I cant believe I finally found the movie again! I used to have it on VHS but when my VHS player stopped working my mom sold this movie and my other tapes, im so happy to see this again😭
I love that I found this again! Ultimate rainy day nostalgia movie.
I can't believe I had never heard of this movie. I just clicked on it thinking it would be super cheesy. I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved it! Thank you for uploading!
there was a TV show (it was ok), books (very good) and even a trading card set. have fun!
I saw this movie long ago when it was first released. Watched it at least 100 times but never could find it on dvd in full 1080p.
@@kamoonrathewolfgod9189 I had all the DVDs. i don't remember the quality being too great. Most DVDs were not 1080. I still have ISO rips of the discs on a hard drive and recently watched them. the effects really didn't age well.
This is just Dinotopia a miniseries
I thought it said dis-topia!
I'm 85 and grew up with this genre thought it would be old fashioned film but it was great I enjoyed it so much.
As a kid, I grew up reading the brilliantly illustrated books by James Gurney. I was such a fan of dinosaurs when I was younger, so this was perfect. Who wouldn't want to live in a land where humans and dinosaurs lived symbiotically? I even read a couple of books written by other authors about Dinotopia. One was called "The Hand of Dinotopia." And actually featured Will Denison finding charts through a series of clues that showed a way off the island. Of course he didn't leave, but there was an option to. When I found out they made a movie, I was slightly disappointed that they didn't make it based off of the characters Arthur and Will Denison. While that would have been awesome to see, having a new generation of characters go to the island and meet the descendants was just as nice. Great movie. Would recommend to anyone who knows the books or loves dinosaurs. (In a non violent way).
I loved those books my friend got me hooked
I know what you mean, I’ve read them myself but have forgotten some of the stories, used to read them to my children when they were younger….HIGH 5….👍❤️
Hah, I read the book to my son when he was young... He was fascinated with dinosaurs...(true story... I got a tattoo that spells my name in Dyntopian) :D
Dinosaurs movie makes me cry😅
Plenty historical drawings/glyphs of ancient humans alongside dinosaurs i.e. stegosaurus & dimetrodons. These were drawn before 'we' discovered dinosaur fossils.
I used to watch this movie religiously when I was a kid.. LoL's
Still can't believe I've found it after 20 years..
Same I randomly remembered this and unlocked a childhood memory
I can not remember a movie that affected me so much as any before. The story is amazing and the production was so near perfect. Two thumbs up here! "Make More"
Not Bad
When I first heard of "Dinotopia" I was at a mall and went into this bookstore, searching for a good book, I saw a book called "Dinotopia" skimmed through it, and really liked what I read and the illustrations, so I bought it.😲 I found out about this movie they were making of the book and saw it which was this movie.😀 They made a tv series too, which I watched, sadly it was short-lived.😞 So here I am in 2022 watching this movie again after seeing all the Jurassic Park movies and playing Ark SE.😄👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I SAW THIS MOVIE A LONG TIME AGO BUT IT WAS EVEN BETTER THE 2ND TIME. REALLY GREAT FANTASY MOVIE. THANK YOU FOR THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like parts have been cut
They have, the episodes in total should clock in around 4 hr.
There is a part 2 and a part 3
I so hope the DVD set is complete, uncut. 😊 "Isa"
@@FemiNelson-sb1emit is. I have the dvd.
I remember watching this as a child, it came in a cd box with 2 discs because the movie was split into a part 1 and 2. One of my all time favorites
Same here but I’m pretty sure mine was vhs
I remember watching this on television , it was a 3 part miniseries . It was shown over the course of 3 days .
If they only kept the same actors that we have here.
They went and made more episodes without these actors and it went bust, in there ratings! 😮
I recently had to fight and claw and scratch and scrape and bargain and steal to get my hands on a functioning file for the original Dinotopia and it is 4 HOURS LONG. I am not going to devote the 2 hours required to figure out what is missing but if you loved this, the original 3 part miniseries is out there somewhere waiting for you and it is twice as long as this.
@@mitchellgiles6869I was so confused when I came across this as I couldn't see mention of it on Wikipedia. Is it just either part 1 or an edited down version of the mini series?
I currently have the mini series, the series and the animated film downloading an was wondering if I should be looking for this too... YARR
I first discovered this as a book when my daughter was young. She loved the books- beautiful illustrations- and then we found the movie- we were lucky to come across the DVDs, so we have them to watch again and again. Twenty years later, and we still love this story!!
Ah, that's why the title was familiar! Thanks, I wouldn't have remembered that. 😏 I think I've read it, but don't remember the movie, nor the TV series
@@davidbryden7904 Hi. The book was wonderful - beautiful illustrations-. My daughter was entranced each time that we read it. The movie was just like the book. I don't remember a TV series, though. ( We have never had TV- probably why)
Oh. So good for you both. Did not know there were DVDs of this. Thank you for letting us know.
Loved the books when I was a kid. Can’t wait to read them to my daughter.
My VCR broke some time ago and I have the original version of this lovely movie in my collection. It's one of my favorites. When I saw I could see it on line, I was so happy to see it again even though this is an abbreviated version . I enjoyed this just as much.
that's what I noted as well. it's not the full movie.
You know that goodwill has vcrs all the time? Or if you don't have good will find some christian church with a thrift store or something that can voucher it for you
Here we go again, I love it, life is an adventure, it can take you to endless places if you allow it, some places are good, and some bad, you choose.
Watched this movie as a kid over and over and over again
Nearly forgot it but thanks to you i can revisit my childhood again, thank you.
My parents love this Dinotopia movie. They asked me to play for them a while back. It's such a beautiful, majestic, and awesome story ❤️.
I remember reading the books when i was younger. The idea of a society living in peace with dinosaurs facinated me. So i was thrilled when this movie came out!
I wish we could have more movies like this now. Dinotopia is awesome, and I'm making my own story in it!
like a fan fiction?
Yeah, though with a new take on the setting and different kind of plot. More complicated too.
@@sivanlevi3867 that's really cool!
@@sivanlevi3867 I want to subscribe to dinotopia stories.
Hold your horses! I haven't even decided on the characters and the story yet! Plus, I have a history of telling people about my fanfiction, but not making them public. I need to find a format to release them on, I am very slow when it comes to creating large-scale stories, sometimes get stuck in the worldbuilding and barely getting to write, and even then, I'm a little scared and hypersensitive about criticism, especially when it comes to work I am proud of.
Oh! It's this one. We've had it on DVD since they were a fairly new thing and still pull it out to watch occasionally. "Breathe deep!" "Fly high!"
Dinotopia was my sons favorite book 40 years ago. I always thought it would make a wonderful children's movie.
Are you from the future? Because Dinotopia books didn't exist 40 years ago.
@@thetainowarrior9902 Just a little bit of an exaggeration. The first book came out 32 years ago.
I'm blessed to have TWO home recorded VHS of this movie. One from my parents who taped it while I was visiting my grandparents. And another from said grandparents. Has commercials and all! Lol it's nostalgic to just watch the old commercials even. Another plus is the severe thunderstorm warning that flashed on the screen for 1/3 of the tapes, as Texas at the time of one of the episodes was experiencing a pretty bad state-wide storm. Those two tapes really are like time capsules for me. Glad I have two, just in case :P
My first copy of this movie was also taped! It was from the TV premier!
That is insane wow
….
Yop! Just found my copy yesterday. Taped off of ABC Wonderful World of Disney, news and commercials kept in, powerful thunderstorms going through central Maryland that night and they kept cutting in to the show! As much as it angered me then, I still get triggered at the news trying to warn people. But it's a time capsule of 20+ years ago.
I remember dinotopia when it first came out it was back in the early 80s I think I was still in junior high school I'm 52 now it was good then it's good now and 50 years from now it'll still be that good it's like the movie Goonies it never gets old but it's something about dinotopia this always been an excellent movie
What luck! This was a treasure indeed! Truly one of the most fun and beautiful movies I've ever seen! 🦕💕
My mother used to love watching these..I miss her so much🥹
I saw this movie when it first came out and loved it. I saw David Thewlis as Lupin but couldn't remember why he looked familiar all this time (20 years later) and I finally know. I love the Dinotopia books and thought the movies were great companions.
David Thewlis would have made a great Alastair Moody
I dont have many good childhood memories but I remember watching this as a 2 part sci-fi Channel mini movie show that came on when they split the movie into 2 and im glad I get to watch this again to relive what few good times I had as a kid.
this was a series when i was a teen. loved it. 1st time i saw the pilot for it. Excellent
I had a VHS copy of this movie and have been looking for it on DVD. Glad to see it here.
i have it on dvd got it at cvs years ago
This wasn't bad. A mix of Avatar, Jurassic Park, and the Flintstones. A little bit cheesy at times, but overall well-acted and enjoyable. I believe most people who take the almost 2 hours to watch this movie will not be disappointed. Thank you for uploading
For those wondering, this is the miniseries not the series that came later. As of right now Crackle has the longer version of the mini series for free.
I loved this movie as a kid and I still love it as an adult!!!!
Wow. After all this years, I never thought I'd see this movie again. This was my childhood and still gave me the same feeling of inspiration and awe. My inner child thank you.
Absolutely love this movie & the story it tells so eloquently.
Sadly, David has such low self confidence he sabotages himself at first. Then, with the help & encouragement of his classmates, he finds himself & is successful at the schooling he's been assigned to pursue.
Carl can't even be bothered to name the baby triceratops he's given to learn to care for.
Actually, Karl's dinosaur is a Chasmosaurus.
I thought she was a Triceratops at first too, but she's not.
I watched this when it was first aired because I thought both Tyron Leitso and Wentworth Miller were hot. While I enjoyed their presence very much, I found myself charmed by the movie itself. I'm grateful to FilmRise for the upload.
I'm guessing this is a condensed version because the original was a TV miniseries over 3 nights that was 4 hours and 10 minutes total and 6 hours with commercials. I remember watching it on TV when it was released. I like it.
65 and never knew this movie existed. Bravo James Gurney!!!!🤩
I remember growing up with this as a kid. My dad introduced me to this. We were both dinosaur nuts. My favorite dinosaur species was the Triceratops or Chasmosaurus. So 26 was my favorite dinosaur from this. I remember having this vivid dream about this whole thing but I don't think anyone is interested in hearing it.
i’m interested
@@maeva8632 I remember seeing myself as a young thirteen year old boy who was tall for his age, slender in the body, blue eyes, straight, long brown hair that was shoulder length but very thick, full and voluminous. I worn what looked like a black T-shirt and jeans with black leather steel toed boots.
I stowed away on a boat as I was running from someone dangerous and while out at sea. A storm comes and during the chaos on the boat. I fell off the boat, into a lifeboat but washed ashore to Dinotopia.
I'm found by Marion Waldo and Karl Scott. They take me with them as they knew I was shipwrecked. But I don't speak a word to them but I would speak sign language to them which Marion had learned to speak and translate fluently.
As they take me with them. I am surprised that there are dinosaurs still alive on that island. Even if they were extinct everywhere else. But we see a Triceratops looking like it was in pain as it was grunting in pain from something. I'd go to it without thinking and I'd speak out loud for the first time as I managed to calm the Triceratops and it shows me what's bothering it by opening up its mouth and I pulled out a tooth as the dinosaur feels on pain and I hug the dinosaur and just let everyone know "It only had a toothache" Karl and Marion see that I don't seem to talk to people out loud but I talk to the dinosaurs out loud.
They begin to think or suspect I'm not trusting of people yet to talk verbally to them. I meet Karl, Scott and their dad Frank while they notice that I don't talk out loud to them but when Zippo would speak to me. I'd talk to him verbally. They were concerned that I had something bothering me to why I spoke to the dinosaurs but not the people.
I'd show that I'm very intelligent, powerfully strong, much faster than any human should be, helpful towards people of both humans and dinosaurs, and I had this strange ability to heal people of anything with a single touch of my hand. Whenever they ask me what just happened. I'd stoically tell them "I helped it. I took it back" which they oddly understood what it meant.
They begin to wonder how my abilities came to be but they knew I was good. Yet when a fully grown adult human male arrives in Dinotopia in a scientist uniform. This man is armed, dangerous and wants me to come back to him but I do not want to go with him. This man starts to go around the island, causing chaos and fear in others but when he finds me. He tries to get me but Frank, Karl, Scott and a lot of people stand by me and warn him to leave me alone as Frank tells him "You are not laying a hand on my third son" which something about that had a huge amount of confidence rise within me.
This scientist fires off a round at them but I get in front of them and conjure up a bullet proof force field. Me and this scientist have a battle between each other but in the end. I had no choice but to grab the last weapon he had on him. A machete and I warn everyone "Close your eyes" and when they do. They hear a loud scream but the scream was silenced.
After I give them the all clear. They saw that the scientist was laying on the ground with a white sheet over him, it was stained with blood but when any of them got close to the body. I'd tell them "Don't look at it" which of course they saw that I had to do the one thing I didn't want to do in order to keep them all safe. His weapons are dismantled and after a year goes by. I begin to talk to both humans and dinosaurs verbally as they all hailed me as a hero.
I end up with a Sauro-partner which ends up being a Triceratops whom I named Sakura. But than as Karl, Scott, Frank, Zippo, even 26, and others ask me about why the scientist was chasing after me. I figured it would be best to tell them.
I'd explain to them that the scientist found me in a space pod that crash landed on earth and that the scientist started to hire a nanny to look after me as he does his experiments but once when I was five or six and I shown signs of having the ability to heal others with a single touch and that I had the ability to read minds, predict the future. The scientist wanted to experiment on me by trying to transfer my healing power to himself and others but his attempts failed, and his experiments caused me to mutate into a superhuman. Which would explain the majority of my powers and abilities. I told them I escaped and originally wanted to head for Australia but I ended up in Dinotopia which I told them I'd rather be in Dinotopia as I found the family that I've been wanting my whole life.
We all hugged each other and they were surprised that I turned out to be an alien from outer space who got experimented on and had mutations as a result which I looked like any normal human by appearance. But they knew I was a good kid and they welcomed me into the family.
I know that's a lot of detail but how did it sound?
@@brocksampson3405 wow epic
@@digikrypt3566 You thought my dream was good? I'm glad to know that.
This was a fun movie to watch, I would love to watch it again sometime 😊 this movie was made well 👍 ❤
I read this series of books to my children over twenty years ago. The illistrations are beautiful. I highly encourage all to read this book to your children. You will enjoy them to.
Thank you for posting this! I loved this when I was younger. Glad it's still available to watch.
This channel has helped me so much with finding lost childhood favorites.
I love this as a kid my grandpa had a bunch of flat pieces of coal in his backyard and i pretended they were sun stones.
I come here to watch this about once per year. It’s a bummer that it’s a condensed version of the mini series, but still scratches that itch for watching it
Do you know where the unabridged version can be found?
I loved this movie-I even liked the TV show that came after it. Thanks for posting
A great movie. Some whisky and a great movie. What a wonderful evening. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
My youngest son loved Dinosaurs & I sadly do not remember this mini series. So glad I came across this, I so love this movie. My grandson inherited my Son's love for Dinosaurs as well n has a beautiful collection of Toy Dinosaurs. Gracias for uploading this movie. "Isa" 😊
This is one of the few things from my childhood that has helped me calm down. I am greatful this is on youtube because I have it on the list of things that will help me, as someone with aspd and bpd, not freak out and ruin a bunch of people's lives on a wim. I don't really deserve it because I am inherently evil I guess but thank you to whoever has uploaded this.
Si tu es sensible à cette charmante fiction, tout n'est pas perdu !
I remember being 5 going to the store with my mom and she knew I love dinosaurs so she saw this and got it for me I would watch it with my brother right after we would watch Jurassic park man and when I moved to Mexico I would watch the tv show in the morning before school lol anyways I’m 22 now still obsessed with this series
This is the movies before the TV Series coming out. But it is only lasting for only one season, which is sad because to me it has all potential to become a great long run tv show. They never get a chances to. What a bummer.
My favorite series when i was kid ❤❤❤
I love dinosaurs 🦖🦕....I see them every morning at the feeders.... cute nasty little creatures.. 🐦🐦⬛ I ❤them!
If only Dinotopia could be recovered.
God damn nostalgia, youve hit me hard again!!! Didnt even know miller was in this cause i saw it way before prison break.
That sea monster at the end gave me nightmares as a kid
Love this movie. This and the land before time are some of my favorites.
Thank you so much for sharing
God bless
I havent seen this movie in 10 years, glad i found it again.
How I love this movie, a good fun movie to watch….if I’m not mistaken, I think there were a couple of them. I also read the books as well to my children when they were younger, they were into the dinosaurs as well, bought them many Dino toys, and became interested myself…lol…thank you for sharing this, brings back a lot of memories with my children and other family members….👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
always liked this movie, wish they'd been a sequel.
You mean like this? xD it's a tv series which aired shortly after it, the actors are different but still good

What a great series this was on TV, based on the novels way back when. I rate it 👍👍 & 5⭐
Zippo, "Nope". How could anyone hate such a sweet and trusting scalie? He's "proof" that even reptilians need love.
I remember watching this with my dad like 18 years ago I don't remember if it was my parents or Grandparents that got this for me this used to be one of my favorites and the cartoon movie of Dinotopia.
Thank you for this beautiful movies. Vampire are scared of bright light.

It would be great to be in Dinotopia! I have loved dinosaurs since i was 5.
Good family/adventure movie for all ages.
I love this movie but I'm very sad that there were a lot of scenes cut out
Any idea where we can watch the full version?
Crackle has it for free right now, you can also check out if Amazon Prime has the full length episodes. The three episodes each are a little over an hour long. When you’re searching keep in mind this is the miniseries, not the series that came after it.
One of my favorites!
I love 💕 to watch adventure stories and movies, movies like these tend to put me to sleep 😴 and really help me to relax.
Child hood memories ❤ love from India, uattrakhand, malpuri
I remember watching this in a inn in Germany, the only thing I remembered was the Brachiosaurus walking with some 2 legged ornithopods (and maybe the troodon looking dinosaur with the weird human hands). Finally found what the movie was
Marvelous movie , not a second of boredom, I really enjoyed it, I think the best part was that the two brothers were heroes even though they had their squabbles, I new the father would be found , this movie is made for all ages of persons ❤❤❤
Dude I used to watch this movie when I was a little kid. I loved this movie😍
I I grew up with this movie, but sadly this isn't the full thing. There's about an hour or 2 of cut dialog and you can even see how there are some awkward transitions. You technically don't miss out on too much but you get some nice dialog and scenes that flesh out the characters. highly recommend tracking down the full this if you enjoyed this
Love the way Carl does the dog paddle
I remember this movie being 3 hours long. Had to have two VHS tapes to play it. If you can find it, try watching the full length version. It is much better.
I had this one on vhs and dvd
Feel good movies and love oh yeah dinosaurs too..
20 years later they should make a new version of this

Very good graphics, cool sci fi flick, only thing odd was the music from Stargate series.
I remember the contest they did for this as a kid for a robotic dino, i was invested in it and the old games they had on their website
Awesome tv series as well.
