You're spot on, it's his unpredictability, authenticity and fearlessness as an actor that makes him one of the greatest!

I've been looking for better ways to describe just how stellar and revolutionary his acting is. He embodies every ounce of character and interacts with his space in a way that I've never seen in mainstream male actors. Theatre-trained. Thanks for this video! You nailed it with 'unpredictable'!

as someone just has said, thank you for putting it into words! I like very much your video. I also love the fact that he can sing. But it's like he sings like a normal person and not like a boadway actor who imposes his voice. That's the coolest thing. I think the best time I watch him singing was in Marriage Story but I love it in Hungry Hearts because he was so genuine there. And he gets embarrassed singing, but at the same time it seemed like the character was shy. I loved it. And he sang in Italian...it was even harder.

But I really hope he will one day be able to watch how brilliant his own performances are and see just why he’s so loved and so deserving of all things good in the world.

Thinking of other actors who can be unpredictable, I thought first of Pacino in Heat after so many takes and he finally shouted, wild-eyed, "cuz she's got a-- GREAT ASS." 🙆😂
I think there's a correlation not to be ignored for screen actors who also do theatre work when we consider improvisation as a tactic here as well, something both these guys are good at 🤷
