Unbelievable! I lost count of how many times I said "holy shit" while watching that. Some of the greatest electric guitar playing I've ever seen, bar none. You shred among the all-time greats like Malmsteen, MacAlpine, Moore, Batio, Loomis, Cooley, Becker, Di Meola, you name it man.
Hey Joseph, thanks aton for the nice comments I really appreciate it, glad you like the stuff, I`ll be posting more tracks from my new record The Dark Lord Rises
The song writing on this album is excellent. Unlike certain other "Neo-Classical Shredders", you actually know how to write a ROCK SONG. Keep it up and I'll keep listening /buying
I'll say it too,all the guys who Yngwie inspired seem to be more musical and writing better music these days! With better tones! I will always love Yngwie,he started this madness, and his first 4 albums still touch my heart, but you and a few other guys are have taken this style to a good tasteful place! Cheers!
I have been listening to this song since the very first date of upload, I was having some personal issues getting divorced after 15 years with I what I thought she was gonna my life forever, but I said that when the time comes, I will have to post and declare that every single night until now I listened and somehow the melodies of the album starting with this song, helped me achieve some mental relief and helped to sleep, I can say that every single note and string is attached to my brain I just love the fact that the melody, the phrygian scales and some dissonant runs did some therapy while I was passing through a hard moment, and I want to thank you Joe Stump for such spectacular talent, melody and neoclassical heart you put into this album, even though it was not as hard as other cases, I always fall asleep thinking that when I get free on my soul and mind and heart, I will let Joe Stump and thank him for this , Im free and so happy and I still listen all your melodies again, thank you for being such a human and being with us sharing your majestic talent,
Hostile Takeover?!?! Yeah, I’d say! This cat took over as King of Neo-Classical a very, Very long time ago! He keeps getting better and better giving us one great album after the next while his contemporaries keep disappointing us year after year. These big Record companies need to get behind this amazing man and his music. ESP Guitars! You guys need to build the Joe Stump model and mass produce it, I’m not the only guitarist that wants two of them. Hal Leonard, Cherry Lane, Rittor Music, Doremi Music Publishing, Watanabe Music Publishing Japan! You guys need to get off your ass and make this man a deal. Joe’s music is exactly what we want to listen to and play. Keep on Rockin Joe! Looking forward to the new solo album as well as new Alcatrazz and Tower of Babel.

This is absolutely sick-ass composition and execution! I love the whole tone / diminished thing escalating this bad-ass solo to a purely Hostile Takeover! Phenomenal will power - Dude!!!
Great playing and great song, Joe! I love how during the solo, you switch back and forth between the neck and bridge pickups. You give each lick or run a different "feel," so combined with the difference in tone between the two pickups, it makes it sound like two guitarists in a head-cutting duel. ^_^
Joe, I've been using Gibson's and Jackson's for years, and I just recently picked up three Stratocaster s. Put Seymour Duncan's in one, left one stock, and I'm undecided on the third. What kind of pickups are you using here, they sound vicious. By the way, your playing is stunning. I could literally listen to you all day and all night. You're an inspiration.I'm a lefty, and I play righty guitars upside down, strings upside down, so my playing is a bit off center. I play mostly classically influenced metal. Listening to you is a real learning experience. You're a sledgehammer of a player.✌️
I really hope you still teach at Berklee when I try to go there! If you do I hope I get you as a teacher! You play so amazing man the best I have ever seen! Keep rocking bro!
so happy that i found out about your playing, few weeks ago did order your album...impressive in every way. as more jazz educated player that adore some older hard rock/ neo stuff and players like Schenker and Uli ( yes i know jazz and heavy not obvious combination maybe) i have to say this is even better, had chance to read some interview and liked the fact how open you talk about musical influences ...Anyhow i was like ''wow this dude is amazing player and above all honest+ super cool and normal''. Must admit that your playing and music are huge inspiration for me in last couple of months. Imho you are the best neo player i ever heard , hat down. If i may ask what kind of pick / plectrum do you use? Friendly regards from Europe
Been watching you shred strings for quite a while man i believe you and Shawn Lane are 2 of the most under rated guitarist of all times without a doubt! Your form is to perfect man! Hey Mark , not sure what you're talking about man , my tone in the studio on Evil Beasts on this track and on my last 3 solo records has been killer . If you think the classic combination of a strat thru a Marshall sounds like a buzz saw then maybe you need to get your hearing checked (first time I ever heard that one) . Also this video is just a live performance shot with a zoom camera played all in one take , so considering that (also just using my work room practice tone) the sound is quite good .
Given of all the great guitarists out there, today, no one composes and improvises with the unique breadth, depth and genius as yourself man.. I mean, Caprici DI Diablo is great, The Stand has some great solos, etc. etc., but its tough not the same level of craftsmanship as on your tunes such as Strat Sorcery, Beacon, Evil Beasts Below, The Witching Hour, Day of Doom, Prisoner of Time, Hostile Takeover, N The Master's House. And I do like the fact it helps me develop my own leads greatly, that your leads don't have hardly any low end, which allows me to mute them out without cutting into the bass or drums at all on riff station to try to play my own stuff over those great progressions, drums and basslines. MAYBE you shouldn't evolve your tone at all, I'll still love the hell out of it anyway. Beethoven would have mad respect for all your great work too man, even before he lost his hearing! You are the Best, Sincerely, Mark
The picking motion from the base of the thumb and index never ceases to fascinate me. And I realized after watching that I had the speed on the video set for 1.5X. Wow. I thought I was having an acid flashback or something. "HTF did he get soooo fast?!" Ba ha ha ha!
