Verdugos offense sucked that would be easy to replace. I would also like to see what Peraza could do or trade him... This is ridiculous already with how he is treated.
Once upon a time I would have agreed but I honestly think they screwed him up by basically giving him the Andujar treatment. He does well in Scranton and then comes up here to be given no clearly defined role in addition to inconsistent playing time and it's a detriment to his performance each and every time he's in the Bronx. Unfortunately I think it's just time to trade him.
@robertcropley7714 they messed him up... i truly think they could have gotten offensive production out of him compared to volpe if given the volpe treatment.
@@antoniobrown1616 I'd agree with that, and the cruel irony is that it was just a short time ago that the front office was very clear about Dominguez/Spencer/Volpe and him being pretty much untouchable in terms of a trade, and now that represents his biggest value to the organization in all likelihood.
I want Soto for sure but I’m one of the few Yankees fans who believe without Soto is a blessing in disguise too because the bottom of our lineup is bad we need to balance it out and without Soto we can finally build a better bottom of the order and add depth to our pitching
I can't see this happening with Soto. I projected the payroll with Soto at 50M at 260-270M already. Popping for 12-15M for Kim seems impossible given the needs for the pen and the flexibility you'd want to for mid-season moves. If they don't get Soto, then we would really want Bregman as the most potent bat available. Here is my projected lineup: 1. Durbin 2B 2. Soto RF 3. Judge LF 4. Wells C 5. Stanton DH 6. Dominguez CF 7. Rumfield 1B 8. Volpe SS 9. Chisolm 3B Bench: Trevino, Cabrera, Berti, Rice
Moving Jazz to 2nd and Judge to RF makes sense defensively. Moving Judge to RF is smart as it is easier on his body than CF. I would disagree on one point - #1 priority is to improve the team, not signing Soto. NYY need to improve defense, RP, baserunning, hitting in the bottom half of the order. To do this NYY will need to look to trade players with high value to other teams to improve our Yankee team. Remember when NYY traded CF E. Maddox to Cin. Reds for P. O'Neil. NYY won that trade hands down.
I would like Durbin at second as we will have a faster and better D team That extra money can be used towards arms and first base. Lastly we neen to get Judge out of center. We got lucky this year in terms of Judge staying healthy. He is too big of a man to be a full-time CF... Judge to left or back to right and Martian in CF
If we do get Soto. And move jazz to second base. How about trading for Nolan Jones of the Colorado Rockies? Here's why? He has a great arm. He used to play third Base. 2 years ago he had the most assist from left field in the national League. So I only can imagine the kind of arm he has from third Base. He also hit .297 with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases and 22 doubles and less than 400 at bats. He shouldn't cost as much highend prospects
What i do not like about the Soto situation is how long it is going to be dragged through the mud til a final decision has been made. And it doesnt help when Scott Boras is involved with this.
If loose Soto do the following Rumfield Bird first Durban 2nd Jones lf Dominguez cf. Let see what the kids can do we talk about how good they are so let see
Obviously, it all depends on Soto. That being said we should have a deadline to sign him. So, if we sign him. Go after Christian Walker for first. We have to improve our overall defense. Then Durbin for second. The rest , LF, eg relievers , have to be worked on. Hard putting the pieces together without knowing about Soto.
The third base market is poor this off season so the Yankees could leave Jazz Chisholm with is strong throwing arm at third base and sign Willie Adames or Ha Seong Kim and possibly move Anthony Volpe to second base, which is his natural best defensive position according to mlb scouts. The Yankees were so bad defensively this season with so many players playing out of posttion so all eight everyday defensive postions shoud have the best defensive players at those positions, while at the same time making sure a circular nine man hitting lineup is also created. . .
There’s been chatter about Judge moving into the infield, but why not resign Soto and switch HIM to first, at least for a try out? He’s 25 going on 26 and has time to learn.
If Soto leaves, Jason, I think you’re right about moving Judge back to right. If that happens AND they want to add a bat like Santander or Teoscar Hernandez, Dominguez will be the CF with Jones in the wings if he proves not to be up to the job by the end of they year. With his surgery, Dominguez in CF with his arm still recovering from surgery reinforces the Jazz to 2B argument you’re making for relays as he can take many of Dominguez’ throws too.
Jason, Great channel. I would love Juan Soto back. And maybe Christian Walker or Ben Rice at first base. Plus, You Never know Soto may favor going to the Mets or Dodgers and nothing the Yankees could do then like with Yamamoto! Yankees NEED soto back for another World Series run! I would love a good starting pitcher also like Corbin Burnes or Jack Flaherty! Yankees must work on their fundamentals. I heard the Dodgers feared playing the Mets more than the Yankees! The Dodgers said the Mets were the better team! Plus, Moving Austin Wells to first base? Not an easy position. What makes people think he will be any good at it?! And I like Jazz at third base. He is pretty good with an Arod strong arm there!
Jazz to 2b is a no-brainer, with or without Soto. My preference is Soto to left, Judge to right, Dominguez center. I think Soto can play as well if not better in left than right. Range is not his defensive problem, it's playing the wall. The wall comes into play in rightfield more than anyplace else in MLB. I think Soto actually has above-average speed, but he doesn't generally get to run at full speed on defense because the right-field wall is looming. In Yankee Stadium the wall is much deeper, and left-center is among the deeper parks. Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait for Soto to be signed before making any significant FA signings. We don't know how much money will be available until he signs here or elsewhere. Soto isn't gonna make a quick choice. He's gonna stoke up a bidding war. There isn't much we can do about it. We just have to hope we end up with him. He may end up holding up free agency for the sport.
The Yanks really have 4 spots to address... 1 OF, 1st Base, 2nd or 3rd base (Jazz can only play one at a time) and the last thing in the bullpen. That last one is never ending. I would love to see them fill in a tanner Scott for closer and that will clean so much of it up. Soto fills the first part.. BUT will we wait and will he even sign? Not sure we want to wait too long. Not to mention the $$$ that he may command, you could fill an aweful lot of holes with. Yeah, he's a great young talent, but at the same time would you rather have him and 2 scrubs on the IF.. or Santander and 2 solid players on the IF? Tough call because he looked really good this year.
If NY keeps Soto and partly because he is young, why can’t HE play left? He’s done it before and if he’s gonna get 50 mill he needs to deliver pizza if it helps the team. JMHO
I never thought of the cutoff, But IMO Jazz has 3b gold glove potential and SOTO would be awful in LF to big of an area. Judge LF Dom CF Soto Right field. agreed Soto, we need to not wait like last off season.
Pretty Ridiculous We r The Yankees, 50-50 Chance????? He just played a Whole Season with Us and went to WS!! And Yanks Are RICH,,Jazz at 3B , Durbin at 2B and Walker signed for 1B and Soto Signed for 12 years at least, 👽 in CF Judge Should be more protected in LF
Alonzo is not what you need ie. Strikeout, slow and mediocre defense. Soto as good as he is his price tag will affect payroll negatively. Jazz 2b, cabrera/berti 3b & 1b platoon. Give Ben Rice a look or sign willie adamas for 3b and use the cabrera/berti platoon at 1b. Now you go after 1 starter and 2 or 3 relievers. Most importantly improve their baseball IQ and coaches need to be smarter.
Like so many Yankee infielders, Oswaldo Cabrera will probably never get a shot. For his sake, I hope they trade him so he can become a star for somebody else.
Juan Soto had a unique skill foreign to the rest of the Yankees lineup sans Aaron Judge. It's called "getting on base consistently". Tonight, he announced he will Not be returning to the Yankees.
Sotos Arm was Not Feeble what are we watching??? At Yankee Stadium his arm is Plus, Gleyber sucked at relays and most things besides ground balls right at him
What happened to Ole Boy YASIEL Puig used to play with the reds and dodgers bruh man had a Cannon for an arm and could hit for power at times I would ROTATE Juan Soto In left field and let Jason Dominguez play LF/DH ( Depending on (Pitching Matchup) If we could Acquire a STRONG Arm Right Fielder on the cheap and no Q Offer.
The market via free agency isn’t full of quality 3rd and 2nd basemen. Torres will most likely be the best available at 2nd and Bregman at 3rd. Jazz can play 3rd, Torres while not ideal or very popular can be resigned, which I don’t think will cost a fortune considering his down year and lazy reputation. If that happens the only infield position to address is first. If Torres isn’t brought back multiple spots on the infield need to be filled. I don’t think Ben Rice is ready to take over at first. Jason Dominguez in left, spot filled. What’s left is right field and the bullpen. In most cases relievers don’t eat up much payroll. There should be enough money to fill right field and first base. Of course m just an armchair GM, problems are always easy to solve when in the outside looking in. Maybe in the contract for Torres there is a clause saying he wears a shock collar. When he isn’t hustling a shock reminds him to run hard lol
the Juan Soto sweepstakes is turning into a circus it's better we address other needs instead of waiting on Soto. i don't want him back because i feel we can upgrade the holes better without him with more money to spend, and that's the goal it should be the goal period.
I want Soto, but they need to give him a deadline so we aren't picking up scraps to fill holes . Starting pitching is an absolute must.
How about just move Jazz to second full stop
Jazz can be a gold glove potential 3b
@ he can also flourish at second
If the Yankees sign Soto, then they may be starting young/inexpensive players at every infield position.
Not necessary. A LOT of money is coming off the payroll.
Verdugos offense sucked that would be easy to replace. I would also like to see what Peraza could do or trade him... This is ridiculous already with how he is treated.

The Soto decision needs to happen sooner than later.

Roberto Kelly was traded for O'neill
The Yankees traded Roberto Kelly for Paul O'Neil.
IMO, the Yankees need to sh*t or get off the pot with Dominquez. Make the kid the everyday left fielder and see what he does.
I would like Durbin at second as we will have a faster and better D team That extra money can be used towards arms and first base. Lastly we neen to get Judge out of center. Soto top priority and yes we need to fortify the infiels
Arenado would be a nice pickup via trade…
I agree with you on the IF alignment. Is Peraza a trade candidate at this time?
Jasson The Martian Dominguez looks much better defensively in center field.
Watch them being doogie back instead of soto

Chisolm should be the 2B. I know Durbin can play 3B if they wanted to go the cheap route and then sign or trade for a 1B.
Move Wells to first base, trade for a catcher with a strong arm.
Didn't Chasman indicate they had an infielder in the farm?
Obviously, it all depends on Soto. That being said we should have a deadline to sign him.

If they can't get Soto, spend on Walker-1B, Adamis-3B, Santander-LF, Scott-RP.........DFA DJ. Potential lineup: Adamis-3B, Judge-RF, Santander-LF, Stanton-DH, Walker-1B, Dominguez-CF, Chisholm-2B, Wells-C, Volpe-SS
Verdugo Offense Was TRASH, Dominguez Will Trump All Those Trash ABs he gave us
