If I remember correctly, Miu was actually hesitating when she went to confront Kokichi. She was either scared, or she genuinely didn't want to kill and simply felt trapped. Most likely a combination of both.
My headcanon is that Miu's "golden brain" actually IS brilliant but it gets so exhausted with her ultimate talent that she's just that dumb with everything else.
I don't think Hiyoko could have ran away. Her clothes were barley on her body so that hindered her from running and even if she just dropped her Kimono, she's short and obviously couldn't outrun Mikan in any event. I think she did try to get away, but Mikan was simply too fast and got her.
There was 2 or 3 ways she probably could have avoided her death
1. Just fucking deal with the kimono till morning, and when it IS morning, ask someone to tie it up for her
2. Ask Sonia to just tie it up for her instead of waiting till morning since she was already there
3. Just stop being stubborn and tie it up in the front instead of the back and then just fix it when the disease passes or it hits morning and you can safely leave your room to the music venue where the mirror was(Because nobody would commit a murder in broad daylight..excluding Peko.)
Because honestly, why in the hell would you go outside of the safety of your own room/dorm/whatever it is while theres a killing game, you cant defend yourself, and theres a contagious disease going around??

Well, I'm guessing Hiyoko wanted to do it herself the right way, because Mahiru taught her how to do it. She probably didn't want to disrespect her by still not knowing how to tie her Kimono. Sure, she could have waited but she didn't expect to actually run into a murder as the chances are extremely slim.
She also could've taken the mirror to her room when Sonia told her about it instead waiting till the middle of the night to use it. That's always the first thing I think of when it comes to her avoiding being killed.

@@LmnJuc-on5tf But wasn't it in the middle of the night? Thats the most common times that murders occur. She should have at least suspected that it's dangerous to go out alone or outside in general due to the motive.
Now that I think about it, nagito could have made his case even worse... so the current understanding of nagitos case is the fact that 1 of the 6 bottles had the poison in it that killed him or made him drop the spear, and the students were coerced into throwing the bottles because of the fire. Nagito could have filled every fire grenade with poison, and the same result would have happened. His plan was based around luck, so it didn't matter if there was one culprit or all 6. Nagito could have won the trial if he did a few other things as well.
Firstly, nagito should have done a few things so the group didn't find out he set up his own murder scene. If he burned part of his clothing onto burning his rope, then it would be less likely for the group to think that nagito had a hand free to commit the murder. He also could have cut some of his lip before putting tape over his mouth obfuscating the order of events that led to his demise. Nagito was found to have set up this case because there was only blood over the tape, not under it.
This leads me to my personal favorite way nagito could have set up this trial however, where instead of the poison, he could have used a trail of chemicals to lead from the gas lighters location to nagitos body. By doing this, the person that kicks the door open is the person that killed him because they were the one that set off the domino chain of monokuma panels, which landed on the lighter, which started the fire, which would burn nagitos hand, causing him to drop the spear. Granted, this is significantly more painful, but he already cut himself a ridiculous amount of times to make himself look tortured. If I were him, I would have taken so many pain killers before this. Whats also cool about the fire plan as well, is that if nagito didn't hold the cord that kept the gungnir spear hoisted on the metal girder, the fire could've burned the cord until the spear fell. This cements that the person who started the fire killed nagito, and also hides even more evidence, being the fact that blood isn't found near the end of the cord as nagito had held that part while he played stabby stabby with himself had no blood on it as he held that part and the blood was on his hand. Ontop of the fire nagito idea, he can hide the final pieces of evidence that got him caught, the blood on the metal girder and the monokuma plushie with blood on it. By the fire burning the cord that holds the spear in the air it also stops there from needing to be blood on the spear, so there wouldnt be any blood on the overhead girder further complicating the crime, and finally the plushie nagito used to prop up the knife he stabbed his hand with would have burned in the fire as well, which doesn't hide the ashes of the monokuma plushie being there. But it would hide that his blood is on it, thus hiding he used it to prop up the knife. Looking over nagitos case again, he could've hid all possible evidence that he is the culprit behind this crime just by using fire.
On top of this, he could've made his intentions significantly more. Firstly he should have left the future foundation files inside of the warehouse along with monomi's book. This way, he burns the evidence that mononi knows about the final dead room, and chiaki can't prove she is the traitor, (Granted, if nagito burns the files, the group never knows they are the remnants of despair. Thus, it would have led to junko winning, as too many students died for the emergency override protocol to activate.) But this is if nagito was unlucky enough for his plan to succeed so onwards! He shouldn't have acted so suspicious before his death. His last human interaction with the remaining survivors in chapter 5 ends with him saying "it's OK the killing game will be over soon and it will all work out in the end." This kinda ruined his whole plan as the fact the group believed that nagitos motive didn't make sense to kill himself without a really good reason is how they found out that nagito tried to kill everyone besides the traitor.
In Conclusion, Nagito had the second greatest chance of any danganronpa character winning a case to achieve their motive, and the only case I put in front of that is Gundham Tenaks but that's a story for another day. Nagito could have hid all evidence he set up a murder of himself and with his status as the ultimate lucky student, chiaki would have forced the door open, started the fire, burned the monokuma doll, confused the group more with the potential of poison in the fire grenades, burned his clothing which hid his intentions, bled under the duct tape so it didn't rule out that someone tortured him for answers, removed blood from the metal girder, made it hard to see on the monokuma doll, and it look normal at the end of the gungnir spear. Nagito could've hidden they were the remnants of despair, chiaki can't prove she's the traitor, and nagito would have had the greatest murder plan (one which is significantly better than kokichis in every way)

Aside from the first one, these are all nice alterations to the case that would have made it more difficult.
But regarding the 1st alteration, he couldn't have put poison on all the bottles since there wouldn't be enough. Idk if u remember but the poison bottle was quite small. It wouldn't have the right amount to fill 6 emergency bottles.
And even if it did, the traitor (nanami) needed to be the blackened in order for his entire plan to work. If they voted wrong during the trial,
"the evil remnants of despair" would all die except for the traitor.

@Eagleye I realized halfway through the essay I essentially wrote that it didn't work. However, my main idea was that it technically was a possibility for nagito to do, which would lead to interesting results despite it not conforming to his plan.
As for the altercations, I felt like the core idea for this trial was great, but the first half of the trial of figuring out nagito staged this "suicide" had too much evidence in certain areas, like the whole use of domino's was a little to easy to see, I feel like the cardboard cutouts should've burned more. Maybe I'm crazy but the case feels like it got nerfed.
In conclusion, let me write for the 54th danganronpa killing game or let me participate. I will 100% win.
There's one glaring problem with your reiteration that would make choosing the murderer much easier. First of all, the beauty of the fire grenade is that no one knew which one was the poison, making it unsolvable. But in your comment, you mentioned the one kicking down the door being responsible for the death, which makes it obvious who the culprit was, making the case very much solvable. It's admirable that you are trying to make something already unsolvable even more unsolvable, If you try to put it into practice, you will see the problems with it, and with that, you can solve those problems easily. Good job.
@AzazelsAutumm Very fair point. However, I'd like to note that they still don't know what killed nagito. If the fire grenade was also included, they still can't be certain if the door or the fire grenade killed him. Nagito could have made the evidence that he put poison in the fire grenades more readily available, and they couldn't be certain if the poison or the gungnir spear killed him. The spear would fall eventually, and due to the fire grenades poison being mentioned to cause death nearly instantly, all nagito would have to do would be slow the rate of the fire a little bit.
This is all assuming they figured out he still could have committed the murder, and all the evidence he had a hand free was effaced. I don't think there's any evidence for them to determine that nagito set up the killing mechanism other than he had one of his ropes burned. Also, since my original post, I came to the thought that nagito could have tortured himself more as he didn't have to hold the gungnir spear. Therefore, the entirety of his body would've been equally tortured so they would have even less evidence
Another easy way Miu could have prevented her death just Programm an emergency log out function into your avatar that automatically logs you out whenever someone tries to kill you
or maybe do a memory wipe for everyone so no one remembers anything that happened in the other world except her or something

Then she’d only have ti deal with Gonta because he had his backwards when she had them put them in normally, he’d likely get it right when told to put them backwards

I'm not sure if Ryoma would've even been able to push himself up. Due to his height, or lack thereof, it's unlikely his feet would've been able to reach the ground, so all he'd be able to use to push himself up is the sink itself. And due to being handcuffed, with his arms already in the sink, it simply wouldn't be feasible.

Sayaka wasn’t thinking that straight. I get the idea behind her plan. But 11037 was still a tall, masculine male. She should’ve chose a female or until his death revealed the opposite gender, chihiro. Chihiro had a better chance just fighting back…or attempting to gun straight for the door, given mondo wasn’t in his way. Mondo lifted that dumbbell pretty easily so nothing would stop him from just chasing chihiro around and trying again. I also feel Ali could’ve prevented Sakura’s unalive by just refusing to get anything for her. Mahiru…..should’ve indeed just talked to hiyoko. And if she noticed the guy who wanted revenge for his sister, and/or his right hand girl, ran for the fucking hills.
So, almost all the victims could have survived by either paying more attention to their surronding and/or running away.

He had multiple chances of preventing his own murder
It only comes down to bad writing in my opinion
- He could have checked more rooms then the 2 he checked with hajime. There he would have seen the 3 irons
- He should have stopped the party as soon as items from the kitchen werent there and question Teruteru and Nagito. Because lets be serious? Teruteru somehow lost in the kitchen he spend the most time in? That was a red flag that either someone snuck in or teruteru is hiding something.
- He shouldnt have crawled under the table, he simply could have stand near edge of the table, reached over the knife, let it fall and dragged it out from the table. The only reason he got killed because he went under the table for no reason when he could have used a different and better method.
- Finally if he didnt get the knife, he should have restrained Nagito. With him keeping nagito at hold...him and Nagito were safe. Remember the only reason Twgami got kijled was because he was in right position and near the green light. In this scenario simce Twogami is occupied with restraining Nagito. It means that Teruteru whole plan is a bust.

Mahiru survives if she had room temperature IQ or more. The moment she stepped into the beach house and sees the guy she knows is royally pissed off at her instead of the person she was supposed to meet, she could've turned back. But even then, she could've tried to defuse the situation instead of calling out angry baby gangster. She has to be one of the dumbest character in the series

Honestly in rantaros case he should have been more aware of his surroundings or have the foresight that him having the secret message at all was a red flag that the MM might be already knew of f(I mean lets think about it, if you were kidnapped and given the e handbooks yourself by Monokuma and you know is controlled by crazy person. What Ryoma should of done really was not be alone, cause Kirumi made him her target cause he didn't feel like living so after he looked at his video I'd have him be with someone like a Kaito or Shuichi basically someone that is trustworthy but is also weaker than himself in case that trusted person ends up trying to kill him, or another way for him not to die would be to not watch the video cause that caused him to be targeted by Kirumi these would be two ideas for him to not die, but since he ends up doing what he ends up doing the best option would be to grab something around him and using it to protect himself from Kirumi which in the place he's in the best thing to use would be a tennis ball
One thing I thought of for 3-4, why didn’t Miu just kill Kokichi outside of the game while everyone else was inside of it? Nobody was there to witness it and she had the ability to say “I couldn’t leave because the bridge was out” so she’d probably be trusted to “look into” the technical part of it, then blame Kaito because he “left” due to her booting him.

2. If he didn’t torture himself (It was freaking useless)
3. He could have just told who the imposter was rather than doing an useless plan
4. He could have proved that others were cheating on him by making them the blackened. ( By summoning poison on all extinguishers)
I think if he did these things correctly he could have made Chiaki live and let the others die.

@@BananaAreKool They are smart, but Kokichi has proven he’s smarter than them(except for Tsumugi) throughout the game. He knew they were in a show early on in the game, and he already figured all murder cases before everyone else in each chapter. He’s pretty much a mixture of Komaeda and Kyoko. Like Kyoko, he steered the conversation for Shuichi to figure out the murderer, but he’s similar to Komaeda about how he acts in mannerism.
