That was a great video. I do too would love to see more hobbies, and I like the way Sims2 did hobbies too with personality and lifestyle unlocking a hobby. For instance if you’re outdoorsy and love nature maybe you would excel in gardening, or creative and a foodie boost the cooking skill.
Beside bug fixes I think the sims 4 is in dire need of hobbies for the sims other than painting. We need ballet, sculpture (that isn’t tied to handiness), ceramics, Better workout stuff like how you see in some mods, some type of electronics or tech stuff, etc
@@SimmerErin I feel like since it’s launch the sims in the sims 4 are going thru an identity crisis. They have no hobbies or cool (subjective i know) skills. They are just existing. I don’t know if it’s nostalgia or what but previous sims game the sims and world felt alive.
@@Poohbear634 we do have activities/ like hobbies but I feel it's very.. oddly disconnected, if that makes sense/ I kinda feel like the overall planning of sims 4 as a whole is a big issue
Would love more hobbies: Ballet Cars (fixer uppers) Drums/Saxophone (more instruments in general) Pottery Oragami would be super cool and something I hadn't thought of More gym equipment
cool ideas. Tbh I hadn't thought of origami until I started browsing hobbies lol. What kind of gym equipment? bold of me, but multiple types and styles of dance could be cool
I would love the Sims 4 CHILD play experience to be given more. Like many sports Sim kids can’t even play so not only are they shallow for adults, all age groups can’t necessarily participate. I shouldn’t need a mod to have my child sim throw around a football or do yoga at the gym with his dad. Throwing around a ball with your kid is just a basic core experience. Sims 2 and 3 kids also could just play with each other. Things like tag and cops and robbers. And Sims 4 kids get 1000 variations of the same freaking art table. I’d love for them to be able to freaking just play with adults, older siblings, and same age siblings on simple things like throwing the ball around and games that just involve running around the yard. And also have it have the long term impact of loving or hating these activities.
I hate how in ts4, most hobbies or activities are directly tied to an object, and usually a large, jarring object that stands out (ex: all kids activities, chess TABLE, game TABLE, etc.)
@@fleetwoodmak777 Yeah, I believe the only children’s slide in game has to be attached to the giant tree house which I can’t even fit in most of my yards. And instead of voidcritters battle station being a handheld game its larger than the actual children in game and needs a whole room to itself!!! I put it in an arcade because it just makes no sense in a house. What is with all the oversized objects? I actually like the games and puzzels for family play but I wish they were something you could put on a regular table like the dining table and then put away instead of needing their own dedicated tables.
So much yes to this: just throwing a ball or frisbee back and forth, or being able to play tag would be great for adding a little depth (and fun) to the child stage!
Totally agree with you on the fixes on the bugs. However, I'm not completely opposed to this pack *if* we can have a functional, in-depth experience. Some personal ones I would enjoy: glassmaking/glass blowing, pottery/sculpting, martial arts, ballet, and something to the equivalent of cosplay/LARPing would be fun too!
Adding more hobbies is a fun idea, but we all know that means another 5 Stuff packs are coming instead of a packed single Expansion for your suggestions to materialize lol.
would be down for any of those honestly if done well cosplay would be a fresh idea in the sims franchise too- granted I have no details on how I'd want it implemented.
@@SimmerErin Yeah for sure! I imagine LARPing as Sims dressing up in medieval attire and acting out sword fights, theater, etc. Cosplay could be a fun upgrade to comic con-inspired festival that came with City Living.
New hobbies to see for me would be diamond art, glass blowing, quilting, sketching, tattoo art, skateboarding, playing drums, playing the harp, clarinet playing, fixing the car, fixing the motorcycle, fixing the dirt bike, learning to drive a car and architecture design skill and architecture career.
all good ideas! I actually used to play the clarinet and now I've been reminded I kinda miss it 😆. And to that point, it would be very refreshing to see a larger range of instruments architect is interesting- by career do you mean an active one?
I want ballet, pottery, archery, a pool table, stuff like that. I also want gambling, I want more pets like birds and reptiles, tarantulas which people consider keeping them a hobby. A D&D game is such a good idea.
See that's why the idea of a bands pack I'd want expanded beyond just touring bands- I'd like to see music and activities for different events and ages
I miss ballet from Freetime. I'm not opposed to adding a soccer goal for better soccer play. Fixing up cars was also a favorite, but would not be useful in TS4 since cars aren't a thing. Pottery was great too.
What is currently in the game really engulfs my hobbies (cooking, painting, journaling, gardening, gaming) but I definitely see the room to add activities. There is a bonsai tree in game, but it isn't really enjoyable to use (I say, as I repot one of my Ficus bonsai). The big hobby I want is cars. Mechanics. Welding. Even if we can't drive the cars, can I just work on one in the garage? I agree with your skepticism on whether this game can handle another system. Every time a new one is added, the game is broken for months.. and in most cases the bugs still linger years later.
yeah I was thinking a bonsai you train and maybe even showcase, bring to exhibits. I have a conservatory near me and they have a whole room of bonsai trees ha Mechanics/ fixer uppers could be a huge seller.. but I wonder what the reaction may be if they had that and no functional cars, you know? that would be my concern yeah, I really want the game to continue to improve not get worse. I do have fun coming up with ideas though- and sometimes I just enjoy that. I also look at it as: ,maybe not in sims 4, but what could be better for a future game
I think more activities are nice, but you have already mentioned what is them inherit problem in the Sims 4. There is no overarching system that ties everything together like in the Sims 2 Freetime. Hobbies are not just things to do, but there are perks to have, related to their personality, interests and even their career track. I feel that even if they try to integrate between packs, they are often shallow and even sometimes packs that could have been integrated are overlooked (not surprising considering we have dozens of packs to go through) Game systems and mechanics in the Sims 4 is rather flawed to say the least, and it has been proven time and time again that it could not live up to the desired depth of gameplay.
This! Every Sims 2 pack feels like a cohesive addon experience to the game where as Sims 4 packs feel like closed experience. Its not just about doing the hobby, its about what it adds to life. For example sports we already have in Sims 4 feels like a bottle experience. Yeah, american football exists in Sims 4 HSY, but I can’t have a sim who played football as a kid, played football in HS and becomes a pro football player. Soccer exist in college and has the same problem, I can’t have a kid who played soccer from grade school through college and maybe even gets a sports scholarship. I am just using sports as one example, diving could be more in depth and impact more worlds as we do have more swimmable worlds now and so could rock climbing. I would love if Sims could do climbing trips in places other than Mt. Komerabi. All these things are pack-based bottle experiences that don’t feel like they impact the game as a whole. Voidcritters also already exist in game and I would love an expanded in-game culture for teens and kids for this pokemon-like game-in the game. Voidcritters even works for teens as plenty of teens were as into pokemon as teens as well as in thier childhood. They invented this pseudo pokemon experience for the kids stuff pack and then never really expanded on it much. Which is a lot of the Sims 4 problem.
Because they don’t go back and recode everything when they add new stuff, like the Crystal Creations deformities.. that was already happening with the stylist chair even if you didn’t have Crystal Creations. They fixed the jewelry malfunction but I believe the stylist chair will still deform certain sims if I’m not mistaken, I haven’t used it in a while as I have a sim who has a beauty salon and I would offer makeovers to the random townies that come in to shop the merchandise, counting it as a days work.
this is the exact problem. when ppl say “we don’t want new packs, we want a fixed game!” it’s not like they don’t know the teams are separate. it’s the fact that the game CANNOT handle more content in this state and shoving more onto it is surely not going to help.
YEAH and the tough thing is.. coming to this realization makes it hard to really remedy. so in some ways, maybe it's more forward thinking for other or future games too
This pack idea actually sounds like it could be pretty good. Of course, they'd have to do it well and also make sure it has as few bugs as possible. And fix the bugs they still currently have in the game. Every time I play Sims 4, I end up really really missing the martial arts hobby/skill they had in Sims 3. It be really cool if they brought it back, and even cooler if they differentiated between a few different types of martial arts (ex some use a lot of weapons, some focus on throws, etc) but even if they didn't, just having it back in S4 would be really cool. There's also a train table in S3 I've always thought would be really cool as a full hobby, so bringing it forward into S4 and majorly expanding it into a proper hobby would be super fun. Dog shows could be really fun, especially ones like agility, though I don't know how well that would work for a dedicated hobby pack.
oh yeah the martial arts skill would be great to add see.. I feel like we could have done a lot more w/ cats and dogs- especially given it was just cats & dogs! I miss some features from 2 and 3. course I also wish they hadn't dropped pack refreshes
I still think children need more hobbies and activities. I usually complete most skills and aspirations before my child age up playing in the normal life span.
We can always use more hobbies in TS4. There are endless hobbies IRL and they literally could add anything they could think of and some players will enjoy and utilize it. When I do gameplay, I try to change it up and rotate revisiting the careers and hobbies that we do have so as to not get too repetitive. Personally my top "hobby" is a TS2 throwback of the tinker/mechanic restoring the car. Listen to the radio, rev engine, wax car, repaint car, hang out, stargaze, woohoo. So much potential "gameplay" - and potentially with little animation actually!
yes! the question is: do you think there is a chance they'd add that and not functional cars? I do agree it has a fair bit of potential and yet seems very feasible too
@@SimmerErin Hmmm. Yeah, I think it's a possibility they'd add "functionality" to cars without making them driveable in the traditional sense. Might have a "travel..." option among the other interactions. However that version of cars would get SO MUCH heck from the community. If they're going to add anything for car functionality, they best go all out from an approval standpoint. I'd be fine either way personally.
Another activity that I've never thought of: tetherball. It would easily work with how Sims has a certain object. And it would be a one or 2 person object.
I love the idea of a hobbies pack, and have wanted one for ages. Freetime was my all-time favourite Sims 2 pack. I think it could be done right, if the hobbies were integrated with each other and with the base game, including the existing likes and dislikes, and possibly including a new system of enthusiasm or interests similar to Sims 2. Essential for me would be hobbies for kids, fully developed. They could possibly be kid versions of the adult hobbies. So yes they should reintroduce the bake oven and bake table from sims 2 and 3, and make it possible for kids to make and sell unique little kids treats like mini-cakes, mini-cupcakes and mini-muffins. I would also like to have back a lot of the old hobbies that we don't have yet, each with both an adult and kid version: pottery (the kids could do smaller and more simple projects), inventing or tinkering (the kid's inventions could be small like model planes and trains, the music boxes from sims 3, lego, etc while the adult could build a time machine, the in-game weather machine etc), ballet or dancing (with some actual dancing along with the typical recital rabbit hole), sculpting (my favourite hobby from sims 3), bug collecting (they could expand the insects from OR), finding and collecting small pets and birds, and candy-making (a reward object from sims 2) and glass-blowing (a store set from the sims 3). If they ever bring back cars in the basegame, then I would like a mechanic hobby as well (like in Sims 2, where the sims could fix up a car and then drive it), but I wouldn't want it without drivable cars.
I soo want mini ovens/ bakes even though it seems like such a small thing. And yes, at least in theory, there should be a way to integrate it with likes and dislikes or build off that general infrastructure like a lot of your ideas... and especially agree w the emphasis of having options for kids too. I don't want kids to get left out
Activities that are missing. Cars, who deserve their own pack. Slides. Water slides. Water rides. Roller coasters. Trampoline. Baby swings. Ball room dancing. Swing dancing. Water sports. Water aerobics for elders. Power walking not tied to one neighborhood. Ballet. Tap dancing. Jump rope. Skateboarding. Mounting bikes. Golf. Dodge ball. Volleyball. T ball or soft ball. Jax. Rock skipping. Bumper cars. Racing in any form at all. Marco polo. Hide n seek. Tag. Squirt guns. Lazer tag. Arcade games. GT doesn't count. Tennis. Ski diving. Better sailing. Pool tables. Again, talent contest. Magic trics. Juggling. Acrobatics. Pottery. Sculpture. Sewing. Hair waxing. Hair salons. First aid. Tattooing. Shoe or hat making. Painting murals from reference. Home movies. Kiddie rides like seesaw etc. And basket weaving. That's all I can think of for now without being too specific. Lol
great list!! I often see people say they don't think there is anything left to be added to sims 4... this just shows how much there is... functionally,. I can understand concerns. But conceptually there's a lot more that could be done.
For me I honestly want more rabbit hole clubs. Like scouts and drama club. I don't enjoy playing actively with a bunch of sims so I'd rather just send some of my kids out to do a hobby on their own just like the scouts works. It's so annoying we only have the two hobby/after school activities for kids. You can do so much with the get together club system that you could bascially just make a club and have any activity as a hobby. So I's rather get rabbit holes like ballet, football, ceramics class etc etc and then maybe one or two active ones with maybe more instruments or something similar.
Love the idea of personalities being related to hobbies but the problem is that personalities mean very little in Sims 4. It’s all about emotions (also mostly useless). I don’t know how to fix it but while more hobbies would be awesome, better individuality would mean so much more to me. I miss those fully developed, truly autonomous Sims from Sims 2. All that being said - we need Bands, more varied sports, and more seated hobbies like scrapbooking (something I do in real life) and sewing. Great video as always! Thanks!
I agree that we need an “freetime” hobbies pack in the sims 4. Depend how stable the game it is in. And If it is done well, I want hobbies like glassmaking/glass blowing, pottery/sculpting, martial arts, ballet, sculpture, pottery, & etc.
Yes I remember I voted on stuff pack themes. I just hope if one of the hobbies (or maybe all in “freetime”, in Sims 3, & new ideas hobbies) be chosen to be in maybe in the future hobbies pack or separate in different theme pack, I hope to see them in the sims 4 in the future done well & function in the game.
Instead of adding more content, I would really love for them to add more connections between the different packs or update them to for example make more bodies of water swimmable, or give the sims actual interests or likes/dislikes that would affect sims behaviour (like a sim dislikes mischief and will never prank people or troll zeh forum without the player initiating it - or an active sim chooses to go for a jog or use sports equipment before using the telly or their phone for fun)
for sure. I'd love that too. while that wasn't my focus for this video, I think working on the systems we currently have and making them more deeply and consistently integrated would be a huge undertaking yet with massive potential
I would love for a hobbies system that functions a little bit like how I thought that ts2's interest system worked when I was a kid. Doing activities builds enthusiasm in the hobby and each hobby is attached to an interest and sharing interests helps to build relationships with other sims by having successful conversations. I feel like this could work together with the clubs in get together well.
I think a lot of people are equating hobbies with skills, but I think a good hobby pack would be finding more things to do with existing skills, rather than introducing a whole bunch of new ones. for example, for the handiness skill you could add pottery. What I always found a bit annoying was how so many things were grouped into one skill. with a hobby pack I would separate the different hobbies into like sub-skills, and instead of liking "fitness" you could like basketball or running or something more realistic like that it also annoyed me that there was no "literature" skill where you could make your sims like reading. so I would add that too.
hobbies can be connected to skills or help you develop skills, but of course they are different things. And you do bring up a pretty interesting point: considering the skills we have, what would be best to add? is there an interest in adding additional skills?
@@TheDawnofVanlife correct but it's with a platform? if that's what it is. I'm looking more for what was in the mobile app, a diving board and then different styles of dives.
I honestly think they should add some kind of group feature for characters that like certain hobbies to do a hang out kind of thing like a book club for those who like to read or an art club kind of thing would be like once or twice a week or something like that and a little flavor to your everyday gameplay.
I like the idea of having more hobbies, and can think of many that could be fun: sewing, quilting, self care (like making bath bombs and body scrubs), dance lessons (ballet, tap, social dance), scrapbooking, furniture and/or car restoration, etc. And it could be great to have an Sims 2 style integrated system (although that could also be frustrating, since it would be surprising if they made the system work for hobbies from other packs, like knitting). But, of course, I worry about how buggy it would be (I am, admittedly, feeling a little extra bitter today, since gardening completely broke in one of my saves: my plants look great and need care, but they no longer produce any harvest 🥲).
yesss and what's cool about some of these is how multi-use they could be. EX: dancing is lessons, but also potential for a career or side gig, and useful for events and interactions w. others Gardening is a mess and has been - I def don't think anything gardening related should be added right now unless they substantial fix the most prominent bugs
So with sports, I would like for the Athlete career to be revamped...Sports would tie into a lot of different packs. Your Athlete sim could start in school and work their way up through university, then to the pros. and that is when the fame system would also kick in. So you could participate in signings, and other stuff and it could be an interactive career all the way through basically, except for Uni.
true, it def would be a good opportunity for that! and your comment makes me think about what I think was on my mind: the idea of not just adding activities, but adding content that complements/ extends with existing content.
Honestly, more than « hobbies » we need activities done with other people. I WISHED the scout meetings were not just a rabbithole but you could follow your child sim at the park and have them meet other sims. I do use the clubs function from Get Together but I was faced with troubles when I did not know who to add to my club. A hobbies pack would feel very lackluster if you did not have something similar to the Starlight Accolades or the events from organisations, where you know you can meet people to share your hobbies with. If they do a band pack, I could imagine a music class happening to practice and a « show » event. Would do well with ballet too! I believe the Community center in GrT was supposed to have days dedicated for some classes (like art class, music class, etc) but I haven’t experienced it at all in my game. :/
yeah... I worry/ theorize with bands they may go just for performance bands but I'd highly prefer the concept expanded to music for all ages and different events: orchestras/ formal events, hiring live musicians, marching band or playing for school, etc
I think this would be an excellent game pack type. I wonder if they would make yet another club-like system (we have clubs, packs, and school organizations), even though it makes more sense to overhaul the club system and make it base game (although that affects the value of GT). For what to include: Bands or school band with new musical instruments would be a great hobby addition. Dance and/or gymnastics are a must. I would also love to see birds and reptiles included in a hobbies back because we just really need those in the game.
I would love to see a comic con kind of event, too, with better cosplay than the geek festival from City Living. Imagine seeing Sims arguing characters, buying and selling comics or (pack integration!) Voidcritter cards. (They really need to make voidcritters available to teens at least.)
YES, see I don't merely want performance bands, but to expand musical options for all ages and even have it for different events too Idk if we will ever get more small pets... but I do kinda miss having more options
Ok. I thought of something else. Lol. Balloons animal art. Also I know we have flower arrangements but I think that can be revisit to making flower sculptures and maybe we can get a landscaping skill. Like shaping the trees and bushes. I wish I could show a screenshot to show what I mean. And also ice sculptures. They already suggested food art and honestly, that would be nice too.
oooh balloon art could be so fun. It's funny we just got a party kit... cause in so many ways I feel a lot more could be/ could have been tapped into for birthdays, especially kids' birthdays ice sculptures could be cool, no pun intended. I **think edible art was one option on that arts/ crafts vote (that eventually turned into nifty knitting) - so I take it like those fruit arrangements etc
I think the problem with the hobbies in the game now is they are just so shallow sure there's a few decent hobbies like knitting and snowboarding was done pretty good but they locked it to one world instead of also offering a halfpipe that could make it a more daily activity instead of only a thing you do on vacation. They should make hobbies more interactive and involve more characters. Skateboarding but add a skatepark object multiple characters can use at once but also have them react to other skaters if they fall or make a jump, add a ballet bar multiple Sims can use at once or be taught by a trainer at but also be able to dance ballet without it with someone, repair cars together with other Sims, karate where you can practice with others. Even if they add drums update other musical instruments where songs can be played together hobbies should involve friends not just a solo robotic activity which has been my issue with Sims 4.
yeah, I think to me they can be fun, but a lot of them aren't really integrated in meaningful ways - this is a concern I've had with 4, to be fair, in general. Great examples with skateboarding and ballet. It's what I'd been thinking too: not merely just adding activities but rather adding them to enhance existing content
I would definitely like to see more hobbies/activities added to the Sims 4. When we were voting for nifty knitting, I actually wanted it to be a game pack so they could've added a lot of the other activities suggested. I'd like to see pottery making, fashion design/fashion shows, surfing, billiard tables, tennis, golf, etc. I doubt if the game, in its current status, could handle it. Still, it is a nice thought.
I'm just having fun and throwing out ideas. We do have candle making already so I personally don't find it far fetched. It's certainly not my top wish, just a lot of ideas to toss out
i really would love sculpting... yknow then being able to have those objects . in your house, selling them in a store etc etc. they got a tiny sprinkle from crystal creations but we need more. let me make things raw from scratch for zero dollars from what i find and make profit on it lol
yeah could be cool, and you could expand that idea pretty far for what one could make as they progress in skill level. Heck you could even make a sculpture park- I have one about half an hour, 40 min away from me
I can’t believe out of everything requested this is what’s next. Maybe it will be cool depends on the hobbies, but why won’t tell put in fairies, cars, more retail and shopping options, romance theme, grim reaper or more occult themed pack, things people keep asking for, like come on. Maybe a hobbies pack will add some of these hopefully
Idk it's being said this is the very top request of the entire community. Nor do I think it's what is coming next But I think it's good to know that it's a huge community = especially with it going free to enter- so safe to say, we all have different priorities. I don't think this excludes those other additions. Romance and bands were both themes from the 2020 survey- so those are very strong possibilities. there was a purported fairies pack survey a long time ago and it **Seems* like we have gotten hints, so I would not be surprised to see that either. I suspect before they stop adding content, we shall see at least a few of those. There was actually even a malls concept on the 2020 survey too- so that could be the extended retail option. But what people are asking for is not one thing, given there are so many players
If the Sims Team does go for a hobby pack, I hope the pre-patch would include a fix for the finchwick fair/high school festival bugs. I haven’t experienced the bug myself, but it causes sims that win HSY festivals to receive things like farm products instead of trophies.
Bands would be the next My Wedding or Dine Out. Why? Because it would require multiple people to act together in a coordinated way, and we know how that works in Sims 4. (It doesn't.)
I could probably go on for days in detail fir all the hobbies and activities we are missing in the game and how they could work. But I'll name some. Some could come in a hobbies ep and some could come in game packs or stuff pack. I think bands should come in a separate ep dedicated to music as a performing arts. With a more expansive explanation on vocal music as well as instruments. And more dance styles and choreography and talent shows with real scors and prizes. Recording deals and tours. Etc. I have detailed ideas for this.
yeah me too ha. I think both music and dance actually could be developed in so many ways. I suspect we will get a performance bands pack, but I hope it isn't just touring and for adults
A lot of these activities are broken, or have problems. The word you used was depth. Do remember when took the sims on dates at an eatery? We would have had dinner and romanced thru a series of questions. It was a lot more satisfying gameplay. In Sim 4 it's a Russian roulette whether gameplay functions and hobbies are dull in the way they make them, like flower arrangement there is only one flower pattern with different colors. No satisfaction in it. So, although I would like have more hobbies my retrospective is - I cringe at what they will make. Thanks, as always for bring as this News, Erin.
@@SimmerErin I believe it is. Sorry my semi-short hand writing style - lol. But I was heading out to work and I had to quickly do my pigeon English impression as quickly as as I could. The latter I am the more "fowl" it gets - lol. Later 😅
@@SimmerErin Bands. Ballet. Pottery. Hiking! God it would be nice to actually see sims hike. Winemaking. Glassblowing. Metal working. Karate. Golf. Hockey. Archery.
I really hope we get hobbies and bands 😭 ballet, pottery, makeup and hair styling for money, sewing/fashion design, modeling, more instruments, more sports, choir/bands, all of this is much needed. Even more workout equipment would be nice (stationary bikes, free weights).
I'm grateful that "hobbies" aren't "integrated" with personalities. So many things on the TS2 list for various hobbies are stereotypical, and not in a positive way. "Lazy" for cooking? I've never met someone interested in cooking who is "lazy." If anything, they're the opposite of lazy. And when I played those in TS2 Freetime, they made it limiting rather than enhancing the gameplay. We already have things in TS4 that influence how Sims responds to their activities: interests. For me, that makes far more sense. My "personality" doesn't affect what I like, but my "interests" certainly do. And those can change over time (which a personality rarely does.) There are certainly activities (that could be called hobbies) that I wouldn't mind seeing in TS4. I'd really like to see more musical instruments, especially if our Sims could form bands which IMHO should include singers if desired. I'd also like to see a pool table again. I'd like to have Sims able to work on junk cars (no driving needed!) It would be fun to have sculpting, glass-blowing, pottery, ballet, sewing (if they could make things to wear a la Nifty Knitting), etc. One thing that I noticed when I was trying to make my list of "hobbies I'd like to see" is that TS4 has most of the things that TS2 and TS3 had in terms of activities/hobbies, as well as things that we've never had in the game. And what we have in TS4 tends to be more developed versions of the ones from the past game versions. You do have to get more packs to get those things, but when you get them they're more interesting to do because they change with the Sim's skill level for that activity and integrate more with other systems. For instance, the selling tables and Plopsy can both be used for things made with the crystal crafter and Nifty Knitting activities in addition to selling them outright, rather than only being able to sell them outright.
I agree I wouldn't want it the exact way sima 2 did- like pairings were weird! I was more thinking a propensity towards certain hobbies based on m more specific traits and aspirations. Sims 2 general ideas I still think are cool- just not entirely the execution. Of course, inherently sims 2 had a pretty different system too (points etc)- good points made there. My position is I wouldn't want it to place a limit, but rather be a propensity for certain things- kinda like how some traits have certain perks if that makes sense. But certainly can understand not wanting it connected, too Yep! I would like musical instruments for all ages- ha playing the recorder in elementary comes to mind. lots of people want bands, but I imagine instruments also for formal occasions, festivals, school and so on- I guess I think about how much music irl is associate with Wonder how people would react getting junk cars but not functional ones? Very much agree with your last point! Truly people we say we have none... we def do, it's more that they don't often feel that well developed
@@SimmerErin I suspect that the majority of people who feel that TS4 activities are "less developed" didn't play with TS2's. I do think it would be fun if the TS2 competitions would happen again, but I doubt they'd work the way people would like them to work. They would work the way that the "chance" cards and Henford on Bagley "county fair" work (which seem to be pure random chance, rather than having outcomes you can change by being more skilled, better prepared, etc.)
I think what sims 4 needs is complete refresh of the packs, taking care of the cross pack compatibility and bugs. This refresh should be massive integrating new content in each pack that should have been there in the first place. I know they won't do this because of money, but maybe the could charge for the refresh a price similar to the kits for the ones who already have the packs and making them better it could potentialy grow sales of the hole pack for the ones that don't have it 🤷♀️
ideally, I agree it is disheartening that a guru said not super long ago that full refreshes were off the table :/ now I suppose on a technicality that leaves rooms for tweaks and marginal improvements
@@SimmerErin yeah I know, maybe the spa day refresh didn't grow that much the sales of the pack. Thats why I think if they could charge an extra for the refresh they will be more willing to do them, from an economic perspective... 😓
Definitely need bug fixes above all else. I am hopeful that the next road map comes in the next week so we dont gave to speculate. Hobbies seems repetitive; every pack gives us a hobby or activity that can be done either individually or as a group but we would need a system to tie it in. A lot of the hobbies also double as a side hustle because it can be sold on selling tables or plopsy. We need another EP like Growing Together that introduces new systems to the game instead of just adding more random hobbies that we play for once in and awhile.
they did say more bug fixes are one the way- my only hope right now is to make some progress... and not go too backwards with new packs. I agree, we are def due for a road map soon. I am still thinking bands, but I said that last summer
I would like more hobbies or things for kids. Playing in the yard. Building paper planes. More sports. Allowing children to in fact draw on the easel. But I can also imagine ballet being fun. complete with soccer for kids. I like the idea of tinkering on cars and glass blowing, pottery and similar. On the other hand I'm really not sure if the sims can handle a new system. I had a family with 6 people running lately and the game started to become really glitchy. The time my sims spend just "standing there before starting their queued thing" was getting really anoying. I'm not sure if a system that things even more about how the thign a sim is going to be is integrateed with other stuff will help. The likes and dislikes offer at least a small variety of forming a sim. Its not very in deept, but its better than nothing.
Yeah, that's what I struggled thinking about. Ideally in most cases I'd like a filly fleshed system- but right now we do have a fair few systems I feel that haven't yet been properly optimized or integrated
I want a dance pack. It’s so silly to dress your vampires up for a ball and then….they jump around ridiculously. We need ballroom dance, swing dance and ballet
my theory is they put their money into the active school day... I would have preferred the opp.: keep it a rabbit hole but with more schooling options, and more robust clubs
Escape rooms... isn't that just a GrayStillPlays Sims 4 episode? Jokes aside, the born-in-the-80s millennial in me would love an arcade. Also, I would still love a more in-depth band pack than what we got with Sims 3, especially with more genre choices.
I'm a 90s millennial ha and do think arcades could be pretty fun- and hey I'd love if you could throw a birthday party at one. Add in some cheap pizza and I think of a Chuck E Cheese party or two I went to 😆
I can definitely see the appeal for more hobbies, while there's stuff to do right now it isn't exactly extensive for a game of it's age and type. Making them more integrated in TS4 will just cause more issues IMO, although it lessens their appeal if they're not. TS2 was designed for that integration so it works while TS4 has never seemed that way. Fixes should always take priority over more content (I'd argue bloat at this point) but we know from experience that won't happen. If they want to justify more content over fixes, then packs need to be released in an effectively flawless state and offer good value.
yeah.. I struggle with it, because as I was arguing I want things more integrated, the problem is we have lots of systems right now that would need TLC first/ so maybe in some ways I can also be expressing my hopes for a future game, too
Personally I wish for gaming theme pack. From adding hand helds, more consoles, vr headset and even arcade machines/pinball. Tho Cosplay I hope they expand on. Even add anime stuff to reflect people who loves anime. Just my hopeful thinking.
To play devil’s advocate here… perhaps the activity likes and dislikes that we already have could be considered Sims 4’s hobbies - in that it is added (somewhat) to the personality, not just a once-off activity for fun. Plus you can already make clubs with Get Together, and if you give your sim the geek trait you get interactions like discuss new tv show and debate favorite captain. So I’m not really sure what else I’d want out of hobbies, exactly… I guess just more actual group activities, but that’s always been a weakness in the game.
it could certainly be their version of doing so. It's a little bummer since I feel likes and dislikes don't really have the impact I would like (no pun intended) but I certainly see the argument saying it's functioning that way too
Hobbies is vague and yeah sepetete packs is good but if they forget integration. Complaint 2 if we don't get a big EP. 1 would be how dare we're getting more dlc. Like machinics, I have a entire GP in mind for that. Seeing the hobbies connected to jobs reminds me of a current IRL argument how people are blurring the line of hobbies and careers. The examples shows that we have hobbies but how dare we don't have a system to give hobbies meaningful . Wvich i don't feel like we need a system to make it meaningful to decide a Sim's hobby is cooking, but would be good to add competitions. But yeah the big argument will be how dare we get more dlc. Time to stop thst. Nothing but bug fixes.
There is so much that I would like to see added to Sims 4, however every time I think of a new pack I wonder how bad it will break this time. How many others feel the same? I think Sims 4 has room for a lot of content yet ... but only if they fix it. What I would like to see this time around Is 2 great patches, 2 major fixes, and a dine out refresh. 🤣🤣
they said more fixes are on the way. My hope is first for optimizing/ at least improving console, taking care of build crashes, major for rent bugs, and gardening
Oh I feel fairly confident that a bands pack will come- it was on the 2020 survey officially I personally would love to see music in many forms, beyond bands too and for all ages
I'm not buying for any of that, I know some don't use PC but Whatever the reasons, only bug fixing is going to get me to pay more in the future, the last time I was wishing to buy something was For Rent and thank God I didn't. The modding community is the only reason I'm still playing Sims 4, and as far as I know a Medieval expansion pack is never going ro have, -That's the only dlc I might still want to pay for. Also with all the new games coming out, I have a feeling that's only a question of time before I completely stop playing the Sims 4 (or any future Sims).
Honestly, I do still feel that concept would be done best as a spin off, for a few reasons.. however, I am feeling a spin off right now is unlikely due to rene already being in development
Hello Erin. So I would still like to see a bands pack weather game pack or exspansion pack. I also heard we MAY be getting fairies on another you tube channel. Or at leaste its either a maybe or a possibility at some point of this year or season. NOT sure If I believe it or NOT. But, IF we do get faires I also heard it could be in a game pack. Either way that would good because I have wanted to see fairies from sims 3 make a come back for some time now. N with all the hints that have been out, I have to,wonder If EA infact IS planning to give us all a fairies pack of some type. If it come in a game as it has been and is being hinted, id still be fine with that too. But it would also be cool if the fairies do at leaste get to have the kinds of powers they have as they did in sims 3 or something of the SAME varyations. But I think it's still a wait and see at this point. Anways, ty for the post and as allways thankyou for all you do to keep us in the loop of things and take care. 👍✌💖
people are always predicting fairies- and lately I'm guessing they latched onto the new items in the kit. I don't think those are direct hints, but do I think we will get fairies? yeah, def think so that it's a strong possibility. There was a leaked survey for a fairies game pack concept several years ago and occults have mostly been in game packs (with some exceptions) so it is a reasonable guess I'd say :)
I'd actually want more jobs, not just hobbies. I have so may sims I create with a particular job in mind and then I go into job selection and can't find what I want.
I don't buy packs I feel wouldn't add to my game and I always advise watching review- or, if you're burnt out and don't enjoy, taking a break with other games ?
I think that is probably coming as its own pack. The 2020 official survey had it as a concept, and it's a concept that has been in sims before. It's also probably a pretty safe sure seller
we already have playing instruments, knitting, if it comes it would be a game pack, fleshing out those hobbies, and maybe restoring a car? maybe restoring a car would be added when the Cars Expansion Pack will be out.
yeah, cars could be a possibility. I'd argue more for an gp than an ep though I guess it depends on what they do with it if we get functioning cars, some lots in a few worlds would have some issues since they don't connect to roads, so I wonder how that would be addressed
A hobbies pack. Somehow, my channel being the hobby where I have over 2,000 videos, 203 Subscribers and over 78,500 total views. I wonder what this concept has to offer.
a hobby can certainly turn into something else- it's interesting to think about what people would consider a hobby, or what they want to see specifically
I just feel like this game has become that old tootsie roll commercial how many licks does it take to get... how many packs does it take to flesh out one tiny fraction of gameplay? I'm kind of over it all at this point. It will come with 2-3 new hobbies that will be buggy just because obviously testing has gone out the window and not fully fleshed out and still somehow need yet another pack to make it feel finished. Wanted different hobbies? Oh well you'll have to wait for 3 more hobby packs to be released to get the one you want because We're the Sims we milk it! Unless it's a full-on amusement park pack with no to little rabbit holes I'll pass on this as well. IF I have to deal with bugs at this point it's go big or go home! There's no way we'd get musical instruments, cars, dance, ceramics in one pack. Anyone who believes this at this point I have a very large bridge for sale :) I honestly don't even know if at this point should my most wanted pack of hotels/resorts came out I'd buy it. I've pretty much lost all hope on content being good and unexpected and working as intended at this point. I assume for that theme they'd just use a lot of (broken) For Rent functionality and assets and a bunch of other recolors with a new world to try and gloss over all of that. It's just become sad at this point. I miss feeling excited about my favorite game. I really, really want to hope but it's fleeting at this point. I give credit to all of you who still can hold out hope things will get better and I truly hope you're right!
I enjoy brainstorming. I do think improvements can be made, but also understand the content fatigue (keep in mind I also am very choosey about what I buy too). I also like to look at it like: what could a sims or simulation do= even looking beyond sims 4. What would I want, from a conceptual basis, for such a game, even if not in sims 4? Hope that makes sense For me, I'm mostly keen on the future of simulation games- while wanting sims 4 to improve, I'm more invested in brainstorming and conceptualizing what best experiences could look like.
@@SimmerErin I love that and I also love daydreaming and conceptualizing and maybe that is why I am having such bad Sims 4 burnout right now! It just pains me because I know this game could be so much better! But this was a good reminder that it could be future/other games as well :) And just so you know this was in no way a knock at you! I love your videos and I really love when you put forth a bunch of ideas and do deep dives. Regardless, I will always be a supporter of you! This is where I get most of my Sims news now and even some info on the other simulation games coming out. I don't expect any game to be perfect and not without some issues/bugs but I guess with Sims 4 it just truly frustrates me we are 10 years on and it is still doesn't feel like a full concept. How could Sims 2 have been so ahead of its time? Thanks for all that you do Erin. It is appreciated.
@@angeladela4769 you're good, I didn't take it that way- you weren't rude to me, and it's valid to express how you're feeling. I may do a video kinda explaining my feelings and perspective too- as I'm in a weird place of enjoying following different developments and being curious, but also feeling the game itself is not meeting a lot of standards I'd personally want as a player- so an interesting juxtaposition 😆. Appreciate your reply!
I don't think you could fit in depth hobbies in a stuff pack. And expansion pack I could agree with EDIT: I misunderstood what you were saying. Yeah, I get it, it is frustarting. There are a couple packs in sims 4 where I can see how breaking up content- say game packs for supernaturals- did sometimes provide pros; however, I do think there are many instances where things are broken up way too much
I’m done with this game. The bugs, the favoritism towards computer/ pc players, the cookie cutter responses, the neglect towards us console gamers. I’m just done. My game has been unplayable since the last patch & EA has done anything, so I refuse to support them. The next packs could be free (not likely) & I wouldn’t care. Tired of trying to use a faulty product.
I'm really sorry for your terrible experiences. I do agree the way they have handled console players has been really depressing. And the thing that makes it more so, is, so far, upcoming new life simulation games not one has yet confirmed console
better how so? (Not disagreeing: people have different definitions of what they mean and what they are looking for) I think sims 4 is better in several categories, but not the core of the sims themselves- that is, their personality, behaviors, overall autonomy and deeper system integration.
I would like to see hobbies pack including things for children. I too had a toy bake oven. I would love to see that back and ballet 🩰. Card making and more ☺️
It'd be cool to have cards for different occasions and design options- maybe even some that could stir up som drama and integrate w/ packs. I used to do ballet then jazz (terrible at both but so fun)
I love some of your ideas .. like pool tables, ballet, new instruments but I would love to see more playground stuff for all ages like merry go rounds, slides. Sims 2 had the best in that area. I also think we need more jobs. I really hope they do better this year bc my game is so boring there's no real game play. All there is to do is party. 🫣
@SimmerErin I was think more simple jobs like Biologist, fashion Model, Caretaker ( part of a nursing job) I know there's alot of mods but I play on console.
@@soldiers4god894 I don't use mods, myself and I always think it's best to have in game content options for many reasons. All fair ideas. I actually am surprised they went with freelance photography instead of modeling for Moschino (granted, modeling would have taken a bit more to do)
Yes i agree, i feel like there are so many miss opportunities in the game. I wish they would give us wht we are asking for but it seems like they don't care.
This is just a FUN brainstorming video- even for future games.. not dismissing bugs etc, as per usual I do a variety of content.
We need ballet, sculpture (that isn’t tied to handiness), ceramics, Better workout stuff like how you see in some mods, some type of electronics or tech stuff, etc
all those could be cool. Before I saw the bands concept teased, I remember thinking up a music and dance pack concept
Would love more hobbies:
Ballet
Cars (fixer uppers)
Drums/Saxophone (more instruments in general)
Pottery
Oragami would be super cool and something I hadn't thought of
More gym equipment
cool ideas. Tbh I hadn't thought of origami until I started browsing hobbies lol. What kind of gym equipment?
bold of me, but multiple types and styles of dance could be cool
A stationary bike for sure! Dumbbells and a weight bench would be nice. A rowing machine. I love the yoga mat from the spa day update
I hate how in ts4, most hobbies or activities are directly tied to an object, and usually a large, jarring object that stands out (ex: all kids activities, chess TABLE, game TABLE, etc.)
yeah def mostly agree here. there's so much more they could do for kids
AND PLEASE no more art/ activity tables
😆
@@fleetwoodmak777 Yeah, I believe the only children’s slide in game has to be attached to the giant tree house which I can’t even fit in most of my yards. And instead of voidcritters battle station being a handheld game its larger than the actual children in game and needs a whole room to itself!!! I put it in an arcade because it just makes no sense in a house. What is with all the oversized objects? I actually like the games and puzzels for family play but I wish they were something you could put on a regular table like the dining table and then put away instead of needing their own dedicated tables.
@@TheDawnofVanlife my thoughts exactly!
@@westanimesims Ugh seriously! I’m still a bit bitter about the occults being split up.
would be down for any of those honestly if done well
cosplay would be a fresh idea in the sims franchise too- granted I have no details on how I'd want it implemented.
@@SimmerErin Yeah for sure! I imagine LARPing as Sims dressing up in medieval attire and acting out sword fights, theater, etc. Cosplay could be a fun upgrade to comic con-inspired festival that came with City Living.
I’d love skateboarding where you could make your own skate park and stuff- it would go great with bands
OOOH that has potential
All I want is bands 🤞
I think you'll at very least get that- 2020 official survey and past sims games strongly says so, and imho it's been lightly hinted many times
And to that point, it would be very refreshing to see a larger range of instruments
architect is interesting- by career do you mean an active one?
I want ballet, pottery, archery, a pool table, stuff like that. I also want gambling, I want more pets like birds and reptiles, tarantulas which people consider keeping them a hobby. A D&D game is such a good idea.
D&D would be really marketable on their end too so I feel like it'd be a win win.
I'd love more small pets- though I do anticipate community backlash
I NEED concert and marching bands 😭😭😭
See that's why the idea of a bands pack I'd want expanded beyond just touring bands- I'd like to see music and activities for different events and ages
I miss ballet from Freetime. I'm not opposed to adding a soccer goal for better soccer play. Fixing up cars was also a favorite, but would not be useful in TS4 since cars aren't a thing. Pottery was great too.
oh I'd love to see some ballet and tbh it'd be cool to have more forms of dance.. for practice, recitals even and even full events.
I have a conservatory near me and they have a whole room of bonsai trees ha
Mechanics/ fixer uppers could be a huge seller.. but I wonder what the reaction may be if they had that and no functional cars, you know? that would be my concern
yeah, I really want the game to continue to improve not get worse.
I feel that even if they try to integrate between packs, they are often shallow and even sometimes packs that could have been integrated are overlooked (not surprising considering we have dozens of packs to go through)
Game systems and mechanics in the Sims 4 is rather flawed to say the least, and it has been proven time and time again that it could not live up to the desired depth of gameplay.
Dog shows could be really fun, especially ones like agility, though I don't know how well that would work for a dedicated hobby pack.
oh yeah the martial arts skill would be great to add
see.. I feel like we could have done a lot more w/ cats and dogs- especially given it was just cats & dogs! I miss some features from 2 and 3. course I also wish they hadn't dropped pack refreshes
I still think children need more hobbies and activities. I usually complete most skills and aspirations before my child age up playing in the normal life span.
absolutely. don't want to see more hobbies added and children excluded
And it would be a one or 2 person object.
yeah! that'd be likely easier to implement than a lot of say broader sports, and still a great addition
And yes, at least in theory, there should be a way to integrate it with likes and dislikes or build off that general infrastructure
like a lot of your ideas... and especially agree w the emphasis of having options for kids too. I don't want kids to get left out
wish they will add hobbies like martial arts (taekwondo, karate, etc.), Ballet, skateboarding, rollerskate on the street
all of those have potential really and especially so if allowed for all ages (well prob not toddlers lol)
Activities that are missing.
Cars, who deserve their own pack. Slides. Water slides. Water rides. Roller coasters. Trampoline. Baby swings. Ball room dancing. Swing dancing. Water sports. Water aerobics for elders. Power walking not tied to one neighborhood. Ballet. Tap dancing. Jump rope. Skateboarding. Mounting bikes. Golf. Dodge ball. Volleyball. T ball or soft ball. Jax. Rock skipping. Bumper cars. Racing in any form at all. Marco polo. Hide n seek. Tag. Squirt guns. Lazer tag. Arcade games. GT doesn't count. Tennis. Ski diving. Better sailing. Pool tables. Again, talent contest. Magic trics. Juggling. Acrobatics. Pottery. Sculpture. Sewing. Hair waxing. Hair salons. First aid. Tattooing. Shoe or hat making. Painting murals from reference. Home movies. Kiddie rides like seesaw etc. And basket weaving. That's all I can think of for now without being too specific. Lol
great list!! I often see people say they don't think there is anything left to be added to sims 4... this just shows how much there is... functionally,. I can understand concerns. But conceptually there's a lot more that could be done.
For me I honestly want more rabbit hole clubs. Like scouts and drama club. I don't enjoy playing actively with a bunch of sims so I'd rather just send some of my kids out to do a hobby on their own just like the scouts works. It's so annoying we only have the two hobby/after school activities for kids. You can do so much with the get together club system that you could bascially just make a club and have any activity as a hobby. So I's rather get rabbit holes like ballet, football, ceramics class etc etc and then maybe one or two active ones with maybe more instruments or something similar.
I'd be cool with a mix; some rabbit holes, some active. I do think that rabbit holes can offer some value ( I know people gave mixed opinions)
Thanks!
tis true. personalities are actually the number one reason- above anything else- I don't connect to sims 4 as I do sims 2 and sims 3
I agree that we need an “freetime” hobbies pack in the sims 4. Depend how stable the game it is in. And If it is done well, I want hobbies like glassmaking/glass blowing, pottery/sculpting, martial arts, ballet, sculpture, pottery, & etc.
all could be good additions. Remember when we voted on stuff pack themes? glass blowing was under the arts and crafts concept.
What I always found a bit annoying was how so many things were grouped into one skill. with a hobby pack I would separate the different hobbies into like sub-skills, and instead of liking "fitness" you could like basketball or running or something more realistic like that
it also annoyed me that there was no "literature" skill where you could make your sims like reading. so I would add that too.
hobbies can be connected to skills or help you develop skills, but of course they are different things. And you do bring up a pretty interesting point: considering the skills we have, what would be best to add? is there an interest in adding additional skills?
More hobbies would be nice. 🤔
what would you like to see
I wouldn't mind a little ballet (with a progression) and bands... oh and diving as a hobby. Not sure how all those sports would work.
Diving kinda already exist in Island Living its just not a very in-depth experience (#mosthobbiesinsims4)
@@TheDawnofVanlife correct but it's with a platform? if that's what it is. I'm looking more for what was in the mobile app, a diving board and then different styles of dives.
@@TheDawnofVanlife the hashtag 😆
I honestly think they should add some kind of group feature for characters that like certain hobbies to do a hang out kind of thing like a book club for those who like to read or an art club kind of thing would be like once or twice a week or something like that and a little flavor to your everyday gameplay.
we can form clubs, but I do think we could use more hobbies to do so for sure and for different ages
Freetime is in my top three in TS2. I love the talents and enthusiasm.
EX: dancing is lessons, but also potential for a career or side gig, and useful for events and interactions w. others
Gardening is a mess and has been - I def don't think anything gardening related should be added right now unless they substantial fix the most prominent bugs
YES, see I don't merely want performance bands, but to expand musical options for all ages and even have it for different events too
Idk if we will ever get more small pets... but I do kinda miss having more options
Miss sculpting in the Sims 3
It's funny we just got a party kit... cause in so many ways I feel a lot more could be/ could have been tapped into for birthdays, especially kids' birthdays
ice sculptures could be cool, no pun intended.
We for sure need more interactions. More things to do. More animations.
anything specific you'd like to see?
I would definitely like to see more hobbies/activities added to the Sims 4. When we were voting for nifty knitting, I actually wanted it to be a game pack so they could've added a lot of the other activities suggested. I'd like to see pottery making, fashion design/fashion shows, surfing, billiard tables, tennis, golf, etc. I doubt if the game, in its current status, could handle it. Still, it is a nice thought.
yeah.. exactly. I think that stuff pack is one of the better ones, but I think they could have expanded at least even to an arts etc game pack
I can't believe soapmaking was mentioned. That's a little in-depth for this game. Even crafting with melt & pour might be a little much.
I'm just having fun and throwing out ideas. We do have candle making already so I personally don't find it far fetched. It's certainly not my top wish, just a lot of ideas to toss out
I cant even with all the packs or DLC. This games has gotten tooooooooooooooooooooo expensive. And half of them are sh*t and don't work
which packs do you feel were or are more successful, and can you pinpoint a time when you feel quality most changed?
i really would love sculpting... yknow then being able to have those objects . in your house, selling them in a store etc etc. they got a tiny sprinkle from crystal creations but we need more. let me make things raw from scratch for zero dollars from what i find and make profit on it lol
yeah could be cool, and you could expand that idea pretty far for what one could make as they progress in skill level.
Nor do I think it's what is coming next
But I think it's good to know that it's a huge community = especially with it going free to enter- so safe to say, we all have different priorities.
I also heard of a problem with people's animals disappearing after they enter them
Bands would be the next My Wedding or Dine Out. Why? Because it would require multiple people to act together in a coordinated way, and we know how that works in Sims 4. (It doesn't.)
I have no doubts that a bands pack has potential to be very messy yes
@@SimmerErin same.
Hobbies would be nice. Sims definitely needs more depth to it and integration.
any hobbies you'd like to see in particular
A lot of these activities are broken, or have problems. The word you used was depth. Do remember when took the sims on dates at an eatery? We would have had dinner and romanced thru a series of questions. It was a lot more satisfying gameplay. In Sim 4 it's a Russian roulette whether gameplay functions and hobbies are dull in the way they make them, like flower arrangement there is only one flower pattern with different colors. No satisfaction in it. So, although I would like have more hobbies my retrospective is - I cringe at what they will make. Thanks, as always for bring as this News, Erin.
do you mean in sims 2 and the table interactions?
@@SimmerErin I believe it is. Sorry my semi-short hand writing style - lol. But I was heading out to work and I had to quickly do my pigeon English impression as quickly as as I could. The latter I am the more "fowl" it gets - lol. Later 😅
We need more hobbies and more places to go to.
what kind of hobbies would you most like to see
@@SimmerErin Bands. Ballet. Pottery.
Even more workout equipment would be nice (stationary bikes, free weights).
yeah.. oddly even though we have a fitness stuff pack, we don't have all that much fitness equipment something I didn't even think about much
I'm grateful that "hobbies" aren't "integrated" with personalities. And those can change over time (which a personality rarely does.)
There are certainly activities (that could be called hobbies) that I wouldn't mind seeing in TS4.
But certainly can understand not wanting it connected, too
Yep! I would like musical instruments for all ages- ha playing the recorder in elementary comes to mind. lots of people want bands, but I imagine instruments also for formal occasions, festivals, school and so on- I guess I think about how much music irl is associate with
Wonder how people would react getting junk cars but not functional ones?
I know they won't do this because of money, but maybe the could charge for the refresh a price similar to the kits for the ones who already have the packs and making them better it could potentialy grow sales of the hole pack for the ones that don't have it 🤷♀️
ideally, I agree
it is disheartening that a guru said not super long ago that full refreshes were off the table :/ now I suppose on a technicality that leaves rooms for tweaks and marginal improvements
@@SimmerErin yeah I know, maybe the spa day refresh didn't grow that much the sales of the pack. Thats why I think if they could charge an extra for the refresh they will be more willing to do them, from an economic perspective... 😓
Tennis, golf, pool tables, ballet
Yes, every hobby mentioned in this vid, should be compiled into a game pack. EA, make it happen
I really don’t understand the lifestyles.. they don’t even do anything 🤷🏻♀️ and my sims never seem to unlock any of tbem
yeah.. I feel like the concept was never fleshed out? they don't feel like they have an impact
Sooo a blast of the past pack? Where they focus on things people loved in old games?
they could, or they could also add hobbies that have never been in the sims before- either would be fine with me if done well
Definitely need bug fixes above all else.
We need ballroom dance, swing dance and ballet
yesss I would love that!
Are they spamming packs lately because they want to generate additional funds for Sims 5
or as a test bed for it... ?
what do you mean by spamming?
beta test in what way?
the next game will be on a different engine
Idk why they didn’t flesh out the clubs/hobbies added to HSY! They could’ve made soccer and cheerleading and whatnot so in-depth!
my theory is they put their money into the active school day... I would have preferred the opp.: keep it a rabbit hole but with more schooling options, and more robust clubs
@@SimmerErin which is sad considering they likely piggybacked the whole thing off of the get to work programming anyways…
Add in some cheap pizza and I think of a Chuck E Cheese party or two I went to 😆
Would love to have more hobbies in Sims 4, Sims 2 had a couple interesting ones!
any ones in particular?
I can definitely see the appeal for more hobbies, while there's stuff to do right now it isn't exactly extensive for a game of it's age and type. Making them more integrated in TS4 will just cause more issues IMO, although it lessens their appeal if they're not. TS2 was designed for that integration so it works while TS4 has never seemed that way.
Fixes should always take priority over more content (I'd argue bloat at this point) but we know from experience that won't happen. If they want to justify more content over fixes, then packs need to be released in an effectively flawless state and offer good value.
yeah.. I struggle with it, because as I was arguing I want things more integrated, the problem is we have lots of systems right now that would need TLC first/
so maybe in some ways I can also be expressing my hopes for a future game, too
@@SimmerErin Indeed.
I hope you are doing as well as you can be under your current circumstances. My best wishes go out to you. 🙂
Personally I wish for gaming theme pack. From adding hand helds, more consoles, vr headset and even arcade machines/pinball. Tho Cosplay I hope they expand on. Even add anime stuff to reflect people who loves anime. Just my hopeful thinking.
that's a pretty cool theme. you could even add in some tabletop D&D- I'd think all of that would feel fresh and probably sell well too
I sqeauled when you said color guard hehe
OOOH did you do color guard
I'd like to hear what you think.
What do you think about sims 4 hobbies/ activities now, and what would you like to see
There is so much that I would like to see added to Sims 4, however every time I think of a new pack I wonder how bad it will break this time. How many others feel the same? I think Sims 4 has room for a lot of content yet ... but only if they fix it. What I would like to see this time around Is 2 great patches, 2 major fixes, and a dine out refresh. 🤣🤣
they said more fixes are on the way. My hope is first for optimizing/ at least improving console, taking care of build crashes, major for rent bugs, and gardening
first I missread it as hobbits pack. Bands and other group activitis might be fun.
ha oh my you actually reminded me of a video I meant to make with the hobbits comment
I want a music career pack...
Oh I feel fairly confident that a bands pack will come- it was on the 2020 survey officially
I personally would love to see music in many forms, beyond bands too and for all ages
I accept any and all hobbies.
But honestly, I just want a pack with burglars.
I think burglars could be a free update- like how they added firefighters as a free update. course they tend to do so alongside a pack release
awsome video friend
thank you; wishing the best for you and your sister
@@SimmerErin yqw friend was just with her shes doing good
Hello Erin. So I would still like to see a bands pack weather game pack or exspansion pack. I also heard we MAY be getting fairies on another you tube channel. Or at leaste its either a maybe or a
possibility at some point of this year or season.
Anways, ty for the post and as
allways thankyou for all you do to keep us in the loop of things and take care. 👍✌💖
people are always predicting fairies- and lately I'm guessing they latched onto the new items in the kit.
I have so may sims I create with a particular job in mind and then I go into job selection and can't find what I want.
would love to hear your ideas: what kind of jobs would you like to see
Can’t wait for another broken pack! 😂
I don't buy packs I feel wouldn't add to my game and I always advise watching review- or, if you're burnt out and don't enjoy, taking a break with other games ?
I want bands and a singing career
I think that is probably coming as its own pack. The 2020 official survey had it as a concept, and it's a concept that has been in sims before. It's also probably a pretty safe sure seller
we already have playing instruments, knitting, if it comes it would be a game pack, fleshing out those hobbies, and maybe restoring a car? maybe restoring a car would be added when the Cars Expansion Pack will be out.
yeah, cars could be a possibility. I'd argue more for an gp than an ep though I guess it depends on what they do with it
if we get functioning cars, some lots in a few worlds would have some issues since they don't connect to roads, so I wonder how that would be addressed
@@SimmerErin Like some that are located in islands, maybe vehicles could be the pack, like boats, snowmobiles, and motorcycles.
Boring, really boring, in theory, would be fun, but knowing The Sims team, this shit would be a snooze fest.
is there anything they could do that you wouldn't feel was a snooze fest, or any examples of packs you found fun?
Hope that makes sense
For me, I'm mostly keen on the future of simulation games- while wanting sims 4 to improve, I'm more invested in brainstorming and conceptualizing what best experiences could look like.
Appreciate your reply!
for what selling all hobbies at once if you can sell every single one as a stuff pack? $$$$$ kaching
I don't think you could fit in depth hobbies in a stuff pack. And expansion pack I could agree with EDIT: I misunderstood what you were saying. Yeah, I get it, it is frustarting. There are a couple packs in sims 4 where I can see how breaking up content- say game packs for supernaturals- did sometimes provide pros; however, I do think there are many instances where things are broken up way too much
@@SimmerErin my sims really need more hobby objects because I enjoy crafting and developing skills for them
I’m done with this game.
@@SimmerErin not a one. I was looking for a reason to upgrade, now I know not to
sims 2 and 3 are such better games than sims 4. sims 4 just had more appealing graphics tbh
better how so?
(Not disagreeing: people have different definitions of what they mean and what they are looking for)
I think sims 4 is better in several categories, but not the core of the sims themselves- that is, their personality, behaviors, overall autonomy and deeper system integration.
Why don't they just stop adding already just make a new game! They can still add stuff to charge us. I'm just sick of this same game give me new
Project rene is still a while away, so they will likely continue adding until they are ready to announce it
I would like to see hobbies pack including things for children.
oooh I agree!!! 100 percent want more for kids to do outside in general
what kind of jobs
@SimmerErin I was think more simple jobs like Biologist, fashion Model, Caretaker ( part of a nursing job) I know there's alot of mods but I play on console.
@@soldiers4god894 I don't use mods, myself and I always think it's best to have in game content options for many reasons. All fair ideas. I actually am surprised they went with freelance photography instead of modeling for Moschino (granted, modeling would have taken a bit more to do)
Yes i agree, i feel like there are so many miss opportunities in the game. I wish they would give us wht we are asking for but it seems like they don't care.
I need sewing in TheSims4! 🪡🧶
