You’re perfectly capturing the essence of these Tool songs with one guitar and voice. Only one other acoustic player / singer that I’ve seen be able to do this in last 25 years.
Yeah, who is the other? I can't call to mind another, aside from esjael, who does a few tool songs well.... but not quite as "all-encompassing" if you will, as what we have here. We have Ernesto Schnack, unrivaled on guitar in my opinion.... but no vocals.... then we have Max Neisl and Axe of Creation for the electric versions/lessons.... yet again no vocal.... so who is the other I am missing?
It's really impressive to play these TOOL songs acoustically; and you are not simply playing the guitar parts. It's giving the energy of a TOOL MTV unplugged show, which is never going to happen, so thank you for that. The fact that you can sing along... damn man.
Bro, amazing, truly. Read the description lol. There is no other Maynard, but I swear man, you come as close as I've ever heard to doing their songs justice on acoustic, vocally and musically . I'd be really interested in hearing you do a song with full production just for shits and giggles. I've said in another comment that I've had a long history with being a Tool fan, tattoos and all. I kind of gave up on music for a while in general, but they stick with me. Hearing your covers has been slowly bringing me back, so thank you for that and the time you put into these my friend. much love
I discovered Tool a year ago right here on TH-cam. I heard that a human being can enjoy this music for about a 20-40 year period. Your performances are a worthy piece of this treasure.
dude this is legendary! when you started singing ''clutch it like a corner stone'' with the guitar complementing your voice at 1:26 .... fuckin C H I L L ' S dude!!
I LOVED this cover. Those tongue clicks at the beginning really through me off (in a good way)! I thought you had clipped the actual song for a second. Don't let Maynard's screams stop you. Just "be humbled again". ;)
I watch your videos here and there. First of all your skills are as good as they come on TH-cam. From what I've seen there are others who have covered Tool with vocal+guitar but none with such a huge repertoire as you. That being said in your shoes I would be careful of ignoring the importance of production when it comes to making successful videos. Some of my thoughts: 1. Do not stress about editing your mistakes! Almost every well produced performance video on TH-cam has the audio editted, the exceptions are incredibly rare. The benefit to doing it is that your listener gets a better experience, nobody cares at all whether or not the take they see on the video is the one you actually played, first and foremost they care about listening to something that sounds great! 2. Embelish the audio where necessary! This is not just for mistakes, for example sometimes you want to double-track a segment or even an entire song to get a thicker sound from your guitar - don't be afraid to do it! A double tracked guitar sounds so much better and you clearly have the skills to pull it off! 3. Don't be authentic to a fault. Take the example of Maynards growl in this song - even Maynard doesn't sing the full duration live anymore! Either cut it short but make it powerful or overlay your vocals to extend it in post, again think of the experience for the listener at the end and what they care about, I don't care at all whether you sung it during your video take - I just want to have a great acoustic rendition of the Grudge to come back to time and time again! 4. Better video production! This one requires some money to be fair, but a lot can be done with a little as well. Tidy your room and yourself, have a more interesting camera angle, use better lighting and ultimately when affordable: a better camera! Most of your videos are either cropped weirdly, weird aspect ratio, low resolution, bad lighting. There is so much room for improvement here! 5. Pay a professional to setup your mixing pipeline! This is something you do once and it will pay dividends for every single thing you put out. Your talent is undeniable but the audio production (especialyl the reverb you use) is at times quite bad and this is so tragic because usually people with no skills use production to sound better but you have so much skill and your production is putting you back! Get your setup done once and you will sound amazing forever. You could learn to do this yourself but if this is not your cup of tea I strongly suggest getting someone who knows what they're doing. I wish you so much success, you have the talent to make this a career if you wish - but don't ignore the basic fundamentals of production! I hope my thoughts don't discourage you or come across as negative - I think that having a lot of room for improvement is a great thing!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write out these really good suggestions. I’m glad to hear I don’t have to stress quite so much re: fixing mistakes. I always worried that it was cheating or somehow lying… my final decision was on the side of it’s more important that it sounds good. I’ll have a good think about your constructive feedback re: sound and video. Though, I’m not very fussed about personally looking better, it’s just not me to care much about that. I don’t own the room I’m in, which limits what I can do with the background, but I could at least close the frikkin wardrobe door..! 😖 Thanks again!
Fantastically done! I don't normally comment. Independent creators deserve to have talent recognized though. I was looking for a cover of this song that could do respect to it as acoustic and you did.
Wow man... Everything about this is dope. Take your face out of your hands and hold your head up high. Nailing Adam’s funky time signatures and doing these vocals at the same time is incredible. Even the hand percussion was spot on. Bravo
Fuck yeah dude. I'm trying to learn to play this on guitar and I'm a far worse player and singer than you... but this is one of my favorite, if not my favorite song of all time and I think you absolutely crushed it.
I was testing out some studio monitors at guitar center and I happened to be playing the grudge on a pair of Yamaha hs-7’s when a dude named Steve walks up to me. We get to talking and he shows me a cover of the grudge he did years ago that was posted on his TH-cam account, esjael, and I was blown away. Crazy ass chance encounter. Anyways, going to see his band tharsis rise play tonight!
Your talent and musicality are impeccable, sir! I especially appreciate how well you capture the different energies throughout. Thank you for sharing, keep at it ✌️
Peter never ceases to amaze me. Well done, like always. I hope you can find the time and budget to increase your video and audio quality so everyone can enjoy this masterpiece and you get the attention you deserve. Much love.
My man is so busy mastering his craft that he hasn't found the time to hang those paintings.
I’m not giving those paintings the respect they deserve! You raise an excellent point 👍
Hardest Tool cover to do and he just takes it on and rips it ……class
- caring of paintings 0/10
- mastering this piece of art in acoustic alone 12/10
Thanks algorithm that got me here =)

Well..... We're waiting. But no seriously who do you put as the second? Cause I know a lot of acoustic covers but none are this involved

@@MattthegreatOneofOneesjael does this song with the best guitar. I always go back to that for a hit lol

This deserves so much more than 4,500 views. 🥺
I feel like you are poised to blow up. So glad I discovered your channel.
if i paid to go to a tool concert and you came out, i wouldn’t be mad.
Bravo !!!!

It’s my pleasure! 🤘🤘
That echoing click sound in the intro is so damn cool.
When I saw the title, I thought no way, is he going to go for it? And you went for it and killed it. Great work!!
What the actual f. Incredible

Dude both played and sang a Tool song at the same time? That’s gotta be an achievement of its own. What a great cover!
Thanks man! The dog in your profile pic is cute 🤩
Nailed it man, loved it!
What an achievement!!!! This was a challenge and you met it with precision and lots of feeling!
Simply wow. 🌀 😮

unbelievable voice, the only thing that make these songs better is a better backdrop and more ambient room
You're a beast
Mind blown 🤯🤯🤯 fucking killed it bud.
Woah!
You've outdone yourself again. Glad you decided to keep the yell in, even if there's no matching Maynard there. Just an awesome rendition overall.
Wow!!!
🔥🔥
Love to hear you play this in a stairwell.
Rad rad rad
nicely done, are you in drop D tuning?
Thanks! It is drop D, but then everything down another semitone.
❤
yeah this is sick, great fuckin job!
more plz. only note
Fucking badass bro 🤘🏼
fucking well done mate!
Dam, he does his homework
Do you have music in Spotify?😍😍
I want the tabs to these acoustic versions of tool songs so bad so I can lock myself in my room and not come out till I can play them
I’d pay for these
Tuning?
Drop D, and then all strings down another semitone
Damn.....
ANOTHER ONE
Awesome cover. But kinda hate the mic quality
I am speechless.
Nothing to say
Bump up the production quality on this video and this shit would be even better. Good fucking job friend.
Is there even a bigger Tool fan than you?
Hi Peter !!! Have you a Patreon ? 🙃🙃
Hi! Nah, I don't. I'm not really across how to make Patreon seem like good value to customers.
