Anyone else find his voice so soothing? I just found his videos and could just listen to him talk about tomatoes and flowers all morning.

I tried the zinnias alongside my tomatoes on a long narrow bed straight across my front lawn this summer and it brought me SUCH PLEASURE all summer long. Every day on the way in and out of work, I would take a short walk along the bed, pruning the tomatoes and appreciating the zinnia blossoms. Best 10 minutes of the morning and evening!

Beautiful! Thanks for the tip on planting the shorter Marigolds at the foot of the tomato plants, and zinnias in the middle. I will do that plus throw in nice tall cosmos for good measure. I mostly grow cherry tomatoes (and lots of hybrid varieties) to overcome only getting 3-4 hrs of direct sun in my garden, but I can't wait to see how it all looks with the flowers growing within. Thank you for the wonderful video!

Cosmos would look awesome with their wispy foliage. I wish you had more sun. (that should be a human right- a plot with sun exposure. :-)

I love all your shows I was so excited when you started making them again! I just bought some of your garden tags you should keep making them with different veggies and herbs on them so your viewers can collect them each month! It would be cool to have a tag for each plant in my garden while supporting your show! Thanks again keep up the good work I love to watch your shows over and over!

The most beautiful tomato garden. I've been binge watching your videos because they are the most beautiful concepts in gardening. I just love your aesthetics, gardens, philosophy, and concepts. I will be revisiting these videos regularly as I learn to garden beautifully. I'm not sure if it helps or not, but I let the ads play. I hit the like button and revisit your videos often.

Tomatoes! They're why we do all that work and preparation. You really know how to make people want fresh tomatoes from the garden. I grew Rainbow one year, hardly got any fruit as I was new, but what I did get was the caviar of tomatoes.
Glad you're back. Thought we'd lost you.

10:03 👍🏼. Very nice! And I agree on the taste of the tomatoes 100% - I grew up in the village with my grandma and ate the most delicious tomatoes ever grown. She was a tomato goddess! The seeds have been in the family for many decades and now my uncle continues the tradition. I’m trying here in Arizona, but gardening here is nothing like gardening in Bulgaria. A couple of weeks ago we had a very heavy rain pour and splashed soil all over the tomato plants and now the leaves are all wilting... Thank you for another fantastic video!!! Best, Sasha

I love watching your videos. I was so happy, today when I saw I had a brand new one to watch. You have a very enjoyable voice to listen to. Its almost like you are telling a story but then, you are, aren't you? It's the story of your gardening for this past year and what a beauty it is!!! Thank you so much for doing your videos. They are all wonderful. I love your tomato cages. You must have made them yourself. They are beautiful. I, too, choose not to eat tomatoes, except for in tomato sauce form because the ones in the store just cannot touch the wonderfulness that comes from my homegrown tomatoes. I have already started mine in the house. They have their first true leaves. My seedlings for this year are all heirloom as I agree with you and like them the best. I have Black Krim, Cherokee Purple, Brandywine and a couple of others. I will grow my zinnia and marigolds with them, this year. I usually put basil nearby, as well. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you, Happy Gardening from Patty in Merrimack, NH (close to Boston, Ma)

The harvest wasn't as big, but it got me through until I could get outside again. I always use zinnia's, marigolds, petunia' and nasturtiums around all of my vegetables plants. Thanks for sharing, T

Just found your video, this is what I call a true garden, natural, chemical free and all kinds of veggies and flowers grown together! I have my seedlings growing now indoors and plan to have tomatoes, herbs and wild flowers all together, question, can I plant my lavender by my tomatoes lavender doesn't like water. And what do you use for pests? I am thinking of baking soda. Ty so much for your beautiful videos

    • @suburbanhomestead
      @suburbanhomestead  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

lavender likes a dry sunny spot. Tomatoes need a regular amount of moisture, so they may not be the best neighbors. I usually don't do much about pests, but I heard that neem oil is one of the best organic sprays to control difficult pests

Hi, I just love your videos. Learning a great deal on what really matters in a beautiful garden. I have a very small patch of garden. Have planted Cherry tomatoes as they do not need much space. So this video all about tomatoes, is so interesting. Watch and learn, I say. I have my tomatoes in pots which are near a big patch of Lavender. NOW I WANT TO KNOW....companion planting, already have Marigolds. Tomatoes are happy next to Lavender, grow well and are full of fruit. What are your thoughts on the two near each other? Lavender with its scent seems to keep bad insects away and draws alot of bees.

I really enjoy your videos. It's very hot and humid here in northeast Texas. I'm growing 10 different types of tomatoes this year - most of them heirlooms. I'm growing Jubilee tomatoes just because they are so beautiful. To fight blight, I remove the lower leaves and plant flowers, radishes and carrots at their base to help fill in, make it beautiful and help shade the lower tomatoes. Fire ants and leaf-footed bugs are my biggest pests. Happy gardening.

Oh my I'm a sucker for tomatoes & zinnias!!! I have a terrible deer problem and have to grow behind an electric fence. I fear the deer will jump the fence when they see zinnias growing....tempting!!! Here in North Florida we were still having some nights in the 30s but I think we are turning the corner. I grow a lot of my own plants and now hardening them off. The weather sure has been challenging this season....I had my first hard freeze in February for the first time in a very long time. Beautifully shot video!

Thank you. Stay warm there in Florida (It's sad that I even have to say that )

Great Video! Thanks...Just FYI...In case you didn't know...At the end of the season, just before or right after the first frost, you can pick all of your green tomato's and place them in a cardboard box or even a paper bag, lined and covered with newspaper (paper is mainly if you have one or two that spoil). The tomato's will gradually ripen ( can speed up by placing a banana peel in with them).

Absolutely brilliant! I’m so happy to see your work again. I’ll surely be visiting your store to support your work. And I too will find room to throw a zinnia or two with my tomatoes. Thanks!

Great editing and quality... also great information! Your passion shines through. I definitely appreciate gardeners that make everything beautiful and artsy, as opposed to the untidy/ bags and buckets everywhere haha.

Yellow Brandywine is my absolute favorite- I once had someone at a campsite ask if I was adding grapefruit to a salad because the Brandywine I was cutting was so big and fragrant.

thanks. I do want to make more in-depth documentaries, but I would need the channel to grow more for it to be financially feasible.
