing home early i suppose lol.
and third, allow me to be catty for a moment and say i wonder how many simmers will look at these lists and say that 95% of it should have been in base game, or in a free update like they always do🙄
1990 was 34 years ago dude. I’m sorry, but it’s retro now. 😔
the mall def. sounds appealing to me, if done right. I know they had a mall in freeplay (and often stuff comes to sims 4) and they had the 2020 survey so seems highly considered. Am wondering why we are surveyed on it again though
prob many ha.
But overall, reading all these pack suggestions makes me glad they are continuing the Sims 4.
there def are some interesting ideas here. ha happy to see several now here placing the retro one as a top pack.
summer camp feels like a weird pack, i would thing it would have been apart of one of the other packs. but a future or cyberpunk pack could bring interesting.
Malls if they took inspo from Stranger Things S3 would seem so exciting 🎉
the sims 2 had best stores
Malls used to look like that 😅
confession I never watched stranger things. fill me in what they would be like?
or they could just take inspo from real life malls.... yknow, to appeal to everyone and make it more realistic? we don't need another stranger things inspired pack
That's my experience with the game.
what are the main bugs you want fixed
@@SimmerErin All of them. The Items Removed bug I want gone, the constant game crashes, the Failed to load, everything. I spent over $1,000 on this "game", and for what? For the company to screw with their consumers? This is why I won't play the game anymore.

I'm a big fan of packs that really change the way you play, so you don't need to "visit another world" to feel the new features of the expansion. That's why I love packs like Pets, Seasons, or Growing Together.
I'm still hoping that we can customize the worlds even more, I want to be able to play in the old town from Sims 1 or Pleasantview from Sims 2.
yes those tend to be the ones that I'd classify as true expansions
Pick only 2 on the 5th question, though? 3 of them are *so* close that I really struggled to only pick 2. Went with 80s/90s and Cyberpunk, but it was super tough to choose between those and the criminal city dystopia.
On the questions about specifics about packs we might like, I am really stumped by the questions about whether CC/mods can provide those experiences. I honestly have *no idea,* as though I am glad CC/mods are available, I have no interest in using CC/mods, myself. Aside from things like maxis match items, alpha-cc, and wicked whims I just don't know what's out there. I wish they'd broken it down in another way so that those of us who don't use CC can meaningfully answer the questions - even if that just means marking that we don't use cc/mods.
ha I think that's what I picked too- and several others here too. but I felt weird picking just two
yeah, I too don't use cc or mods. I get loads of people do.. so I guess they are worried people will not buy.. because mods exist? But usually mods have less scope and may even break with said pack.
I was also stomped on these questions. I don't play with mods in general and have no clue what exists and what doesn't. hehe
I wish they had let us see the full description from all the options before picking two instead of the other way around.
I agree.
agreeed
I legit dont want any of the options, I want hotels, bands. Maybe cars in some way, like a car workshop. Why cant they just make basic things people wish for instead, of these weird original ideas.
I kinda think- this is just a theory- that they already have bands lined up. Surveys can result in packs, but a pack can take a year even two or so to make. so we can presume these ideas we won't see for a while
there is Van life so it's close to cars xD
They won't add in cars. We kinda have hotels already so I don't see them adding that. I do think they'll add bands at some point though. I really wish we had the color wheel but we won't ever have that either.
Who's to say they're not already working on these things and this for what's after?
me too, why there's no cars in that option
While this survey may be labelled for Sims 4, it could easily be for Rene and they don't want to make that known. I really can't see building neighbourhoods being a thing for Sims 4, at least not something that would be meaningful. At best it'll be off lot decorating or something similar.
The cyberpunk part sounds like the Sims 4 version of the Sims 3's future pack that many are expecting to appear at some point.
@@TONZAMUSIC You missed the point I didn't make very clearly. The survey may state it's all Sims 4 but that doesn't mean it has to be used for Sims 4. 🙂
that would be so deceptive ha. but maybe
I don't think it's plausible for sims 4 to ever be open world. Idk what to think

I actually agree that the packs fit the Sims 4 better, which is why I never mentioned them. Reading is a very simple thing for most people. Don't make up stuff to try and manufacture a point, it only shows you have nothing. The survey was about far more than just packs.
"You all people." Hahahahaha!
Found the EA whale. Maybe you should start being aware that EA lie and they aren't professional. For one, a professional company would fix the larger issues in the game and not just continually push money making packs with a few minor fixes here and there.
I'm not going to drag this out further with someone who managed to create an almost completely irrelevant comment to everything I've said. It really isn't worth the trouble.

I love the idea of the gritty world pack. It would be fun if there was like a prison, and you could escape it It'd also be really cool if it was tied to other careers like detective, or lawyers and such.
yeah.. I'd think it'd be a big miss to not have some pack integration too
The biggest reason for me for not playing live mode in ts4 is the fact that it all feels so shallow and not alive.
Eps are the same price as 10 years ago- though one could perhaps argue we get less content
I can't think of any eps with that few of lots- aside from the tiny world with get to work. we average 12-14 / ep
I play Sims 4 and I didn’t get anything like that Simmer Erin
I didn't get the survey either. I got the link from someone else. most often, the team sends out the survey to a limited number of people or a random sampling.
You can already make some sort of Mall on a 64x64 lot. But would love to see in the sims that your able to use the elevator on each floor you make. And I wonder what project renee is. And what I love is if they make it able to play sims multiplayer/coop
wow theyre keeping you busy this week! thank you for always reporting for us!
ha yes... indeed. I need to think about all the info we got this week
That makes it sound like a Cryptid expansion and I’m so there for that 🤞
ah nice! a personal connection can def make a difference
most of these concepts sound good. my only gripe is on the nest question when they give you more info about each concept they list quite a few feature we already have in other packs. for example i picked the kids camp one and they listed babysitters, lifeguards, community pools, rollerblading, and waterslides as features. we already have that stuff. there are so many other water features idk why we would get another waterslide? unless the babysitter is an active career, but in that case i would rather it be a daycare and not geared towards teens. but then would that even fit into the pack concept? idk
i was waiting for you to do a video on this lmaoo
yes ha I find myself falling behind. I learned about the survey at some time very early morning
Here are some ideas I can think of for additional gameplay items / hobbies
Van Life : Fixer-Upper Car
Ocean Exploration : Beach Volleyball & Surfing
I'm pretty sure there people have a lot more that could be added to make some of these feel fuller as an Expansion.
yeah those would both be natural fits
I like it, don't get me wrong, I'm just not sure how you can make that coherent as a _thing_ )
...Also while boardgames were a thing in the 80s and to a lesser extent 90s (although it's not until the mid 00s to mid 10s that their commercial and cultural renaisance truly began - Seemingly in response to the common adoption of smart phones as a means for people to find time away from screens), the first boardgame cafes started emerging in South Korea around 2004, and spread to the North American continent around about 2010 (we're not _sure_ snakes and lattes in Toronto was the first, but it was the one that made people realize they were viable in the West, making a 'gameboard cafe' positively anachronistic to an 80s/90s themed expansion.
But as TS4 is set up the potentially offroad compatible traveling van makes more sense than giving us commuter cars.
yeah I hadn't thought about micro worlds so to speak
I chose the post-apocalyptic one, causing me to think of the fun Castaway gameplay. Adding more of a survival aspect to Sims sounds fun.
I also chose the crime and Heists one... hoping that would bring back robbers.
The mall one sounds good for the potential of multifunctional lots and arcade items.
yeah, I was close to picking the apocalypse one... I think maybe I should have picked that as my second choice instead but in general struggled to pick just a second one. I think either way those could add some interest to the game. and I will agree I want actual robbers to return
i chose the modern royalty and 80s and 90s packs- and explained how i would never use them for their intended purposes 😂 id use aspects from both for a victorian save file but id only really consider the royalty one unless we see more vintage stuff in the 80s pack
this made me laugh "I will never use them... as intended
yeah it could be useful for that. The modern royalty one I'd prob skip buying unless they really wowed me
I like some strategy games like civ, age of empires etc but I'm more keen on different time periods... I will say though if it's going to be in sims 4, it's a better fit
I am trying to think what I would want in a pack, a Cyberpunk one could be really fun if done right.
80/90s could also be very cool
Many of these ideas are cool but not for the Sims, if I want for example intrigue at court I would play Crusader Kings 3, it is a really cool thing but how would it even work.
I want Sims 4 to be great but I think if we got a new base in 5 or vent back to earlier games, I miss things like landline phones, newspapers and cars.
those were the two I picked
yes.. exactly.. I think there is a reason some things are better as their own game.. I feel most strongly that way about the monarchy theme
@@SimmerErin You did pick the best options so I could only agree. 😀
Thanks for the survey link. I just completed it. :)
welcome!
I too live near a healthy/thriving mall! It comes up in videos about malls all the time. (Now I'm wondering if we're neighbors! 😁)
cool! unlikely ha, but I live in the Cincinnati region (Ohio)
@@SimmerErin Nope! We're not neighbors, but its funny that healthy malls are now so odd that we think we have the only one.
"I actually do currently still have a mall near me that I go to in person sometimes. I know, SHOCKER!" I shouldn't have laughed that hard. THAT WAS GOLD 😂
:D last time I mentioned it, someone tried to tell me malls don't exist at all anymore
Modern monarchy would prob be the lowest on my list of these for a few reasons
I took the survey a few hours ago, and I feel like the "Build a World & Neighborhood" option is a bit out of context. The way it was presented with the question didn't really give me something like Create a World, which before I took the survey, occured to me if that's really happening even though we all know it is very unlikely. The way I took it is more like how you build and create the world around you to feel more cohesive and lived-in.
ah I see! I didn't get it on mine at all, so I wasn't sure how it was presented
The Royalty and the Apocalypse ones were my top picks.
It was NICE
I DID though, HAVE to SLOW my game's speed down some by going into my option menu. Even AFTER that it still continued to RUN smoother. I WISH it could ALLWAYS run smooth as is now but
I can't set myself too HIGH on hopes.
SO this system they are useing
MaY hopefully be a GOOD thing. We CAN ONLY HOPE though rite? 😊
Also then grim event sound pretty cool too. I like some of the ideas in it too. Hope it's as FUN as it looks.
🤔🤔👍
That said, Ty for the post and all you DO for us to keep us all in the loop on info as much as you possibly CAN. Ty and please take care Erin. HOPE youHave a NICE week as well. 💖👍✌
good! I am hearing from a variety of players now that performance is at least a bit better. progress I guess
You have a good weekend too! appreciate you
The ones that interested me:
ocean pack: mermaids revamp? please
burglar: genies would fit perfectly, also we need more naughty sims and return of burglars
post apocalypse: MADE for rags to riches and historical challenges. Could do something with plant sims?
modern royalty: fairies!! also, great for rags to riches and historical challenges as well
Just did the survey. I am the most interested in van life for elders and camping for children
Malls could have been updates from any other packs (High School Years for a teen hangout, Growing Together for a family outing place)
to your third point: yes, that is very possible and should be considered for those looking at van life
I def agree with monarchy being better as a spin off.. prob cyberpunk as well
All for future/cyberpunk world!
I want martial arts. And fights to be overhauled
Van life..
we have tiny living. we have outdoor camping activities. we don't have cars.
Also they're like 5 years too late on that boat. The rest of these ideas are great but they don't really fit in with the game that we currently have. Except for the 80s-90s nostalgia. Feed me!
I love the 80's and 90's one, my top pick. some nostalgia from past games too
The reclaimed nature one feels very strangetown pt2
I can see that
So, I'm going to say this, I read the longer descriptions on the Sims Community website, and the only one that doesn't sound intriguing to me is the cyber punk city. I know some are not seeing it .
ah! I didn't know someone had collected all the long descriptions somehow
yeah...
Oh no I'm not even just retro but historical now LOL
I do think cyberpunk has potential.. I think that is the other one I voted for two, albeit it was hard to decide. I'm longing for something a bit more out there so to speak
These sound almost unbelievable 😮😮😮😮😮 criminals or dystopian future??? Sounds so off for the Sims but I LOVE them all!
yeah a few would make me think it wasn't a real survey but it is
@@SimmerErinI am hoping in the futuristic pack for a long time, that one and the dystopia sound amazing! Almost all of them do.
If we’re staying with Sims4ever, then why not just give us the things we want? Like cars. I’m asking for cars.
we want is too simplified. the community isn't a monolith. I don;t think it includes or excludes cars though
*insert Matt Damon aging GIF*
The mall one could be cool, even if my mall adventures in the late 80s and 90s were mostly solo, but my interest peaked with the cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic ones.
Tbh, so long as this game keeps trying to be FIXED and Runs Better,
I MAY be ok with some future packs maybe.
UGH I have had that happen before I think with a past survey
I voted for the retro pack and the modern monarchy. If I got to vote for a third it would have been Van Life. Just the idea of having a mobile home and not being stuck on one lot sounded appealing to me. However I had to pick two and so it goes..
yeah picking just two is challenging
I want a Smarter Sims update that makes them quit jumping in the pool during a blizzard and gives townies a life
a smarter sim update for so many reasons
I picked the gritty city and the survival one, but after hearing the details about the survival one I was less interested since I wasn't sure how it would work in gameplay when you can just go to another world to get food and stuff
yeah.... there are a few packs here where I wonder about both the challenge and functionality unless they limit you to play in said world like a quest you have to complete
@@SimmerErin I did give a way it would work for them, but it would make it definitely the biggest ep in Sims 4 history so I doubt they'd do it
It sounds like in some cases they are proposing send ups of existing games.
WAIT SO ARE VANS A HINT AT CARS ??? 👀👀👀👀
perhaps.
yep and i voted for it because its sounded something new and never done
I love new worlds for my sims to explore and new clothes for my sims to wear and the ocean. I love my Sims to be on a boat. In the sea
what kind of boats would you most like too see?
@SimmerErin I would like to see big ships 🚢 for the sims to explore but we know that won't happen or little boats the sims can go to explore the sea and do some painting or something to do there skills on
Just made this survey ❤
Idk why but I just knew there would never be another sims like sims 5, I felt like they would expand sims 4 and stop using numbers and just make it The Sims and have it more online so they can do way more and open up mods to console bc more ppl have PS4 or PS5 than a gaming computer. Let’s see! 🔮
I would love for us have a sims 4 monarchy kings and queens expansion pack ❤😊
Went for the Monarchy pack 👑👑👑
I would have simply loved more animals.
what would you want to see
@SimmerErin I would love to see a zoo pack with animals, or be able to create our own mythical creatures (maybe like dragons( like sims 3)besides unicorns. maybe include pigs to the farm too.
I really could see it falling flat and see the whole concept either way as. spin off. Actually I think a period not as explored would be interesting, and not based off of European.... but again, for a spin off
@@SimmerErin yeah, those 2 put together would be amazing!
I hope the gsme will be able to sense how good your pc is and then allow you to put more lots or have T least the world semi open so no disteicts thst are locked but houses o ly loader fro outside of course
Like genshin impackt does this wirh the tea pot if u have more ram and power u can place more items in the sandbox thingy (to breake it sown to people who dont play the game) means basicly phone players can place less items than i can with my amd9 and my 4060tibi think it was the 60 maybe its the 70 however my pc can handle more than a phone or my old pc that was verr verry outsated
So i hope they find a mechanic to optomuze everyo es gsme e perience
I also hope there will be an option before u stard a new game save that you can choose to diactivate certain gsme play and only keep the items so for example i love to retell storrys of my rpg charachters but growing together is alot in the way of it to the point where i regret getting the pack thats also why i decidet against love struck sure its nice chLanging gameplay if it doesnt bug around but 😅 for reteling a set storry its to challanging 😅
not sure what is possible tbh
