I have been using my bear and sons stockman, like yours but a little bit different color, same size, carbon blades for a little over two years and I really like it. I just sharpen and lube it once in a while and it keeps going. I think you will learn to really like it. Stay safe, cheers. 😊
I would choose a two bladed knife preferably 3.5"-4". Jack knives, Copperheads, Canoes, mini-Trappers, large Pens, maybe a one-bladed lockback. Something that is not to big to pocket but might still carry well in a belt sheath. Either way my preference would probably change after a time as I do get bored with the same features all the time. I did carry one knife for about 20 years but that was before I decided to collect a few more.
Haven't thought about having just one pocket knife as I have some for different tasks even seasons but I have gotten away from the collecting so ask myself which of these knives would i replace (if possible) if it went missing.
Your arguments are sound. The 'one' knife must do everything you want it to do, be cheap to buy and easily replaced, easily sharpened and easily cleaned. In my case that is the Imperial Schrade Sodbuster Junior (Yellow). Slicey enough to cut through 3/4 inch nylon rope in one hit, excellent build quality, fantastically ergonomic in hard and repetitive use, cheap, scrubbed in the washing up bowl without worrying about spalting wood or shrinking bone, capable of shucking an Oyster at a push without developing blade play, a good pruner (develops a recurve over time), pinch opening so you don't have to remove gloves, and..........yellow because the wife hates it 🤣🤣🤣
*Should I walk around with an overpriced $400 GEC or the $36 Feebay Find....Hmmms...Gosh what should I do??* 🙄🙄 *This might be the stupidest video I've watched in a long time*
My mostly carried pocket knife is a Sheffield made large stockman. It is a very versetile design.

I’m glad to hear that someone else loves the Dixie Stockman!!!
Nice I would choose the Stockman pattern to but in large like the bigger Case Stockman. I have the GEC Calf Roper it’s a medium stockman
