As a T1 with complications, I thank you all for the work you have dedicated your lives too😊. The advancements I have seen over the 39 years of my T1 journey have been amazing. The opportunity of healing research holds within my lifetime completes those unfinished conversations throughout my T1 journey. Thank you for holding this TED talk to bring more awareness to this disease & research.

One question. Let's say we have fully functional beta cells from iPS cells to avoid applying life-long immunosuppressive drugs, still these transplanted cells are going to be attacked by immune cells as they did at the first place (in type 1 diabetes). What are the ways to get around it besides immunosuppressive therapy?

Excuse me. Didn't you Listen properly!??? Omg. Minibags that shield the cells. Re-watch nearer the ending

@@greg1mcintosh844 it doesn't matter much Viacyte failed miserably the results fell short of Viacyte’s ambitions to create a functional cure. Despite the new cells, the patient still needed to take insulin to control her disease. So what's the point ? When they should gave tried working with type 2's first because the immune system is running rogue.

@@USBionicMarine lol 2 years later! Haha. Ok well anyway I want to revisit new stem cell advances again now anyway as I got distracted from it what with "pandemic" and I need to re watch this and refresh my mind on the matter but either way it seems the way of the future in medicine. Gonna re watch this and get back to you... Thanks

City of Hope research institue making a vaccine that will train immune system not to attack beta cells

@@MuhammadHanif-lj8ry it's not a Vaccine they are supposedly beta cells the immune system doesn't recognize. Don't get your Hope's up 90% of research is a scam just a way to get Grant money and donations money just to milk that cash cow like Dr Denise Faustman she is a fraud.
