      Dr. Hirsch
      FDA approval means 2 things.
1- whether or not an active ingredient can be used for what is indicated for,
2- the process by which a medication is mass- produced is in compliance with GMP.
Any medication that is furnished by the pharmacy must be FDA approved, whether it has been mass produced or compounded.
In a compounded medication, pharmacist uses a FDA-approved active ingredient (ie Estradiol), compounds a medication based on a prescription for a specific patient.
A compounded pharmacist is well trained professional in his field of work. He/she compounds a medication under guidelines and regulations dictated by the US Pharmacopeia and the State laws where the pharmacy is located.
Also, all hormones used in compounds made by the pharmacy are exactly as what the pharmacy claims it to be. If a pharmacy says the the compounded medicine is organic, you better believe that the compound is organic. A pharmacy is not a flower shop so can advertise a false claim. Or it loses its license.
FDA is not involved in the compounds made at a pharmacy since the compounds are made in very small scale for a specific patient.
The statements you make in this video are innately inaccurate.
Not sure either your knowledge of the profession of pharmacy is limited, or you are too eager to promote products mainly made by the pharmaceutical companies

Is there FDA approved testosterone for women? I have surgical menopause. I am 42. My GYN is through the VA. They're refusing to do any HRT, so I have no choice! I don't have any of my reproductive organs anymore, and I am cisgender, and wanted children. I need something to improve my quality of life! They only have me on vaginal estradiol. It does nothing for my other symptoms! BHRT seems to be my only way to get relief from my other issues.

Bio-identical does not mean estradiol. It means the hormone is recognized by the human body as no different than it’s own generated hormone and is received by receptors as such. Your knowledge is incredibly biased and limited on this topic. How much do you earn annually from the pharma companies with FDA approved hormone products you’re limiting your practice and influence to for prescriptions I wonder.

My Dr. is surgeon and Bio identical hormone specialist
He worked with the top hormone specialist who worked with Suzanne Somers
He is top 3 Hormone specialist in US. Bio identical hormone replacement pellets is the way to go…..then take progesterone orally at night. Best thing I have ever done for myself
People need to see a specialist
My doctor inserted pellet with estrogen and testosterone and then I take progesterone at night. My hormones were so low, 0-12 post menopausal and I suffered from depression and anxiety and brain fog and fatigue and insomnia and low sex drive, etc. doctors for years wanted to put me on antidepressants, and Ambien and Adderall…….all awful side effects. After getting the bio, identical hormone pellets, and started and taking the progesterone orally at night, I feel like a new woman, feel great and sleep good

I too started the BIO-TE pellets as recommended by a friend. And i have found them very helpful - aside from the cost 😳
My large Gynecologist office (consisting of probably 10 Dr's total) has included BIO-TE for their patients needing HRT.
Why... why would our trusted Drs recommend something that is dangerous?
I have to admit I've wondered why it wasn't FDA approved. 🤔
So much conflicting information out there.
It's time for me to get my next dose of pellets but now I'm scared.
My hormones are all out of whack....not sleeping at all. So I don't have time to waste.
I need to find answers Pronto

Why are you with use something that is not identical to what is in the body when you have the option to take something identical is beyond me. The FDA approves all kinds of terrible crap. The pharmaceutical industry is a huge business obviously. I think there are only two countries in the world that allow pharmaceuticals to be marketed in commercials and we see them everywhere. it’s always best to be your own health advocate and do your own research especially since doctors can’t get kickbacks from promoting pharmaceuticals. Great video as always. Question, if one is using low dose birth control to manage peri menopause symptoms, late 40’s, does this mean it will mask when menopause happens? It seems the pill will keep a bleed coming or some skip the placebo pack. And doing labs while taking the pill will not be accurate, is this assessment correct? Another topic, is it common that ladies cannot tolerate micronized progesterone and also sensitive to the iud? These things bring on extreme mood changes for these ladies.

Why did they use Premarin for the WHI? Why not use Estradiol? Seems logical enough to replace exactly what women are missing. Is it because Premarin could be patented (translation-you can make money on it!) and you can't patent something naturally occurring like Estradiol? It gets me so angry as it seems to be all about money. Also, companies can't patent the Estradiol in patches, only like the adhesive the patches are made with. So disheartening if this is true.

  • @moeg9846
    @moeg9846 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

The information presented here is false.
FDA approves the process by which a medicine is made/manufacture at a large scale. Also, FDA approves whether or not an active ingredient should be used to treat a specific illness. For instance, FDA approves that NSAID’s are to be used for pain (headache, etc)
A compounded medication uses an FDA approved medication for the indication approved by the FDA. I don’t see the reason why this lady claims that a compounded pharmacy is in the business of furnishing a non-FDA approved drug.
Any medication produced at a pharmacy in the US is FDA approved. The process by which this medicine is compounded is regulated by the US Pharmacopoeia and the State laws where the pharmacy is located. A compounded pharmacist is well trained to compound any medicine with an official order from a physician.
The information presented here is mostly inaccurate.

All compounded pharmacies use FDA approved products. Your compounded hormones are made under different guidelines. FDA approval is used for the process of manufacturing for big pharma. A compounded pharmacy operates under a different guidelines (USP and State laws), as stringent as FDA guidelines. With all do respect, this physician is misinforming her audiences. She is bismirching the profession of Pharmacy and that is legally persuable. Pharmacy is the most trustworthy profession, and must only furnish medications that are FDA approved. A pharmacist never provides a medication that is illegal. She does not know what she is talking about. Maybe we'll compensated by the big pharma to promote their products. Compounding has been the foundation of what profession of Pharmacy is, and pharmacist are well trained for it.

      Hi Dr Hirsch
Writing from Canada. Apparently in Canada we have approximately 180 NAMS certified practitioners available. This makes access to treatment almost impossible for women to obtain . With that said I do not have a lot of confidence in NAMS due to Their conservative guidelines. This is reflected
Out of my own personal experience. my GP does not recommend and will not prescribe HRT as guided by NAMS.
As far as the NAMS recommendations I find them disappointing.
      For example
Effexor and Gabapentin to manage vasomotor symptoms, absolutely inappropriate!
Lowest dose for the shortest time, out dated. Treatment only Under the age of 60 myth! I could go on.
In defence of compounded bio identical HRT, it is the only option available to me at this time and it works! My NP practitioner bases her treatments on current evidenced based data. My compounding pharmacy meets all dispensing requirements under Canadian licences.
I have run out of time and patients while bureaucracy debates my fate. My body my way.
Conventional practice has been most disheartening.
      Respectfully
      J

My doctor prescribed a product from Source Natural which is called Natural Progesterone Cream and the ingredients are 500mg per ounce and it is derived from soy. I have no idea if it is FDA approved or not. I did tell him that I wanted FDA approved bio-identical hormones. So, that is your next video. How do you know when something is FDA approved, not approved, compounded but approved? What's approved her as oppose what's approved in other countries. In this country we still approve things such as genetically modified wheat, still give antibiotics to animals. So, I think that if we put a label and say FDA (Federal Drug Administration) then we need to dive deeper into what exactly are they doing and why.

What brands are considered bio-identical and fda approved? There are so many!

  • @Pamkkw
    @Pamkkw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I started seeing a naturopath who prescribed biest/progesterone in troche. Is this fda approved? I’ve noticed since switching from prempro to this new hrt I have tingling in my hands/feet (googled this and it said this could be caused by hormonal imbalance although my naturopath hadn’t heard of this). Also experiencing headaches and acne so my naturopath added a DIM supplement which made the headaches worse at first. I switched from Prempro (3.5/1.5) because I thought maybe it was making me irritable (I also suffer from depression and was having lots of anxiety) but it was helping with hot flashes and night sweats so I’m not sure if I should go back to Prempro or stay on this HRT. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated.

Both sources are bio identical-the FDA approved estradiol is also bio identical. That simply means the molecules in the hormone are chemically identical to the estradiol the female body makes. But the FDA approved ones go through rigorous testing and have the exact contents and dosage it says it has. (Regulated).

I do not believe you. You are promoting official medicine that solves the symptoms, but does not break. Does anyone want to take approved pills? Have you decided to advertise for them? Oh yes, a good way to omit what is better in quality but not approved. The problem is not estrogen, but progestin, which is different from bioidentical progesterone, and the problem is that it does not work well with our body and brings problems. Progestin. And you need progesterone, without the change that is in progestin for the sake of its commercial use and registration. Again, people should have a choice, always the decision of the patients. It's unfortunate that you're posting this kind of information.

Compounded pharmacies are CUSTOM medication to the person instead of blanket levels of medication with regular standard care. These are normal pharmacies with the same drugs custom managed. Anecdotal evidence of women using compounded pharmacies you have seen doesn't mean they would not have gotten it otherwise. Most of us are very away doctors get kickbacks from FDA pharma drugs they push. I think people should not be frightened into not using pahramcies becuase they are CUSTOM medications Vs. the general drug shelf variety. I clicked on here to learn more about this and it seems you are using scare tactics to women looking for answers. Sad.
