This is one of those games that came out before the ps5 yet literally looked like a ps5 game 6 years before the ps5 even came out that absolutely insane. It goes to show if all developers pushed the PS4 hardware to its limit like certain games did like assassins Creed unity assassins Creed Odyssey far cry five red dead redemption two the last of us too these are games that look even still bettter then games we get in 2024 on ps5 and that’s absolutely crazy the PS4 had ps5 capabilities. It just needed the developers to really push it
I just finished Unity yesterday, and I’m shocked how good the game was. I still have the DLC to finish, but it’s a great game now. The parkour is the best of any of them.
Pretty sure lots of lighting was pre-baked, which took load off the hardware. These days everything has to be dynamic, while at the same time often looking worse and performing terribly. Also attention to detail seems far more superior than their 'AAAA' games today. This only shows art direction is still the king when it comes to visuals over just raw tech.

I agree every single point mentioned in your video, this game is truly amazing especially for its age! I replayed it recently on my ps5 and oled tv and i was blown away about how great it looked especially the lights and reflections (almost as if it was developed in HDR) The parkour is the most flawless and elegant, the fights are the most impactful and “realistic” and the atmosphere is superb! So sad that Ubisoft decided to suck from one day to another :(
Bought it a while back when it was on sale, still haven't played it though but I think tomorrow I'll install it and finally play it. It's honestly crazy to me how alive the city feels/looks in this game, no wonder it was buggy
I went back to this a few months ago and just couldn’t get over how poor the draw distances are and how bad the pop ins are… those alone made it difficult to play through again, shame,because when I played this originally I don’t remember noticing them as badly as they are today. Edit: Oh and don’t get me started on how bad the textures are on the bloody weapons…
Playing it for the first time now ... right after playing Mirage ... the graphics in Mirage are a bit nicer but the graphics in Unity are pretty great so ... with the better fighting and parkour Unity has Mirage beat in my my books.
just finished tis and the dead kings dlc.... yeah parkour and the open world is great but the STORY hooked me all the way even tho it's still buggy AF.... the motion capture amazing also... this game made the AC RPG game's story and animations looked like a high school project.... looking forward to play SYNDICATE and AC3...
Being an old-gen AC fan, Unity is the last game in the series I played. If Unity is now being looked back in such high regard, I can't imagine how terrible the games that succeeded it in the series had to be.
I was really enjoying playing through Unity until the awful ubi connect corrupted my save and lost 20+ hours progress. This was the last ubi game I ever played that relied on their stupid launcher.

Bought Unity for only 3quid because of your previous vid. You are not wrong, it’s amazing for a 10yr old game! I thought AC2 was still the best after playing Valhalla (meh!) but this may top it (though Arno ain’t as cool as Ezio).
@franly656 it will make acu 100% better, it basically open ups the game's mechanics even more like allowing throwing throwables from a pole or while wall running and many other small but extra features, great for a new playthrough.
I played them all A.C except MIRAGE....only ODYSSEY and ORIGINS i liked... Played ODYSSEY 4500 hours ORIGINS 1400 hours... I don't liked old A.C that's why skipped MIRAGE
