Thanks glad you liked it. Its not the log profile its the lack of information due to it being a small action camera and trying to manipulate it. Like trying to edit a 12mp JPEG compared to a 50mp RAW image. To give you an idea I shot a RAW video the other day with a proper camera and yes I could use a log profile and do wonders with it but 5 secs of footage was 1.5GB!
Cheers mate. Glad you liked it. I like the video suggestion. There are so many places. Might have to convince my wife to let me take a year off to just go around Australia diving them all to get up to date footage. :)
@@seanpe80 Brooo do it. and I'm sure Ozzie reefs are regarded as some of the best... can't wait to get there. btw I literally bought everything to get out there within these two weeks, GP13, Flip Filters with Wide Angle lens AOI, Goby Tripod, Alu. Tray, Dual Kraken video lights, extra batteries for everything, Kraken Snoot... so excited to get out there. just missing my bouyancy arms.. but got my eye on a pair... your niche market of compact/action cameras is a good one, looking forward to future videos :)
Thanks mate. I really appreciate the comments. I do it for fun so it's feedback like this that really encourages me to keep making videos. Great setup and let me know when you get some vids uploaded so I can check them out.
Im using preset WBLK with 8:7 4k60 with Gopro labs and 170MB/s and ISO 100- iso 800 and later crop in davinci resolve for YT & instagram...... if you create QRCODE with $PRES="0,WBLK" and create a preset named WBLK this will lock the white balance 1 second after recording start, only for that preset WBLK even if you reboot the gopro (no qrccode required underwater) im also using AOI UWL-03 lens
Hi. Sounds good. Yes I have wblk set permanently on but I also don't really use it for anything other than underwater video. I am going to make a video on just GoPro labs as there are a number of items in there worth trying or using. I left them out of this video so it didn't get to long. I think wblk is a non negotiable where as increasing bit rate depends. It has pros and cons. Even using QR cards has pros and cons and I've gone from loving them to rarely taking them underwater anymore. I'll make a video just about what I found were the pros and cons. The reason I don't use 8:7 often is I want the best footage for 16:9 and I find it's a big drop from 5k60 filmed in 16:9 rather than 4k60 cropped in post but certainly if you want flexibility for both formats it's the way to go. I'll check out your channel. Thanks so much for watching.
I just realised that my comments about the white balance lock WBLK may have confusing when I was talking about wanting a proper WB lock. So yes I have the WBLK setting on permanently but its still only an auto WB lock so as you know every time I hit record it continues to auto WB for about a second and then locks that WB for remainder of shot but as soon as I stop recording it goes back to auto. Now that is much better than having it continue to auto WB throughout a shot (most of the time) However it is still a major headache as I have to get the WB right before every single shot and things like say a shark appearing suddenly in the blue can be an issue. The gopro could have been pointing anywhere at the time and the chances of it being the right WB in that second as I madly try to get the shot is low and then now I have the issue that the white balance is wrong and do I stop recording and risk never getting a shot or do I film it at wrong wb etc. On a 'real' video or still camera I would be using a proper manual WB lock. So I would use a white balance card and point the camera at it and tell it to WB off that card (again I used to have grey fins or use the sand etc rather than always use the card). It would then set the perfect WB as you showed it what it needs to be and it now stays locked at that exact same setting until I choose to set a new WB. So as I change depth I would set a new WB but as long as I stay at that depth (there are some other variables but depth is main one) I can then just set the WB and every shot is perfect. I shoot a reef scene beside me or a shark comes out of the blue its perfect. If I change my lighting or my depth changes I set it again. That would be the dream as its one of the major differences between an action camera and a real camera. How they could do it with only the two buttons is another thing.
They have a few names but I believe original one was QH18. If you google that they should come up. I will be doing a video just on lights at some stage.
Great informations ! I use really close settings, I only add the log color profile allowed by the 12 version.

Great video. You mention 85$ lights from ebay, what are you using?

@ Can’t wait to see it!
