  • Chancellor Rachel Reeves says Labour plans to "bring stability back" to the economy and "fix the mess" they've inherited from the last government.
Ahead of her major speech at the Labour conference in Liverpool later today, the chancellor confirms that Labour will not be not raising income tax and national insurance in their October budget.
With the plans set to boost investment to the UK, she says there is "huge potential" for the country and "no end to what we can achieve as a country".

Why does Germany pay higher taxes than us but is significantly wealthier than us in every socio economic metric? Thanks to the Tories and Liz Truss in particular the UK Government is upto its eyeballs in debt, we pay £100 billion a year just in debt interest, for context in 2010 we had the same debt to GDP ratio as Germany, it’s now double the German rate. Brexit is another millstone around our neck, wiping £100 billion off our economy and £40 billion a year in tax revenues.

Over the past 14 years pensioners voted with glee for the Tories, despite them slowing wrecking the economy and saddling is with massive debt and it was pensioners who overwhelmingly carried the Brexit vote, despite benefiting massively from EU membership in their working lives and being told, even by the Tories they were voting to make themselves poorer. Working age people can’t keep carrying the burden of their stupidity, it’s time for pensioners to pay with the rest of us and PAY THEIR SHARE!

All those industries have such huge infrastructure backlogs that unless there is a substantial rise in the permitted charges, which the regulators are currently not allowing, getting involved in those industries would be a financial disaster. All three main parties, Tory, Lib Dem and Labour have to take the blame for the state of those industries and the failures of the regulators.

I am in UK since 2007 and clearly I see now a country with more and better opportunities for everyone compared to 17 years ago. What I see is an increase of people not working and living on benefits, I am a cleaning manager and no one wants to work because they are on benefits and they will loose it if they work
