I read in an EastEnders book from 1987, that all of the interior shots of The Orient Express was done on a sound-stage at Elstree Studios. I have no idea how the crew made the carriages move and the backdrop that was used, as it looks like Den and Angie are really travelling across Europe. Was bluescreen ever used?

The Orient Express scenes were filmed at Elstree Film Studios, across the road from where EastEnders is filmed at BBC Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.
Watching this on Drama last year showed me how much better it was back then to the recent awful Christmas garbage they just showed with all the bad scheming and talking like they are in a cheap movie.

Question to the masses.. Was Kevin Kennedy 'Curly Watts' even in Eastenders? I remember him playing one of Nick Cotton' s drug addict friends back in the 80's can anyone confirm that?
No Kevin Kennedy always felt that Lofty Holloway was a ripoff of the character that he was playing in Coronation Street. They both wore the same glasses, although Lofty was a little bit dumber than Curly.
