Why do you always think it that way abt them earning profit!! They could have made some other story or some other movie to earn profits but they chose to show the Gangubai side world to the world. Tbh before this movie, many of us didn't even know who she was. After the makers made the movie, kam se kam we know the legend now. Don't always blame Bollywood. When it's doing good, appreciate it. Hollywood ko support karte ho har dam but at least when Bollywood is trying to bring a change to it's movies perspective, try to respect it and encourage them, instead of being a Kangana, who is only making comments to make controversies.

It's not really black and white, its not abt bollywood is good or bad, right or wrong and I acknowledge that. But also I do think that Gangubai's unfilled dreams and then afterwards a movie being made on her is ironic and deserves to be talked about too. Also it makes us question right that who knows how many of struggling actress from lower or middle class families were not able to achieve what they wanted and probably were forced into the same as Gangubai.

If what this lady is saying is true, then why does gangubai's (adopted or not) grand daughter Bharti is saying that she didn't run brothel and also she was not from the kamathipura red light area. We know that she was forced into this thing, as she wanted to be an actor. But, Bharti was saying that this was untrue and she never became a sex worker. Her story of a social worker was indeed true as we've witnessed that in the movie as well. But, Bharti was not accepting the thing of gangubai being a madam of brothel, else the social worker thing was right. We don't know who is saying right, who is saying wrong. But, whether she was a sex worker or not, she did alot of things for her people there and so that's what is commendable. We should respect them irrespective of their occupation.
From what I know she was sold to the brothel at the age of 16 by her husband. So yeah she was trapped and couldn't escape because she ran away with a lower caste man to marry him as her parents wouldn't have approved
