Patient Scared Of Hospitals Causes Concern For Paramedics | Inside The Ambulance | Real Responders

  • Paramedics respond to a call and find a young man with an infection. While paramedics are keen to get him to hospital, the patient is distraught at the thought of going. Elsewhere, paramedics respond to a different call of a man with chest pains.
For the very first time, an ambulance has been rigged with cameras that provide a unique perspective on what it's like to respond to emergency calls. 'Inside The Ambulance' follows paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service in England as they take us right into the heart of the action. We see heroism at work in the actions of these first responders. We also enter the lives of people in crisis and learn their unique stories.

A few tears dropped with joy… we had a few autistic friends at school and my sister and I would always take them and have them enjoy recess with us.. we always included them, now to this day(I’m 31) they recognize me and ask for my sister… I usually just tell them she’s at work or something because she passed away 6 years ago… I don’t want to break their hearts… thank you, I applaud you very very much for that!!!

I loved that they offered to feed the gentleman's cat, I'm glad the poor guy didn't have to worry about that when he should focus on his health.
Years ago I had a cat, I was really suicidal but refused to go to the hospital because no one would be there to feed the cat. Then after a few days of struggling and realized if I die, my poor cat would starve and die and I didn't want my lovely cat to die before her time. But if I had been forced to go into the hospital, I wouldn't have gotten better because I'd have stressed over my cat the whole time and it might have taken me even longer to get better.

I wish more people knew how to interact with people of different mental needs. I had to help an autistic teen I found in the cold. He was panicked and the first responders didn't know how to handle him. I had to bridge the gap, managed to get him to unlock his phone and let his friend know where his was. From there his dad was able to come get him and I had warmed him up and calmed him down. It's a real shame when they're treated like criminals in the US. So hats of to this crew treating John with care and empathy.

@@curtispandachuk9323and I totally get the disability thing. I'm physically disabled. Make regular hospital visits for a neuromuscular disease that comes with chronic pain, and when my regular pain meds don't work, my doctor sends me to outpatients with orders to have my port accessed so I can use IV dilaudid. The nurses where I got for regular ivig treatments know me very well and my history and what to do to help, but when I go to emerge or outpatients (I think it's called urgent care or resus in other countries) they treat me as a drug seeking person. Most of them don't even know about my neuromuscular disease. I was in crisis in 2019, telling them I was struggling to breathe, but because my oxygen levels were normal, they thought I was lying. If the neurologist wasn't on call in the hospital while I was there, I would most likely be dead. He had to explain to them it's not a problem with my lung tissue, it's my diaphragm and muscles that were failing me, and my oxygen wouldn't drop until I stopped breathing all together. I spent a week in ICU on a vent & feeding tube, a month in hospital, still in a feeding tube, and home with another 5 months on a feeding tube because I couldn't swallow. They don't believe what they don't know so they treat you like you're crazy, especially if they see you're on antidepressants.

Yes, it's definitely not a priority in the US. However I had a stroke a couple months ago, I live by myself with my cats. The ambulance attendants came back about an hour later and found me in the ER wanting to make sure someone was able to get ahold of my daughters. We left the house in such a hurry and I was not able to communicate verbally, but I was able to let them know that my cats would be there by themselves, and they didn't forget about it!

All the paramedics worried about was me locking up my dogs. I was trying to tell them vital information about my husband, but they refused to listen. I would have taken him myself if he was conscious. Ever since we don't call the ambulance if there is any way to take him ourselves. They were rude, and I was delayed getting to the ER by their priorities. I have told my family never to send me by ambulance no matter what. I don't trust them.

@@tatonkatatonka Actually, it happens all the time. Often paramedics will ensure animals have food/water or a care provider present especially if time allows. Also ensure children are safe and either left with older responsible siblings/family or trusted individuals or they are brought with their parent. Paramedics also ensure residences are locked and secured before leaving. Happens all the time and to say it doesn’t without having that knowledge is I’ll informed.

I’m all for vaccines, but if there’s sign of fever, any virus bacterial or non; the best advice is to always wait til baby is in Good health & over the last virus; before having Shots. Common knowledge here in Canada- not matter the AGE. My 14 ur old just went for missed shots due to COVID school closures, & she had a slight fever was around some sick kids, & a nurse automatically recommended we put them off 2 weeks. If for a teen, ESPECIALLY should be recommended for a Premie…

I just got an advertisement embedded in the video. I so abhor ads! Don't include ads please. I will quit watching if it becomes a regular deal. Thanks! I love, love, love these shows.

I broke my back when I was 46, I had a burst fracture of my T 12. Not overweight, in great shape! From that day forth I moved South where there's no snow or ice and into a one-story house! Good thing I did, because things have only gone downhill since then! Regarding the ads, there's always fast forward, or the mute button!

@@butchieblock9118 I'm sorry to hear you have back pain and issues. T12 is where I had my first injury during a group lift of a large man from falling on the floor. Somehow I got on the wrong side and was crushed by the pt. One side going one way and the other facing the other direction. I ended up in the ER and then therapy in the hosp I worked in...but it was never reported nor do I have any proof that it happened to me. No incident report was done. I was a very new nurse and didn't know any better. I just did what my elders told me to do. I have major spinal and other health issues that have disabled me. Nursing was not a good career for me, even though I do feel I did a good job and made a difference however short lived they were. Only ads that are embedded in the videos come though. I still have Adblock+ and it works fine. I will update/pay for more if and when I have to. I cannot tolerate ads!
Bless you and thank you for commenting!

Being afraid of hospitals is not just a UK thing. I have refused to ever go back to our local hospital here in ON Canada because the the horrific treatment. You are better off taking your chances at home because they will end up making you worse. I nearly died from covid. I battled for a month with my daughter looking after me. Both her and i agreed i was not going to the hospital. You go to that hospital suffering literally screaming in pain and constant vomiting, form a serious kidney infection and they leave you for 6 hour in the waiting room before anyone even looks at you. But you can be sure if you need stitches in your face, you are rushed right in. My eldest was rushed in one night with severe stomach pains, the nurse did give her some meds that seemed to help her enough, that we chose to leave after sitting in the hall staring at the er dr who not once moved from his chair at the computer, at the nurses station. for 4 hours. He waited out his shift change. My middle daughter went out for one drink with a couple friends. she came home not acting right at all. The paramedics said she was just drunk and needed some mental help. I still believe my daughter was drugged, but no one took her blood till 9am the next morn and by then the drugs would be long gone. She would want to go to sleep then she would just start thrashing uncontrollably. This went on for about 4 hours. after 20 mins of this when her boyfriend brought her home, i called the ambulance. She would say i can't stop, make it stop, it hurts. Then she would pass out again. Then she would start thrashing around again. Sure wish we had the nice medical care here. I know it better than the states but not everywhere.

It's unfortunate you had this experiences. Keep in mind every hospital goes by priority of the case. Generally, someone with pain/vomiting secondary to a kidney infection is by far a lower priority compared to someone coming in with chest pain due to a cardiac cause or a possible significant facial injury requiring sutures with active bleeding present and the possibility of an underlying head injury/internal bleeding/facial fractures/ reduced blood pressure from loss of blood/shock states, etc, unless of course the individual with said kidney infection was unstable, had abnormal vital sings o r other associated symptoms. Also, Just an FYI, depending on the drugs that may have be taken or given, they can last in the blood longer than just a few hours dependent on a few factors. There is also other ways to test this too such as urine.

And people like you are exactly why healthcare professionals are burning out and leaving the workforce. Btw, when you had Covid, unless you needed help breathing, then you are better off at home, not exposing everyone at the hospital to COVID. Also, have or were you immunized against COVID???? The hospitals triage people and the sickest patients get seen first and admitted. Of course, I’m sure you and your family always think you are the sickest but 99% sure you aren’t. You could also move to a country where you think you’d get better care and that would make you happy and give our healthcare system some relief. 🇨🇦

I despise hospitals too! They almost killed me in 2011. I contracted MRSA because the nurse didn't wash her hands after just being in a room with a patient who had it. Then my surgeon cut the sack that held my spinal fluid. You should look at the statistics of people who died due to malpractice

Febrile seizures are very common in babies and are caused by spikes in temperature. They diagnosed an ear infection and gave him antibiotics. The temperature was probably so high because rise from the infection was added to the rise from having a vaccine. That's why they ask you if the baby is well before they give an injection. No mystery.

A baby needs vaccinations because if they get any of the things covered they will due. Measles etc has lowered the amount of children harmed or killed by these diseases. I have a foster child who got polio in West Africa she was taken to the US and adopted but ended up in care again because of her disabilities she is now a teenager and apart from her difficulties in walking she is doing well and l am going to adopt her.
