  • Napa cabbage is one of my favorite greens to grow. It's fast-growing and super delicious, and I've had way more success with it than any other type of cabbage.
We all need to be starting Napa cabbage by seed like right now if we want to grow the most beautiful, incredible heads. Here's how to grow your own Napa cabbage.
If you want details for how to grow more leafy greens, I've got step-by-step guides in my book, Leaves, Roots & Fruit, so you don't have to grow alone! www.amazon.com/Leaves-Roots-F...

I have grown them in the past but they take up so much room for one head and a long grow that I no longer bother. My garden area is a around 800 square feet give or take so I grow some rooted veggies in the winter, some lettuce, then start very early with Potatoes, peas, more carrots, radish, more leafy greens, etc. But I agree with you growing cabbage is rewarding, my old favorite was flathead, mainly because it's not commercially available.

Do you have a recommendation of where to get the seeds?

Some of my favorite sources are Baker Creek and Botanical Interests, but I also recommend looking for local varieties from nurseries so they're used to your climate
