So glad to see more footage. Its good to hear more about Lethy because she was obviously important in his life, and she sounds like she was one helluva person, just like Popcorn.
Popcorn Sutton is a true mountain legend. The government should have left him the hell alone. This old man wasn't hurting nobody. Just a good ol country boy making some damn fine LIKKER. RIP MR. POPCORN SUTTON.
I’ve never seen a man smoke so many cigarettes who’s not on coke lol. He would’ve been a cool dude to chill with, as long as you minded yourself cause he don’t seem like he tolerated stupidity.
You should watch the clips were he is driving around hemphill. He ligths his cigarettes with the previous one. Not once, but all the time. My grandfather used to smoke rolling tobacco. Always had the next 1 behind his ear and lit it with the previous one like popcorn did. Popcorn looked way older than he actually was. Heavy drinking and smoking makes you look old and wrinkly.
Just started my first batch of shine and I’m fallowing popcorns recipe as a way to pay my respects and hopefully he gives me his blessing wherever he’s at right now I’ll take it with open arms and a smile! thank you so much popcorn for introducing me to your lost art of making likker!!! And remember “Popcorn Said Fuck You”
@@MsSaudm Here's Popcorn's recipe from his book: Ingredients: 25 pounds coarse ground white corn meal, enough to fill half of your barrel/container 50 pounds of sugar - 1 pound of sugar per gallon of water of total volume 1 gallon of malt - can be corn, barley, rye or a combination. Directions: Boil the water and pour over the cornmeal to cook. Allow them to cool to the touch. Add sugar and malt and stir in well. Leave it for a day. The following day the mix should be bubbling on top, stir it one last time and then leave it. You see here that we did not mention any addition of yeast, Popcorn said that the malt (any kind or combination of corn, barley, rye) is what makes it work - so he's using it here as alternative to distiller's yeast. Also, he's after the idea that wild yeast will start the fermentation within the mash. After a couple of days, when all activities in the mash has stopped, it should be ready to be distilled. Use a siphon or a bucket to transfer the wash to the still. P.S. This is for a barrel or 50 gallons of mash keep that in mind and you will have to do some math to downsize for your personal still size/ mash bucket P.P.S Also recommend using distillers yeast instead of just malted corn because I’ve had trouble with the natural yeast from the malted corn not being enough to get the mash working
