    Great Video Connor. I use T-NEX and love it. I do your method exactly. The T-NEX will cause some temporary discoloring of my Bermuda grass, so I put down a small (Like 8 0z per 1000 sq foot) amount of 18-0-0 Greene Effect and some 0-0-2 MicroGreene in the sprayer as well. It (T-NEX) is a foliar product (as you mentioned) so it needs to be absorbed by the foliage for several hours to work. T-NEX really works well. I do use Blue Marker dye as well because it is irritating when I miss a strip and I have a "Mohawk Haircut" of tall grass that I missed. The Marker dye fades in the sun and with water; goes away in about 2-3 days.

    A PGR like Primo (same thing) also has the added benefit of increased root and lateral growth. It is also a major stress reliever in turf when applied PRIOR to high heat and humidity. I would avoid spraying it during severe heat in cool season grass but leading up to and before the heat it works fabulous. On my putting green I apply every 200 GDD at a 50 degree base temp. Sounds confusing but it's very simple really. My rate is 1/8 ounce per thousand so I've had the same bottle of Primo for about 5 years now.

    I am a bit spoiled to have access to an exmark sprayer spreader that I use for work. I fill it with 20 gallons of water and add 6 oz’s of plant growth regulator and keep running over my 10,000 square foot of turf until my tank is empty. With a super diluted solution any error in application is virtually eliminated.

    Hi Conner, just curious about something. As you said, this product is mainly intended for non-homeowners, so I wonder if their application rate chart isn't precise enough for your lawn conditions? In other words, if you look at the suggested application rates, there's a strong link between rate and grass height. The app rate listed for your grass type may be intended for more typical (longer) cut height. Have you tried reducing the rate and checking the longevity of the growth retardation? As a little experiment last year, I used min and max recommended rates for my 1/2" hybrid bermuda and saw little increase in longevity with the max rate but significant discoloration of the grass (plus, more expense!).

    • @colinseaberg6275
      @colinseaberg6275 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using a growing degree day model has proven to be more effective than a calendar based model in regulating growth rate of turfgrasses. A good resource to look at is the "green keeper app" . It has loads of great information especially dealing with growing degree days and growth regulators.

    • @gregwatts9009
      @gregwatts9009 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colin Seaberg I guess my question is how do you know when to reapply is it at a certain GDD level? Which base temp do you use? I use my own spreadsheet for tracking it all but want to understand the cycles better before applying...

    • @colinseaberg6275
      @colinseaberg6275 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gregwatts9009 Generally for cool season turfgrasses a degree model of 200 - 230 degree days is used based on several recent studies. In each of those studies a base temperature of 0 deg Celsius is used.

    • @colinseaberg6275
      @colinseaberg6275 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It generally is a good idea to add a colorant "spray indicator". It is very cheap and will allow the applicator to know where they have applied chemicals so to significantly cut down on excessive over lap. This is very important when applying growth regulators and herbicides as they have the most potential to injury turf if applied to heavy.

    Group,
    In the video Connor stated that the label does not stipulate in how much water volume the T-nex should be applied. It actually does under the "Mixing Directions" section. "Add Quali-Pro®T-Nex®to a sufficient amount of water (ex., 0.5 to 4.0 gallons of water per 1000sq ft)" . This means that after you calibrate your equipment and find out how much water you are applying per thousand square feet of turf, it should fall into this range. If it does than you are fine. If if does not then the product may not work effectively and you should change something in your spraying procedure to become compliant to the label. If you are too heavy than maybe walk a little faster.. you also may have to change out your nozzle.

    M = 1000 not k. E,C,M is E =1, C = 100, M = 1000 sorry about being asinine. :) Standard Commerical Abbreviations.

    Looks like I'll be mowing before you this year lol. I don't think you'll be mowing by end of month either. Going to take a while to unfreeze the ground. Sadly, I hear plant growth regulators are getting banned in Europe for God only knows what reason.

    Most of us are simple folks out here who have little inclination to sit in our garage, suffering a maths class, working 7 different calculations to come up with "1 gallon of water per 1000 sq ft."
    Please keep it as simple as possible for us Job Corps. rejects that just want a nice looking lawn, but have no desire to obsess over it.

    • @lawnrebel
      @lawnrebel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is true but not all sprayers put out 1 gallon per 1000 sq ft. The most important thing is that you need to just put the right amount of product down in a given area no matter how much water you are using.

      It is best to apply a growth regulator after you have mowed the lawn a few times first in a new growing season. Most manufacturers recommend waiting until after your third regularly scheduled mowing of the season before applying a growth regulator. This ensures that the plant is growing normally and will metabolize and incorporate the active ingredient from the product(s) more consistently.
