One of the great bands from the 90’s. Creation and 4AD was set to blow our minds for a decade then Cobain and Mtv reset our addict minds with grunge. I was listening to tons of Swervedriver, Ride, Lush, Pale Saints, JaMC, MBV, Pixies, Spacemen 3. Saw Swervedriver at Cats Cradle in Chapel Hill NC. Was so wound up from the show I followed them to the next gig at the 40 Watt in Athens GA. The sound and feel of them all rocking forward to stomp on their stompboxes to take us down a twisted highway on a motorcycle was immense. Love love love Swervedriver
In my opinion, Swervedriver are 1 of the most radical sounding bands of all time. There are other and have been other rad bands over the years but i think that overall they take the gold medal! Mezcal Head would be in my top 5 albums of all time for radical sounds.
I saw them open for the Smashing Pumpkins at the Ritz in Ybor City, Tampa during Siamese Dream. What a show - I was so new to the area that I didn't know anyone so I went by myself, and ended up meeting another Swervedriver fan who just nerded out over this amazing band with me before we went our seperate ways.
Saw them last night in Adelaide, South Oz. Played all or Raise, some Mezcal Head and newer tracks. Onstage nearly two hours, crowd hypnotised by the waves of guitar washing round the room. Still a great band.
Thanks Swervedriver for Fibbers, York last night. Superb, life affirming love of music. New album totally recommended. It's just great that these are still around
Putting a fucking Duracell ad 1:10 into this video does not entice me to buy batteries, Google. Really? You employ how many people to get into the average consumer's head and this is your strategy? Well done.
Actually,I have a very cool picture of that guitar with blood splattering. He had ripped a significant portion of a nail off about 3/4 of the show......didn't even miss a beat.
The two guitarists are original. The bass player is not original but has been with them for a long time (he played on the 3rd and 4th albums). The drummer is from Adam's other band, Bolts of Melody. It's not clear yet whether he's officially the new Swervedriver drummer, or just a touring member.
Saw these cats open up for Hum in 98' at The Milk Bar in Jacksonville Fl. One of them kicked a dude in the face cuz he kept trying to grab him. I was like wtf?
SuttonSantiniPaulo man, I miss that 90s Champaign music scene. It was so close to exploding...Hum being one of them. I'm certain I saw these guys open for them here in Champaign
Yeah, i'm stopping skating, stopped playing videogames and listen to mellow music, i guess lifes slowing down a bit, i still play the guitar, a bit like Robin Guthrie's newer stuff these days, i suppose, in an ambient way.
PJ Butler Sign up to the swervedriver.com forum. I mail out any dates to that mailing list. Also they have a facebook. You an still get London tickets.
Someone like Joe Satriani in my eyes is quite good, radical and probably more technically advanced playing wise, but in more of a "cock rocky", kind of way and something i never really associated, or associate myself much with in my collective skateboard, videogame, guitar world. I'm planning on stopping skating at 43 and i generally listen to a lot more ambient and mellow music these days, less of the grunge i suppose.

sartori69 me too in Philadelphia. Turned me into a lifelong fan
STEVE on Bass is the Classic line up, after he left, you can tell what an contribution he was to the band. Your missed mate!✊🏾
I admire the intricacies in Adam's playing. I could never pull that off & sing as well.

Amazing band. I grew up with Sandblaster and their first album. I am privileged indeed. A very talented and original band. Love love love them.
Love this band. Never got to see them in the days, but their albums never disappoint.
I love this band. Kind of made me chuckle a little to see them with just pedals on the floor and no pedal boards. Just straight old school haha.

The Birds 00:13
Deep Wound 4:19
Cars Converge on Paris 11:57
Son of Jaguar 'E' 21:17
- You gotta love these guys...they are not a traditional rock band. The method in which they melt the guitars together is pure art...
Wow. They killed it on jaguar e. That sound!
Yeah, better than the album version. That’s why good bands always need to be heard live.
Beautiful 😍
Great job of audio engineering and hosting. Brilliant band as well, of course. Thank you.
Simply beautiful!
So great live
I love this guys!
SWD is one of the most innovative and rocking bands ever...those that diss them can FO!their tapestry of guitars are unparallelled.
I didn't know they were playing again, thanks KEXP!!!
God that sounds great. Thanks guys.

All these old comments, and I'm here late
I, as well, thought they meant Deep Seat. I promise to purchase a new record released by Swervedriver.
Saw these cats open up for Hum in 98' at The Milk Bar in Jacksonville Fl. One of them kicked a dude in the face cuz he kept trying to grab him. I was like wtf?
+SuttonSantiniPaulo That's English style man. You just listen, you don't get to fuck with them.
+FULLR3TARD It's quite fair really.
SuttonSantiniPaulo man, I miss that 90s Champaign music scene. It was so close to exploding...Hum being one of them. I'm certain I saw these guys open for them here in Champaign

That seems to be the original lineup? I saw them twice in 1991/93.
I saw them at the Cattle Club in Sacramento.
Ha so did I, I wonder if it was the same show. It was the early 90s and Medicine opened up for them.
That was the show!
if you like this you will love Teenage FANCLUB
100%
they have changed so much! i can't believe i don't see dreadlocks!
Nope...it's a Jazzmaster. Was on loan to Adam for the '12 US tour.
Wish he spoke more into the microphone.
i think adam has a crush on j mascis
Vesela Mašina Probably a mutual admiration situation.......
the vocalist is using the same guitar from this show
/watch?v=nuMBAxnG048
awesome
It's a Fender, even though it looks like J. Mascis' Squier model.
He's Adam Franklin, he's supposed to be off key ;)
Birds sounds like a fairly straight Bevis Frond Byrds tribute.
my bloody valentine meets dinosaur jr.
I like both those bands but absolutely not
i missed getting tix for Toronto .. how did i not see news on the tour.. rats rats rats.

Thanks. Will do
PJ Butler I did get tix for Toronto....hoping you can pull off a miracle and get yourself there!
Are you saying he would fail on American Idol? Not sure that's a bad thing.
DYI lol
I thought I heard that. I assumed I was tripping.
Errr, are you replying to yourself or something?
pretty sure thats a custom shop model
The fact they weren't huge goes to show you that the world has a shitty taste in music

singer is off key pretty frequently... everything else is golden
bloody rubbish the band starts and the badly placed ad comes on . thought kexp was about music
I was just wondering what you meant when youtube did the same to me! I could *pigf___* the person who thought that was a good idea.
Their energy is gone I'm afraid.
I hate to say it, but this drummer doesn't bring the energy for me.
