      I like the S2000 a lot also. I went another route and supercharged a 2003 Mazda MX-5. About the same power as a stock S2000 but more power and torque down low. Very linear power. Makes a small car even more fun.

    The "VTEC" can be adjusted lower once you get a tune or a hondata flashpro if you drop it down to 4,200 rpm is perfect for daily and racing here and there. You feel way more power when you lower the vtec

    • @Mishasport
      @Mishasport 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      sabastian kimball this is true, but it’s awful for daily driving because you’ll be accessing VTEC so much more frequently that you’ll be burning more fuel and even a bit of oil. But, if you really miss the low end power it could be worth it

    @joet5091 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think another reason why you enjoyed it so much is because it's a smaller car than your 'stang, so the feeling of speed, etc. was more intense.
    I've owned many cars. Of them, I had a 1973 Triumph Spitfire & also an 85 GT, the last of the 4 bbl's. That car was stripped in terms of weight. It had no AC, ground effects or anything. 3,000 lbs, gross curb weight. It went like a bat out of hell, and it was totally stock except for the fact that when my exhaust rusted out, I ran pipes straight from the catalytic, no mufflers. It sounded pretty. :-)
    The Triumph was a total dog in terms of speed, etc. But it was tiny, and handled like a dream around corners & curvy roads. Also, since it was so small and close to the ground, it felt like I was going way faster than I actually was.
    I have a feeling, everything else considered- the Vtec coming on, the beautiful sound of the engine, etc.- the fact that you were experiencing all of this in a smaller car really added to your satisfaction. :-)
    I love how you approached it all with an open mind.
    Take care, bruh!

  • @ruckus3364

    Awesome you kept an open mind!! I own a 8th gen 2dr SI. Never been a Honda fanboy but my reaction was exact same as yours.... it's fun to drive, it's quick and puts a smile on your face. Now add a Garrett Turbo or a Jackson racing supercharger and will stay right with the Stang. Mods are endless and something about when that V-Tec cracks open that's satisfying lol nice video

    • @TiresAndSmoke
      @TiresAndSmoke  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The 8th gen is my favorite model si. I bought one a few years back. I'm a Nissan guy but the car impressed me with just basic bolt ons and flashpro tuning. Roughly around 179 to the wheels stock and then up to 221hp with basic bolt ons and tune. Honda did a great job with k series platform. Put a Kraftwerks SC on it and tune and open up the exhaust and the car will be close to 400hp. So the engine has so much potential for any build to boost or NA !

I know I have a Civic I never said my car is fast but you are legit just embarrassing yourself you sound like a fool. Go learn about cars before you talk 😂💀 Don’t hit any crowds while your at it too bud 👋🏻

    The one thing I learned from this video, we become prejudiced against certain cars based upon the type people that we THINK that drive them.

    I'm currently in the market for a sporty fun four door. I have an '05 Mustang GT that I'm not driving much because it's difficult to get my two year old in her rear facing child seat in the Mustang. We just use my wife's car or my double cab truck. I'd like to trade the '05 for a four door that is about equal in value to keep for around 4 years and then I'll probably get a '15+ Mustang GT once my daughter is old enough to crawl in and out of the back seat herself. So here's the question...2010+ Mazdaspeed 3, 2009+ WRX, 2007+ GTI or 2008+ Civic Si? I'd prefer the power of the turbo cars but I'm worried about reliability, especially reliability of the VW. I think the MS3 is my favourite, I like that is has great power, heated seats and dual climate control. I feel the Honda is the underpowered but reliable choice. Any advice from actual owners is appreciated...

    • @carlosgalan5481
      @carlosgalan5481 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevindust You can get a Civic si and get bolt ons and a tune and will be as quick as the Mazdaspeed 3 and WRX stock lol. But if you want to keep a car stock and have that boost and (semi) reliability then go for the WRX

    Both of my cars have that kind of powerband. Under 4000, my '00 Mercury Cougar doesn't do much. Enough tourqe to get around, but that's it. But when secondaries pop, it gets loud and it gets quick. My 04 Mazda RX-8 is even more extreme. Under 4000 rpm it's utterly slow. 4-6 it's a quick car, but nothing properly fast. However, at about 6500 when the SSV opens up, that rotary power and scream is unleashed and it just flies. Although almost everything I've ever raced has taken me off the line, it's amazing fun to reel them back in like they're standing still once I hit my powerband. That's the fun with high revving engines. Nice and sensible when driving casually, but they always have a nice reserve of power just a few thousand rpm higher when needed.

    Ive owned both cars.. I started with an 07 GT.. Traded it for an 09 Ram that blew a headgasket 2 weeks after getting it, the dealership let me swap the truck out.. They had nothing I wanted.. My 07 GT was gone.. I picked a black 09 Si sedan thinking I was getting a basic reliable gas saver... I was surprised.. Never heard of an Si Civic at that point... I got married and needed a car my wife at the time could drive to so we traded my 09 Si in on a 2013 Genesis Coup 3.8 automatic so she could drive... We got divorced... About 8 months ago I bought a 2010 GT... The Civic was fun to drive but there was a reason why I went back to a Mustang..
    It was the fastest of the 3 cars.. Faster then the Genesis I had which was rated for 350hp which I felt was bogus.. When I test drove the Genesis for the first time I was like "No" but wife at the time begged for the car... The Genesis on paper had 50 more horses than my old 07 GT but I was amazed at how slow that car was.. But anyway Im back in a GT.. Its a 2010.. Its not as fast as my old 07 because of mods but Im building it up.. Just bought new rims and tires for it... Now I start the mods beginning with CAI, Headers, Cam, tune..Civic was the most fun.. Genesis was a fraud.. Mustang GT was the fastest... My 07 GT was legendary in my neck of the woods.. My 2010 GT will beat it with the same mods... We're poor out here btw... Poor country folks...

      I tried to hype myself up when I had my Civic.. You might see old comments from me on Civic vids.. I would say the same shit all Civic guys say....
      "If that Civic had this or that it would smoke you"
      "Your car barely beat a 4 cylinder"
      "If the Civic had turbo it would have won"
      "Your car had turbo but barely beat a NA Civic"
      See the pattern? The Civic is the ULTIMATE Coulda Woulda Shoulda car.... It barely loses to EVERYTHING on the damn road followed by excuses....
      Im glad I got my Mustang back so I can go back to laughing at losers lol... Peace

TOO FAST, YOURE WAY TOO FAST FUCK NO” 😂😂😂😭😭😭 one of the funniest experiences of my life

    8th Gen SI is definitely a fun car to drive! I got a MK6 GTI too now and I still love driving my Civic more lol (both slow, I know). My Civic is bolt on/tuned and it's definitely given some cars out of my league some good runs. From GTOs, Camaros, SRT8s and some boosted cars, the NA K20 doesn't disappoint.

    Respect! Both of my projects were Honda 93 del sol and my current 06 civic Si. I love both cars and styles i got the honda due to price and MPG. I plan to turbo it out and then save up for an 08 Shelby GT500. I think both cars have fantastic qualities and it really depends on who you are. As a car guy i love Japanese cars with a passion but i also love the sheer power and sound a V8 makes. So in my opinion why not have both :). Im also a country boy from NC so i also have a truck XD

    Now i really wanna see you drive a built and tuned k20 or b18 swapped civic. Haul ass faster than your stang and still have that fun factor. 90s civics were the best. Like the eg hatch weighs as low as 2k pounds. Throw a better motor in their and you will have the time of your life.

    I never really hated civics, always cool cars, a turbo, and their quick. However today, I would never own another one because the crowd that owns the Civic appears to be a really young generation and at 35, I don't want to pull up and hang out with a bunch of 16-19-year-olds with half painted bumpers and fart cans, just not my thing any more :(

    Nice review bro i have a 9th gen 2k12 SI coupe and i love it .
    Ive had faster cars in the past but there is something about it that just puts a huge smile on my face from ear to ear 😊 its just fun to drive all the times.
    But to be serious you need to be in the passenger seat with a real SI driver and experience the quick slam shifts chirps from gear to gear 2nd and 3rd if hit right.
    your shift changes are hanging too long and i bet you had a little trouble getting it into 3rd on high rpm’s GOTTA SLAM IT into 3rd to get the car to hook because if you dont you either grind the living crap out of the clutch trying to find it or you lose 2k rpm’s and the car bogs once you finally get it into 3rd and the race is lost lol
    Just a little tip from an si owner trust me you will smile even more 😊
    MY VTEC GOES BWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ! 😎
