Simon Preston and the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford a truly winning combination their recording of Handel's "Israel In Egypt" is LEGENDARY 😃😄😁
Absolutely breath taking I myself a chorister in my Anglican parish can't get enough of the psalms well sung by the choir of Christ Church Cathedral Oxford
Very nice. One of the very best choirs in the country at the time. The old organ as well. NB spelling: the chants are Woods, Camidge (Matthew) and Parratt.
@@Gashie To amplify the earlier answer, the music used for Anglican psalm-singing is usually known as a "chant", rather than a score, and there are thousands of such chants sung in cathedrals and churches, mostly at evensong. Some are very widespread and have become well-known, others less so, and, as with all music, some are tremendously dramatic or poignant and are a joy to sing, whereas others are, perhaps, less musically interesting. As trebles years ago, my pals and I most certainly had our favourites - and the ones we groaned about (though there were not many of those, really). It is intriguing (at least to me) to visit cathedrals and hear the different chants with all their varied "pointing" (instructions within the text denoting how to spread the words and syllables of the psalm between the notes of the chant). To save space here, if you do an internet search you can find plenty of information.
The Joy of Forgiveness A Psalm of David. A [a]Contemplation. 32 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not [b]impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah 6 For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters They shall not come near him. 7 You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. 9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you. 10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him. 11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart! They were indeed. Our spelling corrected!
For my education, what was better about the old organ?
@@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic please can you send me the score sheet of the various Psalms 32,33 and 34
I will be very grateful 🙏
We can't do that. Psalms do not have "score sheets".

Too beautifully appointed to provide a good acoustic? :)
I disagree. Christ Church has a "bloom" and helps to give the choir its intimate, precise and uniquely exciting sound.
