  • The "Attack of the Dead Men" refers to a historical event that took place during World War I at the Osowiec Fortress, located in modern-day Poland. In 1915, during the Eastern Front of the war, the German army launched an assault on the fortress, employing a new and terrifying weapon: chlorine gas.

Thanks to Sabaton's song The Attack Of The Dead Men and this short film which fragments are in Radio Tapok's cover (which was actually released a day before the original ;) ) I've visited Osowiec Fortress which is nowadays in Poland. Amazing experience. But what you've said at the begining of this video stracked me hardly. About the sound of the bullets and all the thoughts in your head when being in the middle of the danger. I'm a cyvilian average scout woman and a few years ago we went to the forest for the war game with ASG guns. I was "dead" soon after hiding behind one tree and listening what's going on, listening to sounds of shooting. I was scared looking at two plastic bullets hitting my legs. :( I was lucky it was all fake battle... But I remember that fear till today.

About four years ago I was pretty active in one poetry group . Some people liked my peoms and one guy from England asked me where I'm from. I said -Serbia. He was all -"Did you know you commited genocide?". I said-" No, I did not but let me check." Then I wrote my last poem " The island". Never wrote anything again. Noone really knows how many genocides the Serbs went through- 1/3 of the entire population in WWI, 1/4 in WWII, concentration camps in Croatia , half a milion after the WWII during Tito( 100 mass graves in Serbia), ethic cleansing, Mujahedeens in civil war , etc. And this simple, BBC consument had the gutts to ask that question😢

of course you never did anything wrong, you are the eternal victims, mada nevjerujem da ste to vi bili u Srebrenici ali niste, pogotovo vasi cetnici, ni vi nevini.

You are such a shiny soul, keep on shining. I hope those people around you know your worth ❤ People who appreciated my poetry the most were the people from South America , India, Africa...those who suffered. But the most popular among all the writers was one lady who wrote about her boredom . That too as well as the BBC consumer really shaked my faith in humanity. Luckily there are still decent, openhearted people out there, the one I'd like to drink a cup of coffee with, the one like yourself. God bless you too🙏❤️

Chlorine gas reacts with moisture to become acidic, so these russians would have also been bleeding from their eyes as well. This is probably what would have made them the most frightening to look at.

It's astonishing and sad that still in 21st century some folks are not able to communicate their needs & boundaries respectfully and intelligently with each other. Especially the 'representatives' or so called 'leaders' of people seem to be the worst at it while people themselves are already far ahead in their social intelligence. In the end everyone just wants to be respected, appreciated, loved and able to provide for themselves and their families. We all have the same basic needs, that's why we have to build trust by communicating, understanding and complementing each other instead of threatening and destroying each other. If we would put all the effort and billions into developing that instead of throwing it into military and weapons what a wonderful world it would be. But evolution is going towards social intelligence step by step. That's for sure. Evolution is not about developing weapons but developing our mindset of humanity. It just needs it's organic time. At least that's my perception.

Warfare now is even easier since now adays, the soldiers aren't up close and personal with their foes, and if you can't see them, or connect with them, seeing that they are like you and fighting for their lives like you, you are less likely to think of them as a fellow human being. Now adays, it's easier for soldiers to kill each other because of that fact. There may have been fewer people willing to kill o rat least they would've felt more felt more guilty about fighting if we continued fighting with swords, muskets, and bayonets rather than the weapons we have now.

My hat is off to you, sir. Mad respect. I nearly lost my younger brother in Iraq and Kuwait not long after September 11, 2001. He was in a Striker with his commander and the entire crew were boy--BOYS--that literally grew up in our same neighborhood, called our mother Mom since she was the neighborhood mom. Period. My brother's striker ran over an IED in Iraq. Only his commander and himself made it. Even though those boys were not mom's biological kids, they were HER KIDS. Hit her and mourned as if she birthed them herself. She watched those boys grow up from troubled kids into strong, resilient young men. They never saw it coming. My brother still cannot talk about it to mom and dad, only to me, his older brother. Was never in the military myself, but, what I have survived--literally--despite the stark differences of facts, my brother told me that he knows that I understand what literally having 1 foot in the grave. Thrice. Despite the differences of life and experiences, in a way my bro and I actually understand what it feels like to look death in the eye...

This is not crap, but pages from a real story, not a fictional one. It is a pity that people in the West do not know history, and their older generation does not tell them the truth. As the Russians say: “those who do not know the past have no future.” Think about it.
