@@p6x2 I guess he would probably regret....it must be me, I don't get the vintage thing, I guess it's like old cars, their cool and all but a uncomfortable ride and full of problems.
Yes, hadn't seen this gig before-Robben always puts a smile on my face! He is just such a master...The band is cookin'. Of course Robben sounds superb on anything he plays, sometimes I like to listen to him playing his old Fender Signature model with the Blue Line or a 335. I also heard him on a Strat once and woah, that was something else. But he kills on the Tele for sure!
Many years ago I was mostly into rock, but had a colleague and friend who had been playing jazz. He taught me a lot, and brought me to some jazz concerts, among them a local big band that gigged every monday evening. On one occasion I asked "what if someone played the same solo two nights in a row?". Sort of baffeld, my friend answered "they'd think he was boring!". This is one of the things that makes jazz and blues interesting to listen to. Theres even a sequence here, in the first song, where I believe Robben is taking the band with surprise with some impromptu harmonies.
Real home cooked music. The cure in a crazy world ❤️ Btw, the PRS sounded really good, but that Tele… ohhh boy… And hats completely off for that very very swinging band.
Robben thanks so- so -so much for uploading!!!! And God bless TH-cam and whoever done the video and editing - quality is so perfect and done professionally. I'm in heaven). Seriously, it's really really really good!
I feel the same, the entire time I'm watching and listening I'm saying those same things. Such a pleasure to have top quality audio and video together. So often one or the other is lacking, not here though.🙏
@@CanuckFinn I think Robben is mixed too high on a lot of the organ solos. His comping shouldn't be louder than the organ solo, but it is on some songs. That's on the mixing tech. Otherwise the sound is great.
I think so too. I just listened to the recording with the PRS and it didn’t sound as alive. That said, I imagine his ole trusty tele is just a lot more comfortable and he feels more at home on it. He is s master no mater what he plays. So we’ll see if he plays his PRS more and dials in his sound on it more. All good
To me most PRS guitars are missing some part of the bandwidth, somewhere in the mid frequency range. That makes them a bit different, but we are all used to the full sound of classic Fender and Gibson models. Robben recently uses less overdrive. I'm not sure this is the best idea, I find his recent work a bit too "sterile" for a lack of a better word. I also think his rhythm playing didn't improve over the years. Of course he is still very unique, but I would rather listen to Mystic Mile or Supernatural than to his current work. I think his last great album was "A Day in Nashville". Perhaps another problem is a lack of a creative lineup. Robben chooses great musicians, but to make a great album you need to allow other people to contribute something "fresh". I might be critical, but I'm certainly a huge fan of Robben.
@@lukaszplucinski6874 I share your observations regarding PRS. Never tried one that I could bond with. Any yes, maybe a bit to critical. Not many players with such a long history stays as fresh and vibrating as Robben :-) Not to forget, his great singing and song writing…
Holgar's B3 makes this all the more special, drummer Jussi has beautiful touch. A perfect frame for our beloved Robben's expressions. I wish them all good health & happiness as they add to ours!

I watched/listened to "Bird Nest" with this band on the previous show. Now this version. OMG that Tele sounds so delicious and 3D in those clean Fender amps. Its heaven. No comparison. Robben has become the TeleMaster. Much more range, subtlety... I "hear the wood." Perfect. Maybe I'm just imagining it, but RF seems "more free" here than with the black guitar. For me it's night and day.
So very good to see and hear you playing a full show. Damn what a tight ensemble especially considering you had just one rehearsal together. Quite outstanding group of players and Robben sounds as good as ever to my ears. Peace, love and grace to you all. Thanks 🙏
Robbens cool. That bass player rules. Thats TONE massive fat honking tone. Jazz is not dead it just smells funny. As far as clean tones, nobody was better than Jerry Garcia in his first Ten years of shredding clean. Except maybe Larry Carlton.especially above the 12 th fret...
I'm 60 and forgive me I'm not Robin Ford fluent I must look into this plus more technicalities. Always been aware of him I guess it is is that he has mellowed, he doesn't drive so hard now and perhaps show off / show up. You know what I'm kind of saying here?
Such respect for capturing what I love about live music the most - unity, pure joy and the spontaneity of being in the moment with each other. It just pops off the screen! It’s obvious these musicians are supremely talented but whomever filmed and edited this is also truly great at what they do. Bravo!
there's no fucking way 🤣🤣this recording and mixing is way too fucking clean and spotless 🤣🤣I refuse to believe this is possible, we all know that concert recordings suck 🤣🤣my brain is skeptical 🤣🤣🤘🤘🙏🙏thanks for sharing (fucking awesome)
This is an auditorium. Purpose built and a good one too . Notice when he took a bow and thanked the audience. No microphone. When they were clapping for an oncore ..no surplus sound Good stuff here
What a killer band! And that's how you kick off a concert proper, with a sizzling version of Herbie's "Actual Proof"! Amazing! And Robben, man what can you say about this guy! Still delivering the goods!
I love how the peanut gallery loves to weigh in on the PRS vs Tele situation -and complain about reverb- without considering that the room is completely different. A great guitarist like Robben can make pretty much anything work wherever, but different rooms do different things to the sound. Personally, I'd love to have either a 60s tele or one of those PRSs. Either way, I'd be better off than where I am! Honestly, though, I should just follow Zappa's advice...
Just a tad heavy on the verb, but the Tele sounds great - still miss the Dumble (but who wouldn’t!). Great to great Robben killin it as always, his rhythm playing is on a another level.
It is a bit verb'y. I'm associating it with surf but there's nothing surf about this. Ok suppose without it though one could go bonkers. You have to have had been there with things like that. A bit of a monster this way.
Always impressive! Love Robin. Was it just me or is there ZERO bass and kick in the mix? I know it's a jazz club, but damn.....there's no thump here....kinda kills the groove within the ass-end acting as an anchor
Bass is there alright and killing it,about the kick it disappears in the heavy load parts but comes back at less dynamic stuff.it has a natural tone to it .also don't forget you are not listening to heavy rock or metal .in the blues everything's comes more naturally less triggered compressed.
One of the most underrated players ever. A supreme musician.
Only underrated by those who don't know any better
Easily the greatest blues/jazz/rock/fusion guitarist to ever play.
Robben Ford playing a vintage Telecaster through Fender amps. There is no substitute! Fantastic band. Fantastic tone.
Vintage frets? 21 frets? Really?
Only it was far to loud and completely drowning everything else out, even in the rhythm parts.
@@hanskung3278 Most likely equipped with 6105; 21 frets is not impairing anything.

Jazz school. The master of augmented / diminished scales. Even on Blues numbers, he still keep it more interesting.

nice and relaxed concert - I love the Fender amp tone!!! Is the reverb from the spring tank only - or is some more digital reverb added?
I’m guessing the smaller amp is set with some reverb and the larger one is dry. That’s what I feel like I’m hearing.
Why would he want reverb on one amp and not on both, what is the difference in the sound.

Twin reverb on the right. Looks like a Vibrolux reverb on the left but can’t be sure.
