- Limba Română. I react toa Romanian song that seem to blend rap music with traditional romanian music. The artist is Subcarpati. Never heard of them before but excited to hear this.

I am so glad you reacted to Subcarpați! Even as a metalhead that sometimes listens to electronic music, these guys managed to unite what We all have in common in this country: ancient traditional music, oral folklore passed down from generation to generation, in a new form. "The folklore is oxygen for an asthmatic nation" is what Subcarpați say. They are a Supergroup made of many bands and artists, please read about them in their wiki section! They have so many projects, supporters and artists involved it's mind-blowing. Here's a recommendation that also encompasses some of the members of Subarpați, including the Supergroup's founder, MC Bean and his son, Misha, one that will definitely strike closer to your island man heart: BASSKA, MCM, IOANA - ONE LOVE (Videoclip Oficial) And thank you again SO MUCH for reacting to Subcarpați, it was a great surprise!

Subcarpati's style is a fusion of folklore, hip-hop and electronic music and you are spot on, it creates a bridge between modern electronic music and the sound of Romanian traditional music and does it very well. I recommend listening to Da-i foale; Frunzulița, Iarba Deasă; Colind. They speak about the schism between society and the traditional way of living in harmony with the land and the loss of traditions and folklore due to the occidentalization and separation from traditional values and adoption of western values.

As a Romanian, my blood boils every time I hear this (in a good, enthusiastic sense). Enescu perfectly encapsulated our country's soul and regional influences. The dominant theme is Romanian folklore, while other themes include Viennese waltz and Ottoman flavors. Amazing piece!

Sub Carpați = under the Carpathians ( Carpați is a maontain range ). Their musical style is a mix with traditional music. Their message is mostly for peace, love and criticizing bad things ( not necessarily politics).
