Can please do a video session on “Contemporary Casteism” in India. It’s beyond me that many educated individuals still adhere to archaic and heinous caste in marriage etc ( though caste was abolished in 1950’s in India). Why do educated Indians still give their kids “ Caste Surname” or keep their Caste name even in 21st century? How can Kerala and India become free from Caste.

  • @saneone4453

    What book(s) changed my life?
We all must have seen/heard so many ans to that Q with lists of many books that they think you should read. Many of these are fairly predictable, being “Great Literature”, or conversely “How To…”. I am sure they are worthwhile, but not that they'd be life-changing..?!
I'll be more personal. The book that most changed my life was my first Alphabet Book. It had a picture per page, illustrating the word that started with the letter one was learning. The last page was Z for Zebra. So I learned to READDD.! And life has never bedn the same ever. Reading has been one of the most amazing, transforming things along with a job tht took me places. Well read n well travelled -- an unbeatable combo.
So The Alphabet Book - thts whats been life changing for me. No other.. Books that others write..life's that others live, don't change mine necessarily. How can it too...
And reading is very SUBJECTIVE..and in so I'd refuse to make any recommendations. As to the 5 you bravely put out, save Simone's treatise all else are in my possession. Thousands of books await a permanent home ( that's been located ) I'm donating all ! Cheers Dhanya !

It's always a great book list if Richard Dawkins' is in there :-) . Great to see influencers like you get serious works of world's emminent authors out in front of your audience. Thank you ! As an aside, I didn't see any fictions in this list - to me the best self help books are some of the best in the world literature. Those are probes into our inner abstract world, like the non-fictions are to the physical world. Hope there will be such a list soon. Dhanyaji I am a follower that would be the right way to express myself... I would like to tell you that you are absolutely honest person unlike the other media people... You are sincere to the guests whoever approached you... It is truly difficult to handle people who come from different walks of life especially celebrities who might be cooperative, boasting, rude... But you are phenomenal, using your skill set by asking and listening to whatever they say and reciprocate it in a positive manner.... People like you are the real necessity who can spread happiness and hope. Best wishes for all your ventures. Last but important I will read the book you have referred and hope even I could inculcate some goodness like you... With lots of love and respect 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I always enjoy listening to you Dhanya. U indeed have explained all the books so well and the best part that made me stuck to the video, is your smile and ur emotions attached to each book, u narrated them so well. I was thinking of picking up a book myself as it's been long that I have read anything. And I like non fiction. Thank you so much! I am confused which one should I pick to start with. Want to read all 6 of them. To stat with I may go with the 5th one.
I am going with your recommendations since i have seen you evolved and I love the person you have turned into. Though, I Don't know much about you, have hardly interacted via social media, but I remember the girl in the newsroom of mumbai and I see the girl taking interviews. I see a sense of maturity, calmness in you. U come across as a woman of substance to me!
All the best for your life ahead! Thank you for this video. It really helped me pick my next book. Take Care! 😊💐

Very nicely and effortlessly presented! I'm not much of a non fiction reader but have Sapiens and Bryson's books on my shelf. I'm just waiting for the books to call me someday. I would also like to know your favourite fiction books. Is a video on that in progress? Once again, thanks for this beautifully review and summary of the books

Dear Dhanya, We all have our book lists but the real fun is knowing about others' book lists. so when your video landed up on my computer, I had to take a peek because of the other Happiness Project that you do. Having seen your list and not having read any of them despite knowing their beautiful contents, I believe you have bundled all your beliefs in one list. As a person looking at your list, I think they are all pointing to you as a person. And what is that? Well you are a person who loves to know where you came from and what you are doing while also love to lay your path ahead. And in these three stages, you would love not to do the cruel things that has been done by your ancestors, disallow perpetration of what wrong is going on and the path ahead has to be a world of beauty without the harsh beliefs. And that is exactly why you do a beautiful show like "The Happiness Project". And you know what? Your list is indicative about the wonderful person you are and it is not the other way around. Having said that, I think you are walking the right path. Thanks for the list and I think I will read at least three out of the six.

Thanks for the passionate descriptions. an avid reader of good recommendations. I shall surely go through these. A surprising thing was that we as Alumni of our school Carmel in Port Blair, Andaman had organised a Run for the school students on our Alumni Day in August and just based on titles and short description on the back of the outer cover the number 1 book in your recommendations that is Sapiens was given away as 1st prize for both girls and boys. Thanks a lot.
I couldn't follow what you said at the end about the line by Douglas Adams. Could you please repeat it in writing.

Dhanya, Books have inspired me a lot.I take cues from books-the vocabulary et al. What changed my life : reflecting on my journey thru life, meeting people of character, ethics, humility, compassion & charm, certain attributes & yet they are unassuming-it is this quality that has fascinated me.
