I just love how he says "Hey children" as he's teaching, really such a gentle teacher even if you were a complete amateur you could feel comfortable learning from an Iron Chef.

You guys are great. Dedicated father and supportive son. I love it. Iron dad spent years becoming a master and still maintained a great relationship with his son. Not many can say that.
My dad's passion was cooking and he taught me how to cook. He passed away this year and I cherish memories just like these that I got to make with my own father.

For me, one of the best things about TH-cam is being able to vicariously be in the room with amazing chefs like this and watch the extra steps that he goes through to make the meal better. It makes me a better chef. It also fosters my passion for cooking.
I discovered you guys for the first time today. I can safely say I am HOOKED! What an absolute pleasure it is to watch your videos, I paused this one around 20 times as I had to keep stopping to tell/show my husband. He really should just sit and go on the TH-cam binges with me. I love that Dad takes the time to explain and educate, and you can see the passion he has for food and for cooking, articulate in his explanation and communication but with an air of comfort if you know what I mean, like he knows us all personally. What joy it must be for you both to share something special as father and son.

Ahh Susur.... this man at his peak was one of the absolute best! To this day, I still remember him telling/showing me as a young cook how to get the most out of citrus. Hard man to work for, but damn did you learn from him!

At my old elementary school, they used to serve daikon to eat with your lunch. I always picked it over anything else from the fruit and vegetable bar, it’s been giving me nostalgia ever since I have watched this video. Thank you, keep cooking and never give up.

I think one of the most impactful lessons I have learned from this video is the distinction of flavours being feminine and masculine. My interpretation is that a masculine taste is something you actually TASTE, while feminine flavours are more aromatic. I could be wrong but it made more sense in my head. Really love this channel!
This and Binging with Babish is the most pure/wholesome cooking content on youtube. No pretention or flash or anything, just informative and respectful to the food and the audience. Makes me feel like I'm right there with him in the kitchen and just having a pleasant evening.

When I was in Japan I spoke to a chef who had been preparing A5 for decades and asked him the best way to cook it. He just said a slither of beef fat for the oil lightly coating the pan,a gentle amount salt and pepper med-low heat and gently browned. That's it. He said adding any more to it ruins the natural flavour it already has.
I feel this is accurate. One time, I cooked both A5 and regular prime rib eye, pairing them both with a dipping sauce. The prime rib tasted amazing with the sauce but for the wagyu it did not enhance the flavor at all, taking away from the experience instead compared to just salt or salt+pepper.
They use wagyu fat or high quality butter if they do add oil. Some chefs don’t use any oil for A5. It’s too rich to eat large amounts if by yourself so it’s served with other dishes and sides.
This channel is all about how to create beautiful creations in the kitchen, however. It has been trumped by the relationship of father and son. It is so damn beautiful!
