    I made the dealer disable the onstar in my brand new chevy truck before I bought it in 2012. They unplugged the CANN network power connector to the onstar module. As she said, the bluetooth was also disabled but I never use it anyhow. No spyware for this guy! Funny thing is that GM mailed me a veiled threatening letter telling me to re-enable it or they could void my warranty (because they could not monitor the oil change timer or any computer error codes or other problems) and also that they would not be responsible for my safety (in an accident, theft or being locked out of the vehicle) even though I wasn't an onstar subscriber for these services. I told them that I didn't care about that and that they had no business or right in monitoring my vehicle unless I gave them such permission in the first place. I had my lawyer to write them a nice letter that advised them to leave the warranty alone and fully in tact unless they wanted to get sued because there was no consensual agreement made nor any law regarding warranty matters with involuntary remote monitoring. They left me alone afterward.

    Smart lady! I had mine disconnected by the dealership as a requirement for purchase. The only other problem is the radio likely has a integrated Sirius XM transceiver which sends out a GPS ID and location signal as well as receives the satellite signals. The cops allegedly have access to this data without a warrant by simply asking Sirius XM for it via a phone call according to the many youtube police chase videos that I've watched. They can do the same with your cell phone too. So unless you get rid of or disable the satellite ready radio as well, your car can still be tracked by the government.

    No it’s not Crazy! You are right! I hate their monitoring. When I need service or an oil change, they do crazy things like: roll all my windows down, make the alarm sound, activate my theft alarm to report car stolen, unlock all my door after I lock them. They have too much power. I will never buy a GM vehicle again! 😊

    I love my onstar sheeple tracking device, I can activate stolen vehicle slowdown mode if ever I get carjacked due to my lack of self defense capabilities because I am anti gun. I also like to link my npc bot consciousness to the saturn black cube hivemind AI through the constant listening via microphone, in order to synchronize with the cloud. If I ever fall out of line and get turned into a dissident, the good ppl in positions of authority can just disable my vehicle or geofence my travel limited to my 15 minute city. All jokes aside great video!

    Thank you SO much for this video. So if you unplug that wire from the box under the glove compartment, that will completely disable OnStar? Does that affect your Bluetooth capabilities like how removing the fuse does? I really like to listen to music via Bluetooth.

    I’m not entirely sure just removing that wire to the onstar box works. I pulled that cord on mine a couple months ago but I’ve still been getting health reports and the tire pressure are accurate

    hello. A question, when I press the onstar button on my Chevrolet, it tells me: *cellular network not available, try again later", and I can't get out of there. It doesn't work and there is no communication with either the application or the truck. What could it be? Thank you very much.

    I won’t buy any GM vehicle again. If you don’t agree to Onstar terms and conditions, GM will display a warning messgae on the radio screen every time you start the car. They instruct their dealer not to disable this warning unless the owner agrees to sign up for onstar. Onstar should have gone away when cell phones became popular, just like the phones that used to be on airplanes. Even worse, GM now requires the customer to purchase onstar on some new vehicles.

    • @Zzz-cx5up
      @Zzz-cx5up 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because like with anything gov surveillance related, disconnecting the fuse and plug doesn’t always disable tracking. For example, if you disconnect your cell phone battery they can definitely still monitor your location and microphone.

    My Manuel doesn't show or tell which fuse to remove.

    • @rollcoalrose
      @rollcoalrose  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What vehicle do you have? The manual won't typically show fuse layouts. If you have a 1st gen Chevy Cruze, the fuse is shown in detail in this video. On GM cars it is "Infotainment System/Hands Free Phone". Removing fuse will also remove power to other items, such as your digital compass and hands free phone.

    • @user-vk2cd9qw7i
      @user-vk2cd9qw7i 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can google a fuse layout for your vehicle. If you still can't find a diagram contact your local dealer and they should have one.

    Yeah the onstar system will continue to gather data on everything you do from speeds, locations, duration of stay, and that data is then sent to the manufacturer to be sold off

  • @texascop
    @texascop หลายเดือนก่อน

    Actually, GM just got caught mining data selling it to auto insurance companies, ie monitoring your daily driving to rate your insurance. There's a big lawsuit that's ongoing about this issue. So this lady isn't crazy it's happening unbeknownst to the people who have onstar.

    Two things I don't want in my vehicle. OnStar and Siriues XM, but anyways. I am not in the market for US brands, so those wont come in my new vehicle since I'll be looking for something reliable as a Japanese car.

    • @RefillableBicLighters
      @RefillableBicLighters หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well guess what? Nissan is Japanese and they’re the worst out of all the car companies. Go read the article on Privacy Not Included. Here’s some highlights for you:
      “They (Nissan) come right out and say they can collect and share your sexual activity, health diagnosis data, and genetic information and other sensitive personal information for targeted marketing purposes. We absolutely aren't making that up. It says so in their Nissan USA privacy notice. And that's not all! They also say they can share and even sell "Inferences drawn from any Personal Data collected to create a profile about a consumer reflecting the consumer’s preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes"
      So fu*ked up.

      Linus Tech Tips released a video exposing how GM sells your data to brokers who then sell to insurance companies. People have been denied insurance coverage. If you're not worried about the government fine. That's your prerogative but there are still downsides to corporations collecting your data.

    • @ConnerHall
      @ConnerHall 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      This is the dumbest take I've ever read. No one is using this to steal cars. If you're stealing cars, you can do it by just breaking antennas. I used this tutorial to disable the tracking in my car. I don't owe it to the insurance companies to abuse my data. I don't owe the government or GM my data either. If they want it, they can pay ME for it. People need to preserve their rights. We need to legalize and codify privacy. Stop backing down and giving away your freedom.
