According to aboutlawsuits.com there is currently a Lawsuit filed against Johnson & Johnson OGX shampoo and conditioner products cause Hair Loss
A class action lawsuit filed over Johnson & Johnson OGX shampoos and conditioners, alleges the manufacturer falsely advertised the hair products as safe, while concealing information consumers may be exposed to formaldehyde and other ingredients which could cause hair loss and other injuries.
The complaint was filed by Larissa Whipple in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on June 7, seeking class action status to pursue damages on behalf of all consumers nationwide who purchased variations of OGX shampoos and conditioners, indicating Johnson & Johnson made misleading and false statements about the benefits purportedly offered by the products, while failing to warn consumers they may be exposed to cancer-causing ingredients.
The lawsuit involves Johnson & Johnson OGX Shampoo and/or Conditioner products, which contain DMDM hydantoin as an ingredient. DMDM hydantoin is an antimicrobial formaldehyde known to cause reactions including itchiness, red rashes on the skin brittle hair, loss of hair and even dermatitis.

Also they provide ways to find products that are less toxic. I'm mainly using Shea Moisture products since their ingredients are less harsh at the moment.

@@FemiSHairJust sharing (made another comment), I found out about this by a short. I stopped about a year ago; used the exact one you were using. Since I stopped, my hair is twice as thick now! Idk if that chemical was in it or not at the end, but my hair is better for quitting. Besides, it smelled funny (idk if I'm alone in that?) Went back to herbal essences, and my hair is happy. I have mixed hair, if that helps. Dryish, curly, frizzy. HE is much better than OGX WAS👍
I have been thinking this whole time I was just losing Globs of hair everytime I wash and condition my hair for no other reason than maybe I was losing my hair. I definitely could not figure this out and then someone told me to stop using this product because it causes hair loss and man it couldn't have made more sense! I never experienced this problem until I wanted to use better hair care products for my hair and decided to try OGX and I have been using this product exclusively for several several years!!! Like OMG... Excuse me OGX... Id like my hair back!
Yeah it definitely might be best to hold off from using their products until more info is out. Also I'm not a stylist so I could be wrong, but maybe go to a dermatologist to rule out any physical conditions if you are experiencing major hair loss.
So, I've used their products for years and what I personally have noticed is, the ONLY time i experience hairloss is not due to the shampoo itself but due to me damaging my own hair by dying it, not properly heat protecting it, or washing too frequently stripping the oils from my hair. Otherwise it's actually done wonders for my hair when i actually take care of my hair and use the appropriate products in a routine. I think it's possible a lot of the hairloss people are experiencing isn't actually from the product itself but from them running to this product after already damaging their hair hoping it'll be the miracle that saves it which makes sense considering how it's marketed. On average most people don't take care of their hair properly at all. Not to say it's not possible it doesn't work for some people. It's similar to skincare, itll work for some and it won't for others, but also like skincare it can make it worse before it makes it better depending on how damaged it is.

I threw out my bottle of OGX. I cannot chance having my hair fall out again. Already experienced that with DevaCurl and I was devastated.
I literally threw it and a Tresseme shampoo I was using away, and went and bought some regular degular Suave Strawberry 🍓 shampoo and conditioner. It does just what I need and I haven't heard any drama about it. I'm so done fooling with these companies, they need to leave well enough alone.

Yeah I never experienced hair thinning/loss untill a few months after beginning using their product. I’m a guy so I immediately thought it was hereditary balding. But the way my hair looks you can kind of tell that something damaged it the way it’s thinning. Threw it tf out immediately

I was loosing tons of hair afer using Ogx argan shampoo and conditioner(less than a month) ...After this information , I dont use Ogx anymore and hope that my thick hair will get to normal.

Hey and they have changed their ingredients, there was a specific ingredient that they don’t have anymore in they removed it , but I keep getting paranoid now seeing the stuff everyone is saying lol, I been using the Tea tree mint shampoo feels so good for the hair and it actually has peppermint oil which grows hair back apparently , but I can’t lie the Biotin and collagen one from OGX really made my hair get notted up and last few months I believe I’ve lost a lot of hair from that shampoo , maybe the ingredients but I have super thick hair so I guess it’s my dumb ass lol

I used the Argan Moroccan shampoo (blue) back in 2018 and the hair fall was so so so bad. I lost half the volume and it took a long time to grow back healthier and thicker. Thankfully my hair is soooo much better now. Wish more people knew this.

They changed the ingredients and I got this shampoo a month ago and honestly I am a man 22 with a man bun and this shampoo is doing wanders lol feel my hair is protected when I run my hands through it, feels and looks great and the other day I ran out of This shampoo and I had to use my other shampoo and that messed the way my hair felt and that’s the argan oil from dr organics lol this shampoo is amazing for me but then again I am looking at these comments and they are making me paranoid lol

@@nadiamahajabin I mean they changed the formula, it's been a year is say go for it, now if this were a year ago or even 6 months ago I'd say stay away but I believe it's say to use now, I watched a video by a guy that had a receding hairline and he talked about how he regrew it back to normal, he used methods like derma roller, biotin pills going outside more, and he used ogx biotin shampoo, idk if the shampoo did anything to help him regrow hair but it certainly looked like it helped him and this video was during the whole scandal

OMG, I have a doctor's appointment this week for my rapid onset of hair loss! My daughter just happened to stumble upon this info after reading comments on a shampoo commercial. I have been using OGX shampoo for just a few months and going bald for two months.

Either they changed the ingredients or it's just the coconut milk shampoo and conditioner from ogx. Still hasn't caused any problems for me, my hair is soft and moisturized.

I have had major loss of hair since beginning this brand. I use their coconut
Milk and the Argan and moraccan shampoo and conditioner. I’ve also used other ones but can’t remember the names. I lost over 3 quarters of my hair and about 3 feet or less of it. How do we get in on the lawsuit? I chocked it up to other things like age , stress, genetics, the change etc. I promise I have pics when I started using it. I went from coconut herbal essence and conditioner to ogx bc I liked the smell. I’m totally sick about this!!!!!! My hair is also very dry and brittle now and I’ve tried everything but never imagined that it was my conditioner and lovely shampoo.
OMG I'm sorry you had been through this! Yeah I'm not sure if past customers can file a claim in the lawsuit but definitely do a google search and see if you can do that.

@@ankitapandey08 I have stopped using it for several months. I have noticed half the loss. I do try to take vitamins such as collagen, biotin, vitamin C, D3, Iron, Zinc and sometimes potassium. I was taking all of it while I was losing hair. But like I said,” the loss has went to half.”

I’ve been using these products for a couple years now and have experienced this myself! I stopped using these products for a couple weeks now and I’ve noticed a huge fucking difference! My hair feels thicker and it’s not so dry anymore I think I’m done with their shampoo and conditioners

I've been using the OGX Biotin and Collagen shampoo and conditioner for awhile now, and my hair hasn't fell out.
I'm not a liscensed dermatologist...but in my opinion if it is working for you than stick with it. Do what you think is best for you.
@@FemiSHair and quite funny enough, that I noticed that the Biotin and Collagen shampoo and conditioner wasn't shown or mentioned. Neither was the Tumeric shampoo and conditioner. And I've used that one too. At least now I know which ones not to use. 🙂🤓
Dude, I wish I would have heard this when it came out! I thought my hair was thinning because I was really sick. But it just kept going. I saw a short last year that mentioned this, so I quit using it. My hair is TWICE AS THICK NOW!!!! I can't believe I didn't know about this. I wasn't sick for the last year of me using OGX, the exact one in the video. My hair got really thin! My hair is twice as thick, and maybe will get more thick as I heal and detox. Crazy! Glad people made videos about this👍👍👍

@@elmoeh1 I went back to Herbal Essences, which I was using before. I'm so sorry, if you are thinning naturally, I don't have that advice 💔 It's just that the OGX stuff was truly thinning my hair. I hope you find what you need; I'm really sorry. If it is an OGX problem, just stop using it and use whatever worked for you before ✌️🖖🙏
@@elmoeh1 I just thought of something; have you tried vitamins? When I worked in the hospital, I used to use prenatal vitamins because of washing my hands off. My nails were like tissue paper, so that actually helped. Pretty sure there's a supplement called Hair, Skin, and Nails. My nails improved to almost normal (I was washing my hands like 20xs an hour, 12 hr shifts, so I'd say that was pretty good). Maybe you can check your hormones too? That's why my hair is thick; my hormones are all messed up. The trade off is endometriosis, so not really great. But that's why I have what I have. I wish you all the luck❤️✌️
Oh wow,I just did a big chop on my hair January 23,and I purchased the OGX tea tree mint shampoo and conditioner, I haven't used the conditioner yet but I noticed that my hair up in the crown area was coming out,and I couldn't figure out what was causing that to happen, after I would wash my hair,the only other product I was using was the Mielle rosemary scalp& hair strengthening oil,and I didn't know what causing my hair loss in that area,I just stop using the oil,thinking it could be that,not thinking it could be the shampoo 🥺😲,my son was using it also,but I haven't noticed anything with his hair, Definitely won't be using anymore. You are welcome!! Also, try to eliminate other factors that might be causing hair loss. Maybe it’s certain hairstyles or unknown health issues. It might be best to go to a dermatologist to rule any of those out as well that might be causing the hair loss.
The tea tree mint shampoo was probably drying your hair out to much.
Hi, not all of their shampoos have DMDM Hydantoin. The one that you have has Diazolidinyl urea, which acts as a formaldehyde release, just like DMDM Hydantoin.
I bought this shampoo and my mom was there & she said “I never used it get the creme of nature” I wanted to be grown and bought the OGX now I’m scared 😀😀listen to y’all mamas😭

I was affected by ogx dmdm and still am, I am switching to vegan hair & skin products to try and reverse the damages

Have you noticed that alot of the products are now made in Canada instead of USA. And I don't see the bad ingredients unless they are calling it something else. Dmdm is in alot of shampoos😳

I’ve used them for like 5 years. One day the back of my head and hair started burning and itching. A few weeks later I decided to cut it. It’s now growing back with two huge bald spot in the front of my head and in the back smfh

I’ve been using the OGX coconut oil spray for over a month and I thought it was something else!!! I began losing clumps of hair a week after!!! Don’t use this!!!

Crazy bc I used the purple set to thicken my hair and it seemed to work but I noticed my hair is thinning again few months later ..I've used these sets on and off for years...I am certain zero hair care products are safe especially in America bc fda does not require honest labels at all on anything including food

I never would have known and bc I literally looked up the video to show a friend who is losing her hair from covid recently in recovery I came across this one. ...I am going to pay for a better quality set now and look u each ingredient for her to see what they actually are and from now on...I am shook embalming chemical was in this set ...geez that's truly scary and they need to recall these and pay for all damages ...hair is a person's glory and trying to save it and doing more damage than helping bc of false advertising is insanity...that's why I did not take the Johnson and Johnson vaccine ...this corporation needs to be stopped for good!!!!! Oh my I've been using for at least 5 years obx and all of those side effects I've had dermatologist didn't help but it make sense if it was the darn shampoo I used the biotin thick and full. This is definitely not good news
I used the OGX shampoo ( biotin and coconut oil, my hair fell out and broke off… I went to my hair dresser carried the bottles of what I was using , found this out… needless to say I left the shampoo and conditioner there and told her to throw in trash.

at first the biotin one worked fine for me, but then it started just making my head itch like crazy and major fallout. i thought it was from stress and bad diet, but once i switched to another shampoo it fell out wayy less. def would not use again

HAVE BEEN USING OGX SHAMPOO FOR A LONG TIME WITH NO PROBLEMS. IN FACT IT MAKES MY HAIR FEEL AND LOOK BETTER.
I'm using ogx coconut oil shampoo for last 6th months and it completely stopped my hairfall while washing and also hairfall is so much less while brushing

I used the Argan and moraccan shampoo many years ago and I noticed hair came out like 4-5 pieces everytime I use my hand to comb thru my hair, now I know why!! OMG! I stop using it right away! Never again did I buy their products

I was searching for someone to review about this but to be fair I shaved my air for the army and started using this brand the Argan oil of Morocco and my air grew really healthy but now it’s much longer it’s back to it’s old self so idk if it’s the shampoo or myself

I used this product for 3-4 years and noticed my hair started thinning it stopped thinning and falling out once I threw the shampoo away a year ago but my hair stopped growing in the spots where it was thin did anyone else grow their hair back ?

Coconut oil, change your shampoo/ conditioner, argan oil, don’t use a towel or heat such as blowdry for your hair, use like a 100% cotton shirt to just dry it a little, silk pillows and bobbles, be gentle with your hair especially when wet because that’s when it’s weakest, braid your hair for strength structure and less knots, only wash your hair like 1 or 2 times a week, biotin supplements or tablets maybe. Eat healthy and DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
I used OGX and noticed extreme hair loss and breakage on the top of my head. I looked like a hot mess lol. So I switched to Keratase Resistance product line to help restore my hair and build back the protein bonds and it grew 12 inches in one year. Insane! It’s a lot of money but it’s worth it and lasts a long time. My hair looks so healthy and I get compliments everyday. I have similar hair texture like you too.

I literally just scheduled an appointment to see my doctor because I’ve been using this for a while and have been losing hair so easy! In the shower and out the shower. I couldn’t figure out what it was. I even got my blood tested, etc. Now I know that it’s this! Stay away from this y’all.
Yes if you are having hair loss then the best thing to do is to see a dermatologist and/or trichologist!!
If it is class action, file and keep proof that you have been using that stuff. I wouldn't care if it's empty bottles. Personally, I think persons of color should not use anything made by or has the label from johnson & johnson ever

I REALLY hope that maybe since it's a newer shampoo that maybe they aren't including the bad ingredients anymore.

If you are using the oil then definitely give extra attention to your hair and see if you have any reverse affects

I use the biotin and collagen shampoo and conditioner. I really like it. I use it for like 3 months and i haven't had any issues with it. Maybe they changed the ingredients.

I have been using same products for more than 2 years now. It helps a lot, especially at the beginning, hair fall reduced significantly and new hair coming as well.
Do you both have Afro hair? I just bought both biotin & collagen shampoo & conditioner & I have Afro hair & it would be great to hear some positive results with Afro hair

After my first use of this shampoo ogx biotin blablabla and conditioner my hair did pump like crazy! My curls were precious but when I read ingredients I gave this shit to my friends friend and started to wash my hair with an egg yolks.
egg yolks?!?!? hmmmmm...I'm not a dermatologist but maybe look into natural soaps like black soap if you want to go the natural route.

Looking at this now my hair I brushed it out and a whole chunk came off that’s straight in the trash now me thinking my hair was going to get long smh
Definitely go to a dermatologist to get a plan on what to do to stop the excessive shedding

I've used this a lot and for nearly a decade and never experienced any symptoms. However, this is making me freak out a bit and I'm ditching this bottle after it's done. If they can't swap these ingredients out for something safer, they don't deserve my business.

try shea moisture jb castor oil shampoo it’s more $ than ogx but i don’t use that much product. my hair sheds a whole lot less now

I thought I had scalp psoriasis, after looking into what products I have been using to weed out the possibilities of what’s causing the flaking, I stumbled upon the lawsuit. I’ve lost so much hair due to the ogx bitotin shampoo,and my scalp has took a beating. Crazy to think that they’re still selling this in stores

Unrelated to ogx but I’m experiencing this with not your mothers matcha apple shampoo and conditioner, don’t know why it didn’t hit my sooner something was wrong( because it obviously was lol ) I’ve used a couple months I think, I got a new shampoo and conditioner Maui hibiscus lightweight I used it yesterday and it felt so nice in my scalp and usually with my other I experienced dryness in the front and it itch like a bitch! But with shampoo no itching and the conditioner I could really feel working, I came across this when I was looking for new shampoo and conditioners to use, kinda wanted to try ogx but I’m sure there are better brands out there anyways

i have been using the OGX tea tree oil and the tea tree conditioner for at least 6 months now whenever i have an oily scalp and my hair has been just fine. should i switch? 😭 it’s the only shampoo that i can afford that prevents sebum buildup
Do what works for your hair. I'm not a dermatologist so I can't give you advice. In "my opinion" I think if you see no affects then stick to what works.
