GM has discontinued these parts since this video was made. So you’ll have to set a search alert until one pops up. Be sure you use the links in the description (there are two) as one searches for the previously discontinued numbers. Any will work for this mod so you could put a watch on both sets of numbers.
Followed this video years ago to get Bluetooth in my car and could never find it again and have gone through several new phones and always been without Bluetooth since. today I was blessed and found your video again thank you 🙏🏻 😂 I could not figure out how to get to Bluetooth music settings
I have been trying to make this change to my chevy cruze for over a year now. By far, this has been the most helpful video i have watched and just ordered the part. Thank you so much!!!
Yep, I did a comprehensive search and can't find the new module for my 2014 Lt. Can't even find old ones! I may just get a wireless aux one for the center console. Any other ideas?
With the parts discontinued by GM, the only options now are setting a search alert on the eBay links I have in the description. Or watching the local LKQ type salvage yards for a suitable donor you could pull from.
I have a 2014 it has the KTA and the usb/aux ports but they don't work when I plug something in to them. Only the cd player comes on when I press the configure button so I can't check the last part. I replaced the fuse and even got new usb/aux ports but it still didn't work. Have you come upon this problem before?
No, I have not but it could be that the original white label PDIM has failed if the ports are there but inoperative. I'd disassemble enough of the trim to confirm the white label PDIM is installed before buying the yellow label (or older blue label) replacement to add the Bluetooth. Unless you're the original owner since new, you have to open it up anyway to eliminate the possibility of previous owners having damaged the KTA wiring harness during some aftermarket product installation as well. It can also be that a previous owner replaced the radio so you'll want to be sure there's an actual PDIM harness connection there.
This module just adds Bluetooth audio streaming as an input source instead of just aux-in. As best I recall it does not add any new functionality or features.
Sometimes when I plug in my phone to aux, I get an error message saying “This accessory is not supported by iPhone” on the car. If I change the PDIM, would that solve if install the new PDIM for Bluetooth functionality? It’s the reason why I’m doing the upgrade.
I'm not aware of any USB improvements in the Bluetooth PDIM. The feature this brings is the same as you have now for USB and AUX, and just adds a Bluetooth A2DP streaming profile. These kinds of device errors _could_ be caused by not using genuine Apple lightning cables. It can also be caused by a very old level of Apple iOS. But it's more likely just GM doesn't invest in trying to keep up with Apple's latest iOS firmware updates. This GM service bulletin link covers the 2011-2013 Cruze, and explains that they really only claim to support an iPod level of functionality with USB, even with iPhone - static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2012/SB-10062525-7690.pdf
You would be missing the wiring harness for a PDIM, and you may not have a radio with the support built in for one. If I had your situation, I'd visit a salvage yard and attempt to pull the option KTA parts you're missing (harness from the center console to the PDIM, and from the PDIM to the radio). I'd also bring along the radio from the donor vehicle, just in case yours doesn't have the support (the base radio has two versions and the non-KTA option one is reported to not won't work with the PDIM option).
It would be the like a pair of bluetooth speakers right. Anything you can play over a bluetooth speaker, you can stream into the radio with this mod upgrade. So there's no iPod controls done wirelessly, just streaming audio. If you want iPod controls, you need to do it wired over USB.
I have a 2011 chevy cruze but the sticker in the glove compartment didnt have KTA, but did have KTF. Also it does have an aux port but doesn't have the USB port next to it. Does that mean I cant make this bluetooth upgrade?
KTF is unrelated to the radio area. Having aux and not USB would be just the base radio, so it's unlikely the radio head unit even has the PDIM harness connector on back (though there were two radios one with and one without it so you might want to pull it and see). Anything is possible with a trip to a salvage yard and a suitable donor car, but it would be more of a project than this video covers.
This PDIM with Bluetooth is originally a Camaro option, just happens to be compatible with the Cruze also. So while I know it's compatible with some Camaros - I can't tell you how to install it or what the pre-reqs are for compatibility because I've not worked on a Camaro before.
Hands free phone Bluetooth is built into the radio only. The separate PDIM is only for music input, either over USB/AUX by default or Bluetooth depending on if you do this upgrade or not. GM did not have a single technology solution in this era.
I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze. And I phones connect just fine using USB. But when I try connecting an android the system won't recognize it. Would doing this swap help that problem also?
Possibly, you might want to google on that particular Android phone brand and OS version and see if there are any Bluetooth complaints about that model with GMs Bluetooth solutions before trying the mod though.
Hi DrShock. My Cruze Bluetooth seems to have disapeared (and i dont mean not able to pair) I mean the unit seems missing or broken ? No1 fuse is serviceable. But the bluetooth option is no longer usable in the menus. It's still there... but bluetooth can't be factory reset or selected for options. Config/phone/bluetooth states "not available" Config/phone/factory settings/restore factory settings - just hangs with a "please wait..." message. The car came with the PDIM and all the upgrades. Sat Nav, HDD/AUX/USB etc... Original owner. - Can these units go bad ? and if so how do you test it ? Do i need to swap in a working PDIM ? Or can you test the old one ? Thanks for any help you can send my way.
There are two Bluetooth radios in these cars, one for the phone ops and another for music input (whether it's wired or wireless). The config path for the phone you reference would not be coming from the PDIM, which is the USB/aux/streaming Bluetooth music path only. If the built-in phone Bluetooth support is not working, that is part of the main radio head unit itself. Now you mention _Sat Nav_ also, which would mean it's not the base radio in this video at all but something more like a MyLink. If the radio isn't the one in this video, but a touch screen type, then there is no separate PDIM as it's built into the main radio head unit on the MyLink style ones. But if I've understood what you're saying here, either way it's the main radio head unit that would need to be serviced, presuming there's no problem with the wiring harness from corrosion/abrasion etc causing these symptoms. Confirm my understanding and the year of your Cruze and I can give you some further advice on how to address.
Hi Doctor Shock. 3rd time is a charm, as youtube seems to be deleting my responses? Thank you very much for answering me. It is greatly appreciated, as is your help. I have a 2011 cruze SRi-V 1.4L Turbo JH series II. Holden Australia variant. I have the full touchscreen "infotainment" unit for the radio. Similar to the 'mylink' I think? - Bluetooth/USB/AUX/DVD player - all of the accessories that were availble we had added. Original owner. Top model (most expensive) available. Our first new car, so we went all out. Here is the URL for the post on cruzetalk that i did asking for help there. Photo's and more details of the problem therein. Any help you can lend would be appreciated. Feel free to answer here or there, if at all... Any direction you can point me is one more than i currently have, so thank you again. www.cruzetalk.com/threads/bluetooth-function-has-disappeared-entirely.252681/#post-3318755 Thank you again. @@456of789 It was probably you posting a URL in the comment, those almost always get spam bucketed. Your question is probably going to be too technical for an owner to owner forum like that to get answered over there. If I had this problem in the USA, I'd still suspect the radio head unit and hit up a local salvage yard and pull one just like this for testing purposes. Here a touch screen radio from these years would run around $30. I'd swap that in, but not start the car, just to see if the Bluetooth menu became accessible now in the swapped unit (I'd 99% expect the answer to be yes it does). Since the vehicle is out of warranty, I'd go the route of opening the original unit up and the salvage unit, and locating the board inside responsible for phone bluetooth and swapping them. Repeating the test to confirm success. I'd go this component swap route to avoid having to deal with the VIN lock of swapping the main board, if I could. I can't tell you what board that might be, as I'm unfamiliar with this radio you have. But that might give you a better question to ask. Also I'd put this question on a more technical board like digital-kaos.co.uk, which is also non-USA based so increasing the possibility some tech is familiar with the Australian Cruze radio setups from 2011. GL.
@@DrShock thank you. I will look into this idea. Unfortunately our wrecking yards are far more expensive for used parts than what it is in the USA. But still a valid avenue to research. I will tare down the radio over the weekend anyway and see if its anything obvious. Maybe there is a loose plug or a dry solder joint? Thanks for your help Very appreciated from 🇦🇺 Adam.
So I have an android and when I plug it into the USB it doesn't give any audio and when I try to hold down the menu button nothing happens. All of the other checks are good but I can't figure this one out. Any ideas?
Ah, got it. Well with the base PDIM you won't have the same audio capabilities as an iPhone or iPod, and very limited for Android. I seem to recall folks finding settings in Android to get this working, try on Google some search string like _chevy cruze android usb developer mode_ and see what comes up that can help you. Doing this PDIM upgrade will get past that problem, as instead of USB audio you'll be using Bluetooth which is less problematic for Android devices.
That's the one I used, there's actually several iterations of this part from GM that are listed in the description. I only list part numbers that folks have commented on that worked for them. All of these are discontinued by GM since the pandemic hit, so finding used or new old stock (NOS) are the only routes now.
I just replace mine and the Bluetooth works as expected. however, my ac/hv is not working now. Is there any way this could go wrong and affect my AC/HV module/siystem? Chevy 2014 LT turbocharged
my cruze has usb, audio jack and the menu result, but there’s no sticker in the glove box to confirm KTA, is there another way to confirm the correct loom? thanks from australia! 🇦🇺
Outside the US that sticker might be located in the trunk. It's there somewhere, all GM vehicles have it so the dealers can confirm how the vehicle was built for options not associated with the VIN itself. If the sticker is missing, and all of the other checks check out, I would go ahead and do the disassembly and eyeball the base PDIM is there. If you find it, then order the upgrade. The reason for caution on this is you usually cannot get a refund on GM parts, and you never know what sort of aftermarket or home grown mods someone may have done before you so you want to make sure it's a legit KTA setup first.
Just bought a 2014 Chevy Cruze LT. Only 29k miles. Unfortunately, it doesn't have bluetooth. Wondering if this can work without having to go to dealer to get it programmed.
No programming required. But you do have to meet all the pre-reqs I go over in the video. This wasn't something originally available on the Cruze in the USA, but rather only the Camaro. But since GM at one point planned to offer it, it's something that works. But only if you have the pre-req wiring and radio that comes with option KTA.
Hey I have a friend that has a friend with a junk yard. Has a lot of gM vehicles from 2011 and up. Which vehicles should I check in to find the correct PDIM for my chevy cruze...I saw you mention camaro, but what years and where is the PDIM located in one....Thanks...
Likely the same years as Cruze for this video. While the Cruze never offered this module in vehicles sold in North America, it was supported at the hardware and firmware level. And was likely sold in the Cruze outside North America for that to be the case.
For charging of course, and also for iPod control you still need it. You can only stream audio not control playlists or select by artist or the like. That still needs the USB cable.
Hello, I was looking at replacing my PDIM in my 2013 cruze eco. I took apart the console to see what PDIM I had, but I ended up not finding any PDIM but rather an empty space where it should be. In my glovebox I find a KTF code rather than KTA... my car already has the bluetooth/aux/usb functions so I'm confused as to why there is no PDIM? Any information would help a ton!!
Option KTA was the factory set with aux/usb audio for the regular radio head unit. The PDIM is wired to the USB jack in the center console only. These GM option codes don't follow each other sequentially, KTF is unrelated to entertainment features. If you have a MyLink radio, that would explain it. If the USB in the center console is working, I'd look again for the PDIM. Only way, with factory wiring, that could be functional.
@@DrShock the USB function does not work, along with the bluetooth/aux. I'm lost as to why there is a slot for the PDIM if there is no PDIM or wiring for it. I'm unsure of where to look or what steps to take now.
@@maddiekosir9007 So just so I follow you. You have _factory_ USB/aux assembly in the console (like I show in the video with the little door covering it), and this wiring end up dead ended where the PDIM would go but there's nothing there? You see both wiring harness connectors I show in the video (one from the radio and one from the USB/aux harness) but no PDIM to plug them into? If so, hmm yeah that is very odd. On the one hand you would have KTA in the glove box if it came with the PDIM. On the other hand who would go thru the trouble to manually add all the parts except the PDIM itself! If I were in this situation, I'd buy an used white label PDIM and use that to test out that it's all working and legit. They tend to be very cheap. Worst case you get working USB/aux cost wise.
@@DrShock yes, I have the factory USB and aux. After multiple times looking for the harnesses or any kind of wiring, I found nothing! So not even sure if I would buy the PDIM since there is nothing to plug it into unless the correct harness is there and plugged into another part that I cannot find. Strange case! Thank you for the replies
I have a 2011 chevy cruze and I have a samsung galaxy note 20 ultra, it just says when I plug it in the USB port PFD SCH-1415 , it also says no data found.
If you do _not_ have the Bluetooth upgrade this video goes over, then you will just have the standard USB connectivity package to the radio which is geared towards either Apple iPod music, or standard MP3 player storage. An Android device fall into the latter category, so are viewed as storage devices. If you have stored music on the Samsung in a format the radio recognizes it should play it, if not you get _no data found_ as the obvious message. If you get this message and do have music, it's some sort of compatibility issue that _might_ be addressed by having the most recent Android level, but not always.
Hello all, not sure if this is related but I have a 2012 cruse LT similar to the one in the video. the connection as i was listening to music (youtube) has died. I use an Iphone, it has never given me problems. Can this part die and refuse to recognise my Iphone? If i change this piece, will it give me back the chance to recognise my phone once plugged in? Yes, ive tried a new cable, new iphone software update......(im starting to think it was the new update that did it in.....) any comments?
It's possible that it's software related, like the iOS update introducing some incompatibility. If you have the Bluetooth PDIM upgrade that this video goes over, try forgetting the iPhone in the radio menu and relearning it. If you have the base PDIM (aux and USB only) then I'd try the following: - Pull the radio fuse to completely power down the entertainment modules. Then reinstall and start the car, then shut off the car. This is similar to restarting the iPhone, retry both USB and aux. - Restart the iPhone (power off/on) and reconnect over aux instead of USB (this would confirm some functionality). If aux also doesn't work then very likely the PDIM has a problem. If aux works but not USB, then it's more likely an issue with either the USB jack or its wiring harness installed in the Cruze imo. For the latter you could try some of that canned air for removing keyboard dust directed inside the USB jack.
If your 2014 passed the checks I go thru in the video, you should still be gtg. The center console disassembly will be a little different for a manual transmission setup, I give some pointers for that in the description though.
Np, yeah a Camaro of the same year range would be the correct salvage yard target for this module. The Cruze, in the USA and Canada, did not have this as a factory option (though it was supported in the BCM and radio firmware). The Camaro had this as a factory option, and higher trim levels would have included it by default.
Yes, I believe it's in the center console area near the radio head unit though of course not the same exact area as the Cruze. You might peruse a Camaro forum or two for folks going over replacing one to confirm the exact access procedure.
That would only be a 2013 and up option, there was no GM upgrade kit for this on earlier years. Believe the only path here is an aftermarket harness and picking up the receiver, display and trim bezels from a salvage yard vehicle.
HI DrShock, you mentioned briefly in your video that the upgrade gives the car 2 radios, but will we be able to control the music streaming with the center dashboard radio or the steering wheel controls?
The Bluetooth radio this upgrade adds for streaming behaves the same as aux-in music controls wise since the PDIM handles both inputs. The other Bluetooth radio is the one that handles hands free calling for your smartphone.
I'd be interested in your feedback. I have a 2011 Cruze that has never had USB compatibility. Just bought the car recently, everything works fine except for the USB and Aux. The USB will charge the phone but not play music. I purchased a replacement white PDIM and that didn't fix the issue. I was able to find a blue PDIM with Bluetooth 2083388 on eBay and after installing it, no change. Just charges the phone. I can't seem to determine what my HW/SW firmware version is because nothing is recognized when plugged into the USB. The car is KTA as you mentioned in the video. I'm wondering if this is a radio firmware that needs to be upgraded or if I'm overlooking something. After installing the Bluetooth PDIM, when I go to Aux and press the menu button, nothing happens. Any thoughts?
Presuming it's the factory radio that came with the car (not all GM radios will work with a PDIM) then you should be able to have the radio communicate with the PDIM and pull the HW/SW version info like I show in the vid. If that's not working then I'd suspect the wiring harness between the radio and the PDIM or the radio itself. Since you already tried a different PDIM I'd rule that out for now. And the USB cable wouldn't have anything to do with not pulling firmware version info. So I'd re-pull the trim and focus on the harness from the PDIM to the rear of the radio. Verify both ends clicked in place. Make sure no corrosion on the contacts. Carefully inspect the individual wires of the harness for damage (nicks, cuts, breaks. If you have a DVM that can check continuity I'd check each wire (both ends disconnected of course).
@@DrShock Great feedback. Thank you. For extra color, yes, factory radio and what was the factory PDIM. It's getting the radio to communicate with the PDIM that seems to be the problem. I even tried to bypass the USB in the center console by tapping the extension port right by the passenger side kick plate but still nothing. So you're saying the connection between the radio and the PDIM could be the problem. The replacement bluetooth PDIM came with a wiring harness so I may be able to replace it to see if that corrects the problem. Thank you for your feedback.
It's the logical place to start. You should be able to pull up those HW/FW version levels even with the aux and usb harness disconnected from the PDIM. That's just the radio and PDIM communicating on the cars communications bus. If they cannot communicate I would feel it's either the harness between them or the radio. For example, someone may have replaced the factory radio at some point before you with another factory one but which doesn't have the support for option KTA. What about AUX, does that work at all? Looking for any signs of connectivity between the radio and PDIM.
So my daughters usb quit playing music on her 2012 chevy Cruze it charges her phone but won’t play music , I tried couple usb cables different iPhones still same , so u think buying this will make her music play thru Bluetooth thanks , and by the way great video
I've never encountered a smaller display screen module on a USA 1st generation Cruze of the years this video covers. I have seen photos of these smaller/thinner screens though so I know they are out there though. The display screen module, the module with the control buttons, and the radio module (which also includes the XM receiver) all communicate over their own local bus separate from the vehicle bus. I would suspect the smaller height display modules are intended for only particular radio modules. Curious, is your vehicle from the USA or another country?
@@DrShock actually i am thinking about changing both the screen and radio module as it would not work by changing only the screen module, like you said. + i think 2-line radio module has the same inputs imgur.com/dir0zVA with 4-line take a look. the vehicle from Turkey by the way. 2011 LS model in Europe has 2-line screen :)
Can't really tell as that photo is too far away to see the connector pinout on either module. But you being outside the USA/Canada with that display makes sense now. Yeah, I would expect that display to only be compatible with the in-country radio modules. If not by connector, then by firmware for the bus handling between the two. The USA radio modules are very unlikely to know how to communicate to a display module that is smaller in lines of data height.
@@DrShock found a closer one imgur.com/zvTaKZV what do you think do i have any chance to get 4-line screen work by just replacing and reprogramming it for the VIN code + read again and think you get it wrong, in there are also 4-line screens used in other models of cruze, here in europe. so i can find both radio+display modules together :)
If you can find an in-country pair of modules, that would be your best bet and just deal with VIN unlocking. That connector you show on the radio module looks the same as the USA ones, the connector on the display module was what I was trying to see. But it's not important, grab the matched pair in-country.
First, let me point out these Bluetooth modules have been discontinued by GM for a few years now. There are search links in the description by GM part number, but you may have to hunt for them. The 2016 Cruze Limited is _supposed_ to be the same as the 2015 but there were some differences here and there. You would have to open up the center console to see if you see the same PDIM there as shown in the vid, and you would need to see that the radio responds to the same firmware version readout as well.
This video is unrelated to MyLink radios, different design there I suspect. MyLink was not original equipment in model year 2012 Cruzes. But I am not familiar with how those are setup so could not advise how to retrofit it.
Excellent video! Is sound volume affected with this upgrade? For example, hearing the radio on full volume is quite loud, but when I use an aux for my own music the volume doesn't get as loud.
I find the volume with the Bluetooth PDIM comparable to the AUX version, but it's possible it varies depending on the PDIM part number used. Just a guess though.
Yeah the Cruze never actually came with this option in the USA. Only the Camaro. So we're doing a mod to a Cruze with a Camaro part in this video (though GM discontinued the part during the pandemic). So if you can find one on a Camaro of the same year range as the Cruze, and it's one of the part numbers listed in the video description, it _should_ work. Not all of these modules are compatible with the Cruze BCM, just the ones listed.
You have to manually eyeball and verify the part number on the module label or box photos matches one of the ones I listed as tested in the Cruze, some online sellers just list every GM part number they can find as search keywords thinking these are all the same.
No, but in the video I show how to read off the part number from the label I'm referring to. I also point out that none of the white label modules have this functionality, whereas of the yellow and blue colored label modules at least _some_ do. Again the list of tested part numbers of the yellow and blue label color variety are in the video description.
Hi, this video is amazing. I have a 2012 Cruze LS with just BT for phone calls. I see KTA in the sticker in the glovebox. I did the USB test and got DB DD. I think I'm set for the upgraded PDIM. I have just one question, which unit do I buy and where can I get it?
DrShock, thanks for the video! If I have the KTA in my 2015 Cruze will this upgrade work? It's an LS which did not come with the bluetooth music capability.
I've not had personal experience with a Cruze newer than 2014, but others have commented that it worked for 2015 just fine. If you open up the center console and find that it shows the same white base PDIM design and part number shown in the video though, it should. Expensive experiment though, you might want to look thru some forums first for someone who has already pioneered it. Please comment back if it works for you.
Nah, that firmware check is just another step to confirm you have the base PDIM already installed to insure a smooth upgrade. It's not really important what level it shows, but you'll want to note that it changes after the upgrade to a different set of values.
I have a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LT (1st gen without Bluetooth) will this work even if my car never had Bluetooth before? Edit: My car is really much base because it does not have USB
There are some pre-requisite checks in the video you would have to run to determine compatibility. This module is originally for the Camaro, and you would need those checks to pass to have the correct wiring and radio firmware programming to support it.
eBay links in the description are working fine. Only other source would have been your local Chevrolet dealer parts counter, but this part is now discontinued so eBay is it.
So those versions are not the radio as I mention in the video, those are the firmware levels of the current PDIM module. There are several part numbers that would upgrade your Cruze Eco to Bluetooth, I list them in the description. Just make sure your Cruze passes the other pre-checks I go over in the video to insure a smooth upgrade experience.
Hi! This video is super helpful... I'm curious if what module would be best for a 2013 cruze with a MyLink radio and eco trim. After looking at several forums online, the GM 23340430 module and ACDelco 22829142 GM module are my final two. Any thoughts? Thank you!!
I provide some of the other older part numbers in the video description. But GM only offers one PDIM, with all the other parts being superseded and discontinued versions. At the time of the video, the one I showed with a yellow label was the latest in production PDIM. Alot of the earlier, now discontinued, parts had a blue label for example. IMO the current in-production GM PDIM is the one to get, unless you're trying to save some money. The primary difference is that the latest part number is going to have the highest device compatibility, as it has the newest firmware addressing both bugs and newer Bluetooth versions.
GM discontinued this part during the pandemic. So a saved searching using the search link in the description is your best bet for NOS, or used. Salvage yard from a Camaro is another option.
Just now watching this on 5/2/22. As of today, are there anymore of these Bluetooth PDIM’s for sale? Any active links? I have looked everywhere and want to ask here before I start going through junk yards. Thanks I’m advance.
The part seems to have gone constrained backorder when Covid first set in, and now seems to be marked discontinued altogether. Finding one online would be limited to eBay. I list all the part numbers either myself or others have had experience with working in the description. A salvage yard would be another route.
Those SW and HW versions are just for reference to confirm you got something different after the upgrade, as a quick means of checking communications between the radio and the PDIM. I'd rely more on your having the existing option KTA harness installed (option sticker, USB jack, etc) to insure the radio is compatible as I showed in the vid. If your Cruze doesn't already have option KTA, then you can't do just this upgrade because you don't have the base white label unit to upgrade from.
@@DrShock the only thing I wanna know is will this work for ipods?. And will it display the artist and song information on the screen when you play a song?
Yes it works with iPod, but it's wireless bluetooth, so there's no artist info or such as it's not a direct iPod integration. It's meant to be generic so it will work with iPads, iPhones, iPods, Androids, and even your PC or MacBook. Anything that supports the A2DP streaming profile. All you see on the radio display during playback is what I show starting at 15:11.
The controls are going to be the same as you have with the AUX input. Doing this PDIM upgrade adds an additional source input, Bluetooth streaming audio, to what you already have with aux. Those button functions may be USB/legacy iPod related functionality, which is a bit more than aux/bluetooth.
Do you have to reconnect every time or will it connect automatically? Do I have to choose my phone every time or can I just start car and play music straight away?
In my experience it reconnects automatically. You can only have one device paired with it at a time though. Now I don't use the OnStar hands free feature (the other Bluetooth receiver in the car I mentioned) so if you do your mileage may vary.
I know the Cruze and the Equinox share design and electronics elements. I have a 2010 Equinox LT with the Bluetooth option for hands free phone use. I want to add the Bluetooth streaming like you describe in this video. Do you know if I could add a module like shown here or if there are other options or requirements for me to do this? My SPID does list KTA option. BTW, great video!
There is some overlap, but not year to year parity. While I've only done this mod on Cruzes, and seen it installed in Camaros, I have came across forum articles on doing this in the Equinox also. I did a quick google to refresh what I've read, and you'll find some posts that indicate this was only possible thru 2011 as the electronics changed in 2012 for the Equinox. Whether that's true, or those posters had nav radios instead of base ones who knows. If this were me, I'd read up on these forum posts for those experiences, and then do the disassembly on the 2010 to see if it had the base PDIM installed there before trying to do the Bluetooth PDIM upgrade. All the same pre-req checks I show for the Cruze would still apply.
@@DrShock I confirmed that I have the RPO code KTA and my aux input still functions properly. My PDIM box is part # 20893389 and is very easy to get to. I am going to order a new PMID and see what happens.
@@DrShock Well I had a bit of concern prior to ordering the new module. I was not successful in getting the radio to provide the hardware and software ID of the old module. I had to remove the drivers side of the center console (which was fairly easy) and I was able to see the original module. I decided to take the gamble and purchased a Bluetooth module (the same GM part number you used). Took several days for the new module to come in. Good news. I swapped out the module and then followed the same steps you did to connect and it all works great. So now we both know that if a 2010 Equinox with the RPO code of KTA, can support this same upgrade. Thanks again for this video and info.
If its completely dead it won't report its firmware and hardware versions during one of the checks I show in this video. If it's just partially failed, you'll have no aux in or USB input working (both dead). Could be other fail paths, but I'd expect those to be the more common.
Now I guess I should point out, presuming you may not have owned the car beforehand, that if you never actually eyeballed the PDIM working and nothing works at all - it might be missing. Some folks do yank out the strangest parts when selling.
@@DrShock yes, i bought the car a year ago, but its completely working when i buy it, last month only when the battery are drained, i checked the fuse and it's all working so i came up with another problem maybe the pdim
Well what you could do is use this video for how to disassemble, so you can get to the PDIM and inspect it. If the radio works then sometimes it could just be a harness has came loose, something simple.
Haven't tried past 2014, and didn't see any forum posts about that year. If you pass all the option KTA checks in the video though, it may work as long as you have the white label PDIM already there. Let us know if so.
@@DrShock Okay, getting around to this soon. All compatibility checks seem to be satisfied (KTA, USB/Aux, plugged in iPhone shows info after holding menu, etc.). I'll have to check and see if I have the white label PDIM. Only question: When holding the menu button, my HW ID is the same (DB), but my SW ID is different (DF). Do you think it's simply a slightly revised/updated version of the software, and shouldn't affect the KTB upgrade? I have the same standard radio/interface/console as the one shown in the video.
@@DrShock I can confirm that 20893388 does work in a 2015. However, my drive side door speaker is not working, and unfortunately I had the window regulator/motor replaced the day before by a guy who works on some of my cars. Should I go ahead and assume loose wiring or a short from when the regulator was installed? I can't imagine it being anything wire related because I replaced the multimedia module, correct?
Without KTA there will be no harness to plug into, and likely the radio would lack the correct firmware level to communicate with the module. What this mod is really is a KTA to KTB upgrade, which was only made available on the Camaro in the USA, not the Cruze. To do it without already having KTA, you'll have to pull the missing parts (radio, USB and PDIM wiring harnesses) from a salvage yard Cruze first before this would work.
I couldn't say for sure, but if you gained access to your current PDIM and it resembled the one from the Cruze it's possible. This Bluetooth PDIM is actually from the Camaro since the USA Cruze never offered this option. GM reused parts in several vehicles from time to time.
GM unfortunately discontinued this part a few years after this video came out. So eBay for an used one or left over new stock (link in the description) is about it.
I've not seen anyone comment about that application yet. You would have to pioneer that by opening up your truck and seeing if there is a white label PDIM in there already.
I did a little google fu and see that folks have done this mod on Terrains and Equinoxes as well. So you would not be as must of a pioneer as a thought. Might want to check out some of those forum posts for pointers before you proceed.
It would be a much larger job where you would need a salvage car to pull the parts to assemble all the missing components. You would need the compatible radio head unit, the PDIM, the wiring harness between them, the harness to the center console, and the aux/USB module that plugs into the center console harness. And any brackets or fasteners for all of the above that are unique as well.
@@DrShock I've confirmed now that I don't have any of that. Thought as much about changing all the associated with that setup. Thank you for the feedback
This was never a factory option on any Cruze in the USA, only the Camaro. Fortunately the Cruze shares the same harness layout so the mod was able to work. But its a mod, not a factory option upgrade. Personally I think Chevy planned to offer it but never followed thru, as you can see the _phantom_ entries in the earlier year parts books that never actually got built like at oemcats.com.
I can't speak about these PDIMs with experience on other vehicle models. But for the Chevrolet Cruze first generation I've done several of these PDIM upgrades, and there's no programming required as long as you have the pre-requisite RPO KTA option parts I go over _in detail_ within the video. I own all the GM dealer programming tools (see my other videos on the Tech2 and MDI) so I'm quite familiar with when programming is and isn't needed. Now if your 1st gen Cruze doesn't have these pre-reqs I go over, well then yeah you may be facing a factory radio upgrade and possible programming to bring it up to par. But then this video isn't about that as it would be much more involved.
I noticed by the time I find your videos for the chevy cruze upgrades that the parts have been discontinued. Seriously no where in earth. I went to a junkyard to look for them in wrecked cars. All pulled already. 🤦
Likely all victims of the great Covid pandemic of 2020 parts shortage and later cancellation. Sadly, these parts are never coming back, as the chips needed to make them were needed elsewhere for newer models. I've also ran into parts cancellations for vehicles as recent as 2019 and 2020 model years as well.
If that's the same platform as the Chevrolet Cruze then I would expect yes, but I have no experience with Holden specifially. Only for the years mentioned though.
You should be OK, but if it were me I'd do the disassembly first and confirm you have the same _white label_ PDIM and only then procure one of the _blue_ or _yellow_ label ones that have the Bluetooth radio inside.
@@DrShock Can you also let me know if everything sounds perfect. (the pre-checks), then would this be a good choice: www.ebay.com/itm/352905184064?ul_noapp=true
Hey np, if your 2012 LTZ RS passes all the checks I showed in the video then yes it would. This mod pre-reqs option KTA for the base wiring, and in the video I go over how to make sure the car was originally built with that option as well as to make sure it hasn't been removed or modified by a previous owner.
I have a 13 ltz rs cruze and it came with all these functions already so it must have that module in it already, mine has a screen though cause it came with navigation from the factory
eBay, there's a search link in the description. This particular PDIM part is not normally stocked at the GM dealer, but you could also special order one from your local Chevrolet dealer or online genuine GM parts supplier.
@@fanboyMatt1215 This part was never used in the USA on a Cruze, it's a Camaro part. So you have to just buy the Camaro part number I showed, and linked in the description. It won't show up on any Cruze parts or options listing.
That's going to be a really long wait, as this part never shipped on Cruze's in the USA. So you'll be left checking just Camaros' of the 2011-2014 range for *KTB* on the options sticker, but it was an uncommon option there. Could be on an Equinox or Terrain also. Perhaps Cadillac SRX. If you want it sooner it'll have to be a buy from eBay or a GM dealer.
Yes, mentioned that GM decided not to offer on the North American market Cruze models, only the Camaro. Some more background in the video description, but the whole point of the video is to add the Camaro part to the Cruze since GM did pre-program the radio and pre-wire it as part of RPO KTA.
What about the other check, where you see KTA on the option code sticker? And is both the USB and AUX port functional? If both of those are there, you are probably OK.
You're not going to find one of these in a salvage yard unless you wait a very long time. No Cruze came with this from the factory in the USA, so you'll left with checking Camaros of 2011-2014 with *KTB* on the options sticker, but it's an uncommon option. If you want to have it in the short term, you'll have to buy a new one from GM.
@@DrShock so I have a few of them in my local junk yard, do you know the year they came in? Also any other comparable modules from other cars that you know of?
The *KTB* option PDIM was unique to Chevrolet, and only used on the Camaro and Cruze models in various countries according to the GM parts info. From late 2011 thru the current Camaro.
Camaro is the only factory source in a salvage yard. None in the USA would have come with it from GM. You _might_ get lucky in that someone made this same mod on a wreck salvage yard Cruze but odds are probably more in your favor to play lotto. ;-)
Just clicked them, both come up fine. Are you outside the USA? These links are for the US eBay.com website. This type of GM part is not available on Amazon.
I have the KTA RPO, I have both the USB and Aux inputs, but with either an Android or iPhone plugged in while in Aux mode, after I press menu, nothing happens, and after I long press, still nothing happens. Does this mean I am out of luck? The Bluetooth symbol shows though. th-cam.com/video/AnkDk0SHTio/w-d-xo.html
Did you connect the phones via the aux jack or usb? For that menu check you want to plug in via usb only. That menu check is just to _prove_ the before/after for the upgrade as well as confirm communications to the original white label PDIM. If you're not getting anything with usb connected and menu long press, I wouldn't give up yet. Could be a defective PDIM afterall. I'd open up the panel and see if you find the little guy tucked in there.
Well I’m late on this post. I want to do the same upgrade to my 2012 eco Cruze automatic transmission. I looked up Genuine GM Center Console 23340430 on eBay but it says it doesn’t fit my vehicle. Should I disregard eBays observation? Thanks
Yeah, I mention between the video and description details about this module only shipping in the Camaro for the USA. So all those catalogs, including the GM one, will say it doesn't fit. But video doesn't lie. ;-)
Wow thanks for the quick reply. So mine has KTA , usb and aux jack in the console. This is my sons car and will save me about $600. I was gonna just upgrade the radio,so this is awesome. Thanks again
22829145 does NOT work for the 2015 cruze....Found one, waited, got it, hooked it up, and it takes away auxiliary. Phone still works for calls, but that's it. PHUCKING PHUCK PHUCK PHUCK!!!!!!! What a pain in the ass
Others have *not* commented that that number works. But 22829143 has been commented to work. Did bluetooth streaming work with the 22829145 even though the aux-in stopped?
I have KTF. My Cruze is fully loaded. USB/AUX, On-Star BT, Nav screen. I refuse to believe I can’t add this. If it’s not cheap, I’m going with the full Android Tesla style screen and I’ll make my OEM Pioneer system work. 🫠
I have a chevy cruze 2013 diesel 2 l. I ordered the PDIM. I try to install it on my car but I did not see a PDIM in my car. there is a place for that but it is empty and I dont see the cable to connect it on my car. please can you help me
It's *very* important you do not skip and complete _all_ of the prerequisite tests I go over in the beginning of the video. If your Cruze fails _any_ of them, you cannot perform this mod.
Hello. Where can I buy a similar module? I did not see it on eBay.
GM has discontinued these parts since this video was made. So you’ll have to set a search alert until one pops up. Be sure you use the links in the description (there are two) as one searches for the previously discontinued numbers. Any will work for this mod so you could put a watch on both sets of numbers.
Thank you very much.
Followed this video years ago to get Bluetooth in my car and could never find it again and have gone through several new phones and always been without Bluetooth since. today I was blessed and found your video again thank you 🙏🏻 😂 I could not figure out how to get to Bluetooth music settings

Hey. Is there a build code that I should look at when going through a wrecker to narrow down what cars have the Bluetooth module
Great Video!! It work for me, awesome!! Thank you
Yep, I did a comprehensive search and can't find the new module for my 2014 Lt.
After this upgrade can you use the steering wheel buttons to skip song?
My cruze has the auxiliary input, but no USB. And my part ID in the glove box says KCL KC7 and KF, but no KTA. Would this still be possible for mine?
You would be missing the wiring harness for a PDIM, and you may not have a radio with the support built in for one. If I had your situation, I'd visit a salvage yard and attempt to pull the option KTA parts you're missing (harness from the center console to the PDIM, and from the PDIM to the radio). I'd also bring along the radio from the donor vehicle, just in case yours doesn't have the support (the base radio has two versions and the non-KTA option one is reported to not won't work with the PDIM option).
I'm going to see if I can find one module from a camaro, the thing is that I don't know were this module is in the camaro, do you know?
Roughly in the same place as the Cruze, center console area.
What if your iPhone doesn’t have a headphone jack would it still work if I put it in the charger port?
This upgrade is a Bluetooth option, it would stream music over the air without any cables whatsoever.
Will a PDIM in a newer cruze models that have the touchscreen work ? Thanks
No, different wiring harness and communications protocol than the earlier generation Cruze radio.
With new module do I have to plug in phone to play iPod or does it play iPod with out cord in USB port in console
It would be the like a pair of bluetooth speakers right. Anything you can play over a bluetooth speaker, you can stream into the radio with this mod upgrade. So there's no iPod controls done wirelessly, just streaming audio. If you want iPod controls, you need to do it wired over USB.
Please, please answer my question, I do not have a bluetooth option on the radio. If I do as you did, will the bluetooth option appear for me?
This upgrade builds on existing wiring and programming. So it will only work if your car passes all the pre-checks I go over in the video.
So I have a 2014 Chevy Camaro LS, my question is..... can this work for me too?
This PDIM with Bluetooth is originally a Camaro option, just happens to be compatible with the Cruze also. So while I know it's compatible with some Camaros - I can't tell you how to install it or what the pre-reqs are for compatibility because I've not worked on a Camaro before.
Hi ,why this pdim doesn't work with hands free call? .that's a shame. There's not other who works with both for the chevy cruze 2012
Config/phone/bluetooth states "not available"
Config/phone/factory settings/restore factory settings - just hangs with a "please wait..." message.

@@DrShock thank you. I will look into this idea. Unfortunately our wrecking yards are far more expensive for used parts than what it is in the USA. But still a valid avenue to research.

Hello, would this change work on Equinox 2014 LS?
So I have an android and when I plug it into the USB it doesn't give any audio and when I try to hold down the menu button nothing happens. All of the other checks are good but I can't figure this one out. Any ideas?
What was the GM part number of the PDIM you upgraded to?
@@DrShock I haven't upgraded it yet. I want to put in the gm 23340430. Just want to make sure it will work if I get it
Ok, so the gm 23340430 will work in my car?
That's the one I used, there's actually several iterations of this part from GM that are listed in the description. I only list part numbers that folks have commented on that worked for them. All of these are discontinued by GM since the pandemic hit, so finding used or new old stock (NOS) are the only routes now.

I just replace mine and the Bluetooth works as expected. however, my ac/hv is not working now. Is there any way this could go wrong and affect my AC/HV module/siystem? Chevy 2014 LT turbocharged
You may have introduced a loose connection with the AC control module being right above where you were working.
my cruze has usb, audio jack and the menu result, but there’s no sticker in the glove box to confirm KTA, is there another way to confirm the correct loom? thanks from australia!
@@DrShock i couldn’t find the sticker, but as you say, accessing the PDIM was straight forward and ive got the 20985754 PIDM.
Would this work on a 2014 equinox
Do I still need cord after change for bluetooth
I have a 2011 chevy cruze and I have a samsung galaxy note 20 ultra, it just says when I plug it in the USB port PFD
SCH-1415 , it also says no data found.
I have a chevy 2012 with only aux..what do you recommand?
Cruze? Then this video is for you. ;-)
Hello sir i have a 2011 chevy cruze ls. And comes with no bluetooth. Will this upgrade work on my car?
In the vid I go over all the pre-req checks to answer this. Depends on the cars original options.
Yes, ive tried a new cable, new iphone software update......(im starting to think it was the new update that did it in.....)
any comments?
It's possible that it's software related, like the iOS update introducing some incompatibility. If you have the Bluetooth PDIM upgrade that this video goes over, try forgetting the iPhone in the radio menu and relearning it. If you have the base PDIM (aux and USB only) then I'd try the following:
- Pull the radio fuse to completely power down the entertainment modules.
I have a pdim in my 2014 manual cruze but it looks to be a different one than the one you pulled out of yours. Will it still work?
If your 2014 passed the checks I go thru in the video, you should still be gtg. The center console disassembly will be a little different for a manual transmission setup, I give some pointers for that in the description though.
Do you think the PDIM from a 2012 Camero would work, and also where are they located in the car. Thanks. Sorry for all the questions
@DrShock do you know if it is located in generally the same location as the cruze
Yes, I believe it's in the center console area near the radio head unit though of course not the same exact area as the Cruze. You might peruse a Camaro forum or two for folks going over replacing one to confirm the exact access procedure.
Do you know where i could get a mylink infotainment system for a 2012 Cruze? I seen a 2012 eco with one and a guy on here do one
That would only be a 2013 and up option, there was no GM upgrade kit for this on earlier years. Believe the only path here is an aftermarket harness and picking up the receiver, display and trim bezels from a salvage yard vehicle.
@@DrShock thanks for the response
HI DrShock, you mentioned briefly in your video that the upgrade gives the car 2 radios, but will we be able to control the music streaming with the center dashboard radio or the steering wheel controls?
The Bluetooth radio this upgrade adds for streaming behaves the same as aux-in music controls wise since the PDIM handles both inputs. The other Bluetooth radio is the one that handles hands free calling for your smartphone.
Will this change the language of my current onstar system
As mentioned in the video, has nothing to do with OnStar system. Totally separate.
This mod will add Bluetooth audio streaming to a 2012 Cruze, presuming all the pre-reqs I go over in the vid are met.
do you know anything about replacing 2-line screen with a 4-line screen just like the one you have
I've never encountered a smaller display screen module on a USA 1st generation Cruze of the years this video covers.
@@DrShock found a closer one imgur.com/zvTaKZV what do you think do i have any chance to get 4-line screen work by just replacing and reprogramming it for the VIN code
+ read again and think you get it wrong, in there are also 4-line screens used in other models of cruze, here in europe. so i can find both radio+display modules together :)
If you can find an in-country pair of modules, that would be your best bet and just deal with VIN unlocking. That connector you show on the radio module looks the same as the USA ones, the connector on the display module was what I was trying to see. But it's not important, grab the matched pair in-country.
Does this work with a 2016 cruze limited 1LT?
First, let me point out these Bluetooth modules have been discontinued by GM for a few years now. There are search links in the description by GM part number, but you may have to hunt for them. The 2016 Cruze Limited is _supposed_ to be the same as the 2015 but there were some differences here and there. You would have to open up the center console to see if you see the same PDIM there as shown in the vid, and you would need to see that the radio responds to the same firmware version readout as well.
I dont find the part.. I have a chevy cruze 2012 with no bluetooth :(
Would i need these same parts to add on to my link radio in my 2012 cruze ?
This video is unrelated to MyLink radios, different design there I suspect. MyLink was not original equipment in model year 2012 Cruzes. But I am not familiar with how those are setup so could not advise how to retrofit it.
Excellent video! Is sound volume affected with this upgrade? For example, hearing the radio on full volume is quite loud, but when I use an aux for my own music the volume doesn't get as loud.
I find the volume with the Bluetooth PDIM comparable to the AUX version, but it's possible it varies depending on the PDIM part number used. Just a guess though.
You're the man for this vid I just swapped out the old pdi in my 2015 ls manny cruze and it works better than before your the 🐐🙏🏿✊🏿
What was the pdi you used for the 2015 Cruze? I’m about to swap mine out as well so I can stream music instead of using the USB. Thanks in advance
Would a unit from a 2012 Camaro work in my 2011 Chevy Cruze?
Yeah the Cruze never actually came with this option in the USA. Only the Camaro. So we're doing a mod to a Cruze with a Camaro part in this video (though GM discontinued the part during the pandemic). So if you can find one on a Camaro of the same year range as the Cruze, and it's one of the part numbers listed in the video description, it _should_ work. Not all of these modules are compatible with the Cruze BCM, just the ones listed.
@@DrShock I clicked the eBay link in the description and saw 2 listed so the one for $75 from a Camaro would work?
You have to manually eyeball and verify the part number on the module label or box photos matches one of the ones I listed as tested in the Cruze, some online sellers just list every GM part number they can find as search keywords thinking these are all the same.
@@DrShock is there a way I can send you the photo and reassure me it will work ? I am not knowledged with this stuff lol. Sorry
Links in the description for eBay. Your local GM dealer would be another source.
Awesome! I ordered it and was able to add a side mirror knob that is also broken. Thank you! :)
I have a 2015 lt as well first gen.
I hear these work for all first gens for the most part
I know im super late to the video (just bought a 13) but will the hardware/software being DB/DE instead of DB/DD make a difference?
Any update where to find this product?
eBay links in the description are working fine. Only other source would have been your local Chevrolet dealer parts counter, but this part is now discontinued so eBay is it.
My radio has firmware DB/DB. Would this still work on my unit and if so what part number would I need? I’ve got a 2011 Cruze Eco 6MT. thanks!
@@DrShock Do you happen to know what number that is? I cant seem to find it anywhere
I have both linked in the description. Only eBay or your local GM dealer is going to be a source. You can't get them on Amazon.
Does this work with the mylink system?
No, the PDIM option is for the standard radio as seen in the video. This functionality is already built into the MyLink (BYOM) type radio.
Am I still able to get this module at all?
Can I do the same thing to a 2015 Chevy Malibu Ls
I'm only aware of this applying to Cruze and Camaro. But you might look thru the comments to see if someone has mentioned another model.
My software ID says DF but my hardware I'd says DB. Can I still do this upgrade to be able to stream music via bluetooth off my iPod?
Those SW and HW versions are just for reference to confirm you got something different after the upgrade, as a quick means of checking communications between the radio and the PDIM. I'd rely more on your having the existing option KTA harness installed (option sticker, USB jack, etc) to insure the radio is compatible as I showed in the vid. If your Cruze doesn't already have option KTA, then you can't do just this upgrade because you don't have the base white label unit to upgrade from.
@@DrShock I do have the KTA on my label and the usb and aux jack options on my cruze.
You should be gtg then
@@DrShock the only thing I wanna know is will this work for ipods?.
All you see on the radio display during playback is what I show starting at 15:11.
does this work with the steering wheel controls? (using skip song or going back a song)
Let us know how it goes.
@@chrisrivest5459 I have a 2011 equinox..what part number do I need to make it work..or possibly know what car to look for one in a scrap yard
How to know if the pdim is not working? Thank you
If its completely dead it won't report its firmware and hardware versions during one of the checks I show in this video. If it's just partially failed, you'll have no aux in or USB input working (both dead). Could be other fail paths, but I'd expect those to be the more common.
@@DrShock it's all not working, No audio and aux displayed only radio but no sound also, thankyou for you're time it's a big help 😉
I just got a 2015 Chevy Cruze. Will this not work, or do I need something different?
Haven't tried past 2014, and didn't see any forum posts about that year. If you pass all the option KTA checks in the video though, it may work as long as you have the white label PDIM already there. Let us know if so.
@@DrShock Thanks for the response. I will reply with an answer if I try this.
@@nilesg75 Yeah, these HW/SW ID checks are just to confirm that they change with the upgrade. There's no real importance to them aside from that.
I can't imagine it being anything wire related because I replaced the multimedia module, correct?
well this work for chevy cruze lt turbo 2012?
If you pass all the pre-req checks shown in the video, yes.
If I don't have KTA but all the other qualifications, can I still upgrade?
Without KTA there will be no harness to plug into, and likely the radio would lack the correct firmware level to communicate with the module. What this mod is really is a KTA to KTB upgrade, which was only made available on the Camaro in the USA, not the Cruze. To do it without already having KTA, you'll have to pull the missing parts (radio, USB and PDIM wiring harnesses) from a salvage yard Cruze first before this would work.
Will this work with an android phone?
It used to when it was new, this is a very old discontinued GM option now so more recent Android updates could have changed the compatibility.
Will this also support non-apple phones?
Android yes. Though I don't believe GM tested beyond the most common brands and versions of that period in time. Samsung I know works fine.
Does this work on the chevrolet orlando
I couldn't say for sure, but if you gained access to your current PDIM and it resembled the one from the Cruze it's possible. This Bluetooth PDIM is actually from the Camaro since the USA Cruze never offered this option. GM reused parts in several vehicles from time to time.
Hello. Where can i buy like this? Please let me know. Thanks
GM unfortunately discontinued this part a few years after this video came out. So eBay for an used one or left over new stock (link in the description) is about it.
Do you think it will work on a GMC TERRAIN 2010? Thanks
I've not seen anyone comment about that application yet. You would have to pioneer that by opening up your truck and seeing if there is a white label PDIM in there already.
@@DrShock Yes I already checked that. There is a PDIM 20893389 installed.
I did a little google fu and see that folks have done this mod on Terrains and Equinoxes as well. So you would not be as must of a pioneer as a thought. Might want to check out some of those forum posts for pointers before you proceed.
If my car doesn't have that? What can I do?
It would be a much larger job where you would need a salvage car to pull the parts to assemble all the missing components. You would need the compatible radio head unit, the PDIM, the wiring harness between them, the harness to the center console, and the aux/USB module that plugs into the center console harness. And any brackets or fasteners for all of the above that are unique as well.
@@DrShock I've confirmed now that I don't have any of that. Thought as much about changing all the associated with that setup. Thank you for the feedback
Would this work to stream music via bluetooth with an ipod touch?
Yep, I've tested this with an iPod Touch 6th generation. If you can send it to a Bluetooth speaker, you can send it to your Cruze with this upgrade.
@@DrShock okay sweet because my jack on my iPod is jacked up and any little wiggle to it causes it to loose connection to the vehicle.
This part number says it doesn't work with my 2014 cruze. Got another one for a 2014 with correct part number?
This was never a factory option on any Cruze in the USA, only the Camaro. Fortunately the Cruze shares the same harness layout so the mod was able to work. But its a mod, not a factory option upgrade. Personally I think Chevy planned to offer it but never followed thru, as you can see the _phantom_ entries in the earlier year parts books that never actually got built like at oemcats.com.
@@DrShock so this interface part you used will actually work in my 2014?. It's like $200 thru the dealer and I can't return it if it doesn't work lol.
I heard that if you do this, you would have to go to the dealer to program the computer to recognize it.
You definitely right. I plugged that bad boy in and it was better plug and play than USB flash drive.
Thank you so much.
I've also ran into parts cancellations for vehicles as recent as 2019 and 2020 model years as well.
will this work on Australian Made Holden Cruze 2013 ??
If that's the same platform as the Chevrolet Cruze then I would expect yes, but I have no experience with Holden specifially. Only for the years mentioned though.
DrShock yes, mine is spitting copy of this one youre working on
You should be OK, but if it were me I'd do the disassembly first and confirm you have the same _white label_ PDIM and only then procure one of the _blue_ or _yellow_ label ones that have the Bluetooth radio inside.

@@DrShock thank you
What would be my best bet for finding this module in the junk yard
That's going to be a really long wait, as this part never shipped on Cruze's in the USA. So you'll be left checking just Camaros' of the 2011-2014 range for *KTB* on the options sticker, but it was an uncommon option there. Could be on an Equinox or Terrain also. Perhaps Cadillac SRX. If you want it sooner it'll have to be a buy from eBay or a GM dealer.
When i searched the number it says for a Camaro
Yes, mentioned that GM decided not to offer on the North American market Cruze models, only the Camaro. Some more background in the video description, but the whole point of the video is to add the Camaro part to the Cruze since GM did pre-program the radio and pre-wire it as part of RPO KTA.
I see the KTA and AUX/USB ports, but nothing happens when I press the MENU SEL button, will this work for my car?
What about the other check, where you see KTA on the option code sticker? And is both the USB and AUX port functional? If both of those are there, you are probably OK.
I wanna get one tomorrow, what car in the junk yard would have this module
@@DrShock Do you know if any of the chezy cruze model years came with the A2DP modules?
Camaro is the only factory source in a salvage yard. None in the USA would have come with it from GM. You _might_ get lucky in that someone made this same mod on a wreck salvage yard Cruze but odds are probably more in your favor to play lotto. ;-)

@@DrShock I used the USB input. Are you saying I may already have a Bluetooth a2DP PDIM? I guess I will have to look. Maybe tomorrow.
Wonder if this will work on a 2013 suburban
22829145 does NOT work for the 2015 cruze....Found one, waited, got it, hooked it up, and it takes away auxiliary. Phone still works for calls, but that's it. PHUCKING PHUCK PHUCK PHUCK!!!!!!! What a pain in the ass
Others have *not* commented that that number works. But 22829143 has been commented to work. Did bluetooth streaming work with the 22829145 even though the aux-in stopped?
@@DrShock No sir. Only thing changed is no aux. And this PDIM had the Bluetooth symbol on it
Everything is unavailable to buy now. If you do find it they want your first born kid as a down-payment haha
the sound quality remains the same
Yes of course. Still the same speakers and audio electronics involved. All this adds is a new input channel over Bluetooth.
Thats the number i should look? 23340430?
Thats one GM part number. The description lists others.
I try to install it on my car
but I did not see a PDIM in my car. there is a place for that but it is empty and I dont see the cable to connect it on my car. please can you help me
It's *very* important you do not skip and complete _all_ of the prerequisite tests I go over in the beginning of the video. If your Cruze fails _any_ of them, you cannot perform this mod.
