  • King Dinosaur - Atomic Age and Stone Age collide when a new planet appears in our solar system, within sight of Earth, prompting a two-man, two-woman rocket flight that finds giant animals and reptiles, some reminiscent of our planet's prehistoric monsters. A key early low budget Bert I. Gordon production with the "prehistoric monsters" played by a magnified iguana and other lizards!
1955. Stars: William Bryant, Wanda Curtis, Douglas Henderson

New planet, no idea what is there, so lets go for a moonlight stroll and make out. I have to say, the first part up until launch was pretty good, but having stood beside a V-2, I have to laugh at the scene of it on the pad as they get set to take off, with the guys up top of the gantry. @garyabbott3861 That does indeed come as a surprise. But as I only recently learned, another cold-blooded, egg-laying direct descendent of dinosaurs, with a brain the approximate size of an almond, is one of the most intelligent animals on the planet - the rough intellectual equivalent of a 7 year old human: the crow. The other members of its family, the corvids, like the kite and the raven, are practically their equals as well. There are videos here on theTube of crows solving problems that I'd swear some of the people I've known would have trouble with.
So I'll take your word for that and keep my eyes open. Thanks!

More than a trip to an unknown planet, it feels like a visit to the zoo. They could have made a T-Rex with stop motion, which was a very well-known technique in the 50s. I wonder why shoot a poor armadillo that was just passing by, or end up destroying everything with an atomic bomb (?), ok They would have a limited budget, but here not even the script is saved from disaster.
