We gotta make sure Soto doesn't hold us up from making the other moves we need to make. Try to get him but we have a lot more to address this off season.
Jason, as much as I like Soto, the Yankees will be better off filling a lot of other holes and I am sure you will address who they should go after in the coming days. Look forward to the discussions....
Jason, Great channel. I figured Scott Boras would want 700 million for Soto. If I was Yankees brass, I would start with 650 million with incentives and opt outs. Yankees need to fill other holes too though, even though I would love Soto back!
As we move into free agency, the NYY may have two distinct options - #1 Sign Soto and have minimal $$ for other players like 2nd, 1B, and RP or #2 spend FA $$ on starting pitching & RP and trade NYY starters like Cortes & Schmidt or Gill for high quality position players to bolster offense. IMO NYY need depth.
I'd give Gil another season to gauge his status and potential upside as a starter given that this was his first full season as a starter up here at this level and we may have had unreasonable expectations for him simply out of necessity with the lack of other viable alternatives and he did well under the circumstances IMO.
I believe that Soto should be resigned along with some pitching . bye to gleyber , move Chisholm to 2nd , get another 3b , Hal needs to open up the checkbook
I really don’t think Trout goes anywhere. He has a NTC and from interviews, I don’t think he wants to leave. That said, I’m going to be furious if he ends up a Dodger.
It doesn't surprise me that Boras would seek to preemptively try and manipulate the framework for what's about to take place with Soto. By making comments like that or by hinting at what they may be looking for, it eliminates the possibility of having to waste time with an offer that's significantly lower than what he's after. Teams would be prepared to come in with an offer somewhere in this range as the starting point of the negotiations and the bidding war will gain momentum from there instead of starting at a range that isn't ideal and then wasting time trying to drive the offers increasingly higher. In a newspaper classified ad listing something for sale, this is the part where it would stipulate "serious inquiries only"
Does anybody find it alarming that the Dodgers scouting was basically.... "The Yankees are awful fundamentally, bad base runners with no threat on the base paths and the worst positioned outfield in the league" They were laughing before the series even started 🤦
@@161riverave.4Are you saying if the Mets sign Soto, they won't sign pitching? THAT makes no sense. I'm no payroll expert, but a team with close to $180M coming off the books, and the richest owner, can probably afford to buy hitting and pitching at the top of the market. I'm not saying Soto signs there, but the fact they need pitching won't prevent them from signing him.
Forget Soto, asking price to high. Yankees need to get busy early as Soto will be a late signing and Yankees need to fill holes. If Cole opts outlet him go after Corbin Burnes, 4 years younger than Cole. Sign Bellinger for 1b or cf. Sign willy adames for ss and move Volpe to 2b
yankees need to use the money they would of offered soto and get the pitchers (2 min),3B,1B…bring up dominguez to CF,move judge back to RF..move chisolm to 2B..soto will eat up to much salary cap and wont have enough to get what they really need
I agree with at least two pitchers but they still need soto and bring up Ben rice to play first and they'll have to trade for a second basemen kept chisolm at third he played well at third in the world series
Jason. As much as I want Soto back, there are so many other positions/pitchers we need. But if Boone comes back, doesn’t matter if we have depth, he won’t use them anyways. Proof of that was this postseason, the only managerial moves he made was with the bullpen. Plus you have to have Cole back.
They can also bring in a better 2nd baseman have better left fielder move Judge back RF and bring in better 1st baseman and have better bullpen and Cole pitching the whole season
If Soto leaves, make trades for Vlad Jr., Ryan Helsley, and Brendan Donovan. Also sign Cody Bellinger, Corbin Burnes, Nathan Eovaldi, and Tanner Scott. I think those moves would actually make us a much more well-rounded team.
@@161riverave.4 Yeah, it would hurt to lose Juan Soto, but the moves I mentioned would actually make us a MUCH more well-rounded team. One that we could actually win the World Series with too!
They had Soto this year and look what happened. They need a whole new management philosophy. But will never happen with the current ownership. They are only interested in making a profit for the company. Sad, sad, sad for us Yankees fans who have been told year in and year out the goal is the 28th W.S. crown. I am not buying this B.S. any longer. Yankee fan since 1956.
That's nonsense. The Yankees lost with Mariano Rivera too. Bernie. Jeter. Mantle. Ruth. Gehrig. Dimaggio. They lost with literally every player they ever had. Why would you drop a player who objectively was great, both all year and playoffs, because a few bad plays, none by him, cost the team a couple wins?
I wonder if Soto is going to suffer the same fate that every Scott Boris client faced last off-season and that he’ll hold out for a big ass contract and not sign until spring training is almost done
IF IM THE YANKS IM ADDRESSING THE OTHER AREAS IN THE MEANTIME. IF THEIR INTENTION IS TO SIGN SOTO REGARDLESS THAN ADDRESS THE AREAS BEFOREHAND IF NEED BE...

100%.....
For 700 million let Soto go and fix the team
Bregman bellinger and that Hoffman guy from Philly
Can’t fix much of the team if Soto is resigned for that much lol
Good work this year Jason, really enjoyed.
Enjoyed your work covering the 2024 Yankees season. Keep up the great work.
THANK YOU, SIR. WILL DO!
Jason, as much as I like Soto, the Yankees will be better off filling a lot of other holes and I am sure you will address who they should go after in the coming days. Look forward to the discussions....
I want Soto badly but not for the 700M unless he takes the same deferred deal and that is unlikely.
We need starting pitching badly
That's what I said they need arm badly it's the only thing that can quite a loud bat.

Thank you🎉

What about judge choke job in the postseason 🤷. Just keep glossing over that fact..its a trend

Never thought Yanks would get Soto back. Probably go to West Coast team or Mets. I agree with Nancy(post below). Let him go and fix rest of team.
WHY WOULD HE GO TO THE METS INSTEAD OF COMING BACK TO THE BRONX?
@@161riverave.4Because the Mets are more exciting and they a lot more money
Have a lot more money

Report already out the Soto camp is after $700. No surprise at all.
Susan Waldman says Yankees have too many players playing out of position. Judge shouldn't play CF, he should play in RF where he plays comfortable.

I READ THAT TOO!
Unfortunately, I don’t see Soto staying with the Yankees. I doubt Steinbrenner will be willing to match offers from other teams like the Mets
THE METS NEED PITCHING.MORE THAN HITTING. IF THEY LOSE ALONSO AND BRING IN SOTO AND STILL IGNORE PITCHING, THAT MAKES NO SENSE.

Ohtani AAV is $443, not $700m.
How about finally getting Cody bellinger
Soler is only a DH and he has bad defense thats why he got shipped and the Braves already have Ozuna.
I cant see Soto making more $ than judge...would have to adjust judge's deal...even a dollar less...
Bring soto back
