I wanted to publish a report of the Volunteer Bureau (West Berkshire) Event at the Corn Exchange today(13th January MMXX4 CE), but I was refused entry with a camera.
Garry Poulson (Director) refused to give a reason, although I had been invited. Perhaps, in future, they should advertise the event: - ‘NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOING PERMITTED’. With signs to that effect also, confiscating all smartphones (cameras), upon entry.

It's great of you to highlight this event, but it's illegal to film in a private space without permission. Theatres, shops, libraries are all private spaces which the public are allowed to enter. The owner/manager of the space also has the right to deny or approve permission to film or take photos. They also have the ability to ban you from entering them, if they wish. The Corn Exchange IS a private space and you had no right to film in there without permission.
Also, you didn't have the right to film anyone in there without their permission. Once again, it's a private space.
You really need to look into the law before sticking your camera into other peoples' spaces without permission.

The use of smartphone cameras is universal at theatres, soccer matches, etc:, now deemed to be public places, where they are permitted.
