I had a couple A-10s use me as practice one early morning out on my local lake. I was the only boat out on the lake when they did a fly by. Next thing I knew for about the next 15-20 mins they were making passes at me from all different angles. The last passes they made I was standing up on my kayak waving them on hyped as hell. Both after doing their last pass gave me a wing tip, was super cool!

Been living here since 00... and the F35 demo squadron is now based out of Hill. Can hear them practicing out over the west desert northern range all the time. The AF had to put out a statement and practice schedule because the sonic booms were freaking people out. Lol. The F35 has a really unique sound to its engine. A mixture of turbine whine and the roar of exhaust gasses. Had them fly over a bunch. Always amazing. I'm not sure you can get out to the runway end like you did any more. But the do have the public air show every other year now which is a great way to get out on the tarmac and experience the planes up close. Got to stand next to a Raptor and a Nighthawk a couple years ago. Absolute engineering masterpieces blending form and function.
@GridIndustries It's a hard to beat location for scenery. Those mountains are pretty iconic. Gotta be super pretty in a glass canopy flying over.

So would any jet from the 1950s onward. The F35 is a piece of junk that is overpriced and obsolete. Drones are the only viable fighting combat aircraft. The sky is too dangerous for dumb monkey pilots. I say this as a pilot myself. There is no way you can have enough situational awareness as a human in an era of killer robot drones! It is absolutely impossible. Look into the OODA loop. Electronics has the advantage. Pilots are totally obsolete in every way in an era of even the simplest AI. The Brass in the USA military are idiots. They should have seen this coming decades ago. I’m not the smartest guy in the world but I’m a better than average electrical engineer. I was in the military as an electronics technician, and I know how to fly an airplane and I understand what is happening. The USA military is a joke. Our only hope is that our enemies are even stupider. The winner is the least stupid. Americans are fat and lazy and super stupid. I’m not necessarily betting on them even though I am one. But not fat, lazy, Or stupid.

No. A high speed pass can be as low as Mach 0.9. It's around the highest they can do without blowing out windows from a supersonic shockwave.
Had you gone to any military airshows, you would hear the commentators refer to a high speed pass being performed and for it to be just under Mach 1.

When I watched the Blue Angels the restaurant I worked at was about a quarter mile from the runway and a crowd of people gathered in the parking lot to watch. One came over so fast and low it was like an explosion it was literally a flash, and the plane was gone like it disappeared. People started taking their kids to their cars. I heard some windows were cracked. You don't know what a real jump scare is until you experience that. I think it's the equivalent of a minor heart attack.

What you said its true but not because a mistake, its by design. After a few generations of aircrafts they realized that most of supersonic aircrafts never use that feature, because the missiles are a lot faster and its useless and they dont use it fighting. That a why speed wasnt a critical feature. Electronic Warefare, advanced missiles, advanced radar, stealth capability and other stuff were first than speed.

I live in Wisconsin. There is a base near by. I see the F-35's about 4 times a week doing training runs. This last summer I watched them over my house doing some crazy maneuvers. Some have complained, mainly those in the big city. I live in the country where it's trees and wildlife. I love seeing them.

I saw something over Newport Beach moved twice as fast as this plane. It was a shape of a jet but it went from 100 ft to over 30000 ft where it passed over a jet and then shot past the horizon over my back with all in less than 15 seconds.

    They're incredibly loud.
Recently I was at a funeral, and 3 F35's passed overhead - the service / eulogy had to be stopped, and it took quite a while before people could make themselves heard again.
    F16's really are much quieter.

When I was in the Army (Air Defense) we were out practicing with training tubes they had an A-10 Thunder Bolt/ Wart Hog same thing. Fly over it was not at all this loud that far away I remember we heard it and then it was passing us. One reason that they call it a tank killer is you can't hear the warthog till it is hitting the target usually and it flies under Radar easily. A corsair was there also a huge difference in sounds. Warthogs are sneaky.

Have lived in Lincolnshire for 10yrs. First time l heard a sonic boom from 2 fighter jets on routine practice was absolutely amazing....and scary!
Find their regular practice flights very reassuring tho.
But the very first one we both heard was whilst out for a walk through Elveden Forest on a holiday at Center Parcs. Swear we nearly $h!t ourselves!! 😱
