As a avid watcher of your channel, your opinion and reviews carries a lot of weight, at least with me, the products I have bought after your reviews have always been outstanding, thanks for the reviews Luke, keep up the great content, peace my Brother.
Stoic makes a version of these pads. They're even less expensive. I put mine inside a sleeping bag liner. This keeps it clean and creates a spot to stuff a pillow, so it'll stay in place. Really comfy pad. It's definitely warm, too.
I absolutely hated the Stoic version and had to return it. It just did not feel comfortable (especially for the size) and I couldn’t justify it even at the sale price. Other Stoic products have been great though - the Stoic Madrone is my go-to tent I ended up finding someone local that was selling their Exped Megamat - definitely a lot pricier, but worth every single penny.
I have recently purchased a self inflating foam/ air camping matress, but i had to purchase the double size as (im a big boy), and the width of a single is not great - i really wish they would do 3 sizes - Single TWIN & Double so a 28-33" then 34-38" and finally a 50-58", I didnt need the double, but knew the single was not just quite wide enough. Thank you for the review- Looks to be a great product, as for the price this seems a great choice. I can tell you mine makes a huge difference to comfort and NO NOISE when moving, something you get a lot of from air pads - they are noisy, but the matress pads are super quiet. Thanks Luke P.s I purchased one from King Camp. A great product too
Awesome !! Thanks. FYI: For 2 person etc, twist one way valve over for deflation. Attach flextail "deflate" side. Suck it. Roll, then close valve, then store. Mind blown. Works for my Mondoking XXL, Sea to summit Camp Plus, Ozark Trail 2" SI. ($29.97)
Also on my Coleman Montauk big and tall 2-3" ish thick SI. ($49.97) But yeh nothing less than a 4" thick SI (open cell foam) works for my hips, shoulders and back. Some use thick covered memory foam in back or rigs too.
Well, many air pumps had both an inlet & an outlet, so you can use the pump either as an inflator or deflator. Deflating in this way compresses the foam & makes folding & rolling self inflating products a lot easier & tighter, so it's easier to get the product back into a tight bag, especially if you continue to use the deflator while rolling up.
I have a cheap one from Stansport that I've had for 15 years or something like that. It's only 1.5 inches thick but it's fine. Super durable. I think I paid about 20 dollars for it at the time. It's about 38 now on Amazon. I have a convoluted hard foam rollup that I use for backpacking and put it underneath sometimes. It works fine without it for me. Never needed much cushion.
I picked up the Lost Horizon one of this type, Its almost identical to the Skymac one but the valve is a bit different. The best part is that there is a thingiverse 3d printed connector for the Flextail pumps to help inflate/deflate it and it helps immensely with rolling it up easily. Works great, super comfortable and good for car camping.
I have a similar pad. When you switch the valve, no new air can come it. So, to store it, fold it in half, let the air out. Fold int quarters, let the air out. Then, unfold it. It will almost be flat. Then, you can roll it up and squeeze the rest of the air out.
I notice that it rains every time you go camping. I was just wondering if you could come camp on my property here in North Texas? My pasture would love it.
@@TheDntp I have never tried the skyemac but I think the decathlon version is really comfortable (but comfort is subjective). It also has a 5 year warranty and is close in price. If you have a decathlon nearby you could always try and return if you didn't like it.
Hey Luke, watching your video. I binge watch you and your gorgeous wife. She should go camping with you more often. I especially love the videos with thunder, lightning and rain
I have a 3 inch thick Camprest sleeping pad I’ve been using for 15 years. It has 2 inflation/deflation valves and has been awesome. Thermarest has the best sleeping systems to date and roll up much smaller than the one Luke has. Don’t skimp on sleeping pads.
Luke I bought one right after your video and used it during Deer season for a week, the second time I used it this week July 15th - 19th 2024 and it had a leak, what a bummer. I always used a ground cover when I used it, always protected and took care to not abuse it and it failed.
Are you talking about the light blue 3.9 inches thick one?? I think they discontinued it I can no longer find it but I bought one last minute and it's great
I wanted the pad the first time I saw it. It was sold out again. I tried another 3" thick pad from a place called Hikenture for $60. You might want to check them out.
I have been eyeing this pad to use on my oversized cot that's 32 inches wide. Would make a fantastic car camping or guest bed that can be stuck in a closet. Also I've seen the R value, it's stated at like 12....I don't remember the exact number, 12.5 maybe, but it's insane.
looks an awful lot like my Qomotop mattresses. I got the singles for $36 each on Woot and I paid $97 for the double from Amazon. The singles fit my Litefighter 1s perfectly and the double fits my Alps Helix 2 perfectly.
Luke, I've asked this before? Just in general, why don't companies, just make the storage bags a wee bit bigger. It can't make that much difference, to add a wee bit bigger bag and the price can't make much difference in price. Right there Luke, is my issue. I've had 9 Knee ops!!! So that kinda cuts me out. But again? Why won't they make tent, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, just a wee bit bigger? Surely, it's not going to there profits that much.?.❤❤❤❤
Hi, would you expect any use or storage issue if someone bought 2 singles pads and then use self-adhesive velcro pads to link together as makeshift 2-person double size? I envision sections of vertical strips of velcro spread along one side rather than continuous long strip down the length of the pad to hopefully mitigate roll-up bulking issues but trade off may be reduced bond area when trying to combine 2 single pads.
Luke, doesn't (even in summer temps) blowing into the mattress leave at least residual moisture in the mattress, that might still affect its performance in the next winter?
I bought one about 7 months ago. Very comfy and warm for winter truck camping. Unfortunately about a month ago I got a leak in it. Tried to look up the company to see if I could use a warranty claim or possible return. Can’t find anything. This company is a ghost. I even looked to buy another one for my wife before mine had a leak and it was gone from Amazon. If they had any actual customer service, then maybe it would be a good product. Just be aware, if you buy this and have any issues, you’re on your own. It’s still an air mattress so you will eventually have an issue.
Looks very similar to the Sea to Summit mat I have. The valve looks similar too. Can the one-way valve be flipped around to help with keeping the air out while rolling it up? My mat does
They list the R Value as 13.....questionable? Looks like a great pad. Also note that the Amazon page shows that the bag can be blown up with a bag, "Cooperate with a gas bag to replenish air" 🤣the picture shows a bag with SKYEMAC printed on it. Does it come with it?
@@WayneTheSeine The Exped Megamat is 8.1 or something close to that I would be amazed if if was as high as 13. Slightly academic really as an R Value of around 8 is sufficient to put a mat on a glacier and not feel the cold, I haven’t tried that though!
3 things. 1) You did not mention any warranty information. There is no warranty on this product. 2) the valve can be reversed for when you roll this up. Prevents air from going back in as you roll. How have you had this for a year and not used this feature? 3) The storage bag can be used to fill up the bag also. This should be the default method as to not introduce moisture into the foam and pad. Also if you fill to much it will begin to delaminate which is what happened to mine. I had to throw away since there is no warranty.
Look at the Artemis from GearDoctors -- after my Skyemac began to delaminate/blister recently, I got a Prime Day deal on one for about the same price as the other one last year. My impression after one nights use is that this is the original from which the others in the lower price range are copied (Amazon's "date first available" supports this notion, at any rate).
I thought all mattresses, pillows, sleeping bags, upholstered furniture sold in the US required a law label. You know that annoying tag you have to rip/cut off. The materials used, manufacturer details and other product info are on this tag.
what is the maximum weight capacity? for example and I am not exaggerating... what if your a 300 lbs or more? how does that fair out for a chunk a dunk camper enthusiast?
Your video came out just as I am searching for a new sleeping pad. The Skyemac looks like what I have been searching for. However when I clicked on the Amazon links it said neither mattress is currently available. Do you know of another source? Thanks.
I got one of these after his first review and for almost 9 months of daily use it was everything he said. Then a delamination under my head began to appear, and it didn't take many uses to enlarge to the point that the product became unusable for an adult-sized individual. Was fortunate to find an Amazon day deal onthe GearDoctors Artemis pad rated about the same for about the same price as the Skyemac. Just arrived today and I'm looking forward to giving it a try. Similar in construction details and features, it does have good documentation and a limited lifetime warranty -- even a small patch with instructions for application! We'll see if their QC is better or not! Addendum: after the first use, I can say I got a very good nights rest. The top fabric has a nicer feel than the Skyemac version, and it doesn't seem to produce any local hot-sweat-contact perceptions like the other did sometimes. A check of the "date first available" field on Amazon for both items shows the GearDoctors was likely the first version, so it may be the OG for items in the budget price range. That opinion is also supported by my impression that the foam used in the GearDoctors product is a slightly higher grade, resulting in a better conformability even though the overall thickness seems to be slightly less than the newer "copies".
I’m a side sleeper too I was stiff in the morning but I have real bad back. 2nd night used cot with pad slept great wasn’t stiff.with both Valve has a in and out air when deflating you must flipped the valve inside the product prevent air going back in Mattress

To aid deflation use a Flextail pump on the suction side, makes a 10 minute 2 person job a 1 minute single person job on a double mattress.
