    Mega-dittos to all the compliments. But the camera's zoom-out affected the normal RFW sensation. I think the narrator was just about to explain the reason for the zoom as he neared Wyandanch, but a sudden noise stopped him.

    The crossing you couldn't remember coming into Brentwood station was Fourth Street. The little building you see on the right headed into Brentwood Station between the Fourth Steet and Brentwood Rd. Crossings was the original Brentwood grade level station before electrification. I remember when my mother and I would wait in the car, at the station waiting for my late father to come home from working in the Bronx on a diesel train.I remember hearing the diesel horn several minutes before the train arrived at the station. This was predominately on the weekends when he left the car for my mom who worked as a school teacher in the Bronx to run errands.They would usually commute together in the car during the week. Keep up the great work. 👍🏼

      Try 2009! That was when I made a stopover at Wyandanch, and it was single track, platform on just one side, and no crossover bridge. Then too, I remember from childhood in the mid 1950s that Wyandanch had just a short low-level platform made of planks with a little wooden hut as a station house and no canopy, serving steam trains. Ah, progress!

    The rain wasn't so much of a problem as much as the camera focusing on the rain drops on the glass, making the scenery blurry.

      I generally base my rail fanning activities on the weather forecast. I try to avoid rainy days like the plague but I was looking at the radar before going on this trip and it seem to suggest that it wouldn’t rain in this area but they were wrong. The majority of the trip was dry and people seem to like it in spite of that fortunately. This is an example where my commentary is very important because sometimes it can salvage what could be a bad video

    This use to be 119 lb rail now it's over 130 lbs. They did a 100 mph test train between Hicksville and Jamaica but residence said that was too fast so that ended that .

    Not necessarily this video, but you use the term "interlocking" quite a bit. In the UK we say "junction" or "points" Are we talking about the same thing ? I think we are. If you have not already found it, can I direct to Don Coffey's channel on TH-cam. Regards. Glad you are up & about again, love your vids.

    • @3985uprr
      @3985uprr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve seen his superb videos. Yes, an interlocking is a switch group remotely controlled by a tower (switchbox) or by a remote dispatcher. The latter is used here.

      For Switchbox we call it a Signal Box. We speak the same language, but sometimes do not understand each other. When last in the USA, i hired a car and was asking for "petrol or fuel" until I was put right and told to ask for "Gas".
