My guitar teacher had Joe Stump as a teacher at berklee. He said that “Mr Stumps fingers looked like they were floating” because of how good and fast he is
such an underated guitar player. I follow him since i am a teenager. one of the best not only because of speed and technique but i actually love his music!
I used to think so. Until one day I realized I can easily tell it's Joe and not Yngwie at all, while listening to mixed playlists involving both. Sure, Yngwie must have inspired Joe big time. But I'd say Joe managed to distinguish his style from a very dominant legend's. Not an expert myself at all, yet to me Joe sounds less complicated and more melodic with better defined switches between parts. Which I enjoy a lot. Thank you for all the good sounds you created, sir Stump@@johncash5940
AndroidGameplays4Every1 I’m not saying he hasn’t, my point is it’s 2020,he’s probably in his 50s, and Yngwie did everything he’s trying to do now in his 20s! That’s what I mean about timing, doesn’t mean he’s not great, he just was first, now 36 years later, it’s not as impressive because like I said, it’s been done before, the world has changed since 1984
Man, I so wish I could get even one lesson from him. I just heard of him actually and went through his entire discography in one day. I can't get enough!!!
@@RotterStudios You for sure can if you are a Berklee student. I'm not certain otherwise. I would email him and find out. I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you!
Joe is an amazing player. Very inspiring. His book on picking, called Chop Shop, is easily the best book on the subject. It's like my Bible for picking. His new book on sweep picking is just as good. Hope he does a tab book for one of his albums some day.
Holy fucking shit. Imagine setting up a camera, shredding 5+ minutes straight just casually, like this fucking guy. Oh my fucking god you are good, JOE. GOALS ASF.
Golden Buzzer! oh wait... it's not the Voice. But if it was The Guitar... it'd be a golden buzzer moment! hahah That was really satisfying to watch. The leg cross was so casual it was badass.
I love that Joe is a metalhead despite being a virtuoso neoclassical shredder. Its the whole song including the riffs, the main solos, and the in between solo breaks. Absolutely great stuff. Great example of Joe's overall capabilities in this one.
Joe you're definitely one of the underappreciated all time greats! Love all your albums, but I gotta give you a special thanks for your sweep picking book - the best, bar none. Been working through it for a year and I just got to the excerpt for this song and I had to give you a shoutout.
P.S. Everyone who says Joe's a Yngwie clone doesn't know what they're talking about. Yngwie's (obviously) amazing, but (to my ears anyway) Joe has a much more "rock and roll" rhythmic sensibility than Yngwie does. Can definitely hear the Blackmore/Uli Jon Roth influence in all your playing.
Joe!! We need the tabs for the new album, where do we buy them?? Fantastic album, you "Stump"ed it!!! Neo-Classical Melodic Progressive Metal Shred RULZ!!!
@@joestump1443 Could you please play Ritchie Blackmore's neoclassical shred fest from the album Supersonic Shred Machine? A killer album. One of my favs of all time
Can't believe I haven't comes across you yet, only found you because of a Max Ostro cover of 'out for blood' Great work mate, definitely going to look into your book(s)
Joe's tone is the best ... The first time I heard 'that sound' was from Dmitry Varshavskiy of Russian band "Чёрный Кофе" (Black Coffee). I was given the LP album "Переступи порог" back in 1988 and now I've discovered Joe Stump who I really like.
What a great f* job Joe ! From 03:12 to 03:22 is absolute outstanding and I'm listening these 10 seconds ever and ever again. Try to play it by my own but does not work ;-) Do you have Tabs for this solo Joe ?

He's definitely the better Malmsteen because a more precise playing.
After watching this I feel like either I should never pick up a guitar again, or never put it down.
Just found this dude been binge watching his stuff. Dude literally shreds🤘🤘
Me too. Shred rules.
That melody is pure fire.
The best I've ever heard at this style. Simply astounding!!
Absolutely fantastic, thanks Joe.
Thanks aton I really appreciate it
Why isn't this guy more famous than what he is!!?
Joe Stump is f#£king incredible!!!!
Ricky Jones timing is everything, it’s been done before, so, even though he’s great, no one cares who comes in 2nd place in the race. 😳
