Yeah, I was almost a bit surprised by how much I enjoyed the "distraction" from the roof. I guess it's nice for everyone to have a bit of variety from all the woodworking and roofing that has been happening over the last months.
Nick the Viking! Sagas will be written and tales will be told of how Nick the Grey did battle with the mighty trees of Chaumont, armed with his mighty battle-axe - um - chainsaw - and how he emerged battle-scarred but victorious!
I love to see Nick with all if his ropes and climbing gear. It reminds me of my Dad as he was a linesman on East Midlands Electricity Board and he had lots of climbing gear in his van. I especially remember his spikes for 'walking' up posts.
Trying to catch up on Chateau Diaries, saw one episode where Stephanie said a contractor had had a bad fall, at the chateau, & died a couple of days later. I think we all love Dan to bits, but it’s not us that counts, it’s his boys & family. Please Dan, continue to wear a harness & take care. Bring crippled is also something to consider.
Dan is in his element/comfort zone doing landscaping work. This is where he really excels. You can see the excitement in his eyes and hear it in his voice. Creating this secret garden enclosed by espaliered fruit trees is closer to his real passion. He is willing to put aside finishing the roof even though winter is coming in order to undertake this massive installation of 1400 plants.
I look at Nick now and see a Viking❤❤👌👌 Lovelyto see him back 8n his element scaring me silly up the tree. Now a mega digger and planting to look forward to. Pure Magic Dan and Nick👏👏👌👌❤❤
I had no idea that you have a wall around (some?) of your property, Dan. This new garden sounds like it's going to be a real treasure. You, Nick and Brian are an amazing group of friends. Enjoy your weekend, guys and see you on Monday. Happy trails! Thank you for letting us watch.
Having watched since the beginning, knowing that there were once NO FLOORS AT ALL, it's always cool to see them walking into rooms that didn't used to exist!❤
Seeing Nick with the harness on swinging around, reminds me to Tarzan swinging from vines! Trusting that everything is going to hold and be safe. I was still holding my breath!
Nick you're a force of nature that's for sure❤ . A real pleasure watching you at work whether with the trees or the turret of the Chateau. Have a good weekend team Dan & see you next week😊
My Dad loved your channel. He watched every episode from the last 2yrs (dragged me in to watch a few too haha) but sadly he died last Saturday so I have decided, even though it's not really my thing (sorry!) that I am going to continue watching your episodes in his memory and watch you see your project through to the end. Well done on the progress so far and good luck from gloomy Rochdale, UK.
Not sure why Nick talked about it was getting harder for him to climb those trees. He sure made it look easier than hanging off the top of a chateau. The main difference I saw was him trading a chainsaw for a nail gun.
Just amazing! really inspirational, we’ve bought an ancient French village that has been sat abandoned for 30 years in the heart of Normandy, gaining inspiration from your vlogs and hoping ours will inspire people too. Thanks so much 🙏🏼🥳🥰 Y + P
I am just so excited about this project. I am always waiting for the next episode to drop. I can't wait for the roof to be finished and the slate on so that the interior can be started.
Another glorious episode where Dan and Nick do their best to frighten us to death with their feats of dareing-do. And the sun is shining! I was watching the bats flitting in and around our church the other evening, they really do look spectacular, if a bit messy. Those hips look like they might make an ideal bat hang out, if you can seal off the insides properly from the rest of the roof structure. The bats would look great flitting about the tower and roofs, and are great at insect control. Or maybe an owl roost?
THE MASTER is at work here. Nick is splendid at what he does, a true master planning checking everuthing or security purpose, the method and technique is precise and the result is always specticale and as planned. Wonderful Nick t see you at work ❤❤❤
It is looking fantastic the whole place, I love the sound of the garden and you are giving nick lots of work that he seems to be enjoying and your audience is loving every minute even the dogs thankyou Dan for all the time you are taking to record and edit your videos
Dan you're so blessed to have such good people working with you. You all work so well together!! It would be interesting to watch Nick take down an entire tree with his helmet cam. He's a master!
Ya know, y'all could turn the swimming pool, or the area you cleared, into an English walled garden with a little work. Keep up the fun work! I hope the weather stays nice for a while. Here in the SE United States, we are having an extended autumn. Sunny and warm.
Wow, really scary with the tree who cracked above the cutline ! But as long no one is hurt, four or two feet. Close the eyes and go watching as soon as possible.
OK, THIS VIDEO DOES IT! There MUST be a new channel called "The Nick and Tree" channel. Everything about Nick, trees, ropes, and safety is at a different level of joy.
I think it'd be very cool to use the poplar wood to build a gazebo out back in the new garden area. But I don't know much about wood types and whether it's a good idea on that front. Just seems like you've got quite a set-up for turning timber into usable planks and 2x4s... great show, it's really coming along nicely!!
Thank God for Nick! He’s amazing with his talent and I’m so happy and thankful y’all have him to help with safety! He’s really good with the ropes and hanging around high places such a blessing to have him on your team And Dan, you’re just as amazing. I love watch your videos. The solutions and problem solving you have! And of course, we can’t forget Brian, with his talent, jokes and for sure eye candy 😂 every time he is on your videos 😁 ok ok the rest of you are eye candy too! 😁😂
Truly looking forward to the new garden and the tower being finished. I’ve enjoyed every video along the way. How far it’s all came! Dan you and your workers are pure inspiration.
Nice job as usual with the ace tree cutter Nick , The planting going to good,. See you Monday for the next stage of the roof and Planting. Have a good weekend Dan. Loved watching , see yer Monday❤
Nicholas and Daniel. If I was in a war to rebuild chateaus I would be honored to have you two by my side. The camaraderie between y'all is inspiring. My eyes are glued to this channel (been watching since you found the ruin). Thank you ALL for the BEST content. From south Austin Texas, I Love Y'all!
Scrap the swimming pool. Get a large cattle trough to cool off in. This is a huge property and will have lots of maintenance and expense issues. A pool is a lot of work and money! Everyone I have known who put swimming pool in ended up digging the pool back out. Plus, Nick's children are small. Nobody can watch little children and all of their friends adequately. Drowning in swimming pools is a number one killer for children. Keep your money in your pocket.
You two have accomplished a lot, and more to come on the new garden. Nick is so skilled at his tree surgery and knows his stuff. As you said, a little more to do on the roof, and it will all be secured ready for the slate tiles…next year?
Love to see Nick the viking doing what he does best..I really enjoy your ground s work as much as I do the internal work..glad your being safe..but you have to be working with a real viking ❤
Luv watching Nick doing his thing. He is a master tree surgeon.
Nick my hero, 💗💗
I like the gardening bits almost as much as the noggining bits.
Ahhh, noggins. Those were the days 😂
Yeah, I was almost a bit surprised by how much I enjoyed the "distraction" from the roof. I guess it's nice for everyone to have a bit of variety from all the woodworking and roofing that has been happening over the last months.

Seeing Nick horizontal between trees was quite awe inspiring. In his true habitat (that and the big digger!). Enjoy your weekend guys.
The amount of thinking and planning before actually cutting down those trees doesn’t go unnoticed. Nick is so good at his craft.
Nick the Viking!
Sagas will be written and tales will be told of how Nick the Grey did battle with the mighty trees of Chaumont, armed with his mighty battle-axe - um - chainsaw - and how he emerged battle-scarred but victorious!
Plus a true Viking dinner while he waited for the rest to show up! Loved his whole Show!!! Pure fun.❤❤
*Cough in Norwegian*
Great progress AND NO RAIN which seems miraculous.
Sssssssssh!
It's because everyone had a few days to rest. 🤣
Thank you, Nick, for making Dan wear a safety harness which he didn't yesterday for the 'test' corner. Life is too precious.
Safety is seemingly always an afterthought until someone gets injured
You are the best Nick!!!
I noticed that too. Yay Nick!
I love to see Nick with all if his ropes and climbing gear. It reminds me of my Dad as he was a linesman on East Midlands Electricity Board and he had lots of climbing gear in his van. I especially remember his spikes for 'walking' up posts.

He said quite a while ago that he is too old now to be climbing trees all the time, he was looking to pass that trade on to another.
👍
I look at Nick now and see a Viking❤❤👌👌 Lovelyto see him back 8n his element scaring me silly up the tree. Now a mega digger and planting to look forward to. Pure Magic Dan and Nick👏👏👌👌❤❤
Me too.
Oh dear Lord, ill be so glad when this tower is finished ! I got knots in my stomache watching the process !
I'm right there with you Judy... Every time they show the ground from where they are, I get queasy... I do not do heights.
Me too, it triggers my vertigo.
Why Brian says he doesn't mind heights astonishes me. My palms sweat watching.
I feel the same way!
Me too!!!😮
Watching Nick is like watching a symphony!
Love border collies! They are always at the ready for a chase.
Nick was definitely a billy goat in his last life..hes happiest on a tiny sliver of wood in the tree tops.
🙂
Nick is an inspiration - so fit and agile!
I had no idea that you have a wall around (some?) of your property, Dan. This new garden sounds like it's going to be a real treasure. You, Nick and Brian are an amazing group of friends. Enjoy your weekend, guys and see you on Monday. Happy trails! Thank you for letting us watch.
It needs a giant chess board in the middle!
Nick’s ‘cut it’ ‘catch it’ manoeuvre was cool 😎
Watching Nick work is just pure magic. He is a true woodsman
Nick in his element. ❤❤
Love that you have started to include more footage of the dogs.
The smokestack pots at the top sure are pretty. Never noticed that before
I always wondered what they were. Thank you Suzanne
Beautiful chimney pots!
I love them!
Nick is simply treemendous
good one!!
You know Nick is in serious tree cutting mode when the gas chainsaw comes out!
Having watched since the beginning, knowing that there were once NO FLOORS AT ALL, it's always cool to see them walking into rooms that didn't used to exist!❤
Nick is a master tree surgeon. I'm so glad you are nearly finished with the roof.
It is always great to see the Viking having fun. I can’t wait to see next week’s projects. 👏👏
By God,Nick is the MAN!!! Is there anything he can’t do?👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Walk on water.
Well, you won't have to worry about firewood next winter!
Too wet yet.
I love watching Nick climbing trees and doing his thing with the chainsaw.. Thanks Dan, have a great weekend!

I'm sorry about your Dad, and I think that's a beautiful idea.
So sorry about your dad. I think he’d love that you’re continuing to watch.❤
🕯️
Your Dad is proud xx
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Wow Nick you’re amazing today doing all the tree work and then on the ropes on the roof.
Nick is a true tree hugger. The best. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Stay safe
Another fantastic video of exceptional skillful men tackling an enormous project, achieving beautiful results while having a few laughs. Perfect!
Nick now that we know your a true Viking, I can’t unsee it even with your street clothes. You are a Viking!!!!
Not sure why Nick talked about it was getting harder for him to climb those trees. He sure made it look easier than hanging off the top of a chateau. The main difference I saw was him trading a chainsaw for a nail gun.
Maybe he meant daily climbing for 8 hours or more. That has to take a toll on the body.
I’m sure I saw him up on the top with a chainsaw attached to his hip!
Just amazing! really inspirational, we’ve bought an ancient French village that has been sat abandoned for 30 years in the heart of Normandy, gaining inspiration from your vlogs and hoping ours will inspire people too.

Nick is a PHENOM!
Nick is the master of felling trees. Looking forward to him on the big digger!
It’s wonderful to see Nick flying in the sky again!
Things are coming along on that rooftop.
I tell you I could watch hours of Nick out there in the woods!
Always in awe of the supreme skill of The Tree Whisperer.
Good variety! Nick is happy! Well done both of You!
I am so glad to see Dan wearing safety gear! That too high to even think of leaving it back on the ground. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you - tree whisperer!
I can't imagine how they built that roof back in the day without the nail guns and ropes etc.
Would of liked to be a fly as they say, I thought the same 👍
Scaffolding and good old hammer and nails
@marcgaskett and 10 horses and 4 carts, hunting tools, woman bla bla but that would made quite the vlog !!

Whew, the top of that tree coming down was a bit scary. Love the girls watching you, waiting for the signal to go!
You are forever scaling something. Or riding tractors! What a life. It was lovely to find this video today!
We always look forward to the updates. I do miss the colored beards this year. They always cracked me up🥰
Lots done have great weekend cannot wait for new Plantings!
Wow, really scary with the tree who cracked above the cutline !
But as long no one is hurt, four or two feet. Close the eyes and go watching as soon as possible.
POWER!! Once they get that the place can be all lit up and have plenty for the tools. No more generator in the background running all the time.
OK, THIS VIDEO DOES IT! There MUST be a new channel called
"The Nick and Tree" channel.

Every aspect of the restoration is intriguing.
