The emcees in The Roots on this song is Black Thought and Malik B, rip (Rahimuhullah). Malik B was Thoughts partner but was in and out the group because of his problems still being attached to the streets. Through one of my emcee friends I got to know him in his later years. He recently died but he was an incredible emcee that doesn't get the credit he probably deserves especially how he played with them syllables. I always loved his line at the end, "...my squad from deuce four up to West Oak Lane. All the way to Tackawanna & Frankford they know the name...* anytime im in Northeast Philly and i pass Tackawanna Street I repeat that line. Been a habit for probably 20 years now.

Good video, man. This album has so many gems.
    Ital (with Q-tip),
    Concerto of the Desperado,
    Section,
No Alibi, too many to name.
Their next album Things Fall Apart won a grammy. Definitely a great listen.

He said "they'll all get their wrists slit." This is the hardest Roots album, maybe one of the hardest albums ever. Good video

@@Therealnoshoes hell yea! Check out other tracks on that album. The one u reviewed was #2. U should try number 3,4,6, 12& 13. The only name I remember is #13 which is No Alibi.
Then you should listen to the Roots album "Do you want more". They have Fo you want more on there, lazy afternoon, silent treatment and others but those are some good ones. They made it right before they made illadelph Halflife. U should compare the difference in the Albums. They were made 1 year apart. Do you want more is more of a feel good Album, but illadelph Halflife is a hard album. If u digging their music u should review em. I'll comment on em.
And the 2 lyricists on respond/react are Black Thought and Malik B....a hell of a combo
