I really like the crime/heist one. It could've merged with the modern monarch one too, either be a rich monarch or a robin hood in modern times for example. I also really like the 80/90s mall one as well.
The dystopian one seems interesting, but I am nervous about the implementation of it. A lot of these are "well it depends on the how the team actually executes it"
Honestly the cyberpunk could've combined with both the criminal AND the apocalyptic pack (they're just subparts of cyberpunk). 🥲 The ocean exploration was my second pack because it would've added so much AND probably would've seen mermaids refreshed.
Mall is important as a lot type because then we can probably put restaurants coffee shops cinemas etc all together in one lot and have it all be functional 😢
I'd still say if they did that though a bg update for multifunctional may be possible now I do think some things- like the cinema- would be rabbit holes. We also of course run into the issue of only so many sims spawning per lot
Yeah, I wondered if that was coming after For Rent. Since they found a way for different households to live in the same lots, I assume that multiple businesses types in the same lot is coming soon.
I already try to build the lot with residental rental lot just above the community places as a multi functional lot Hopefully with the 80's/90's pack they add multi-functional lots but also like each community in 1 lot (clothes store, restaurant, pet store to name a few) Or the household running a business while they lives just above where they works (it's realistic, or atleast where i live) I'm definitely in for the 80's/90's pack😁😁👍
Same. Also the cyberpunk one. Those two were more unique than what we've had in the past, same with fossil hunting honestly though I don't know how it could work as an EP, maybe an SP would work best. They all seem really unique and we can't exactly replicate them using mods or things that exist in the game already (I am certain there's a way to make royalty already with what we have using clubs and the fame system, even malls we can already make and either download mods or utilise clubs and such for jobs).
Id really like the sleepaway and apocalypse stuff. I'm into the more fantasy (less realistic) sim stuff. Cyberpunk would be fun too, and I'm less into scifi.
Sleepaway would really be helpful for boarding school gameplay! Or better yet, they should just add boarding school as an option. I don't know if HSY is still as messy as it was at launch tho, could be a nightmare to run... But I feel like being able to have a separate high school with dorms could be great (the bones are already there with university, just need to implement it on teens)
Bring me the 80s-90s. It's so on-brand for there to be a Decade pack. Give me crime! I miss burglars, I miss being a criminal in TS3. There are so many things in the game that hint at crime but it's so easy to just be Mr. Bad Guy with no consequences, no jail, and everyone adores you. I want it to be easier to be hated. I absolutely love birds in The Sims 3 and would love to see them added to this game ❤ I really am intrigued by a potential mechanic career. I think this will change our relationship with cars in the game. If done correctly, if what we are seeing from The Sims team is any indication, this could be a very good upcoming year for the game.. but I feel like we experience this positive feeling every time they do a small wave of updates and statements. That said, it does look like EA is trying to stay competitive and they've seen what people have had to say. I'm curious how many are on the team now compared to... just before the pandemic.

It's hard to say, and it depends on what their pipeline looks like, but I'd think it'd be a while because it takes a long bit to make an expansion pack. I do hope the rest of this year is positive as possible. I have seen many report that the stability of their games have improved, and if so, that's def a great step forward
Modern monarchy just makes sense with the way people play the sims. We love rags to riches, we love multi-generational legacies, we love grandiose love stories and/or scandalous affairs, we love drama. Imagine if it was kind of like Eco Lifestyle where depending on the laws you enact you could dramatically change the actual world around you, making it run down and crime-ridden or peaceful and prosperous(I know that modern monarchs are usually figureheads so that might not make sense but it would be a missed opportunity for more interesting gameplay I think). I also imagine it being kind of like My Wedding Stories in the CAS and Build/Buy categories with representation for multiple different cultures, it would be lame if it was based on the British royal family, Asia has more modern monarchies than Europe after all.
While I don't think it's a we issue- I agree many do play rags to riches. Thanks for your perspective I worry it will be based on the British fam- but hope it isn't because I think there would be a lot of potential elsewhere
There was plenty of cool options, but I went with Both Cyberpunk and Monarchy, but I chose Monarchy in the end out of my last 2, since I felt like Monarchy might work well with Vampires,
Cyberpunk would also be excellent with vampires! It's already a story about how the rich feed on the poor...which is what vampires initially symbolized, anyways! xD
Monarchy was in my top five, I’m already using the get famous pack to pretend my sims are royal so it would be nice to actually have a monarchy pack. Great idea blending it with vampires, I would blend it with werewolves and do beauty and the beast storytelling
I thought about voting it for it but I figured I wouldn't have liked the implementation. Very few games pull off underwater exploration right and I doubt sims would have been one of them.
@@Crisalpha I completely agree I was so disappointed when island living came out and it was so lack luster. When I was like 13 sims 3 island paradise was so good. The whole owning a resort concept was so cool and felt so rewarding when you hit 5 star resort status, also I actually felt sims 3 did the underwater really well. Not to mention 13 year old me shitting my pants and freaking out on my houseboat when a kraken would swim under. As much as I would like this on the sims 4 they already did the island pack and knowing how buggy all the expansions are on release id rather we just get a expansion that is based on something we haven’t already gotten.
All in all I sort of understand why these ideas are in the lead, because they are a reflection of what is trending in the current pop culture. The "Modern Monarchy" just screams British Royalty or Bridgerton in modern times. Horses could been perfect for the elite "exotic pets", though I'm not too sure how the rest of the pets fit with the whole concept of the royalty and the ultra rich. The 80s/90s look pretty cool (though the fashion reminds me of the Retro fit Kit?), I'm thinking people are feel nostalgic more than ever. Even for Gen Z, who are not even BORN in these decades, have an urge to reenact the mid to late 20th century aesthetics. Tiktok/Instagram had a sudden boom on family van life, who refurbish trailers/bus/vans to livable spaces.
What would Bridgerton in modern times even be? Without the odd rules around courtship and inheritance, isn’t that just rich people deciding who to make out with at parties?
The idea of a modern monarchy is great. Pet wise I was thinking more exotic, I want lions and tigers. Modern Princess Jasmine. But I don't really expect them to do this. I also really loved the crime/ heist idea. Specifically the vigilante part. The ability to create heroes and villains is a want. That's drama and action. As long as it's implemented well.
yeah I was surprised even when they added llamas to the game but of course there was a lot in cottage living tied to stalls. only larger animals we got were horses and as we know they did a whole ep for them. so I am guessing they'd be small- but I could be wrong.

I would agree. Monarchy = celebrities, malls might be fun I guess but For Rent still isn’t working right so would they really succeed at multiple retail on one lot? And van life… yes I want more for seniors, but not van life. 🤷🏼♀️ I liked the exploration and dinosaur fossils with more interactive museums and maybe sleep away camp although I was a bit concerned about what happens to the rest of the household when you send a kid to camp. Could you swap between the two, or are you stuck at camp the whole time the kid’s there?
I feel like we've been asking for a Band EP for a loooong time, and they didn't even include it as an option in the poll. They have to know we want it.
Judging by the pie chart, it's painfully clear that I'm not the core audience of that franchise anymore... my most favorite concepts were Apocalypse and Cyberpunk XD A lot of those pack ideas brought up things that don't particularly belong together, but certainly had individual appeal (like elder people having gameplay in... On The Road, which is totally unrelated !), and it clearly played a part in the votes you used as a basis for this video. The pets for Modern Monarchy could be fantasy pets (like dragons for instance). Personally I'd be game for political stuff that has an incidence on the world (Eco Living is already about activitism that changes the world, but its policies are limited to certain things and individualizes a lot of behaviors), but at the same time I know TS4 would probably never give me political intrigue with any kind of substance... Meanwhile the 80s/90s Mall idea is, like, exactly what I expect that game to execute fairly well, by adding lot types, jobs and activities, but no actual gameplay that adds to the *mechanics* we already know. It adds content that's easy to add to the pile, without making anything more interesting. That said, adding an entire world that's a giant mall, where each neighborhood is a different floor, and the various lots are stores/restaurants, would absolutely be a great idea ; it would make the food court doable in a way similar to the festivals, too. Sadly I don't think EA would ever come up with something that original. Overall TS4 really should experiment with worlds a lot more imho, like the underwater pack they suggested should be an underwater village where you can live in giant bubbles, come on ! How did they miss that idea, when someone made concept art for it YEARS ago ! Try a little, EA. You can't just say "drama" and expect people to be pleased with the bare minimum. That's actually a huge red flag for me, when EA uses "drama" in a description for a pack. I know it's just going to be soap opera levels of BS, without any consequences, and that stuff has zero appeal to me. I don't want more drama, I want more depth. It's very different.
I voted for cyberpunk as my second choice, which was basically tied with apocalyptic if I could have voted three. I can't say for sure what conclusions to draw.. since this is indeed a small sample here. But some mentioned that the most popular ones winning are tied to eh TikTok trends ha sooo that would make me out of the loop too. Drama in of itself sounds great but yes it really at this point is a buzzword
@@christabelle__ In TS2 it was really easy to use an empty world to create something apocalyptic or futuristic or sciencefictiony. But with TS4 having so much detail in the worlds, you can't pretend you're on another planet or in a dystopian world, so a themed DLC feels more necessary. Like what am I going to do, pretend I have a Cyberpunk society in the middle of Oasis Springs' decor ?
It was clear from the get go that Sims 4 isn't really made to address all preferences and to make your stories. Since the worlds are premade, you get severely limited by the stories that could be told there OR you use CC and try to ignore and pretend. It's all around mainstream generic modern day life. Fantasy / medieval / sci fi and so on have almost nothing aside from the occult packs. I also voted cyberpunk btw, sad it's almost last...
@@Crisalpha Agreed. The game was promoted around the concept of "telling our own stories", but it also limits where and how more than any of the three that came before it. I don't expect medieval stuff (or any historic stuff, in fact ; the castle kit came as a surprise to me) because of how embedded a certain level of technology is in the gameplay (mainly the phones, but not just them), which would make it necessary to create huge workarounds that we all know EA will never invest in. However for futuristic stuff, it feels like it should be doable, I don't know. In any case, yeah, TS4 has been a disappointment for me, as a player who had done so many sci-fi stories in TS2 for instance.

I loved the on the road and apocalypse survival ones personally. The customisable camper van thing sounded really fun and it also came with the idea of elder sims getting more focus which Im in dire need of! And the apocalypse stuff is just bc i love the drama and the resource management haha

That Modern Monarchy Pack sounds more like a spin off then a pack. Like how does it either mesh with the existing game or how it is cut off from it so that there is no bleed over? Worlds are not isolated after all, they all bleed into each other. Will Royalty, like celebrities, be turning up at the dumpster when your sims in dumpster diving in Evergreen Harbor?
I hope not but it's the Sims 4. I want a monarchy pack BC I'm not ever gonna play Sims medieval. I have no interest in it. I know the pack will bring something new to the game and it sounds expansion pack worthy if it's well executed.
If the celebrities of Del Sol Valley and the dreadful JUDITH WARD is any indication, these Royal NPCs will show up in places they will never step into realistically, which will be both comical and frustrating.

Really a lot of EP ideas they have would be great in the Sims 4 format as SPIN OFFS like Castaway and Mideviel had been but its like they are afraid of anything Sims 4-like that isn’t a Sims 4 pack shoved into the Sims 4 game at large. It would also probably run better as a spin off game since it wouldn’t be loading ALL of Sims 4, most of which isn’t relevant to royalty play, in addition to the contents of the pack. Especially since this is a concept played better in isolation anyway, just make it its own game.
@@TheDawnofVanlife Honestly if the Batuu game pack is a spin off I wouldn't be so upset back in 2020. I think a lot of packs in Sims 4 should be spin offs. Strangerville or Jungle Adventure are the ones come to mind.
There was also too the fact that depending on how you answered, your survey would ask you more questions. I feel less like the community actually voted for a new pack and more like EA wanted to see if the expansion pack they were working on would be popular. I loved the 80’s 90’s retro mall pack but I also reeeaaally wanted the crime and ocean expansion packs to score higher as they sound like really cool packs plusss heellooo a possible Kraken there’s nothing more cool then that imo

@Sofus-fu4ro It would be slightly more modern than medieval times. Also, while I like The Sims medieval, it's very quest oriented. Monarchies exist today as well, with less power.
I liked the Modern Monarchy and the Cyberpunk ideas. I’m not surprised that the majority of the sims community isn’t into cyberpunk, but man it would have been so cool.
As an anti-monarchist I was least interested in that pack (sounds possibly quite Get Famous-y in terms of game mechanics). I hope that by offering a van-life pack that they are in fact going to adapt the game to finally include vehicle gameplay. Certainly going to be seeking a refund if they drop that expansion and don't update the game to include vehicles. The 80s/90s theme calls to me - I hope I'm not projecting my desire to be able to recreate Sims 1 vibes through use of it. Considering EA's track record I won't get my hopes up.
I agree that it sounds like there are intersections with get famous. no clue what they would do with van life.. feels like a wildcard ah, you're allowed to project or want a pack for whatever reason
Not keen on the monarchy thing either. Like I said on Erin's other video, unless we can have revolutions! 😂 Someone here said they'd like it for their vampires, which I could get behind. It wouldn't be a pack I'm rushing into unless there's more than just rich family drama. I love sims worlds, so I'd look into that, but I'm a part apocalypse voter.
I don't think they CAN adapt the game to include driveable cars and other vehicles, at least not without redoing the entire engine. The current engine simply was not designed to handle them (and the worlds weren't either, for that matter).
Im fine with sims team taking inspo and gameplay from mods, like that i dont have to worry about said mods breaking my game every single time an update happens.
This is so disappointing. Game already has lots of both modern and luxury, monarchy would only matter if you had something big to run and I dont see that happening. All the more unique ideas get pushed aside for more of the same and we just end up with the game feeling stale. I know unique packs are hard cause they aren't for everyone and get review bombed for it, but there are no life Sims as close as the Sims to covering a variety of themes, cultures and settings. Maybe they should just set up a new team dedicated to Spin-Offs like The Sims Medieval and Castaway. At the very least, I hope they favor the Retro Mall over the Modern Monarchy one, its unique enough and sounds much nicer than the rest of the top 5 (On the Road/Heists sound like nice ideas but probably very limited in what they can do with them in this game).
I will always say, packs should vary of course, because we have different things we enjoy. and some packs just wont' be for everyone, so I do hope to see a more so called risky pack too
@@CasualMurf i have to admit out of the 9 pack ideas, the 2 of them should be in a spin-off one (one of them is a monarchy one, i don't mind having them, just not in The Sims 4 in itself, the other being the extreme one, if not mistaken the "post apocalyptic" pack idea) But that's just my opinion
The mall pack is both a different theme than typical and seems to need different mechanics, which would bring something fresh to the game. The fossil hunting is just base game + Jungle Adventure, so unsurprising it wasn't really popular. My favorite was the sleepaway camp because I've been longing for the pack Outdoor Retreat could have been, plus it'd be lovely to have more specific gameplay dedicated to children (not just one off interactions in larger packs.) With the crime pack, I just don't think the Sims 4 has the capacity to introduce the gameplay consequences to make this pack fun and worth itmn
The sleep away pack I can see the appeal. I'll be annoying and say it feels a lot more game pack esque (but those arguments always happen ha). Sims 4 crime pack I agree that there are areas of it I am a little skeptical of

I don't have the latest update yet, but what frustrates me is the limited option for medical wearables. I'm disabled, I understand functional wheelchairs would be a big hassle to code, but we could at the very least get cosmetic prosthetic limbs or even walking canes. It's pretty basic and would really add to the diversity they tried to implement without messing with the animations. I don't want my sim-self to struggle as much as I do, but I'd feel happy seeing her with her cane!
Sleeper Camp and 90s Mall were the ones i wanted the most, and i wrote full paragraphs on the survey about why i thought theyd be great. 90s mall for more in-game 'gaming' content (tabletop. More boardgames. Arcade machines.) And Sleeper camp because we really have very, very little specific children's content
About Medieval Monarchy - what if they do it in a form of live show? The new world would be a fake kingdome and you could come there and take a role of royal knight or queen's/king's confidant or maybe even a ruler. As a knight you can take part in knight tournament, maybe royal hunt etc. As a ruler you can make decisions through dialog and see different outcomes in a form of cards (like in rabbit hole activities). As a confidant you can handle some private matters with nobility (maybe some diplomacy, delivering correspondence? ). And we definitely need a masquarade ball and a royal dinner and a court jester and.. So classic medieval monarchy but in kinda cartoonish form. This way it could fit Sims 4 timeline and cause less controversy. Not a native English speaker but I hope the general idea is understandable.

@@SimmerErin yeah "modern" part is what really frustrates me. I desperately wanted medieval pack for years and now it's "modern". I don't think there is a chance they will ever give us something like Sims Medieval so my idea is just a compromise.
I went with the retro mall theme and also the ocean exploration theme because it mentioned an underwater world. I wrote in the comment section that if they went that pack it would be a good time to refresh and expand the mermaids in the Sims 4.
I personally voted for 80s/90s mall theme first and modern monarchy second. As a 90s kid myself it would be really fun to have malls in the game. I would love to have being a babysitter back in the game and I've always wanted my child sims to be able to be the paper delivery sim when I played the sims 3. As for the monarchy one, I can't tell you how many times I've tried to recreate some semblance of a modern monarchy in both the sims 3 and 4. It's one of my favorite themes to play besides just a regular legacy. My third choice would've been the sleepaway camp cause I never got to go to one as a kid and I just want the chance to live through it with my sims.
I voted for the modern monarchy and apocalypse, but I kinda missed the “modern” part😬 I just really want to have royal families for my fantasy save files, I wish they’d went for a more medieval tone, but I guess the excuse for not doing that is that we got a kit for it🙄An apocalypse themed pack is right up my alley, the “rags to riches” types of challenges where you have to start from the ground up have always intrigued me and I’d love a full on survival challenge. I have a hard time understanding why 80’s and the on the road concepts are so high up, they just seem incredibly generic.
I'd guess the main concern is integrating it into a game (for going modern) or maybe they felt it would be easier to make ? always curious to see how they come up with their ideas
Fossil hunting with 5% 😂 i fossil hunt around western Pennsylvania to eastern Ohio and West Virginia. All Carboniferous and early Permian unless you go north west Pa and most of Ohio are Devonian ocean. I think the sims 4 has enough fossils. I still want better jobs. A rework of the hospital and police jobs. This survey has a bunch of neat ideas that all could be fun if done well. Having turtles 🐢 as pets would be awesome and ramen shops got me interested. Whatever we get I’ll be ok with it. Malls are a definite must for the sims 4 if once again done right. Sims 3 would handle a mall better with the open world game play. Food court vs just having food stalls could be great if done right. Some great ideas here. Hope you’re doing well and have a great week!

@@SimmerErin south east on the West Virginia side is where I look a lot since it’s late Carboniferous to early Permian. The app Rockd is a good resource for finding what geological formations you’re in but it doesn’t tell you which horizon of sedimentary rock it is. I use Rockd to talk to museums and universities around the nation. You’ll find mainly sea life around most of Ohio unless you’re done in the Kanawha group then it’s a combination of sea, coal swamps and river systems and delta systems ranging from 330 million to 285 million years in age
80s/90s Mall and Sleepaway Camp are my picks. They both seem cute and nostalgic (And I love 70s-90s aesthetics) but also actually seem like something that could be used and played with often across multiple families and generations. Modern Monarchy seems like the kind of thing I probably wouldn't even buy but if I did I'd play through it once and then never really touch the mechanics again.
I voted for monarchy because I don’t play modern gameplay & I’m hoping the social interactions & mechanics of it can be adapted for historical/fantasy play. Also, the pack description gave me a very UAE/KSA feel, so I’m hoping (or perhaps coping 😮💨) for middle eastern fashions & architecture, & cheetahs/big cats as the unique exotic pets.
I saw the result of this poll just a few hours after it went LIVE, and it honestly kinda shocked me and worried me (personal opinion), especially how a lot of people voiced their concerns and lack of interest for MODERN Monarchy NOT being MEDIEVAL Monarchy. I personally would still love to hear more from them why they are against Modern Monarchy, and only interested in Medieval Monarchy. I'm not really into both, but if it has to come, I also much more prefer the Medieval takes. However, I do realize how it could be out of place in TS4 where all of the worlds are connected in a way.
I really want my Sims to be queens or kings. I guess I'm the minority BC I don't want it to be medieval. As long as it fits with the theme of Sims 4 I'm all good. the pack tells for great storytelling

@@stevenchippssI don’t like the idea of modern monarchy because if they are kings and queens in modern times, they are just wealthy people following made up rules that force them to live in a human museum with no relevance to culture other than gossip and pageantry. If the gameplay is that monarchy is the system of modern government, that’s far too dark a theme for ts4 to cover with any depth. The currently existing absolute monarchies are not situations I would like to role play. If it’s shallow, you can already make a rich sim and I guess they will just add crowns and curtsies? A historical or even futuristic monarchy pack could be fun and escapist if their world was fully fleshed out. If future people are actually ruled by an absolute monarchy, surely that means an apocalypse has occurred and your rulers need to manage a dystopia, perhaps resisted by cyberpunks.
My gut instinct says a royal pack is already at least in works from concept as it's kind of been hinted at in many ways plus in lore we have princess Cordelia but I mean if Sims 4 is where they are hedging all there bets and sticking around for years to come all of these could make the cut at some point. To me, some sound more like game pack ideas or should be expansion pack refreshes. I really wish they'd also put out a write-in poll for future development because I think some of us in the community have much better ideas! 😂 when I saw the full description of the fossil pack it did sound interesting like an African or middle east inspired land to discover lost history and have proper museums is needed and the seaside theme could be fun if they had lore like jaws Amity Harbor but I also really want real drama and consequences and more sims spawning where appropriate. High school years said drama and I still am like where's the drama? I still don't understand why sims 2 gameplay mechanics can't make into sims 4. Maybe that's a topic you can explore :)
@@Sandra-86 I haven't brought either of the last 2 expansions packs so I get it and for me I would have preferred it to be more medieval than modern-based, but I guess they feel they did that already! I used to just buy them all, but I am at the point if I am not that interested, or it seems buggy and broken upon release I either won't get it at all or hold out until it's at least 50 percent off during a sale! :)

You see, they have cost $40 since 2014 and a lot of games have raised their prices/. so we could be seeing a shinkflation issue. agreed. Idk we will get all, but I highly doubt we're only getting one or two ; in the past they indeed have checked off many ideas. But I do think they take votes into consideration: they may eliminate a few and decide how and what to prioritize. the official survey also asked if you felt more or less interested after seeing the full descriptions, so they are prob trying to figure out marketing and also what to include in each pack they decide to do
I have zero interest is modern monarchy. I knew it was going to win. I really wanted crime. The game needs more consequences and unexpected things to interfere with your sims.
Man, Cyberpunk would have been my top pick, if I'd done this! I LOVE Cyberpunk stuff, and it's something that's lacking in the market - ESPECIALLY in life sims...there are none. There is one in the works, but the style is like...Minecraft/Roblox except for the humans, who are high rez - it's not my favorite blend of styles. The Sims 4 doing Cyberpunk wouldn't be perfect, but it would be better than the literal nothing that exists for Cyberpunk Life Sims. If they got the world in game, and set up the systems...modders could pick up the slack, at the least! Kinda bummed that it's almost in last place. :( (Cyberpunk also often comes with a lot of 80s aesthetics as part of the genre, it's the retro-futurism aspect of it - so it would do double-duty! xD And hey, there's always an aspect of underground crime in Cyberpunk too - so it covers ANOTHER of those packs! >_>)
I went for the van and the ocean options. The van might bring cars and driving for once and all. The ocean I was dreaming for an Atlantis world where you live in a fictional modern underwater city. I know that will probably never happen but hey one can dream. If they do the modern monarchy I wish the make it based in a Dubai/ Arab monarchy, the pets can be lions and cheetah, they do that in Dubai, they also have lots of high rises where they can implement the estate managing thing. That will finally give us an Arab world.
@@SimmerErin it's the most interesting, the community has been asking for this for so long, it also features property management and it's something new that we've never seen in any mainline Sims game. Up til now most expansions have been about something we've already had before, but the only other time we've had royalty in The Sims was in TS Medieval and this could act as a sort of spiritual sequel to that.
Elders would have had some gameplay and possiblity ot cars. Kids could havad had some gameplay. Could have made a team of superheros and supervillians and had them defend the city or cause all kinds of chaos. And instead people wanted.....a legacy expansion pack under the guise of royalty. So let the complaining about no cars and no gameplay continue. Yes I am salty about the packs I voted for not being picked. It just would have been nice to have something new especially if this game is expected to go on for another 10 years.

Oof. Sims 4 is 10 years old... It feels nostalgic. People were really excited about the idea of a Sims five announcement, and now people are hype for an 80s / 90s expansion. One of the most recent kits focused on the early 2000s for cas. -_- I'm just so tired of moving backwards chronologically. Personally, I didn't even care much for it... But the on the road theme would have given elders something to do, a very underserved Sims category.
From what I've noticed in discussions, the Retro theme isn't desired for nostalgia or aesthetics per say. It's instead players being aware what TS4 is both capable of and can't fail even with its usual barebones expansion habits as of late, moreso when knowing how it should be cross-play compatible and still make functional sense (even if TS4's Expansions aren't necessarily capable of it). Also, it's the least likely to feel much like a pack that should've already been included in a far earlier pack. eg, Modern Monarchy is Get Famous 2.0 🤷♀ But I agree it's pathetic they're too lazy to create a long-lasting engine for TS5, and instead trying to continue forcing TS4's mobile-designed engine to last forever. I never expected Rene to be TS5, but I was really hoping it was the experimental project for the sake of developing TS5's core coding. Regardless, they're still trying the MMO route and it'll bite them in the bum if they truly canceled TS5 and aren't trying to psych us out by claiming TS4 is 4ever - and that's being skeptical they're trying that hard lol
hm, I feel like sims 4 has tons of modern stuff too though, more so than it does older content . But depending on one's age, people will have a different idea of what old means..
@@SimmerErin thank you for taking your time and replying, I know you don't have to poke through all these comments and it means a lot. For me, we have a lot of packs that could use touch ups. Some designs are dated, and that's actually really great. If I want to make a room that looked like rooms looked in my highschool days, I can whip up something from 2010. Pastel pop, highschool, throwback, maybe some dream home decorator and get together stuff for good measure. It's when the skandi style just started getting big... But say I switch gears and I want to make a 1910's art nouveaux room. It's a little harder but I can use relm of magic, University, and the new bistro kit... With a little elbow grease I can age anything to the right decade, I could probably make a mall too... But I can't recreate gameplay ... Do I think creating a 'mall' lot is a cool idea, yeah. Would I make an outdoor market for contemporary builds because that's what's replacing them in real life currently.... Also yeah. I can't recreate ramen shops or board games stores as easily as I can make a place look like one. I can't as a PlayStation user mod in those things. But if I have to choose between the mall concept, or possibly adding a driving mechanic and giving elders some more fun stuff to do... I feel like even if I as a build mode centric simmer don't benefit from all that new gameplay, the van life expansion is way more unique then modern royalty or the retro mall. You know? It's not really my fight 😁 but even though that's the case, I can recognize that it's more expansive on a narrative level. (If ea can actually pull it off and give the description justice in game. )
I admit that the RV travel pack was one of my picks. I like the idea that Grandpa and Grandma could hop in the RV and hit the other worlds. If their kids have settled with their family in different worlds, Gramps and Grams could go visit each one. I imagine that if your sims buys an RV, it comes with a lot, an RV campground where they park. It would have NPC travelers in other RVs to meet and befriend. There would be a Rec Hall for cards, games, puzzles, sewing, knitting, reading, painting, playing the piano and ways to build other skills. There could be a RV park barbeque on the odd Saturdays. A swimming pool and elder fitness center and an outdoor movie screen. When your sim wants to travel, you click TRAVEL in your phone and the world map appears and you pick your destination. POOF! Suddenly, you are there. The game would place an RV park very similar to the one you live in but dressed to match the world where it is placed. Like a KOA campground. Now you can explore a new city park, go out to eat or shop among other things. The RV lot and be placed by the game on a "special" lot like the Police Station, Hospital and Lab. As you travel, the lot and the surroundings change to suit the world you traveled to. There would only be one RV that you could somewhat change and decorate. It would, after all, actually stay parked in the RV park so it could have slide-outs to allow for more room to move around. There might also be a storage box where you could store chairs, a table, string lights, etc.
that would make for some nice stories. You have some convincing ideas, and while it's still not a pick for me, it definitely makes it sound a lot more appealing!
I went with the Van life pack and the Monarchy pack. Irl im obsessed with tiny homes/alternative homes so this was up my alley. The monarchy was my 2nd choice but it was almost the Ocean one bv of a underwater world. I did think they wouldn't necessarily fix mermaids for it so I went monarchy. Mermaid princess anyone? I did give opinons on the survey to make it not just European royalty and more variations. And the options to throw it back and make it less modern depending on choices. 80s was also up there for me. Esp with the new live career vibes it was giving
@SimmerErin it'd be great if them continuing with ts4 meant refreshes. They're making a lot of patches, but some things were just left really undone. And it'd be odd if mermaids, plant sims, and aliens got fixed in giant patches without touching the packs they were in. (Obvi plantsims are bg)
i don't want monarchy at all. I don't want an overly political game, I play games to escape that. Honestly, a monarchy EP sounds boring... much like how the Castle Estate Kit is boring. Take the exotic pet concept and put it somewhere else. Even it was put in a Game Pack! Werewolves was such a balanced pack, and we deserve more of that. If you want a royalty game, release a new Medieval or medieval inspired spin-off game. I would love an 80's/90's Mall pack with retro furniture, teen babysitting/daycare career. I love the community pool lifeguard career idea. I really want faeries, I REALLY want your basic burglars to come back so we can have security systems again. I love those small true to life details. I would also enjoy tweens, or a visual overhaul to the teen life stage so that there's a noticeable difference between the teen/young adult/adult stages; like how teens looked in the Sims 2. I can't count how many times my Sims have encountered a teenage sim that doesn't look like a teenage sim. It gives a creeper vibe.
I really like the travel van and cops/robbers one. The cops and robbers one mentioned pool tables I think in the smaller description. Maybe I was just seeing what I wanted to lol
@@SimmerErin You have never heard of pool halls? They have pool tables in them and you can drink too...its basically just another way of saying a bar, but we also have pool tables here lol. We have some around here, but maybe its more of a southern thing. Well I mean most of the pool halls I know about also have a bar in them, but some just have lots of pool tables in them.
I mainly build in Sims 4 & in the survey I voted the Mall & Modern Monarchy as my tops, so I'm pleastly suprise by Sims Community poll winners. This two would be great for building (just my opinion, of course). Mall is quite obvious (ideally being fully customizable lot type), but let me dive into monarchy. If you look up list of current monarchy in our world - a lot of them are sultanats & emirates, an arab monarchies. That would be a great opportunity to add more representation, if the sims team don't want to go classic British-based route (but knowing how popular Britain Royal Family is, they might do so of course). With basing the pack around arab monarchy, we could get a new desert type world (not based on USA for once), that Courtyard Oasis Kit would fit perfectly. Also furniture less tacky than the Get Famous ones, but still patterned, using paisley & moroccan clover with bold colors as well as neutral swatches. For gameplay I can see maybe some more mature, drama inducing themes (balls&banquets as new party types we can plan, arranged mariages, of-screen assasinations of royals) being introduced if it possible to do so while still keeping PG14 rating. Also new skills/hobbies - such as archery, competitive shooting/hunting, golf. For pets I imagine mainly birds - hunting ones (falcon, eagle), good looking ones for gardens (peacock, flamingo) & singing/talking ones (parrot, canary) - each type with small, new gameplay like teaching parrots to speak or training falcons in hunting. Possibly expanded/better genalogy trees & inheritance in base game update right before Monarchy pack since legacy stuff seems kind of important for royals? But the more I'm thinking of it, it seems to be more fiting to become a game pack, closed to one world (like Strangerville storyline for example), rather than an expansion pack with possibility to have royal families in every world.
There’s a lot of modern monarchy and medieval cc and mods for The Sims 4. Also plenty of monarchy challenges and TH-cam content. Edit: so there would be an audience for it.

I for one love generational gameplay, and because of that I play a royal family. It also feels like it’s something the Sims has been building up towards. Just within a lot of the items and descriptions and locations around the worlds. There’s a good monarchy presence.

Dang I chose the Van life mostly due to the mechanic career and most obviously they would finally add cars because there would be no point to the career or van life pack. My other choice was the apocalypse because I love survival games and sims kinda falls under that where you have to take care of your character, build a shelter and make sure they don't die. I'm not really into the "winning" options though.
I voted for modern monarchy and sleepaway camp. The monarchy EP reminded me of "Succession" and would be a good way to track legacy challenges. The sleepaway camp would finally give children something to do.
Ur the problem really you chose modern monarchy, nothing new nothing original all recycled content. “Luxury shopping” “live a rich life” and “engage rivalry” Sounds like something I can already do in the sims.

I did vote for the monarchy one. I like to play legacy challenges & the thought of having a little prince or princess learning the ins and outs of ruling the realm appeals to me. Each generation would get wealthier and more powerful. I don't know if it'll be part of the expansion, but I'd love the possibility of the monarchy to be benevolent or cruel, or perhaps somewhere in between.
I have to say that as a Simmer that used to play The Sims Freeplay, that mall was cool. There were several jobs available that were fun. At the lunch counter/soda shop, I usually had my senior Sims work there where they would make burgers and shakes for any Sim that dropped by. That stage was a place where teens held fashion shows showing off clothes available at the various stores in the mall. It was like an after school job. There was also the ability for your Sims to walk the mall (like those men and women that you see in what few malls there still are today). It was a good way for your Sims of any age to power walk. There was a little kiosk where male and female sims worked to sell makeup. If you sent a Sims there they would be taught beauty tips from the Sims working there. At one end of the mall was a children’s play area with slides and swings and such. It was fenced off and the toddlers could play to their heart’s content while the parent shopped. The mall was two or three story (I don’t remember exactly as it has been years since I played the Freeplay) but I do remember that there were several jobs attached. There may be some other stuff but that is all i remember at the moment.

I missed the survey-oh no! In my opinion, they should have given us more time to create a larger sample size. Ugh! Anyway, since Sims 4ever isn’t going away, I’d love to see all the game pack themes eventually! Hopefully, they’re just prioritizing which ones to develop first. Even though I missed out, I’m perfectly fine with what others chose as their favorite pack themes. Personally, I’d love a royalty-themed pack where my Sims could have servants catering to them. I remember the funeral of Prince Philip, and I envision an entire world inspired by Windsor Castle, complete with a castle town. I have to admit, I can’t quite picture how they would execute a van life pack, but I’m curious to see what they come up with. I really hope cars are a given by the time that pack is released!

I think it's pretty disgusting that this survey isn't available to every simmer. I have been playing the Sims since Sims 1 and I have yet to get access to ANY of these kinds of surveys.

I had access to it via TS4 Main Screen, but it didn't show until yesterday. I always had the setting to show me any in-game surveys so it's strange it took so long
I chose Modern Monarchy because I have been trying to get the royalty mod to work for ages now but it always throws exceptions so I can't play with it. I'm really inspired by shows like HotD or Bridgerton to tell generational stories around houses or dynasties. I know EA is unlikely to include enough sources of conflict to keep it interesting but with a little imagination I thought it might still be fun. My second pick was the 80s/90s mall concept because it sounded like a lot of cool new activities could be added (they especially got my attention with the mention of tabletop gaming), we could get some cool vintage stuff in BB/CAS, and the features they described seemed unlikely to break the game.

I’m not surprised the Modern Monarchy Pack & 80’s/90’s Mall Pack got the most votes. I also chose both of them because I’m curious about what kind of theme Modern Monarchy Pack it’s? Will it be like “the sims medieval” (in the spin-off theme) from the past time or will it be a present time in the sims 4 modern monarchy? How well done these future ideas features (sims “Forge alliances, engage in rivalries, ruler or navigating the complexities of royal succession, favors for your close-knit circle of trusted friends or not-so-trusted, what kind of adopt exclusive pets, & create a legacy that will be remembered for generations”) will function in the future pack (maybe EP)? And for the 80’s/90’s Mall, I’m also curious about how well done the features in the freelance careers (babysitter, deliver newspapers, & lifeguard). The classic activities (tabletop role-playing games, landline phones, rollerblading). And the gameplay objects (water slide & drink from the hose) will turn out. It’s suck once again we have to choose which ideas future pack to be put in the sims 4. I love all the ideas packs in the survey. I hope to see those are not chosen in the survey will be in the game later future.
My picks were 80s/90s, Sleepaway camp, and van living. I'm a total sucker for the 80s/90s everything, the camp felt like it would add more to the kid life stage, and the van pack makes me think they might add cars and that's been a desperate need for the sims 4
Wow this is very interesting for me to see how many people want a MODERN monarchy pack. Personally I wouldn't have voted for it because while it could actually be cool I don't know how easily it could be blended in with Sims 4 and all of the other packs plus I feel like its going to be European again but if there's going to be people that going to be happy with them I should be happy for them too! For things like the mall for example I would love for them to utilise the for rent system where you can select different rooms and instead of making it different units to make a different lot types. For example, you select the part and make it a restaurant or select another part and make it a retail. Although that's already things from different packs. But maybe it would be a great perk integration
you know, they do technically have a foundation to expand on yes. Granted I worry about the stability of that foundation, but it makes me feel in theory that it could be expanded

Same, same. I liked the idea of curating a museum. Too nerdy? I built my own museum in Willow Creek and made rooms based on different themes. Classic art, Selvadoran Culture exhibit, Native Simerican Art, Sculptures, Eastern Art, Abstract, Contemporary, plus an art restoration room and classroom. Such fun! Modern monarchy was my least favorite. Van life for elders piqued my interest though, just so they have something to do & I always loved the car restoration in TS2.

Honestly i wanted underwater exploration, its the one thing missing from island paradise for me but i feel like i can stand on its own as its own pack, imagin swiming with whale sharks and sea turtles and collecting sea horses and shells. Also im sure underwater would look beautiful in this game. Other than that i really like the 90s mall idea, its my second favorite, but i really dont care for the monarch pack, i feel like we already have enough convoluted systems and we dont need more. I also dont know if we need an ep for that. The van pack sounds okay but i cant imagin it being good. I feel like it would be, click the steiring wheel to go to the world map. But decorating the van would be fun
Oh yes you do bring up another good point about the monarch pack.. you would have to add some likely complex systems, and yeah.. not sure about that. hopefully they will continue to improve the game's stability
I don't really understand the 80s/90s mall at all. For one thing will sims have to take a time machine to get there? Or will it literally just be a mall from the 80s or 90s since that is when most malls were built. A lot of the other ideas seem focused on a specific, detailed new gameplay feature, but this pack seems like it would just be a cluster of random little things... like drinking from a hose...? I would love to see different eras from recent history represented in the game but I expected them in a kit or a stuff pack at most.
No, I don't think it's going back in time. all of the things listed exist today. people and businesses still use landlines. tabletop games are widely played. malls exist. arcades exist. People still wear both 90s and 80s inspired fashion

It was my second choice. It wasn't island paradise refresh. If you selected the option as one of your 3 choices it gave a long description of the 3 you picked. In the long description it made it clear it would come with a coastal Maine type world. Would feature lighthouses, submarines, scuba diving, and exploring underwater caves and shipwrecks for buried treasure.
The survey also asked if there were mods that provide the same experiences they were suggesting in those EPs concepts. I'm glad that they are aware of them after what they did to TurboDriver, the whole attraction system implemented in Lovestruck is a WonderWhims/WickedWhims ripoff.
so I can't agree with this argument. such mods are based on past sims games and general concepts. The system in lovestruck is not the same as the mod, either
I’m going to be real, I didn’t know this was happening at all, and given those small poll numbers, I’m gonna bet a massive chunk of the community didn’t know this was going on at all.
I was rooting for Cyberpunk since I love that aesthetic and the idea of more robots or prosthetics for sims. But monarchy was my second choice as I like that it will add more options to family style game play which is my main style. If this survey goes like the others, there might be a chance that we get all of these ideas down the line. They might just know which ones to make expansions and which to cut down to game packs. I didn't like the idea of the mall without a chance to have your own shop in it, but that would use be too close to Get to Work so I don't see it happening.

What I got from this was that many felt like expansions of things already in the game, which made me realize that the sims needs to stop having pack exclusive features. For examples, aliens should have come with batuu, just copy paste that. The crime expansion sounds like a police extension, which makes me think that the police career should be in the base game (as a rabbit hole only) like many others like medicine, education, military and so on. This is why I also like the grunge kit, yes it overlaps with werewolves. But what about people that want the style without the occult? I would love a cowboy kit without having to deal with horse (let channel my kenergy) And this also reminds me of what they say about project Rene/the future (?) that they wanted for example weather in the base game but later expand winter activities. I can think of many things that could or should be base game or be recycled for other packs. Like, what if they reused mermaids for another aquatic world but different aesthetics? Btw I voted for modern royalty, cyberpunk and dystopian. Cuz I want different environments, challenge and drama.
I can agree in principle. only problem is, messy as it is, not sure what can be done about it now. Ideal would be pack refreshes but apparently that's not going to happen.
I would love a crime pack where you actually go to prison if you're caught, and the prison functions a lot like a holiday, Batuu or an active career lot. You might spend 2-5 game days there depending on the severity of your crime (like how much value you stole), and you have to deal with aggressive prisoner NPCs who want to get into fights, maybe get a tattoo, work on some skills, or you can do some chores/work in order to lessen your time in there. I don't just wanna be able to do crime, see, I want the sims to experience CONSEQUENCES if they get caught!
There's nothing like an EP concept poll to remind me just how out of tune I am with the rest of the simmers lol The Cyberpunk and Crime concepts were the only two I found remotely compelling. The former touted "human robots" and cybernetic modifications, which would be considered something adjacent to Life States, and DLC made around those (Island Living notwithstanding) tend to be relatively successful and evergreen. It is something that sticks with a sim even if you're playing in a different world or experiencing a different pack. So in my mind, Life States = lasting value. The latter... well, it fills a void. Law and crime (outside of the highly scripted, self-contained and unsatisfying Detective career scenarios) are basic fundamental features of past sims games that are absent to this day from Sims 4. So I'd jump on any opportunity to explore that area and hopefully breathe some life into the underbelly of society in a more... integrated-with-everyday-gameplay way? To some extent, I understand what makes the Modern Monarchy idea so compelling. I play Crusader Kings after all... although I doubt Sims 4 could even remotely succeed in making something similar. The fun of CK's succession, inheritance, intrigue and dynastic gameplay comes from the behind-the-scenes complexity tying those systems together that creates emergent (unscripted) storytelling. And Sims 4... complexity, or even communication between disparate systems, is not something I associate with it, and most categorically not with its DLC. And because it's not even medieval monarchy we're talking about, but modern... inherited celebritydom? Reality show featuring dangerously detached people who owe all their relevancy to gossip media? Realistically, what can Modern Monarchy do to mechanically differentiate itself from Get Famous? I don't think throwing in a bunch of exotic pets (something that should be another pack's free refresh) would be enough. The only way I could maybe see it working is they FULLY committed to the drama, gossip and scandal aspects and made the most toxic implementation of fame ever seen in the Sims franchise... but it's Sims 4, they won't. So yah... I feel like most people probably voted based on the theoretical potential of the buzzwords used in the description, without considering the practical limitations of Sims 4, and what we can realistically expect from the implementation of these concepts.
I voted for the van and the summer camp packs. I’m a family player not a chaos player, I don’t care about burglars, I never play villains. I want more stuff for seniors and kids. Sorry not sorry
Heyy, can I get ur opinion on why you like the idea of a fossil pack? That was my lowest option, as I kind of saw it as just another collectable pack and could likely be shallow, but i'm curious to see what your vision would be for it and as to why its one of your favourites, maybe you're imagining something I cant :)
It’s pretty simple for me. I like rocks and fossils and nature and science and museums. Making an actual pack focused on it might lead to an active career, and I’m a sucker for collecting. 😂 Hello, Animal Crossing. 😂
Sleepaway camp gave me gravity falls ,scooby doo vibes whit the idea of childs discovering myths and mysterys in there My second option was apocalypse would be really fun to manage a survival camp The fossil hunting,coral reefs gave subnautica vibes imagine diving in winderburg and saying hi to Ness or building a house"base" underwater
Is it the luxury people were interested in? I go for more the gritty resl life gameplay....i liked the campervan scenario and the crime one really intriguied me too.
maybe? while I do def enjoy some (like get famous can be fun) I feel the game has a lot of modern and luxe things and I'd love to see more gritty elements
i am probably an exception but i should have known the community would pick the most doll houselike, less fun gameplay kind of option, monarchy would give like max twenty minutes of playtime before most get bored
the description for the monarch one sounded like a compilation of all previous sims packs to me - aspects of get famous, pets, city living, get together, and even some eco lifestyle…. I could go on. I worry all new sims 4 packs are just going to be rehashes of old concepts that maxis originally skimmed the players of.
I hope we get better posiblitity to build homes that looks old. if they go for modern monarchies. after all it´s not like we got many new the last 100 years. so their buildings are going going to be old.
I take it you mean more classic architecture. Yes, that would make sense. and of course what it entails would depend on the culture/ region it's set in
you know how food stands and other objets that sell stuff don't automatically hire a vendor unless they're placed in the kind of lot they're meant for? a 90s mall could come with a lot type that automatically makes those stands work so you could use them as food court
these are not the official poll results from the sims team - but also, the team tends to take on several ideas, not merely the first place winner. if you look at past surveys, they have completed many. if they see a substantial enough interest, they'd likely make many of these ideas

I really want arcades as their own lot type. I also wish they would make bowling alleys their own type too tbh, I'm surprised they didn't when they first added it to the game
I was least interested in Modern Monarchy but I'm also not surprised that it won in votes. There's a sizeable portion of the community that's dedicated to royal family stuff. On The Road and Apocalypse were my top picks, so I'm glad one of those got decent votes. Not mad about the 80s/90s mall pack being up there, I do love making fellow 90s Kids.

At first when I first saw "Monarchy" and "pets", my thought immediately went to the Baby Dragons in Dragon Valley from TS3. But then I realized it was "Modern" Monarchy NOT Medieval Monarchy, so who knows what kind of pets could really come with it coz I am honestly really clueless what other pets that could belong to a royal family other than what we already have in the game? With that being said tho, I STILL AM, WAITING FOR SMALL PETS TO COME BACK 😭 Tbh, I have been waiting for Birds, Rodents, Turtles, Lizards, Snakes, etc. to return since Cottage Living! I know we kinda got better birds with Cottage Living (compared to the Bird Feeder in Backyard Stuff), but I still wish they were not lumped together in a flock and we could bond individually with one of them. We also kinda already have Rodents with My First Pet Stuff, idk I guess I just miss the ability to run into them in the world / neighborhood and adopt them similar to how it worked back then in The Sims 3. That part was so much fun to me, I pray every day for it to return and for Small Pets to come back 😭
yeah, I guess there is always a possibility they add a magical realism element to it though it does't seem like it. I do think maybe small pets though there's that whole goofy exclusive issue
Maybe we can still have dragons as some kind of family heritage since Medieval times? Something like Game of Thrones/House of the Dragons but nowdays. If that's the case i hope we can get other mythological creatures as pets like Griffin, Hippogriff, (Medieval) Unicorn, Phoenix, cause i'm pretty sure seeing them while studying Europe's history and its monarchys, kingdoms, etc.
I didn't know they wanted our feedback on a new expansion. I would have told them I don't want any new expansions that cost more money, and I want them to fix the bugs and content from the base game and deepend the fundamentals and first packs for free. Ugh I got bad flashbacks to Medieval now. I always eventually hit a gamebreaking bug that forced starting over and deleting my save file.
regardless, they will keep making eps because they decided to keep sims 4 going for many years. we did just get a huge patch, so hopefully those bug fixes will keep coming in such a manner
I really like the crime/heist one. It could've merged with the modern monarch one too, either be a rich monarch or a robin hood in modern times for example. I also really like the 80/90s mall one as well.

Honestly the cyberpunk could've combined with both the criminal AND the apocalyptic pack (they're just subparts of cyberpunk). 🥲 The ocean exploration was my second pack because it would've added so much AND probably would've seen mermaids refreshed.
Mall is important as a lot type because then we can probably put restaurants coffee shops cinemas etc all together in one lot and have it all be functional 😢
I'd still say if they did that though a bg update for multifunctional may be possible
now I do think some things- like the cinema- would be rabbit holes.
We also of course run into the issue of only so many sims spawning per lot
Yeah, I wondered if that was coming after For Rent. Since they found a way for different households to live in the same lots, I assume that multiple businesses types in the same lot is coming soon.
I already try to build the lot with residental rental lot just above the community places as a multi functional lot
Hopefully with the 80's/90's pack they add multi-functional lots but also like each community in 1 lot (clothes store, restaurant, pet store to name a few)
Or the household running a business while they lives just above where they works (it's realistic, or atleast where i live)

Same. Also the cyberpunk one. Those two were more unique than what we've had in the past, same with fossil hunting honestly though I don't know how it could work as an EP, maybe an SP would work best. They all seem really unique and we can't exactly replicate them using mods or things that exist in the game already (I am certain there's a way to make royalty already with what we have using clubs and the fame system, even malls we can already make and either download mods or utilise clubs and such for jobs).

Id really like the sleepaway and apocalypse stuff. I'm into the more fantasy (less realistic) sim stuff. Cyberpunk would be fun too, and I'm less into scifi.

Sleepaway would really be helpful for boarding school gameplay! Or better yet, they should just add boarding school as an option. I don't know if HSY is still as messy as it was at launch tho, could be a nightmare to run... But I feel like being able to have a separate high school with dorms could be great (the bones are already there with university, just need to implement it on teens)
Bring me the 80s-90s. It's so on-brand for there to be a Decade pack. Give me crime! I miss burglars, I miss being a criminal in TS3. There are so many things in the game that hint at crime but it's so easy to just be Mr. Bad Guy with no consequences, no jail, and everyone adores you. I want it to be easier to be hated.

I really am intrigued by a potential mechanic career. I think this will change our relationship with cars in the game. If done correctly, if what we are seeing from The Sims team is any indication, this could be a very good upcoming year for the game.. but I feel like we experience this positive feeling every time they do a small wave of updates and statements. That said, it does look like EA is trying to stay competitive and they've seen what people have had to say. I'm curious how many are on the team now compared to... just before the pandemic.

I think these concepts (likely) we may not see for 2 years or so. It's hard to say, and it depends on what their pipeline looks like, but I'd think it'd be a while because it takes a long bit to make an expansion pack.
I do hope the rest of this year is positive as possible. I have seen many report that the stability of their games have improved, and if so, that's def a great step forward

Modern monarchy just makes sense with the way people play the sims. We love rags to riches, we love multi-generational legacies, we love grandiose love stories and/or scandalous affairs, we love drama. Imagine if it was kind of like Eco Lifestyle where depending on the laws you enact you could dramatically change the actual world around you, making it run down and crime-ridden or peaceful and prosperous(I know that modern monarchs are usually figureheads so that might not make sense but it would be a missed opportunity for more interesting gameplay I think). I also imagine it being kind of like My Wedding Stories in the CAS and Build/Buy categories with representation for multiple different cultures, it would be lame if it was based on the British royal family, Asia has more modern monarchies than Europe after all.
While I don't think it's a we issue- I agree many do play rags to riches. Thanks for your perspective

There was plenty of cool options, but I went with Both Cyberpunk and Monarchy, but I chose Monarchy in the end out of my last 2, since I felt like Monarchy might work well with Vampires,

Monarchy was in my top five, I’m already using the get famous pack to pretend my sims are royal so it would be nice to actually have a monarchy pack. Great idea blending it with vampires, I would blend it with werewolves and do beauty and the beast storytelling

I thought about voting it for it but I figured I wouldn't have liked the implementation. Very few games pull off underwater exploration right and I doubt sims would have been one of them.

@@Crisalpha I completely agree I was so disappointed when island living came out and it was so lack luster. When I was like 13 sims 3 island paradise was so good. The whole owning a resort concept was so cool and felt so rewarding when you hit 5 star resort status, also I actually felt sims 3 did the underwater really well. Not to mention 13 year old me shitting my pants and freaking out on my houseboat when a kraken would swim under. As much as I would like this on the sims 4 they already did the island pack and knowing how buggy all the expansions are on release id rather we just get a expansion that is based on something we haven’t already gotten.

All in all I sort of understand why these ideas are in the lead, because they are a reflection of what is trending in the current pop culture.
The "Modern Monarchy" just screams British Royalty or Bridgerton in modern times. Horses could been perfect for the elite "exotic pets", though I'm not too sure how the rest of the pets fit with the whole concept of the royalty and the ultra rich.
The 80s/90s look pretty cool (though the fashion reminds me of the Retro fit Kit?), I'm thinking people are feel nostalgic more than ever. Even for Gen Z, who are not even BORN in these decades, have an urge to reenact the mid to late 20th century aesthetics.

I’m a Brit so yes I see the pack reflecting Bridgerton but not current British monarchy. Only really as a wish for the opulent lifestyle of the past.
The idea of a modern monarchy is great. Pet wise I was thinking more exotic, I want lions and tigers. Modern Princess Jasmine. But I don't really expect them to do this.
I also really loved the crime/ heist idea. Specifically the vigilante part. The ability to create heroes and villains is a want. That's drama and action. As long as it's implemented well.
yeah I was surprised even when they added llamas to the game but of course there was a lot in cottage living tied to stalls. only larger animals we got were horses and as we know they did a whole ep for them. so I am guessing they'd be small- but I could be wrong.

I liked the exploration and dinosaur fossils with more interactive museums and maybe sleep away camp although I was a bit concerned about what happens to the rest of the household when you send a kid to camp. Could you swap between the two, or are you stuck at camp the whole time the kid’s there?

Judging by the pie chart, it's painfully clear that I'm not the core audience of that franchise anymore... my most favorite concepts were Apocalypse and Cyberpunk XD
A lot of those pack ideas brought up things that don't particularly belong together, but certainly had individual appeal (like elder people having gameplay in... On The Road, which is totally unrelated !), and it clearly played a part in the votes you used as a basis for this video.
The pets for Modern Monarchy could be fantasy pets (like dragons for instance). Personally I'd be game for political stuff that has an incidence on the world (Eco Living is already about activitism that changes the world, but its policies are limited to certain things and individualizes a lot of behaviors), but at the same time I know TS4 would probably never give me political intrigue with any kind of substance...
Meanwhile the 80s/90s Mall idea is, like, exactly what I expect that game to execute fairly well, by adding lot types, jobs and activities, but no actual gameplay that adds to the *mechanics* we already know. It adds content that's easy to add to the pile, without making anything more interesting. That said, adding an entire world that's a giant mall, where each neighborhood is a different floor, and the various lots are stores/restaurants, would absolutely be a great idea ; it would make the food court doable in a way similar to the festivals, too. Sadly I don't think EA would ever come up with something that original. Overall TS4 really should experiment with worlds a lot more imho, like the underwater pack they suggested should be an underwater village where you can live in giant bubbles, come on ! How did they miss that idea, when someone made concept art for it YEARS ago ! Try a little, EA. You can't just say "drama" and expect people to be pleased with the bare minimum.
That's actually a huge red flag for me, when EA uses "drama" in a description for a pack. I know it's just going to be soap opera levels of BS, without any consequences, and that stuff has zero appeal to me. I don't want more drama, I want more depth. It's very different.
I voted for cyberpunk as my second choice, which was basically tied with apocalyptic if I could have voted three. I can't say for sure what conclusions to draw.. since this is indeed a small sample here.

Yeah I REALLY want cyberpunk - it's a niche that's completely missing in life sims! There's one in the works, but I DO NOT like its visual style.
@@christabelle__ In TS2 it was really easy to use an empty world to create something apocalyptic or futuristic or sciencefictiony. But with TS4 having so much detail in the worlds, you can't pretend you're on another planet or in a dystopian world, so a themed DLC feels more necessary. Like what am I going to do, pretend I have a Cyberpunk society in the middle of Oasis Springs' decor ?
It was clear from the get go that Sims 4 isn't really made to address all preferences and to make your stories. Since the worlds are premade, you get severely limited by the stories that could be told there OR you use CC and try to ignore and pretend. It's all around mainstream generic modern day life. Fantasy / medieval / sci fi and so on have almost nothing aside from the occult packs. I also voted cyberpunk btw, sad it's almost last...
@@Crisalpha Agreed. The game was promoted around the concept of "telling our own stories", but it also limits where and how more than any of the three that came before it. I don't expect medieval stuff (or any historic stuff, in fact ; the castle kit came as a surprise to me) because of how embedded a certain level of technology is in the gameplay (mainly the phones, but not just them), which would make it necessary to create huge workarounds that we all know EA will never invest in. However for futuristic stuff, it feels like it should be doable, I don't know.
In any case, yeah, TS4 has been a disappointment for me, as a player who had done so many sci-fi stories in TS2 for instance.

That Modern Monarchy Pack sounds more like a spin off then a pack. Like how does it either mesh with the existing game or how it is cut off from it so that there is no bleed over? Worlds are not isolated after all, they all bleed into each other. Will Royalty, like celebrities, be turning up at the dumpster when your sims in dumpster diving in Evergreen Harbor?
I hope not but it's the Sims 4. I want a monarchy pack BC I'm not ever gonna play Sims medieval. I have no interest in it. I know the pack will bring something new to the game and it sounds expansion pack worthy if it's well executed.
I'd say I'd at least think it should be a cut off world from the rest of the game, but idk.

@@westanimesims Yeah its funny the first two times Celebs show up where they shouldn’t be and then its just annoying. Really a lot of EP ideas they have would be great in the Sims 4 format as SPIN OFFS like Castaway and Mideviel had been but its like they are afraid of anything Sims 4-like that isn’t a Sims 4 pack shoved into the Sims 4 game at large.
It would also probably run better as a spin off game since it wouldn’t be loading ALL of Sims 4, most of which isn’t relevant to royalty play, in addition to the contents of the pack. Especially since this is a concept played better in isolation anyway, just make it its own game.

I think a lot of packs in Sims 4 should be spin offs. Strangerville or Jungle Adventure are the ones come to mind.

I feel less like the community actually voted for a new pack and more like EA wanted to see if the expansion pack they were working on would be popular. As an anti-monarchist I was least interested in that pack (sounds possibly quite Get Famous-y in terms of game mechanics). I hope that by offering a van-life pack that they are in fact going to adapt the game to finally include vehicle gameplay. Certainly going to be seeking a refund if they drop that expansion and don't update the game to include vehicles. The 80s/90s theme calls to me - I hope I'm not projecting my desire to be able to recreate Sims 1 vibes through use of it. Considering EA's track record I won't get my hopes up.

I love sims worlds, so I'd look into that, but I'm a part apocalypse voter.
I don't think they CAN adapt the game to include driveable cars and other vehicles, at least not without redoing the entire engine. The current engine simply was not designed to handle them (and the worlds weren't either, for that matter).
Im fine with sims team taking inspo and gameplay from mods, like that i dont have to worry about said mods breaking my game every single time an update happens.
tbh I don't think they are really looking at mods anyway... a lot of mods (not all) are based on ether community wishes or past games and usually both
This is so disappointing. Game already has lots of both modern and luxury, monarchy would only matter if you had something big to run and I dont see that happening. All the more unique ideas get pushed aside for more of the same and we just end up with the game feeling stale. I know unique packs are hard cause they aren't for everyone and get review bombed for it, but there are no life Sims as close as the Sims to covering a variety of themes, cultures and settings. Maybe they should just set up a new team dedicated to Spin-Offs like The Sims Medieval and Castaway. At the very least, I hope they favor the Retro Mall over the Modern Monarchy one, its unique enough and sounds much nicer than the rest of the top 5 (On the Road/Heists sound like nice ideas but probably very limited in what they can do with them in this game).

I will always say, packs should vary of course, because we have different things we enjoy. and some packs just wont' be for everyone, so I do hope to see a more so called risky pack too
@@CasualMurf i have to admit out of the 9 pack ideas, the 2 of them should be in a spin-off one (one of them is a monarchy one, i don't mind having them, just not in The Sims 4 in itself, the other being the extreme one, if not mistaken the "post apocalyptic" pack idea)

The mall pack is both a different theme than typical and seems to need different mechanics, which would bring something fresh to the game.
The fossil hunting is just base game + Jungle Adventure, so unsurprising it wasn't really popular.
My favorite was the sleepaway camp because I've been longing for the pack Outdoor Retreat could have been, plus it'd be lovely to have more specific gameplay dedicated to children (not just one off interactions in larger packs.)
With the crime pack, I just don't think the Sims 4 has the capacity to introduce the gameplay consequences to make this pack fun and worth itmn
The sleep away pack I can see the appeal. I'll be annoying and say it feels a lot more game pack esque (but those arguments always happen ha). Sims 4 crime pack I agree that there are areas of it I am a little skeptical of

I don't have the latest update yet, but what frustrates me is the limited option for medical wearables. I'm disabled, I understand functional wheelchairs would be a big hassle to code, but we could at the very least get cosmetic prosthetic limbs or even walking canes. It's pretty basic and would really add to the diversity they tried to implement without messing with the animations. I don't want my sim-self to struggle as much as I do, but I'd feel happy seeing her with her cane!
I really wanted a Expansion pack where Egypt comes back from the Sims 3 World Adventures, I also like the Pack 8 & 9 stuff too.
Overall simmers seem to be looking for excitement one way or another and I’m not sure ea has found out how to deliver yet
Sleeper Camp and 90s Mall were the ones i wanted the most, and i wrote full paragraphs on the survey about why i thought theyd be great. 90s mall for more in-game 'gaming' content (tabletop. More boardgames. Arcade machines.) And Sleeper camp because we really have very, very little specific children's content
bringing tabletop games honestly makes sense, especially since they are popular now too. and could make for a great club if you have get together
About Medieval Monarchy - what if they do it in a form of live show? The new world would be a fake kingdome and you could come there and take a role of royal knight or queen's/king's confidant or maybe even a ruler. As a knight you can take part in knight tournament, maybe royal hunt etc. As a ruler you can make decisions through dialog and see different outcomes in a form of cards (like in rabbit hole activities). As a confidant you can handle some private matters with nobility (maybe some diplomacy, delivering correspondence? ). And we definitely need a masquarade ball and a royal dinner and a court jester and.. So classic medieval monarchy but in kinda cartoonish form. This way it could fit Sims 4 timeline and cause less controversy.

I went with the retro mall theme and also the ocean exploration theme because it mentioned an underwater world. I wrote in the comment section that if they went that pack it would be a good time to refresh and expand the mermaids in the Sims 4.

I personally voted for 80s/90s mall theme first and modern monarchy second. As a 90s kid myself it would be really fun to have malls in the game. I would love to have being a babysitter back in the game and I've always wanted my child sims to be able to be the paper delivery sim when I played the sims 3.
As for the monarchy one, I can't tell you how many times I've tried to recreate some semblance of a modern monarchy in both the sims 3 and 4. It's one of my favorite themes to play besides just a regular legacy.
My third choice would've been the sleepaway camp cause I never got to go to one as a kid and I just want the chance to live through it with my sims.
I voted for the modern monarchy and apocalypse, but I kinda missed the “modern” part😬 I just really want to have royal families for my fantasy save files, I wish they’d went for a more medieval tone, but I guess the excuse for not doing that is that we got a kit for it🙄An apocalypse themed pack is right up my alley, the “rags to riches” types of challenges where you have to start from the ground up have always intrigued me and I’d love a full on survival challenge.
I have a hard time understanding why 80’s and the on the road concepts are so high up, they just seem incredibly generic.
I'd guess the main concern is integrating it into a game (for going modern) or maybe they felt it would be easier to make ? always curious to see how they come up with their ideas

Fossil hunting with 5% 😂 i fossil hunt around western Pennsylvania to eastern Ohio and West Virginia. All Carboniferous and early Permian unless you go north west Pa and most of Ohio are Devonian ocean. I think the sims 4 has enough fossils. I still want better jobs. A rework of the hospital and police jobs. This survey has a bunch of neat ideas that all could be fun if done well. Having turtles 🐢 as pets would be awesome and ramen shops got me interested. Whatever we get I’ll be ok with it. Malls are a definite must for the sims 4 if once again done right. Sims 3 would handle a mall better with the open world game play. Food court vs just having food stalls could be great if done right. Some great ideas here. Hope you’re doing well and have a great week!

The app Rockd is a good resource for finding what geological formations you’re in but it doesn’t tell you which horizon of sedimentary rock it is. I use Rockd to talk to museums and universities around the nation. You’ll find mainly sea life around most of Ohio unless you’re done in the Kanawha group then it’s a combination of sea, coal swamps and river systems and delta systems ranging from 330 million to 285 million years in age
80s/90s Mall and Sleepaway Camp are my picks. They both seem cute and nostalgic (And I love 70s-90s aesthetics) but also actually seem like something that could be used and played with often across multiple families and generations. Modern Monarchy seems like the kind of thing I probably wouldn't even buy but if I did I'd play through it once and then never really touch the mechanics again.
I voted for monarchy because I don’t play modern gameplay & I’m hoping the social interactions & mechanics of it can be adapted for historical/fantasy play. Also, the pack description gave me a very UAE/KSA feel, so I’m hoping (or perhaps coping 😮💨) for middle eastern fashions & architecture, & cheetahs/big cats as the unique exotic pets.
I saw the result of this poll just a few hours after it went LIVE, and it honestly kinda shocked me and worried me (personal opinion), especially how a lot of people voiced their concerns and lack of interest for MODERN Monarchy NOT being MEDIEVAL Monarchy. I personally would still love to hear more from them why they are against Modern Monarchy, and only interested in Medieval Monarchy. I'm not really into both, but if it has to come, I also much more prefer the Medieval takes. However, I do realize how it could be out of place in TS4 where all of the worlds are connected in a way.
I really want my Sims to be queens or kings. I guess I'm the minority BC I don't want it to be medieval. As long as it fits with the theme of Sims 4 I'm all good. the pack tells for great storytelling

@@stevenchippssI don’t like the idea of modern monarchy because if they are kings and queens in modern times, they are just wealthy people following made up rules that force them to live in a human museum with no relevance to culture other than gossip and pageantry. If the gameplay is that monarchy is the system of modern government, that’s far too dark a theme for ts4 to cover with any depth. The currently existing absolute monarchies are not situations I would like to role play. If it’s shallow, you can already make a rich sim and I guess they will just add crowns and curtsies? A historical or even futuristic monarchy pack could be fun and escapist if their world was fully fleshed out. If future people are actually ruled by an absolute monarchy, surely that means an apocalypse has occurred and your rulers need to manage a dystopia, perhaps resisted by cyberpunks.

My gut instinct says a royal pack is already at least in works from concept as it's kind of been hinted at in many ways plus in lore we have princess Cordelia but I mean if Sims 4 is where they are hedging all there bets and sticking around for years to come all of these could make the cut at some point. To me, some sound more like game pack ideas or should be expansion pack refreshes. I really wish they'd also put out a write-in poll for future development because I think some of us in the community have much better ideas! 😂 when I saw the full description of the fossil pack it did sound interesting like an African or middle east inspired land to discover lost history and have proper museums is needed and the seaside theme could be fun if they had lore like jaws Amity Harbor but I also really want real drama and consequences and more sims spawning where appropriate. High school years said drama and I still am like where's the drama? I still don't understand why sims 2 gameplay mechanics can't make into sims 4. Maybe that's a topic you can explore :)
Modern Monarchy could be the first expansion that I won't get, I think the theme has nothing to offer for me
@@Sandra-86 I haven't brought either of the last 2 expansions packs so I get it and for me I would have preferred it to be more medieval than modern-based, but I guess they feel they did that already! I used to just buy them all, but I am at the point if I am not that interested, or it seems buggy and broken upon release I either won't get it at all or hold out until it's at least 50 percent off during a sale! :)

I have a theory that eps have been downsized. You see, they have cost $40 since 2014 and a lot of games have raised their prices/. so we could be seeing a shinkflation issue. I'd like objective means to measure that though and idk it's been even for all packs that way

But I do think they take votes into consideration: they may eliminate a few and decide how and what to prioritize. the official survey also asked if you felt more or less interested after seeing the full descriptions, so they are prob trying to figure out marketing and also what to include in each pack they decide to do
I have zero interest is modern monarchy. I knew it was going to win. I really wanted crime. The game needs more consequences and unexpected things to interfere with your sims.
Man, Cyberpunk would have been my top pick, if I'd done this! I LOVE Cyberpunk stuff, and it's something that's lacking in the market - ESPECIALLY in life sims...there are none. There is one in the works, but the style is like...Minecraft/Roblox except for the humans, who are high rez - it's not my favorite blend of styles. The Sims 4 doing Cyberpunk wouldn't be perfect, but it would be better than the literal nothing that exists for Cyberpunk Life Sims. If they got the world in game, and set up the systems...modders could pick up the slack, at the least! Kinda bummed that it's almost in last place. :( (Cyberpunk also often comes with a lot of 80s aesthetics as part of the genre, it's the retro-futurism aspect of it - so it would do double-duty! xD And hey, there's always an aspect of underground crime in Cyberpunk too - so it covers ANOTHER of those packs! >_>)
Cyberpunk and ap. were my tied two so I get it (for second place, but voted cyberpunk). I think it'd feel potentially fresh
I went for the van and the ocean options. The van might bring cars and driving for once and all. The ocean I was dreaming for an Atlantis world where you live in a fictional modern underwater city. I know that will probably never happen but hey one can dream. If they do the modern monarchy I wish the make it based in a Dubai/ Arab monarchy, the pets can be lions and cheetah, they do that in Dubai, they also have lots of high rises where they can implement the estate managing thing. That will finally give us an Arab world.

@@SimmerErin it's the most interesting, the community has been asking for this for so long, it also features property management and it's something new that we've never seen in any mainline Sims game. Up til now most expansions have been about something we've already had before, but the only other time we've had royalty in The Sims was in TS Medieval and this could act as a sort of spiritual sequel to that.
Elders would have had some gameplay and possiblity ot cars. Kids could havad had some gameplay. Could have made a team of superheros and supervillians and had them defend the city or cause all kinds of chaos. And instead people wanted.....a legacy expansion pack under the guise of royalty. So let the complaining about no cars and no gameplay continue. Yes I am salty about the packs I voted for not being picked. It just would have been nice to have something new especially if this game is expected to go on for another 10 years.

Oof. Sims 4 is 10 years old... It feels nostalgic. People were really excited about the idea of a Sims five announcement, and now people are hype for an 80s / 90s expansion. One of the most recent kits focused on the early 2000s for cas. -_- I'm just so tired of moving backwards chronologically. Personally, I didn't even care much for it... But the on the road theme would have given elders something to do, a very underserved Sims category.
From what I've noticed in discussions, the Retro theme isn't desired for nostalgia or aesthetics per say. It's instead players being aware what TS4 is both capable of and can't fail even with its usual barebones expansion habits as of late, moreso when knowing how it should be cross-play compatible and still make functional sense (even if TS4's Expansions aren't necessarily capable of it). Also, it's the least likely to feel much like a pack that should've already been included in a far earlier pack. eg, Modern Monarchy is Get Famous 2.0 🤷♀
But I agree it's pathetic they're too lazy to create a long-lasting engine for TS5, and instead trying to continue forcing TS4's mobile-designed engine to last forever. I never expected Rene to be TS5, but I was really hoping it was the experimental project for the sake of developing TS5's core coding. Regardless, they're still trying the MMO route and it'll bite them in the bum if they truly canceled TS5 and aren't trying to psych us out by claiming TS4 is 4ever - and that's being skeptical they're trying that hard lol
hm, I feel like sims 4 has tons of modern stuff too though, more so than it does older content . But depending on one's age, people will have a different idea of what old means..
@@SimmerErin thank you for taking your time and replying, I know you don't have to poke through all these comments and it means a lot. For me, we have a lot of packs that could use touch ups. Some designs are dated, and that's actually really great. If I want to make a room that looked like rooms looked in my highschool days, I can whip up something from 2010. Pastel pop, highschool, throwback, maybe some dream home decorator and get together stuff for good measure. It's when the skandi style just started getting big... But say I switch gears and I want to make a 1910's art nouveaux room. It's a little harder but I can use relm of magic, University, and the new bistro kit... With a little elbow grease I can age anything to the right decade, I could probably make a mall too... But I can't recreate gameplay ... Do I think creating a 'mall' lot is a cool idea, yeah. Would I make an outdoor market for contemporary builds because that's what's replacing them in real life currently.... Also yeah. I can't recreate ramen shops or board games stores as easily as I can make a place look like one. I can't as a PlayStation user mod in those things. But if I have to choose between the mall concept, or possibly adding a driving mechanic and giving elders some more fun stuff to do... I feel like even if I as a build mode centric simmer don't benefit from all that new gameplay, the van life expansion is way more unique then modern royalty or the retro mall. You know? It's not really my fight 😁 but even though that's the case, I can recognize that it's more expansive on a narrative level. (If ea can actually pull it off and give the description justice in game. )
I admit that the RV travel pack was one of my picks. I like the idea that Grandpa and Grandma could hop in the RV and hit the other worlds. If their kids have settled with their family in different worlds, Gramps and Grams could go visit each one. I imagine that if your sims buys an RV, it comes with a lot, an RV campground where they park. It would have NPC travelers in other RVs to meet and befriend. There would be a Rec Hall for cards, games, puzzles, sewing, knitting, reading, painting, playing the piano and ways to build other skills. There could be a RV park barbeque on the odd Saturdays. A swimming pool and elder fitness center and an outdoor movie screen. When your sim wants to travel, you click TRAVEL in your phone and the world map appears and you pick your destination. POOF! Suddenly, you are there. The game would place an RV park very similar to the one you live in but dressed to match the world where it is placed. Like a KOA campground. Now you can explore a new city park, go out to eat or shop among other things. The RV lot and be placed by the game on a "special" lot like the Police Station, Hospital and Lab. As you travel, the lot and the surroundings change to suit the world you traveled to. There would only be one RV that you could somewhat change and decorate. It would, after all, actually stay parked in the RV park so it could have slide-outs to allow for more room to move around. There might also be a storage box where you could store chairs, a table, string lights, etc.
that would make for some nice stories. You have some convincing ideas, and while it's still not a pick for me, it definitely makes it sound a lot more appealing!
I went with the Van life pack and the Monarchy pack. Irl im obsessed with tiny homes/alternative homes so this was up my alley. The monarchy was my 2nd choice but it was almost the Ocean one bv of a underwater world. I did think they wouldn't necessarily fix mermaids for it so I went monarchy. Mermaid princess anyone? I did give opinons on the survey to make it not just European royalty and more variations. And the options to throw it back and make it less modern depending on choices. 80s was also up there for me. Esp with the new live career vibes it was giving
I wish pack refreshes were still being considered, because I can see so much potential in many packs (your mermaids comment reminded me)
@SimmerErin it'd be great if them continuing with ts4 meant refreshes. They're making a lot of patches, but some things were just left really undone. And it'd be odd if mermaids, plant sims, and aliens got fixed in giant patches without touching the packs they were in. (Obvi plantsims are bg)
i don't want monarchy at all. I don't want an overly political game, I play games to escape that. Honestly, a monarchy EP sounds boring... much like how the Castle Estate Kit is boring. Take the exotic pet concept and put it somewhere else. Even it was put in a Game Pack! Werewolves was such a balanced pack, and we deserve more of that. If you want a royalty game, release a new Medieval or medieval inspired spin-off game. I would love an 80's/90's Mall pack with retro furniture, teen babysitting/daycare career. I love the community pool lifeguard career idea. I really want faeries, I REALLY want your basic burglars to come back so we can have security systems again. I love those small true to life details. I would also enjoy tweens, or a visual overhaul to the teen life stage so that there's a noticeable difference between the teen/young adult/adult stages; like how teens looked in the Sims 2. I can't count how many times my Sims have encountered a teenage sim that doesn't look like a teenage sim. It gives a creeper vibe.
I really like the travel van and cops/robbers one. The cops and robbers one mentioned pool tables I think in the smaller description. Maybe I was just seeing what I wanted to lol

I mainly build in Sims 4 & in the survey I voted the Mall & Modern Monarchy as my tops, so I'm pleastly suprise by Sims Community poll winners. This two would be great for building (just my opinion, of course). Mall is quite obvious (ideally being fully customizable lot type), but let me dive into monarchy.
If you look up list of current monarchy in our world - a lot of them are sultanats & emirates, an arab monarchies. That would be a great opportunity to add more representation, if the sims team don't want to go classic British-based route (but knowing how popular Britain Royal Family is, they might do so of course). With basing the pack around arab monarchy, we could get a new desert type world (not based on USA for once), that Courtyard Oasis Kit would fit perfectly. Also furniture less tacky than the Get Famous ones, but still patterned, using paisley & moroccan clover with bold colors as well as neutral swatches.
For gameplay I can see maybe some more mature, drama inducing themes (balls&banquets as new party types we can plan, arranged mariages, of-screen assasinations of royals) being introduced if it possible to do so while still keeping PG14 rating. Also new skills/hobbies - such as archery, competitive shooting/hunting, golf. For pets I imagine mainly birds - hunting ones (falcon, eagle), good looking ones for gardens (peacock, flamingo) & singing/talking ones (parrot, canary) - each type with small, new gameplay like teaching parrots to speak or training falcons in hunting. Possibly expanded/better genalogy trees & inheritance in base game update right before Monarchy pack since legacy stuff seems kind of important for royals? But the more I'm thinking of it, it seems to be more fiting to become a game pack, closed to one world (like Strangerville storyline for example), rather than an expansion pack with possibility to have royal families in every world.

I for one love generational gameplay, and because of that I play a royal family. It also feels like it’s something the Sims has been building up towards. Just within a lot of the items and descriptions and locations around the worlds. There’s a good monarchy presence.

Dang I chose the Van life mostly due to the mechanic career and most obviously they would finally add cars because there would be no point to the career or van life pack. My other choice was the apocalypse because I love survival games and sims kinda falls under that where you have to take care of your character, build a shelter and make sure they don't die. I'm not really into the "winning" options though.

I did vote for the monarchy one. I like to play legacy challenges & the thought of having a little prince or princess learning the ins and outs of ruling the realm appeals to me. Each generation would get wealthier and more powerful. I don't know if it'll be part of the expansion, but I'd love the possibility of the monarchy to be benevolent or cruel, or perhaps somewhere in between.
I have to say that as a Simmer that used to play The Sims Freeplay, that mall was cool. There were several jobs available that were fun.
At the lunch counter/soda shop, I usually had my senior Sims work there where they would make burgers and shakes for any Sim that dropped by.
That stage was a place where teens held fashion shows showing off clothes available at the various stores in the mall. It was like an after school job.
There was also the ability for your Sims to walk the mall (like those men and women that you see in what few malls there still are today). It was a good way for your Sims of any age to power walk.
There was a little kiosk where male and female sims worked to sell makeup. If you sent a Sims there they would be taught beauty tips from the Sims working there.
At one end of the mall was a children’s play area with slides and swings and such. It was fenced off and the toddlers could play to their heart’s content while the parent shopped.
The mall was two or three story (I don’t remember exactly as it has been years since I played the Freeplay) but I do remember that there were several jobs attached. There may be some other stuff but that is all i remember at the moment.

I missed the survey-oh no! In my opinion, they should have given us more time to create a larger sample size. Ugh! Anyway, since Sims 4ever isn’t going away, I’d love to see all the game pack themes eventually! Hopefully, they’re just prioritizing which ones to develop first.
Even though I missed out, I’m perfectly fine with what others chose as their favorite pack themes. Personally, I’d love a royalty-themed pack where my Sims could have servants catering to them. I remember the funeral of Prince Philip, and I envision an entire world inspired by Windsor Castle, complete with a castle town.
I have to admit, I can’t quite picture how they would execute a van life pack, but I’m curious to see what they come up with. I really hope cars are a given by the time that pack is released!

I think it's pretty disgusting that this survey isn't available to every simmer. I have been playing the Sims since Sims 1 and I have yet to get access to ANY of these kinds of surveys.

it's a common thing to do: a random sampling. But I agree I wish it was sent out for everyone to take. I only got to take the official survey because someone tagged me on twitter. would not have known about it
It was open to all. Unfortunately for me i got a call that i couldnt ignore right when i opened the survey and so i wasny able to vote.
I got there through a link from a sims TH-camr. It would have been nice if it was easier to find, but it was available to everyone. I miss them putting this on the home screen in the game, though
I had access to it via TS4 Main Screen, but it didn't show until yesterday. I always had the setting to show me any in-game surveys so it's strange it took so long

I chose Modern Monarchy because I have been trying to get the royalty mod to work for ages now but it always throws exceptions so I can't play with it. I'm really inspired by shows like HotD or Bridgerton to tell generational stories around houses or dynasties. I know EA is unlikely to include enough sources of conflict to keep it interesting but with a little imagination I thought it might still be fun.
My second pick was the 80s/90s mall concept because it sounded like a lot of cool new activities could be added (they especially got my attention with the mention of tabletop gaming), we could get some cool vintage stuff in BB/CAS, and the features they described seemed unlikely to break the game.
I believe like you said, someone refreshed over and over. I really liked the ocean, on the road and 80s/90s mall the greatest. So did my husband.
one person of course would not make a big difference but many people doing it, yes. It would be ideal if they could prevent that. course, the team themselves will have the official results
I’m not surprised the Modern Monarchy Pack & 80’s/90’s Mall Pack got the most votes. I also chose both of them because I’m curious about what kind of theme Modern Monarchy Pack it’s? Will it be like “the sims medieval” (in the spin-off theme) from the past time or will it be a present time in the sims 4 modern monarchy? How well done these future ideas features (sims “Forge alliances, engage in rivalries, ruler or navigating the complexities of royal succession, favors for your close-knit circle of trusted friends or not-so-trusted, what kind of adopt exclusive pets, & create a legacy that will be remembered for generations”) will function in the future pack (maybe EP)? And for the 80’s/90’s Mall, I’m also curious about how well done the features in the freelance careers (babysitter, deliver newspapers, & lifeguard). The classic activities (tabletop role-playing games, landline phones, rollerblading). And the gameplay objects (water slide & drink from the hose) will turn out. It’s suck once again we have to choose which ideas future pack to be put in the sims 4. I love all the ideas packs in the survey. I hope to see those are not chosen in the survey will be in the game later future.

My picks were 80s/90s, Sleepaway camp, and van living. I'm a total sucker for the 80s/90s everything, the camp felt like it would add more to the kid life stage, and the van pack makes me think they might add cars and that's been a desperate need for the sims 4
Wow this is very interesting for me to see how many people want a MODERN monarchy pack. Personally I wouldn't have voted for it because while it could actually be cool I don't know how easily it could be blended in with Sims 4 and all of the other packs plus I feel like its going to be European again but if there's going to be people that going to be happy with them I should be happy for them too! For things like the mall for example I would love for them to utilise the for rent system where you can select different rooms and instead of making it different units to make a different lot types. For example, you select the part and make it a restaurant or select another part and make it a retail. Although that's already things from different packs. But maybe it would be a great perk integration
you know, they do technically have a foundation to expand on yes. Granted I worry about the stability of that foundation, but it makes me feel in theory that it could be expanded
@@SimmerErin I worry about the foundation too, actually the whole game is pretty unstable 😅. I haven't played for months because nothing would work (even without mods). Now I saw this huge update and will try to open my game this weekend, hope it works now 🤞

Same, same. I liked the idea of curating a museum. Too nerdy? I built my own museum in Willow Creek and made rooms based on different themes. Classic art, Selvadoran Culture exhibit, Native Simerican Art, Sculptures, Eastern Art, Abstract, Contemporary, plus an art restoration room and classroom. Such fun! Modern monarchy was my least favorite. Van life for elders piqued my interest though, just so they have something to do & I always loved the car restoration in TS2.

I hope if we get land line phones it’ll be functional. I just want to be able to click on it and have it take me to phone options. I don’t even need the animation. But the animation would make it so much cooler

Honestly i wanted underwater exploration, its the one thing missing from island paradise for me but i feel like i can stand on its own as its own pack, imagin swiming with whale sharks and sea turtles and collecting sea horses and shells. Also im sure underwater would look beautiful in this game.
Other than that i really like the 90s mall idea, its my second favorite, but i really dont care for the monarch pack, i feel like we already have enough convoluted systems and we dont need more. I also dont know if we need an ep for that.
The van pack sounds okay but i cant imagin it being good. I feel like it would be, click the steiring wheel to go to the world map. But decorating the van would be fun
Oh yes you do bring up another good point about the monarch pack.. you would have to add some likely complex systems, and yeah.. not sure about that. hopefully they will continue to improve the game's stability
I don't really understand the 80s/90s mall at all. For one thing will sims have to take a time machine to get there? Or will it literally just be a mall from the 80s or 90s since that is when most malls were built. A lot of the other ideas seem focused on a specific, detailed new gameplay feature, but this pack seems like it would just be a cluster of random little things... like drinking from a hose...? I would love to see different eras from recent history represented in the game but I expected them in a kit or a stuff pack at most.
No, I don't think it's going back in time. all of the things listed exist today. people and businesses still use landlines. tabletop games are widely played. malls exist. arcades exist. People still wear both 90s and 80s inspired fashion

It was my second choice. It wasn't island paradise refresh. If you selected the option as one of your 3 choices it gave a long description of the 3 you picked. In the long description it made it clear it would come with a coastal Maine type world. Would feature lighthouses, submarines, scuba diving, and exploring underwater caves and shipwrecks for buried treasure.

The survey also asked if there were mods that provide the same experiences they were suggesting in those EPs concepts. I'm glad that they are aware of them after what they did to TurboDriver, the whole attraction system implemented in Lovestruck is a WonderWhims/WickedWhims ripoff.
so I can't agree with this argument. such mods are based on past sims games and general concepts. The system in lovestruck is not the same as the mod, either
I’m going to be real, I didn’t know this was happening at all, and given those small poll numbers, I’m gonna bet a massive chunk of the community didn’t know this was going on at all.

I was rooting for Cyberpunk since I love that aesthetic and the idea of more robots or prosthetics for sims. But monarchy was my second choice as I like that it will add more options to family style game play which is my main style. If this survey goes like the others, there might be a chance that we get all of these ideas down the line. They might just know which ones to make expansions and which to cut down to game packs. I didn't like the idea of the mall without a chance to have your own shop in it, but that would use be too close to Get to Work so I don't see it happening.
I wonder if we will still see game packs. It's hard to say, I do think that many of these could be a game pack ideally
@@SimmerErin True, maybe stuff packs would have been a more accurate choice? Game packs have been pretty neglected. I keep hoping they'll come back but it's not looking too good...
What I got from this was that many felt like expansions of things already in the game, which made me realize that the sims needs to stop having pack exclusive features.
For examples, aliens should have come with batuu, just copy paste that. The crime expansion sounds like a police extension, which makes me think that the police career should be in the base game (as a rabbit hole only) like many others like medicine, education, military and so on.
This is why I also like the grunge kit, yes it overlaps with werewolves. But what about people that want the style without the occult? I would love a cowboy kit without having to deal with horse (let channel my kenergy)
And this also reminds me of what they say about project Rene/the future (?) that they wanted for example weather in the base game but later expand winter activities.
I can think of many things that could or should be base game or be recycled for other packs. Like, what if they reused mermaids for another aquatic world but different aesthetics?
Btw I voted for modern royalty, cyberpunk and dystopian. Cuz I want different environments, challenge and drama.
I can agree in principle. only problem is, messy as it is, not sure what can be done about it now. Ideal would be pack refreshes but apparently that's not going to happen.
I would love a crime pack where you actually go to prison if you're caught, and the prison functions a lot like a holiday, Batuu or an active career lot. You might spend 2-5 game days there depending on the severity of your crime (like how much value you stole), and you have to deal with aggressive prisoner NPCs who want to get into fights, maybe get a tattoo, work on some skills, or you can do some chores/work in order to lessen your time in there. I don't just wanna be able to do crime, see, I want the sims to experience CONSEQUENCES if they get caught!

The Cyberpunk and Crime concepts were the only two I found remotely compelling.
The former touted "human robots" and cybernetic modifications, which would be considered something adjacent to Life States, and DLC made around those (Island Living notwithstanding) tend to be relatively successful and evergreen. It is something that sticks with a sim even if you're playing in a different world or experiencing a different pack. So in my mind, Life States = lasting value.
The latter... well, it fills a void. Law and crime (outside of the highly scripted, self-contained and unsatisfying Detective career scenarios) are basic fundamental features of past sims games that are absent to this day from Sims 4. So I'd jump on any opportunity to explore that area and hopefully breathe some life into the underbelly of society in a more... integrated-with-everyday-gameplay way?
To some extent, I understand what makes the Modern Monarchy idea so compelling. I play Crusader Kings after all... although I doubt Sims 4 could even remotely succeed in making something similar. The fun of CK's succession, inheritance, intrigue and dynastic gameplay comes from the behind-the-scenes complexity tying those systems together that creates emergent (unscripted) storytelling. And Sims 4... complexity, or even communication between disparate systems, is not something I associate with it, and most categorically not with its DLC.
And because it's not even medieval monarchy we're talking about, but modern... inherited celebritydom? Reality show featuring dangerously detached people who owe all their relevancy to gossip media? Realistically, what can Modern Monarchy do to mechanically differentiate itself from Get Famous? I don't think throwing in a bunch of exotic pets (something that should be another pack's free refresh) would be enough.
The only way I could maybe see it working is they FULLY committed to the drama, gossip and scandal aspects and made the most toxic implementation of fame ever seen in the Sims franchise... but it's Sims 4, they won't.
So yah... I feel like most people probably voted based on the theoretical potential of the buzzwords used in the description, without considering the practical limitations of Sims 4, and what we can realistically expect from the implementation of these concepts.
I voted for the van and the summer camp packs. I’m a family player not a chaos player, I don’t care about burglars, I never play villains. I want more stuff for seniors and kids. Sorry not sorry

Heyy, can I get ur opinion on why you like the idea of a fossil pack? That was my lowest option, as I kind of saw it as just another collectable pack and could likely be shallow, but i'm curious to see what your vision would be for it and as to why its one of your favourites, maybe you're imagining something I cant :)

Sleepaway camp gave me gravity falls ,scooby doo vibes whit the idea of childs discovering myths and mysterys in there

maybe? while I do def enjoy some (like get famous can be fun) I feel the game has a lot of modern and luxe things and I'd love to see more gritty elements
i am probably an exception but i should have known the community would pick the most doll houselike, less fun gameplay kind of option, monarchy would give like max twenty minutes of playtime before most get bored

the description for the monarch one sounded like a compilation of all previous sims packs to me - aspects of get famous, pets, city living, get together, and even some eco lifestyle…. I could go on. I worry all new sims 4 packs are just going to be rehashes of old concepts that maxis originally skimmed the players of.

I take it you mean more classic architecture. Yes, that would make sense. and of course what it entails would depend on the culture/ region it's set in
you know how food stands and other objets that sell stuff don't automatically hire a vendor unless they're placed in the kind of lot they're meant for? a 90s mall could come with a lot type that automatically makes those stands work so you could use them as food court

these are not the official poll results from the sims team - but also, the team tends to take on several ideas, not merely the first place winner. if you look at past surveys, they have completed many.
if they see a substantial enough interest, they'd likely make many of these ideas

I really want arcades as their own lot type. I also wish they would make bowling alleys their own type too tbh, I'm surprised they didn't when they first added it to the game

I was least interested in Modern Monarchy but I'm also not surprised that it won in votes. There's a sizeable portion of the community that's dedicated to royal family stuff.
On The Road and Apocalypse were my top picks, so I'm glad one of those got decent votes. Not mad about the 80s/90s mall pack being up there, I do love making fellow 90s Kids.

What excites you most about On the Road?
At first when I first saw "Monarchy" and "pets", my thought immediately went to the Baby Dragons in Dragon Valley from TS3. But then I realized it was "Modern" Monarchy NOT Medieval Monarchy, so who knows what kind of pets could really come with it coz I am honestly really clueless what other pets that could belong to a royal family other than what we already have in the game?
With that being said tho, I STILL AM, WAITING FOR SMALL PETS TO COME BACK 😭 Tbh, I have been waiting for Birds, Rodents, Turtles, Lizards, Snakes, etc. to return since Cottage Living! I know we kinda got better birds with Cottage Living (compared to the Bird Feeder in Backyard Stuff), but I still wish they were not lumped together in a flock and we could bond individually with one of them. We also kinda already have Rodents with My First Pet Stuff, idk I guess I just miss the ability to run into them in the world / neighborhood and adopt them similar to how it worked back then in The Sims 3. That part was so much fun to me, I pray every day for it to return and for Small Pets to come back 😭

Maybe we can still have dragons as some kind of family heritage since Medieval times? Something like Game of Thrones/House of the Dragons but nowdays. If that's the case i hope we can get other mythological creatures as pets like Griffin, Hippogriff, (Medieval) Unicorn, Phoenix, cause i'm pretty sure seeing them while studying Europe's history and its monarchys, kingdoms, etc.
I didn't know they wanted our feedback on a new expansion. I would have told them I don't want any new expansions that cost more money, and I want them to fix the bugs and content from the base game and deepend the fundamentals and first packs for free.
Ugh I got bad flashbacks to Medieval now. I always eventually hit a gamebreaking bug that forced starting over and deleting my save file.
regardless, they will keep making eps because they decided to keep sims 4 going for many years. we did just get a huge patch, so hopefully those bug fixes will keep coming in such a manner
