      I can't watch a lot of four wheel driver 'experts'
      on youtube because they're all bloody idiots. (and yep, that includes Rhonnie bloody Dahl and that Sam Eyles/BNB boofhead.) Just because they are popular doesn't make them right. (Doesn't make me right, but I'm pretty good at this 4wd shit and helped shape the national training curriculum.)
      I would rate Tyler's experience and advice very highly, indeed. He seems to have his head on straight.
      Keep up the great work.

    I smell a full time youtube career on the horizen. Its all happening for you, well deserved. Been here since just over 1000 subs. Quality content each and every upload.
    Ps maxtrax mate... 1 for each wheel 😉. I reckon 50km per hour is a bit to fast for 2psi, just putter along. Last thing you would want is multiple tyres off the rim, that would suck. Lowest psi ive ever done is 5psi to get off a beach and up a long ass sand dune. Anyone who says it cant be done is talking shit, snd are a certified mall crawler.

    Rims/tyre combo makes a difference for how low you can drop pressures.
    Use to roll beads constantly with a 9” wide rim.

    Hey mate I completely understand everything you said about how much time creating content takes and just because you have sponsorship doesn't mean you don't believe in the products & would use them even without being given the product. It's hard to get people to understand sometimes that just because you've been given a product to use & review doesn't mean you have to give 100% positive feedback. Keeping your subscribers trust in you is the biggest thing & it's something not to be taken lightly. Your doing a great job mate 👍

      Selby Press The track out to the mouth is sandy but if let your tyres down you’ll be fine.
      When you get right out to mouth the last 50m is super soft so if you stop and camp before that you won’t have a drama 👍

    Nearly lost my D22 in that exact same section! There would've been minutes in it!
    A mate and I were cruising along that section of beach (as you say the sand is insanely soft), we tried climbing onto the harder sand closer up to the dunes, in doing so I had it 3rd gear low range pinned with no luck, ending up burried so close to the harder sand. I reveresed down to what looked like harder packed sand towards the lower third of the beach (boy.. was I incorrect).
    Attempting to have a run-up to get on the harder sand I sunk instantly, meters from the water's edge. I too tried climbing diagonally up the beach but found myself sliding even closer towards the water (about 2m from the wash of the waves). As the tide (and my stress levels) rise, I pull out the MaxTraxx and begin to dig myself out, then propping the tracks under the rear wheels to boost up the beach. After about 10 little boosts, where I was originally stuck was now completely underwater and the tide is chasing me up the dunes. After about an hour of progress with the MaxTraxxs a Patrol saw us in strife and came to the rescue, providing us with a snatch.

    2PSI. definitely. Thank god, some agrees with me. I have waited a long time to hear someone say this Lol.... Drop the pressure in your tyres, as low/high as is necessary in the situation you find yourself and then really importantly, drive accordingly. There is no "correct" low tyre pressure number, only as low as it needs to be, that gets you out of that given situation. All situations are individual, as are the vehicles. I don't think most people put enough emphasis on tyres and pressure and there is no magic formula. Those fours rubber points of contact are the most important on any vehicle, weather it's the family car, the work ute, a 4x4 or a racing car. It's the only points of contact with the driving surface we have. Great video.Thank you...

    I know the feeling. The day I bought my Triton I went strait from picking it up to Blacksmiths Beach, stock as a rock, never driven on sand. Got on the sand and felt a bit out of my depth so I swung it around down near the water to do a U-Turn and went strait down to the chassis... God knows how, but I JUUUSST got out but I was sure I was a gonner for a good 10 min..

    Hey Tyler. Love your videos and camera work. Its clear to see how much effort you put into your work and that it comes from a passion of 4wding and adventuring. Your no bs attitude and honesty about products and the way you go about things is one of the reasons I like watching your video. If you can earn $$$ from what you do - go for it. Why wouldnt you? Just always remember to keep it as you want it to be, otherwise it can easily turn into a chore and then the passion with go and so will the quality. I had a similar incident to this in Kernel just out of Sydney back in the early 90s when I first got my 1989 LN106 Hilux 2.8D, I had no pump, no winch, no recovery gear and only been on the beach a handful of times. I had to drop my tyres so low (I had no tyre gauge either) to get out of this little off strip of sand which luckily wasn't anywhere near the water. However was off into the bush and a fair hike to get back to the road.lol.. The worst part was the nearest petrol station to pump up was like 5-10km away and had to drive on the road with no air in my tyres. Learnt a valuable lesson that day, Can go as low as you want, to get out of sand and get a air pump...lol.. I have since learn if you don't turn too much and just go straight, you can lower the pressure to nothing and drive out of sand and it doesn't kill the tyres. So good to hear someone else having a pucker moment in sand and having to go too low to get out..lol..

      Back in 1970 I was stuck in sand and lowered to 0 psi

    Great video. I've been to 6psi a few times when things have been sticky and had no problems. Just remember to drive as straight as possible with only gentle turns on the steering wheel as that is what will pull it off the bead. Also if you go from 32psi to 16psi you are dropping 50% psi but then if you then only drop another 8psi you have again dropped 50%.

    That's happened to me twice over the years, at Robe in SA, and Coral Bay in WA. Waves lapping at the wheels, flat tyres saved me too. Maxtrax were useless, you sink immediately as you come off them. Dum dums say 14 psi because normal ambient air pressure is around 14 psi. A tyre gauge measures the air pressure above ambient pressure, so if the gauge says 14, then the pressure in the tyre is 28psi actual. 2psi on the gauge is 16psi actual.

    Another great video. Informative about air pressure. Thanks. While travelling alone in sand, it is a good idea to carry sand anchor. It becomes difficult if it is a long trip and beach is just a small portion of the trip due to weight issues.

    Good for you Tyler. Another great video. I'm glad to hear you're getting some sponsorships mate. Blind Freddy would know you have a connection with "Drifta", but there is no law against that. The fact that you give honest reviews is what's important. I would have been sweating bullets on that beach episode.Bloody hell, it doesn't get much hairier than that.
    I am always aware of how much work is involved in creating your videos. I like to imagine how you have gone about the various shots.
    One question though, I don't know much about Drones, so excuse me if this is stupid, but, because drones have pretty extraordinary control capabilities, could'nt you just fly a drone up the hill, set it in position hovering, while you drive to it, are they able to be set in one spot like that ?
    it's good to see that you are slowly making a living doing something that you love. Keep up the good work mate and cheers to your Dad. He seem like a nice sort of bloke.
    Check out a channel called "seek Adventure", by Michael. I was a big fan of his because he had a down to earth straight shooting approach, the same as yours. He gave it away in January this year because the amount of work involved made it become a chore, and he ended up losing his love for the hobby, and just wanted to get back to camping and 4x4 ing to simply enjoy it.
    Cheers
    Mate.

    • @TylerThompson90

      Thanks mate, appreciate the support and feedback!
      Yeah with drones in relation to that, drones don't get any sound and you want sound for the 4wding/hill drives, plus setting up the drone to fly every time is much more work then quickly running a camera up the hill. The drone has to locate GPS signal, orientate itself etc etc. Its a few minute job each time to use it
      And yeo I have seen the video of Michaels you are talking about

    • @steiny3353
      @steiny3353 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That just shows the quality of your tyres to go down the 2 psi without coming off the rims

    • @pcx4545
      @pcx4545 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tires aren't coming off the rim if you don't force them like taking a turn at too much speed or applying too much pressure to the sidewall, also he has aluminium rims which can hold a tire better than a steel rim, also losing a bead is harder when your tires are wider than you wheels by about 4 inches, for example if you have a 12" tread wide tire you'll lose the bead easier with a 10" wide rim than with a 8" rim

    • @willparlour76
      @willparlour76 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha good stuff mate. Ive been down to single digits a few times now gets pretty gnarly over here in the West. 12 is just standard for the old girl on sand. If u hear the pressure used to put a tyre on its rim you understand it isn't coming off unless ya drive like an idiot.

    One question. The fire under the awning. Ive always thought it would eventually melt or burn through, have you ever had that issue? I noticed hot ash melt holes in my brand new Kings awning wall on Wednesday night and that was with the fire to the side so surely you would get similar issues.
