Mig 21 was the backbone of Indian air force . I LOVE IT ... My all time Favorite . MY father was technician of this plane . For me it,'s best single engine fighter. Miss you MIG 21.

why was the runway pebble sweep and cleaning not shown? They may be "only" MiGs, but they can operate from runways which will total a F-16.

Romania was very smart to upgrade and continue to operate the Mig-21. I kind of feel sorry for them that if war breaks out, they will be vaporized instantly.

yes but we don't know why. My first guess is the retarded way we use them, Mig 21 is a delta wing fighter. That mean it is not going slow ant it hates high AOA's, but since we have f16 as fighters we pushed mig 21 in attack role. If you use a delta wing fighter as a A-10 you got a a ticking bomb on your hand. The pilot ejected but he wasn't feeling he's legs

@mititelu: try reading "red eagles" (Davies, Steve (2008), Red Eagles). Your information is wrong. Also, have seen many times MiG-21s doing passes at VERY high AOAs (Romanian too), including one in 2006 at Constanta. Slow and AOA, only the F/A-18 can park behind it...maybe the F-22 too.
And the crash was due to an engine failure after a bird strike, nothing related to "attack role".
Yes it crashe dat bass Mihail Kogalniceanu. It appears that the airplane had an engine problem and the pilot ejected just before the engine exploded. It happend after a few time after the takeoff
