I Hope you know how positively you have impacted my life! Watching your videos calm me down when I’m upset, while educating me on things I’m interested in!
I've only recently discovered your videos and it was like opening a treasure trove! I adore your dreamy "old world" styling and the poetic way you present the information. Your work is top notch quality. So thankful I stumbled on your channel!
Obrigada! So gorgeous those colors!!! You can always paint the chainlink black and change its finials for a different look. Your garden loves you back!! You have very happy plants!
We enjoy the information and the style with which you present it so much Siloe. We have 2 young boys who were left in silent thought at the end of this episode. Thank you for encouraging us all to embrace a deeper more profound connection. Haha and please understand that for those 2 to be moved to still silence so early in the day is a significant achievement!!!
You are a sweet sweet young man. Such beauty you find in nature! I always have had gardens! Now I’m older and disabled so I love watching your gardening. Thank you!
A garden must be appreciated through time too. There isn't a single point in time where you can sit in a garden and see all of the beauty it holds. There's always something dormant, always something waiting to take advantage of *next* week when no one else is being beautiful in that time. So to take it all in, you have to spend more than one visit.
What a great video at the perfect time of year. Just planting a new flower garden. Very inspiring. Thanks. "If your garden looks like everyone's garden, it's not yours." Sounds perfect for an etsy shop!!!!
Yes! This is how I've started. My front garden is where the edible growing is at. I started pretty small (and unsucessfully) 4 years ago with tomatos. This year I have x7 small raised beds of edibles with a perimeter of bee friendly flowering plants. I'm working with the no dig method to avoid disturbing the integrity of the earth, I have learnt a lot already this year and have kept logs and photos so I can keep improving year on year.
I agree with your thinking. You have to think outside the box a lot with gardening. I love trying new plants and making my garden my own. It's my favorite creative outlet. In the spring, summer, and fall I am out side. I love your stuff. I watch and rewatch your shows throughout the winter. My garden is my home.❤️👩🏻🌾
I appreciate your videos so much - not just for the great information and advice, but also the beautiful cinematography and hearing your philosophies about gardening. The last minutes of this video touched me more than any poetry, because you absolutely nailed how I feel about my garden. Thanks for your channel, and greetings from Germany! :)
Thank you! I'm happy to hear that you resonated with the ending. I think more people need to transform their surroundings into a pleasant natural spaces.
@suburban homestead: I think so too, but I find many (if not most) people don't have that connection to nature and simple living anymore, which is a shame. From people I know from the city where I used to live, I often get the question "is gardening worth it?", and what they invariably mean is, is it financially worth it. That's a question I never ask myself or keep a tally of because gardening gives me more than money could ever buy, and I can't imagine doing anything else ever again. They seem to have a hard time understanding that or relating to why I'd invest so much time and energy into something that, in their eyes, is only "worthwhile" if it's financially lucrative.
Very true, my friend. I want to awaken in people the idea that gardening provides way more than food. Unfortunately we tend to structure our lives and activities only around financially feasible ones. While that is important, it shouldn't be the deciding factor.
With this video you have changed my mind....let me explain. Last year I planted my first garden. It was small but beautiful and I could hardly believe how much this little garden help our food budget. This winter I have spent almost all my time planning and planting for a new garden that would overtake our back yard. I told my husband that eventually I would like to have all of our property plated out in edible plants and flowers. This week, in fact, I told him....I'm not sure I want to plant out the front yard....maybe we should leave it as grass. Then I saw this video...I really want to plant out the front yard...It is my south facing yard....and I want to do it NOW! All of your videos are inspiring but this one is Magical!
I'm so glad to hear that. I hope you will love building your own lush oasis. It means a lot to hear that the videos I produce have a real world impact. Thanks for sharing your experience
Ok...so...how am I tearing up at the end of this video (happy tears)? This is the first video I’ve ever watched from you. This is my dream for my garden. And I even wanted to watch the ad. Ok, safe to say, I’m hooked already. And did you paint that garden painting?! Stunning work.
Yesterday morning i found your channel ....and I'm waiting....your videos and i love how you turning a place to a beautiful place to live to breathe . Love watching your videos... And soon I will finish watching all you videos...keep showing us your beautiful works....love from India 🇮🇳❤️❤️
Siloe, I have been subscribed since close to the beginning, but only within the last year or so have you blossomed into an amazing channel. Yes, you are a gardening channel, but it's honestly so much more. I feel your artistry is center stage, surrounding your gardening in such a beautiful way. You are a true inspiration and I thank you for not only your hard work, but the beauty you bring to the world.
I so needed this video today! we are getting a pretty bad snow storm today in northern mn and it feels as if spring will never come..... just seeing your beautiful garden is wonderful ♡ And has me dreaming of being in the dirt, and making this place my abode ♡
Thank you Siloe, what beautiful visions presented in a magical space. Sharing a combination of ideas, knowledge, and action are truly the gifts gained. Thank you again.
One of my favorite videos yet!! I enjoyed very much seeing the progress of your garden, I find that the most rewarding part in life is not the destination but the road to it, and imagining how you want something to be and achieving it, is beautiful! I planted flowers on the perimeter and interior of my garden and black beans together with tomatoes and cucumbers, they look very happy! *Thank you for the inspiration and brilliant content!* :)
OMG your Chanel is awesome! I too live in Maryland and dabbled in gardening over the years and had almost given up but finding your Chanel has given me new life, thank you so much. Your videos are top quality
I have just come across your channel and it's everything I've recently been looking for - inspiration, motivation, art, home, and magic. Thankyou so much, can't wait to watch your other videos.
" Even a bit wild". I really like that, that gives me hope, because my lawn really looks a bit wild right now, just started growing mixed plants after moving in new place these 3 months. My nursery was so messy in the beginning. Did the no tilling, covering weed in the lawn with cardboard box sheets and dried leaves from the residential area trees (the local administration removes dead leaves regularly, thus free stuff with close to zero effort!)
This video makes me wonder when you will direct an indie movie like the secret life of gardens your videos are my guilty pleasure with a box of chocolate. So lovely and thought provoking. keep it up thanks for the food as always
Great content. I also appreciate that you told us there was an ad coming up. It made it less abrupt! Also your garden is very inspiring, I’ll try it myself this year. And Hi from Germany 👋
Your videos keep getting better and better somehow. Thank you for all of the hard work! I know you had to of spent an enormous amount of time just to make this one video. A+ quality....
Thanks friend. I wish I had a proper budget to produce these (there is so much more in my mind :-) But I'm glad that they are being enjoyed by people, serving as inspiration. That is all that matters.
Love love love your work in the gardening and your videos. I started buying fruit trees last year and everything was in ugly buckets and cut up 50 gallon containers. This year things are liking more organic, nowhere near yours but it's feeling more like me. Blueberry bushes, aronia, peach, apricot, cherry and apple trees (lot of dwarfs) and even though I have kids I still feel like a proud mama watching all this grow too. Worm hotel too...lol...can't forget my little wrigglers.
Hi Siloe, i just wait every Sunday, excitedly for your video upload, today's video was simply superb, loved the painting of your garden and btw you play the Sitar why am i not surprised !! Lol ☺
Thanks Suzanne. While I cannot fully promise to do videos every week I hope to continue providing them whenever I can. I have been trying to have a new one every sunday. As for the sitar, I'm still learning :-)
Hi Siloe, I just stumbled on your channel a few days ago and already watched quite a few videos! I loved your idea of showing how to grow a crop and then showing how to cook a recipe using what you harvested! Keep them coming!

Hello 👋🏽 I’m a new member to the the Suburban Homestead! I have been container gardening for about 3 years now ! I love watching these videos !!! Keep it up thank you !
Spraying neem oil on plants prevents pests as it is a natural pesticide . Mix it with water and spray on your plants directly . Works for me every time 😊😊
Inspirational video. Still waiting for the snow to melt in Minnesota but the house if filling with the plants that will be planted in the garden, hopefully, in 1½ months. Gostei!
I LOve to get stoned while hanging with sun in my garden. I have been working on it for the years now i live in the city so its a great getaway.I always let red clover grow between my long onions the bees cant get enough of them.I love when nature come in a fills in the blank spaces in summer and winter. i dont have to do a thing. Nature does it for me.i only had to water twice last year.It is so magical.haha I really enjoyed your videos and your garden ..
Pretty! Love your painting too! When I had space for a vege patch, I made a no dig garden and mixed up all the vegetables and flowers. That way I made a wee micro environment that looked after itself. I live in Australia and I put pvc piping, hidden, in the garden and the blue tongue lizards would hide there and eat the snails. Sort of a similar idea to yours. I couldn’t imagine sharing with ground hogs! But we do have feral rabbits, dear and kangaroos that eat gardens, depending on where you live. Enjoy your videos, thank you ❤️
I am always so inspired by your videos, thank you. I have been trying to figure out how to design our front yard since we moved in almost 2 years ago. I wanted to do everything at once, but have found that doing section by section is easier to manage as it takes time to plan, at least for me.
It isn't surprising that I instantly like your videos, professional to say the least too once I set upon the first one. This one takes the biscuit. Simply amazing and educational too. Your video skill is unquestionably and your planting skill and knowledge, wow what can I say? Keep it up and will be watching more videos for sure. Hope will start mine at some stage. I have a sizeable jungle in Borneo and hope to do some polyculture there one day, I can't wait for this project to start sooner. Your kind of knowledge skills would be handy there for sure.
Today is the first time I've seen a Suburban Homestead video "recommended for you" by TH-cam. It was a shock! What?! I missed one?? Ok... 4hours before the sun came up. Phew. PS although I let the ads run....im not really watching ;) I'm reading the comments and great suggestions from other viewers :)
Thanks Steph. I'm glad youtube is starting to show the video. It is very discouraging to spend days on a video only to see it sink into oblivion (While having the suspicion that many people would actually enjoy it and be inspired if only they knew it existed :-)
Then it would be too much work. Sometimes it’s good to be restrained . I have 2.5 acres and don’t know when to stop 😂. Nothing looks like yours as I just keep expanding and so nothings ever finished !
Beautiful. My garden, where _I_ have arrived, is not my garden, but is a crowded forest waiting to be cultivated into a thriving polyculture. Thanks for sharing, Siloé.
This channel reminds me so much of PBS, and that is one of the highest compliments I could ever give because I absolutely love PBS!
I clicked the like button before watching the video, and I'm not disappointed at all!!!
I Hope you know how positively you have impacted my life! Watching your videos calm me down when I’m upset, while educating me on things I’m interested in!
Seeing your home from before you moved in gave me so much hope.. the possibility that my yard could look like that ❤
I've only recently discovered your videos and it was like opening a treasure trove! I adore your dreamy "old world" styling and the poetic way you present the information. Your work is top notch quality. So thankful I stumbled on your channel!
I'm also glad you found the channel. Welcome.
Lo
Everything from the content to the filming, the editing, the music... is all incredible. Amazing work.
Thank you
Even the comercial break
a trick: watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Ahmed Mack Yea, have been watching on flixzone for since december myself :D
Amen to all your insights on gardening
you sir are living a dream, I`m still in my late teens but when I get older I wish to be like you
Obrigada! So gorgeous those colors!!! You can always paint the chainlink black and change its finials for a different look. Your garden loves you back!! You have very happy plants!

Wow, I'm always encouraged to know the new generation is finding this valuable. To me a child's attention is golden. We must inspire the young.
Mission accomplished. Thank you.
My daughter also was in silent thought! Wow.
You are a sweet sweet young man. Such beauty you find in nature! I always have had gardens! Now I’m older and disabled so I love watching your gardening. Thank you!
I'm happy to do some vicarious gardening for you.
A garden should be much more than a garden of chores.
Thank you for producing this - its a great message and I'm glad you've reminded people of it.
A garden must be appreciated through time too. There isn't a single point in time where you can sit in a garden and see all of the beauty it holds. There's always something dormant, always something waiting to take advantage of *next* week when no one else is being beautiful in that time. Yes it is like a movie, no one frame in time tells the whole story.
What a great video at the perfect time of year. Just planting a new flower garden. Very inspiring. Thanks. "If your garden looks like everyone's garden, it's not yours." Sounds perfect for an etsy shop!!!!
You think that should be a sign?
Well, I'd buy it!
i enjoyed this video so much.It got me inspired even emotional..the last seconds of it gave me the chills .thank you so much .
I'm happy to hear I spread a bit of garden joy for you this morning.
Me, too! 😭☺️💙
All of your videos, old and new, are great! Gardening teaches patience is so true.
You are so right , my rose garden started with a vision. I did it all by myself , it’s a special place of peace and happiness.
Happy gardening

Yes. We need to dream and then live accordingly.

Beautiful! Rudbeckia will never look boring again to me. Loved that sea of yellow.
They are great
A garden is really an expression of a person's creativity .I agree with you.
What a gorgeous poetic flower garden! I could spend hours there just soaking up all that beauty...
I always pray for patience...so God gave me a garden 🌻🌻🌻

I think that would be an interesting topic.

Thank you! Happy gardening

grew up in MD, the black eyed susan and crape myrtle really make it feel like a true Maryland garden :)
Gostei!
Valeu amigo! I don't know if I could stand the Minnesota winter :-)
AWESOME GARDEN.
I LOve to get stoned while hanging with sun in my garden. I´M SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW!!!!! *INSPIRATION!!!*
Great video as usual!!
That is great to hear!
I am always so inspired by your videos, thank you. I have been trying to figure out how to design our front yard since we moved in almost 2 years ago. I wanted to do everything at once, but have found that doing section by section is easier to manage as it takes time to plan, at least for me.
Thanks! Section by section is a great strategy.slow and steady wins
Cant wait to have my own little cottage home to garden and bake fresh pastries all day🌿🥺
Sounds great!
Appreciate your channel so much! Always informative, and you're artistry and detail in every video, is unique :)
This is garden movie trailer.. Love it..
It isn't surprising that I instantly like your videos, professional to say the least too once I set upon the first one. This one takes the biscuit. Simply amazing and educational too. Very lush and I am inspired.
:-)
You are absolutely right! You made so many valid points. I truly enjoy your videos 😊
Thank you!
Today is the first time I've seen a Suburban Homestead video "recommended for you" by TH-cam. It was a shock! What?! I missed one?? Ok... 4hours before the sun came up. Phew.
PS although I let the ads run....im not really watching ;) I'm reading the comments and great suggestions from other viewers
:)
Thanks Steph. I'm glad youtube is starting to show the video. It is very discouraging to spend days on a video only to see it sink into oblivion (While having the suspicion that many people would actually enjoy it and be inspired if only they knew it existed :-)
Beautiful video, Siloe - Always!
Thanks
This was beautiful!
Beautiful 😍!!!!
Your garden comes together beautifully! Thanks for the tips about having living fences to bring about a bit of order. Will endeavour to do that too.
If I had a bigger sun exposed area I would be using these techniques even more.
Then it would be too much work. Sometimes it’s good to be restrained . I have 2.5 acres and don’t know when to stop 😂. Nothing looks like yours as I just keep expanding and so nothings ever finished !
Your video editing skills are on another level
