If I get married someday I know I'll have to fight with my mom who has complete other tastes than me. I'm considering to go shopping by myself, pick up 2 or 3 dresses I really like, and then come back with her and just let her chose between these 2 dresses. x) I'm note sure it could work.

The mom and uncle were obviously terrible, but I can't believe the consultant just went along with it too. I can understand putting her in one ball gown just to show them and make sure that she doesn't in fact like it (sometimes the brides end up pleasantly surprised after all), but what happened to putting the bride first? She obviously did not like the ball gown and wanted to keep looking. But of course the consultant took advantage of the family's manipulations to just sell a second dress instead of just putting her in some beautiful fit and flairs to change their minds. The entire thing was a trainwreck.

My Nan died a few years before both me and my sister got married and my mother used some of the inheritance from her to buy our dresses. We both had very different dresses that we loved and that suited us. There was no manipulation at all. Just sensible considerations about venue, vision for the day, etc. If someone else is paying for the right reasons they don’t have any ‘control’- they just want you to have exactly what you want and what is right for you.

Ive been in the wedding industry for over 25 years and it still stuns me how some family members want what they like, and pay zero attention to the bride. A lot of "me me, me" its shocking!😠
IMO it isn't just the dress: these two have probably hijacked the entire wedding: venue, flowers, bride's colors, etc. They are probably paying for everything to ensure that they get the wedding of their dreams, and she doesn't want to disappoint them. But where does she draw the line? Are they going to have a say in what house she and DH buy, what colors to do the nursery, what to name their baby and the list goes on. If I were the bride, I would feel suffocated being forced even through love to live out mom/uncle's fantasy. Of course, if it were me, I would elope rather than become their living Barbie doll. These two mean well and obviously love the bride to bits but it is time for them to let go and allow her, her own choices.

What the uncle does in his own time is his own business, but he doesn't need to be in a bridal salon looking at dresses that he thinks will suit him. What the uncle does in his own time is his own business, but he doesn't need to be in a bridal salon looking at dresses that he thinks will suit him.
If she can, I think it's best if a bride can save up for her own gown and then all she has to please is herself. She looked beautiful in both dresses, but that's not the point.

Awful family and awful dresses🥺. The consultant managed the appt very poorly. The bride should have had better choices and her wishes respected. Most likely she is forced to conform in most things in her family. So sad 😭.
Oh man….her mother is not wearing that dress!!! I was so uncomfortable there. That wedding dress makes her look like a trifle and she picked the fit and flare cause it was the only one her family would agree to. What is that about?
I'm sorry but the consultant didn't do her job right this time. She didnt pull the dresses she wanted and the second fit and flair dress doesnt flatter her at all despite having a great figure. Families can be overpowering but it's the consultant's job to set things straight and make the bride happy.
