PS2 disc tray rattling sound

Tried to make the PS2 disc tray rattling sound go away by lubricating the rails underneath the disc tray with silicone oil, intended actually for car door rubber seals, in order to make them more slippery. My guess was that perhaps they are a bit worn and resist a bit while moving, causing the rattling sound. No change, even it opened once or twice without the rattle.
Let's hope the lubricating attempt won't cause any harm at least.
Main thing is that the disc tray, and the console work at all.
My Playstation 2 is the original fat model, SCPH-30004 version.
